Take a bite?

Mu Chengfeng was startled by his own thoughts and felt that he was probably losing his mind.

“Keep crying so hard, and your eyes will swell up. You’re such a crybaby!”

Luo Ning replied, choking slightly. “It’s all your fault! If you hadn’t lingered and left, there wouldn’t have been any zombies.”

Mu Chengfeng felt a headache coming on from Luo Ning’s accusations. It seemed he really couldn’t do anything about this kid. The tears on his fingertip felt warm, and he became even more irritated. “So what do you want me to do to make you stop?”

Luo Ning wiped his eyes and said quickly, “You saw it too, I can’t handle things alone. You can’t push me away again.”

Mu Chengfeng felt helpless. What else could he do? He probably couldn’t shake off this burden. But this was his only concession, he wouldn’t reciprocate Luo Ning’s feelings.

Eventually, after a while, Luo Ning finally settled down in the car. He looked at Mu Chengfeng’s profile and breathed a sigh of relief.

The car drove along the outskirts, crashing through zombies they encountered on the road.

Some zombies were quite troublesome. Now, two more had set their sights on them. One was clinging to the roof, its claws scratching with an ear-splitting sound. The other hung its head against the window, blood staining the glass, its hideous face pressed tightly against it, knocking against it with a thud.

Luo Ning turned away from the ugly sight, but the screeching noise still echoed in his ears. He was worried that the zombies might break through the window.

Mu Chengfeng maintained a calm expression, not panicking at all. He instructed Luo Ning to sit tight and suddenly accelerated. The car sped forward, the tires swerving wildly. The force of the movement sent the two zombies flying off, their bodies rolling away and left behind.

Luo Ning was jolted and couldn’t stabilize himself, leaning to the side and on Mu Chengfeng’s thigh, feeling the firm muscles against his face.

He slowly raised his head and smiled sheepishly, propping himself up on Mu Chengfeng’s leg as he climbed back into his seat.

Mu Chengfeng’s expression was strange. He suspected Luo Ning might be doing it on purpose. But seeing Luo Ning’s still reddened eyes, he decided to let it go to avoid making him cry again.

Now he understood how troublesome it was to be liked by someone, especially when that person was a spoiled little tail.

The car drove for a long time, moving away from the city, and stopped at a gas station on the side of the highway.

Gasoline was essential and extremely scarce in the apocalypse. Many gas stations had been emptied out, but it seemed this one still had some.

There were only a few zombies scattered inside, swaying in their work uniforms.

It seemed they smelled the presence of the living people. Their heads quickly turned, empty eyes staring at them, and then they excitedly charged forward.

Mu Chengfeng got out of the car with his long knife, and Luo Ning followed while clutching a watermelon knife tightly. He tried to make himself calm as he faced the zombies.

Mu Chengfeng was a bit surprised. “What are you doing getting out? Aren’t you scared?”

Luo Ning nodded. “I want to learn how to kill zombies.”

He wasn’t sure how long he would stay here, but he had to learn to solve problems on his own. He couldn’t be a burden to Mu Chengfeng. He needed to have the ability to fight back when facing the zombies. Escaping wasn’t his style.

Mu Chengfeng was taken aback, his expression softening. He knew how scared Luo Ning was, but now he was trying hard to be brave, like a trembling little animal cautiously peeking out. It stirred something in Mu Chengfeng.

He adjusted Luo Ning’s grip on the knife and pointed out the weak spots of the zombies, focusing on the slowest one.

Luo Ning was nervous. This wasn’t just about slicing watermelons. If he saw blood, he thought he might have nightmares. Suddenly, he had an idea. He called out to Xiao Ba and asked if it could add a pixelated effect.

In the next moment, the zombie’s head turned into a QR code. Luo Ning’s pressure was relieved. He had learned some moves while training with a martial arts instructor during his acting days, so his movements weren’t too clumsy.

He could handle that slow zombie. Although the process was slow, Luo Ning managed to take it down on his own.

With Mu Chengfeng protecting him, he didn’t feel afraid. He calmed down the nausea and faced the next zombie, his movements becoming increasingly skillful.

What he didn’t expect was that as they moved to retrieve the gasoline cans, they encountered a level two zombie.

Mu Chengfeng was cautious. When the tip of his knife pierced the zombie’s chest, the zombie’s sharp fingers lashed out. Instinctively, he unleashed a wave of power from his hand, which was a faint black mist. When it touched the zombie’s hand, the fingers began to rot.

Mu Chengfeng quickly dispatched the zombie, his expression uncertain as he stared at his hand. Could this be his ability?

After pondering for a moment, he experimented with that power again. Smoke began to swirl from his hand.
