The Shen Group was a giant in China. Not only because of its long-standing family background but also because of the wise strategies of its past leaders. It was involved in various industries and firmly held a top position.

After Shen Mo took over the group, he was filled with ambition and boldly launched various plans.

The group had two major important projects. One was “Nanyun Luhua Island”, and the other was an important collaboration with a top foreign family. The contracts had already been signed.

Shen Mo was extremely confident that as long as he succeeded with these two projects, he would establish his footing in the company and surpass Shen Zhou.

After a lot of effort, he finally managed to win Lin Lan back. Enjoying a beautiful romance while working hard on his career, he sat in a leather chair, gently swirling his glass of red wine, his eyes filled with smiles.

However, after the construction on “Nanyun Luhua Island” began, Shen Mo couldn’t enjoy his leisure for long before his assistant rushed in.

“Mr. Shen, it’s bad! The government’s notice has come out. Our information is incorrect. Nanyun Luhua Island has no development value at all. It’s all wrong,” the assistant said anxiously, speaking in a hurried tone.

Shen Mo’s pen left deep marks on the contract in his hand. He frowned and asked, “What did you say?”

The assistant repeated the information he had learned, lowering his head and not daring to speak further, not wanting to face Shen Mo’s scolding and anger.

Shen Mo blinked, then suddenly threw the pen down, the chair scraping against the floor with a harsh sound. “How could this happen?!”

His eyes widened, his expression darkening, with veins starting to throb on his forehead.

He placed great importance on the “Nanyun Luhua Island” project, even considering it a badge of his strength, and yet something went wrong. How could it be possible?

Shen Mo gritted his teeth and asked, “Isn’t that area a key planning spot for the government? Why has it turned into wasteland? Who prepared the project proposal?”

The atmosphere in the office grew tense, filled with Shen Mo’s reprimands.

The assistant shook his head and said quietly, “That’s why we said the information was wrong. That location isn’t the government’s focus at all, it’s the area east of the city.”

So, buying it was pointless? Shen Mo inhaled deeply, his hands trembling slightly. He was so angry that he could hardly speak.

Just the purchase of that piece of land had cost a full two billion. He had focused on its potential value and smugly believed he was set to make a profit. Later, the compensation and resettlement for residents would be in the hundreds of millions. He had even worked hard to attract investments. Now that the project had started, he was being told it was all a mistake.

Shen Mo couldn’t believe this reality. He ordered the assistant to quickly bring the data for him to review. The more he looked, the darker his expression became. The land he had thought was a treasure was actually worthless. The initial investment was over four billion!

This was no small number. After the project was completed, it would just be a useless piece of junk.

He would also have to face accountability from the shareholders. He had just become president, and now this mistake would ruin his credibility.

In a fit of rage, Shen Mo smashed everything on the desk and yanked his tie off, his eyes red with fury. He had nowhere to vent, so he shouted at his assistant, “Such a big deal, why are we only finding this out now? What’s the point of having you useless people?”

The assistant remained silent but cursed inwardly. The higher-ups had discussed that such a major project required cautious investigation and verification of the source of information, but Shen Mo refused to listen and insisted on being arrogant. He was clearly not that insightful, yet he still thought he was so capable.

Shen Mo was so angry that he couldn’t even eat. He couldn’t understand how he could make such a mistake, having been firmly convinced that the project was foolproof.

After thinking for a moment, yes, it was all Shen Zhou’s fault.

When Shen Zhou was still around, he had already focused on gathering information about that area. Shen Zhou’s subordinates had also mentioned that the other party valued the project highly.

Shen Mo thought that since it was important to Shen Zhou, it must be extremely beneficial. Without much caution, he insisted on acquiring the land to launch the project.

But he was completely wrong. With Shen Zhou’s years of experience in the business world, it was impossible for him to make a mistake. And why didn’t he hear any rumors about this? Something didn’t add up.

Could it be that Shen Zhou had set a trap before he left?

No, it couldn’t be. Shen Mo shook his head. If Shen Zhou had been prepared, he wouldn’t have been driven out by him. He must be overthinking it. The most important thing now was how to make up for it.
