In the little living room, the broom, rug, and mop began to move on their own. The household chores that had once required Luo Ning a lot of effort could now be done easily with a casual flick of Fu Xian’s fingers.

The faint dust was wiped away clean, allowing Luo Ning to simply sit on the sofa watching TV while comfortably petting the cat and munching on potato chips.

The weather was still a bit warm, so Luo Ning didn’t turn on the air conditioning. Once Fu Xian finished his tasks, Luo Ning spread his arms and let him sit down. He happily wrapped his arms around the man, squinting his eyes comfortably. It was so cool. It was as if he had a human-shaped air conditioner.

He rested his small head on the man’s shoulder, the soft strands of his hair brushing against the man’s chin.

Fu Xian reached out to ruffle Luo Ning’s hair and tossed aside the annoying little cat on Luo Ning’s lap. With a sweep of his arm, he pulled Luo Ning onto his lap like a child, wrapping his arms tightly around him. His empty heart was instantly filled.

Luo Ning felt a bit embarrassed by the position and pinched him. It felt strange to curl up like this at his age. He wanted to break free, but Fu Xian patted him on the bottom, insisting he remain still.

Upon touching him, Fu Xian discovered the sensation was extraordinarily pleasant. After all, it was a reward produced by the system, full and soft.

Fu Xian couldn’t resist squeezing a little. Luo Ning shivered slightly, his face flushing bright red as he glared at the man, hurriedly pushing his hand away and curling up against Fu Xian’s chest like an ostrich. His face felt incredibly hot. He needed this big block of ice to cool down.

Fu Xian felt a tickle in his heart. Unable to touch the bottom, he began to squeeze and rub other places. He couldn’t understand why this man in his arms was so obedient and soft. He decided he could overlook the past humiliation. In exchange, this person would belong to him.

The entire neighborhood remained peaceful and clean. The residents, exhausted from working to earn money, had forgotten their fear and continued with their mundane lives. In a realm that couldn’t be seen with the naked eye, the dark shadows inside the neighborhood vanished, leaving the whole area similar to an insulated zone, enveloped in some kind of mist that made one reluctant to approach.

This became a hot topic among the ghosts in the vicinity, who huddled together in twos or threes, casting wary yet curious glances at the neighborhood.

Although frightened, many of their eyes shimmered with longing. Ghosts could be ranked too. If they could just get a taste of that lingering yin energy, their souls could become more solid.

“We definitely have a big shot among us, though he’s a bit tyrannical with such a massive territory he’s claimed.”

“I heard he’s also extremely fierce. Those who dared to provoke him have been torn to shreds!”

“It seems like he’s a vengeful ghost. How many vengeful ghosts can there be in this world? We have to avoid Celestial Masters, but a vengeful ghost could overturn an entire Celestial Master family. How could he not be powerful?”

“I certainly wouldn’t dare to get close to him.”

“I’m so envious. If I had that kind of power, I’d rule the world.”

“If we can’t be big shots, then let’s cling to a big shot’s thigh. We need to find ways to bribe him with something. Even a bit of what a big shot might give us would be an incomparable boon. Who would dare bully us with a big shot protecting us?”

“Looking at your ugly face, it’s a dream. As if such a big shot would look at a nobody like you.”

“Sigh! Even ghosts have dreams.”

“It’s not as exaggerated as you all are saying. The big shot is actually quite laid-back. I once saw him carrying a basket of vegetables and a bag of rice.”

“No way, do vengeful ghosts need to cook? Is that some kind of special quirk?”

“Us ordinary ghosts definitely can’t understand that.”

Nearby, a female ghost pondered thoughtfully, her luscious red lips curling up. She wore an ancient red dress, her appearance captivating.

The female ghost was very confident. Before she died, she was the object of many men’s affections, and even after death, she enchanted male ghosts. With her charm, she was certain that she could seduce this so-called big shot. Men and male ghosts were inherently lustful, and only the strongest male ghost was worthy of a beauty like her.

With assurance in her heart and beautiful fantasies, the female ghost asked around and learned that the big shot was usually hard to come by, but each day he could always be found waiting at the entrance of the residential area. She adjusted her low-cut dress, wanting to present herself in the most alluring way.

So, when Fu Xian accompanied Luo Ning home from work, he saw a blood-soaked figure in the distance, posing in a strange manner. Its eyes were bulging, and its bright red mouth was wide open like a gaping maw—a sight that was truly an eyesore.

However, he had been calm and steady lately, so he didn’t resort to violence. He merely shot a disgusted glance and turned his head away.

The female ghost felt that chilling aura and experienced both fear and excitement. She could sense how powerful he was.

If she could attach herself to such a male ghost, she would walk with confidence. Unable to resist the temptation, the female ghost found herself salivating. She became even more determined to seduce him.

She hurriedly floated forward, intentionally lowering her chest and bowing gracefully. She let out a seductive smile. “My lord—”

“This humble woman has come here because of your reputation. I admire you greatly, hoping to stay by your side.”

Fu Xian was feeling impatient. He found her abnormal voice grating like noise in his ears. He was busy going back to cook for his little one and had no time to waste.

He said in a cold voice, “Get lost!”

