What to do? What to do? Luo Ning’s breathing quickened as he felt the air heat up.

He dared not think about those small boxes anymore. Carrying the ingredients into the kitchen, he forced himself to appear calm, even though his steps were stiff.

Touching his warming face, Luo Ning bit his lip, trying to push away the strange images in his mind. He started steaming the fish, mixing the salad, and marinating the steak. Each step, which he usually did quickly, was now dragged out as he tried to buy time.

Suddenly, a pair of large hands wrapped around his waist, chest pressed tightly against his back. The warmth transferred to him, causing Luo Ning’s heart to race even more. His ears and face felt so hot. What was ordinarily an innocent gesture made him especially nervous.

Gu Hanchen slipped a slice of orange into Luo Ning’s mouth. Noticing Luo Ning’s flushed ear, he nibbled on it lightly, his breath brushing against Luo Ning’s neck. “Is it too hot? Why is your face so red?”

Luo Ning foolishly nodded, feeling his brain turn to mush.

Gu Hanchen chuckled. “It’s okay. I’m cool. The more hugs, the cooler you’ll be.”

Luo Ning’s eyelashes trembled slightly as he pushed him away. “Stop messing around, the steak is ready.”

The heart-shaped steak was arranged on a light-colored plate, surrounded by delicate broccoli.

Meanwhile, Gu Hanchen had already set the table. Two wine glasses were placed on the table, glimmering with a rich, translucent luster under the light, beautiful like agate. A few roses in a vase exuded a sweet fragrance.

The steak was tender, the fish was delicious, and the wine was rich.

Yet, Luo Ning couldn’t focus on tasting anything. He was too preoccupied with what was about to happen and contemplated downing his glass of wine in one go.

If he did, there would be no room for fear. But Gu Hanchen snatched the glass from him, wiped the wine off his lips, and smiled helplessly. “Even if it’s delicious, you can’t drink wine like water. I don’t want to take care of a little drunkard.”

As he spoke, he handed over a bottle of Luo Ning’s favorite milk. Gu Hanchen noticed his lover wasn’t quite right but didn’t think much of it, assuming Luo Ning was just happy.

Before long, Luo Ning’s stomach was full, but he didn’t head back to the bedroom immediately. He wandered around the house, then turned on the TV and sat upright on the sofa, listening to the sound of dishes being washed in the kitchen, though his mind was elsewhere.

Forget it, he thought. If Gu Hanchen really wanted it, he’d go along with it. It was perfectly normal for lovers to reach this stage. They have to face it sooner or later.

Luo Ning kept building up his courage, preparing himself, but his hands still trembled.

Gu Hanchen cleaned his hands, pulled Luo Ning up, and pushed him into the bathroom. “Baby, go take a shower first.”

What was so interesting on TV? It was better to lie in bed and kiss for a while.

Luo Ning entered awkwardly, a determined look flashing in his eyes. He squeezed a generous amount of body wash onto himself, washing himself until he was fragrant. Sniffing the lavender scent on his body, he slowly made his way to the bedroom, climbed onto the bed, dried his hair, and pretended to calmly flip through a book.

He could hear the sound of water running, which mixed with his erratic heartbeat. He couldn’t focus on a single word in the book.

In a daze, Gu Hanchen stepped in, still dripping with water. His hair was casually pushed back, revealing his strong facial features. His bathrobe wasn’t tightly fastened, and his toned abs were faintly visible.

Luo Ning quickly closed the book and shifted his sitting position awkwardly.

Here it comes. He was finally going to face it.

Gu Hanchen looked at his little lover’s watery eyes and found them extremely tempting. He wrapped his arms around Luo Ning and pinned him down, first kissing his face, gradually moving to Luo Ning’s lips, savoring the sweetness between them, their breaths growing heavier and deeper.

Luo Ning’s mind exploded with fireworks, his body growing weak, feeling as if he had become a puddle of water. He could only wrap his arms around Gu Hanchen’s neck, enduring the storm of kisses Gu Hanchen was showering upon him.

His eyes were red-rimmed, shimmering like a rain-kissed begonia, pitiful yet alluring.

Gu Hanchen’s eyes darkened slightly. His fingers unconsciously slipped inside Luo Ning’s bathrobe, gripping his waist, gliding over soft skin. The touch was exquisite like warm jade. His thin lips also traced a moist trail down Luo Ning’s collarbone.

Gu Hanchen’s large hand caressed Luo Ning’s small bottom, the curve perfectly smooth. Gu Hanchen felt it was softer than glutinous rice balls.

Luo Ning’s collar was pulled down, revealing an expanse of white skin. Gu Hanchen was slightly sweating. The beautiful sight before him was undoubtedly a huge temptation. His blood boiled hotter, and he didn’t know why, the more he desired, the more uncomfortable he felt. He had no idea how to relieve that burning feeling.

It felt like he was being scorched by blazing fire. Gu Hanchen’s dark eyes were filled with a hint of confusion. He wanted more but didn’t know what to do. He kissed him fiercely a few more times before finally releasing him.

To avoid losing control, Gu Hanchen didn’t move again, pulling Luo Ning into his arms. He slightly closed his eyes, suppressing that restlessness.

The air became calm. Luo Ning blinked his confused eyes, his muddled consciousness gradually became clearer. He tilted his head to look at the quiet man beside him, feeling a bit strange. Why did he stop?

Noticing Gu Hanchen made no further moves, Luo Ning’s eyes widened slightly. Did that mean he wasn’t going to continue?

He had already taken off his clothes, they had kissed, and he was mentally prepared. But Gu Hanchen suddenly stopped. What did that mean?

