Shen Mo faced blame and ridicule from the shareholders, and his abilities were questioned.

Shen Mo was so angry that he smashed things in the office. His face was twisted. He comforted himself that although the loss of “Nanyun Luhua Island” was unfortunate, he had secured a partnership with a prominent family in the United States. He was confident he could turn things around, and then no one would dare mock him again.

The large project indeed promised big profits, but it was so massive that it consumed funds like water. If it weren’t for the Shen Group’s enough cash flow, they would have struggled to handle it.

However, two months later, Shen Mo heard his assistant’s familiar voice again. “Mr. Shen, it’s bad!”

Veins were popping at Shen Mo’s temples, and he nearly threw a glass at his assistant. “What now?”

The company had been unstable recently, with minor issues like tax audits and factory problems cropping up. Shen Mo was so preoccupied with the partnership project that he didn’t even have time for romance, working overtime daily and not wanting to hear any more bad news.

The assistant cautiously said, “You should check the news!”

When Shen Mo opened his phone, his eyelids involuntarily twitched. The Shen Group was trending, with a headline stating that a charitable foundation under Shen’s name had secretly embezzled all donations, failing to use them for charitable purposes.

Public opinion exploded, accusing the Shen Group of hypocrisy and deception.

Shen Mo didn’t have time to be angry. He quickly sent the public relations department to handle the situation.

The impact of public opinion was big. The Shen Group had faced various negative reports recently, but the foundation’s scandal had truly angered the public. Netizens and the media were attacking, and the news couldn’t be suppressed.

Before long, an ugly video of a senior executive was exposed. One issue after another caused the Shen Group’s stock price to plummet to the bottom.

The cash flow was breaking down, and there were problems with operating funds. The projects that Shen Mo had taken pride in were now stuck, unable to digest the massive cake.

At the same time, the highly regarded Deep Blue Group and another second-rate company launched a full-scale attack on Shen, eager to tear flesh from the Shen Group.

Shen Mo was busy and couldn’t sleep at night.

…

While the atmosphere was tense on one side, the other side was warm and cheerful.

Luo Ning presented a plate of snow-white, glistening pastries to the camera. “Okay, this is the chewy Snow Meringue, and it tastes super comforting.”

The fans in the live stream had already noticed the ring he was wearing. From their initial excitement, they had calmed down, though occasionally someone would still tease him.

“It’s only been two months, and Lemon Baby has been taken by a pig?”

“He’s beautiful and can cook. Such a divine boy should stay single!”

“Oh dear, Mommy can’t bear to leave you, don’t rush into marriage.”

“Ning Ning’s partner is a guy, they’re probably going to marry in the U.S.”

Luo Ning only picked a few suitable topics to respond, smiling to his fans before saying goodbye and closing the live stream.

He eagerly carried the desserts to the dining table, where steam wafted from a small pot divided into two halves: one white and one bright red. It was a mandarin duck hot pot.

It was early autumn, and after a rain last night, the courtyard was covered in flower petals. The weather had cooled down, so Luo Ning suggested having hot pot. He hadn’t eaten spicy food in a long time and was craving it.

The simmering hot pot in the kitchen smelled fragrant, and the rich and mellow aroma wafted into his nose. Beautifully arranged ingredients lay on the table.

Luo Ning sat next to Shen Zhou, curling up in his embrace with familiarity, mumbling, “You’ve been looking for a month, and you still haven’t made up your mind? Is it that troublesome?”

Shen Zhou absentmindedly squeezed his tender little finger with his large palm, resting his chin on Luo Ning’s head. This was his and his baby’s wedding, and everything needed to be perfect. It had to be grand and romantic.

On his tablet were the dress design drafts sent by the designer. There were over ten sets in total for him to choose from. Luo Ning leaned in to look, reaching for a piece of crispy pork to eat. Occasionally, he would feed Shen Zhou a bite.

The hot pot broth began to boil. Luo Ning preferred the spicy one, while Shen Zhou favored a milder flavor.

The spicy broth smelled incredibly spicy, and Luo Ning couldn’t wait to dip in a piece of tripe, the nostalgic taste bursting in his mouth.

Luo Ning’s cheeks turned flush from eating, and his lips were as red as cherries, glistening with a hint of oil, his eyes misty.

Seeing him enjoy the food, Shen Zhou became curious and grabbed a piece for himself, only to cough immediately. His usually cool face flushed slightly. Cough, cough, why is it so spicy?

Luo Ning laughed when he saw his speechless look. He patted his back and handed him a glass of water. “If you can’t handle spicy food, then don’t eat it. No need to force yourself.”

Shen Zhou drank it all in one gulp, feeling a bit wronged. What should he do if his and his wife’s tastes didn’t match? He could only reluctantly share a pot with Luo Ning.

After finishing, Luo Ning suddenly realized he had eaten too much again.

He had clearly decided to lose weight, but upon seeing the delicious food, he forgot all about it. He didn’t want to be so gluttonous.

He rubbed his soft belly, feeling it was a bit too round, ruining his image. Luo Ning flopped onto Shen Zhou and gave up on trying to help himself.
