Mu Chengfeng had a feeling that he had picked up a troublesome burden, one that was like a sticky candy he couldn’t shake off.

Did Luo Ning really like him that much? Why wouldn’t he leave?

This left him feeling frustrated. If he had to resort to violence, he wouldn’t be able to do it, and even scolding felt ineffective. Mu Chengfeng had never felt so exhausted.

He simply decided to look for another car. If that didn’t work, he would just leave on foot.

Luo Ning also sensed his intentions and couldn’t understand why Mu Chengfeng was so dismissive of him. He felt a bit hurt.

He chased after him, but a cold wind swept past. A sense of danger made Luo Ning’s hair stand on end. Acting on instinct, he rolled to the side.

He narrowly avoided the attack and found himself face to face with a zombie that had lost an arm. Its hideous appearance sent chills down Luo Ning’s spine.

He panicked and backed away, picking up a large stone and throwing it, then quickly reaching for a knife.

But the zombie moved swiftly towards him like the wind and lunged at him, leaving Luo Ning no time to dodge. He was stunned, as if falling into an abyss. The sensation of death flooded his brain. He thought he might be entering the next world. He would be bitten by a zombie and die painfully.

Time seemed to stand still. A cold flash passed in front of him as Mu Chengfeng’s long knife cut off the zombie’s other arm, then aimed for its neck. But the zombie was surprisingly agile, jumping back and circling behind Mu Chengfeng.

Its terrifying face revealed bloody bones, and it let out a rasping growl. Angered by Mu Chengfeng’s action of stopping him from eating tender flesh, it charged swiftly at him.

Mu Chengfeng’s gaze was cold and stern. This zombie was a level two speed type, making it particularly difficult to deal with. The rage that rose within him was uncontrollable. The zombie had nearly bitten Luo Ning. He struck with precision, each blow targeting the zombie’s weak points.

The long knife severed the zombie’s legs and sliced through its throat.

Mu Chengfeng wiped the blood off his hands in disgust, then with a cold expression, kicked its body aside. Seeing Luo Ning frozen in fear, he walked over.

In a stiff tone, he asked, “Are you okay?”

The air was thick with the smell of blood, and everything around them fell silent. They were safe now. Luo Ning took a moment to process what had happened, then blinked, pouted, and started crying.

His eyes were red, and the corners of his eyes were watery, resembling a rabbit. Tears glistened on his cheeks, and his watery eyes seemed to lose their sparkle. He was gasping and sobbing. He didn’t cry loudly, but it was even more heart-wrenching, making him look both pitiful and cute.

Luo Ning felt a wave of fear wash over him. He had walked on the edge of death, and now his legs felt a bit weak. He had only seen zombies in movies before, but facing one in reality was far more terrifying than in the movies. It was beyond what Luo Ning could endure. He definitely didn’t want to be bitten by such an ugly creature.

Although he usually considered himself strong and wouldn’t cry so ungracefully, he felt strangely fragile now, as if he had been pampered without restraint. Now, he couldn’t stop the tears from flowing.

Mu Chengfeng was taken aback. Why was he crying like a child? He awkwardly said, “Stop crying.”

“Never mind me.” Luo Ning turned away, rubbing his eyes, his little nose red.

Seeing the tears glimmering on Luo Ning’s chin, Mu Chengfeng felt inexplicably annoyed. If he acted too harshly, Luo Ning might cry even harder.

After a long moment, he finally sighed. He furrowed his brows and hesitantly reached out to touch Luo Ning’s hair. It felt nice, and he struggled to soften his tone. “It’s okay now. You’ve seen so many zombies, why are you still scared? Look, it didn’t even bite you. It’s broken into several pieces now.”

As he spoke, he wiped away Luo Ning’s tears. His soft and warm face felt delicate, like a steamed bun that would leave a mark if he pinched it slightly.

At this moment, a faint red appeared on it. For some reason, Mu Chengfeng felt a bit dry in his throat. He wanted to take a bite.
