Just after hanging up the phone, Luo Ning bent down and was about to place his phone on the table when Shen Zhou’s phone rang nearby. It was a text message. Shen Zhou had just been sent to take out the trash by him.

Luo Ning initially didn’t plan to look, but the words “Mr. Shen” suddenly caught his eye.

“Mr. Shen, the meeting time for tomorrow has been postponed to the afternoon.”

Luo Ning frowned in confusion. It was obvious that Mr. Shen referred to Shen Zhou. Although he knew that Shen Zhou was once a domineering boss, wasn’t he bankrupt now? Did he have amnesia? Was he working at a new place?

Why were people still calling him Mr. Shen? What did the meeting mean?

Luo Ning suddenly sensed something was off. His fingers tightened around the phone as he carefully read the message. He called the system for the first time and asked doubtfully, “Xiao Ba, is there an error in the world information you provided?”

Wasn’t he supposed to be a little pitiful? Why did it seem like there was a bug? And a huge one at that.

The system confidently replied, “Of course not. My database cannot be wrong. Ning Ning, you shouldn’t doubt my abilities.”

“But I really feel something is off. Are you sure Shen Zhou has amnesia?”

“Logically, the world background I retrieved shouldn’t be off. Ning Ning, don’t overthink it.”

Luo Ning felt the system was unreliable. He didn’t say more and kept staring at the message. After hesitating for a moment, he couldn’t help but swipe up, revealing past message records.

They were all about business meetings and collaboration matters and schedule arrangements.

Luo Ning’s eyes darkened slightly, and he said to the system, “Then what do you make of this?”

An amnesiac bankrupt person wouldn’t have such things. Clearly, Shen Zhou’s situation wasn’t as simple as he imagined.

That was right, he had always assumed Shen Zhou had amnesia, but Shen Zhou had never admitted it.

But he hadn’t denied it either!

Luo Ning felt frustrated, as if he had been deceived. His mind was a little foggy. He wanted to ask the system.

But the previously confident Xiao Ba was now perfectly pretending to be dead. There was no response no matter how he knocked.

Luo Ning’s face flushed with anger. Recalling how he had acted so self-righteously in front of Shen Zhou, bringing him home and treating him like a fragile little cabbage, he felt like a fool. It was laughable.

And Shen Zhou, why didn’t he explain anything? He had been enjoying all his tender care. They were lovers, but he kept it a secret from him.

Luo Ning’s eyes brimmed with grievance. If he hadn’t discovered the truth, how long would Shen Zhou have continued to deceive him?

His thoughts were a jumbled mess when the door opened, and Shen Zhou asked, “Baby, why haven’t you gone to wash up?”

“Are you waiting for me?”

Luo Ning glared at him. “Heh!” He coldly turned and called out, “Mr. Shen.”

Shen Zhou paused, his expression stiffening for a moment. Seeing the phone on the table, he understood what was happening.

Luo Ning had misunderstood his amnesia from the start, and finding it amusing, he didn’t refute it. Later, because he wanted to go home with Luo Ning, he felt even less inclined to say anything. He thought that once their relationship was more stable, he could confess.

He had considered being honest but feared it would anger Luo Ning. Imagining his own baby’s puffed-up cheeks with anger and teary eyes made him feel guilty.

Luo Ning widened his eyes and asked angrily, “So you think it’s funny to keep me in the dark?!”

Shen Zhou stepped forward and wanted to comfort Luo Ning with a hug, but Luo Ning pushed him away. He didn’t let go and gently rubbed Luo Ning’s back. “Baby, it’s not like that. I just thought you were cute.”

“I was afraid you’d get mad, so I didn’t dare say anything. I apologize to you, okay? You can punish me however you like. You can hit me, scold me, or make me cook. Any punishment is fine.”