He didn’t even bother to spare her a glance. The female ghost’s smile froze for a moment. She had never experienced such embarrassment. For a moment, she began to question whether her charm had diminished.

After being ruthlessly rejected, the female ghost felt timid and hesitated, pondering whether she should approach again. But then thinking it was rare to encounter such a handsome male ghost, she could not resist the temptation. She gritted her teeth and floated closer again.

“My lord, am I not beautiful enough? Just keep me, and I will do anything for you!”

Fu Xian was never a good-tempered ghost. This fly kept bothering him, and with a dark expression, he swung his hand. The cold resentful energy struck the female ghost, causing her to scream in horror. Her form became transparent. Fearing her soul would scatter, she quickly fled like the wind.

The lesser ghosts hiding in the shadows shuddered and trembled, hiding themselves thoroughly.

Among them, one chubby ghost gritted his teeth and rushed out. “Big shot, I’m a chef skilled in both Chinese and Western cuisine. I’ve even won a world-class award, a Michelin three-star restaurant. I can cook for you!”

The chubby ghost merely asked tentatively. He naturally wanted to seize this opportunity. Recalling how Fu Xian bought groceries daily, he had gathered his courage to curry favor, his legs still shaking, ready to bolt at the slightest hint of danger.

Just as he felt like fainting from nervousness, Fu Xian stopped. He remembered his burnt porridge and thought of Luo Ning’s love for good food. Although it was a hassle, he decided to learn some recipes from the chef.

The chubby ghost felt overjoyed. It actually worked! He raised his chin in pride amidst the envious stares of the little ghosts.

Under the guidance of the professional chef, Fu Xian’s cooking skills improved rapidly. Even a simple fried rice could be made to taste extraordinary. Luo Ning was the first to notice. The food was incredibly delicious. He himself was a good cook but hadn’t stepped into the kitchen for a long time.

When Fu Xian genuinely cared for someone, he was as gentle and considerate as a spring breeze. He not only prepared breakfast and dinner but also made bento lunches and snacks for Luo Ning during midday, ensuring a balanced diet. He always baked little cookies and jerky for him and even prepared clean fruits neatly arranged on the table.

Luo Ning pinched his cheeks. They had become rounder. He felt like he had been raised like a little pig.

His cheeks were rosy and full of vitality, standing out among a group of lethargic employees. He was living a very comfortable life, and this caught the attention of his boss, who felt a bit resentful. As the CEO, he was exhausted from work, while his junior staff seemed to be eating and sleeping well. This wouldn’t do! So he decided to increase Luo Ning’s workload.

For several consecutive days, Luo Ning worked overtime, constantly running around behind his colleagues. If not for Fu Xian cooking for him, he wouldn’t even come home to a warm meal. He was too tired to even pet the little cat, collapsing into bed as soon as he came home.

Fu Xian furrowed his brow, gently stroking Luo Ning’s brows and eyes with a hint of heartache. He wanted Luo Ning to quit his job and not suffer like this. He could take care of him instead.

The next day, Luo Ning was still assigned a lot of work. As the company was already busy, and with his boss’s tendency to overwork him, he sighed, feeling like he would have to work overtime again. This was the downside of working in a small company.

But to Luo Ning’s surprise, his boss came out with an unexpectedly pleasant attitude in the afternoon. He was all smiles, complimenting Luo Ning on his recent efforts and telling him to temporarily set his work aside and go home early to rest.

Luo Ning was puzzled, nodding blankly. He knew how stingy his boss was. Why would he let him, a laborer, go? Something felt strange. Upon examining his boss more closely, he noticed the smile was stiff, the corners of his mouth raised rigidly, the tone of voice perfectly level, with a cold air around, and his walk strange.

A thought flashed in Luo Ning’s mind, and he began to understand. Fu Xian had been accompanying him to work all this time, so it would be easy for him to pull some strings. As soon as he got home, he grabbed the man’s arm and asked, “Was this you?”

Fu Xian admitted that he had temporarily possessed the man’s body to allow Luo Ning to leave work early.

Luo Ning wasn’t as pleased as Fu Xian had imagined. He said sternly, “Don’t do that again next time.”

Possessing someone else’s body was something most people could not handle. Although his boss was annoying, that didn’t justify harming his health.

Moreover, if the boss found out, wouldn’t there be rumors of ghosts? How would the other employees be able to work then?

Seeing Fu Xian’s disappointed expression, Luo Ning softened his tone and patiently coaxed him while hugging him, “I know you’re doing this for my sake, and I’m happy that you care, but this method is not right.”

Fu Xian hugged him back. “Then you shouldn’t go to work.”

Luo Ning laughed. “If I found a suitable job, I’d resign and switch.”

Luo Ning wasn’t just sweet-talking him. He really planned to change to a job he liked. He had made a lot of money from stocks lately, so he was financially secure.

But that didn’t mean he wanted to stay home and give up work. Although working was tiring, it was also fulfilling and satisfying.

Fu Xian had always been stuck in school and had never worked, but he knew that supporting a family required money. If he could earn money, then his wife wouldn’t have to work so hard, right?

Fu Xian pondered for a while, thinking about ways to make money.