Luo Ning couldn’t quite describe his feelings. He should have been happy, but deep down, he felt a hint of disappointment. The lightness from before was gone, like floating to the top of a mountain only to suddenly fall down.

No, no, he had finally gathered the courage to come this far. He had been restless and even hardly ate. How could they stop here?

Suppressing his embarrassment, Luo Ning turned over, his fingers bending to scratch the palm of Gu Hanchen’s hand. He leaned closer towards him, bypassed his Adam’s apple, and kissed his lips. He rubbed his calf against Gu Hanchen’s body, clumsily teasing him.

Gu Hanchen naturally wouldn’t refuse such a tasty offer. When Luo Ning’s breath was stolen, he felt Gu Hanchen caress his waist. He leaned close to Gu Hanchen’s ear, his eyes glistening with tears, and whispered something before closing his eyes shyly.

Gu Hanchen was puzzled, not quite understanding. He held onto Luo Ning and asked for clarification.

Luo Ning felt exhausted and didn’t expect Gu Hanchen to be even more innocent than he was. He realized that he had been overthinking things. Gu Hanchen actually didn’t intend to take him!

But since things had developed to this point, he could only continue. He pinched Gu Hanchen’s arm in annoyance, grumbling as he told Gu Hanchen to bring the box in.

Luo Ning turned off the light, and two shadows overlapped in the darkness.

…

Gu Hanchen was still unsatisfied. He carried Luo Ning to take a shower. He realized he was too naive, thinking kisses were everything. He didn’t expect there were even more delicious things to discover, opening the door to a whole new world.

Thinking of his baby’s initiative, Gu Hanchen felt his heart flutter. A smile appeared on his lips.

He looked at the small boxes and checked online. Now, he finally understood why they were popular among couples, and he liked them too.

Luckily, he had unintentionally grabbed some yesterday. Otherwise, he would have missed out on so much.

But they were all used up, making Gu Hanchen a bit regretful. He decided to buy some more at the supermarket today and stock up several drawers.

Knowing how tired his baby was, he heated up breakfast first, then crawled back into bed, holding Luo Ning close.

Gu Hanchen felt he was too naive. He made good use of the internet and began to learn.

Luo Ning inhaled sharply. His back ached, his legs hurt, and his mouth felt sore. He felt extremely miserable. He regretted his impulsiveness last night. Just a slight movement sent a wave of pain through him.

He rubbed his cheek against Gu Hanchen’s chest, suppressing the discomfort. Seeing the spirited look on the man’s face, he felt utterly cheated. He kicked Gu Hanchen irritably. “Are you a dog?”

It felt like he had been starving for several lifetimes. Just recalling everything made him shiver, as if he could be swallowed whole.

His strength felt like nothing more than a gentle scratch. Gu Hanchen grabbed his restless little foot and kissed him. “Baby, you’re so cute.”

Gu Hanchen’s heart softened. He knew Luo Ning was unhappy and patiently coaxed him. He apologized first, but he knew there was no way for him to change his ways. He was just starting to taste the sweetness, and he couldn’t stop.

He didn’t disturb Luo Ning this morning because he wasn’t feeling well. He lifted Luo Ning, helped him get dressed, and cooked a bowl of porridge before placing it in front of him. He fed him patiently. Gu Hanchen had already checked and learned that the one who suffered needed light meals to avoid getting a fever.

Thus, he prepared something simple in line with Luo Ning’s usual cooking style. The taste wasn’t great, but it was barely edible.

Luo Ning complained, “No more touching for this entire week.”

He had recovered, and men were creatures who liked to push limits. He couldn’t allow Gu Hanchen to get too carried away.

Gu Hanchen’s fingers paused slightly, and he answered with an okay.

Luo Ning hadn’t slept well last night and had no energy for anything else. He decided to return to the bedroom for a bit more rest.

Gu Hanchen coaxed Luo Ning to sleep and went to the mall. He bought not only the desserts that Luo Ning liked but also ingredients to nourish him, as well as the small boxes he liked.

Luo Ning slept through the afternoon, too lazy to move as he nestled on the sofa. It was all Gu Hanchen’s fault. He transferred all the housework to Gu Hanchen. He couldn’t let himself be the only one tired.

Gu Hanchen happily washed clothes and started stewing ribs in the pot, appearing like a devoted husband.

He deeply understood that to enjoy delicious food, he couldn’t be shy, so he became even more shameless.

Luo Ning glanced at the things he brought back and felt like he was about to faint. When he met Gu Hanchen’s burning gaze, he instinctively felt something was off. He kicked Gu Hanchen and tried to run away, but he swiftly grabbed him, hoisted him onto his back, and carried him to the bathroom.

Luo Ning wanted to cry without tears. He was unable to resist and couldn’t fight back. Tears welled in his eyes as he began to regret his actions. Why did he let this hungry wolf out? Suddenly, he whimpered, exhausted without the energy for any wild thoughts, and couldn’t even raise his hands.

In a daze with his eyes closed, Gu Hanchen looked gentle as he leaned into Luo Ning’s ear and whispered, “Baby, I love you.”

Luo Ning felt like he heard the sound of flowers blooming. Too tired to open his eyes, he drifted into a deep sleep.

Despite the many things he wanted to complain about, Luo Ning knew that he and Gu Hanchen were very, very happy.

Years later, Gu Hanchen’s name has been well-known among the public. He disliked interviews, preferring to show off his affection for his wife online.

However, the anti-cancer drug he developed, the one for treating leukemia, was the most advanced in the world. When the news was announced, it sparked heated discussion online. As one by one, patients were completely cured and could escape the pain of death, countless people expressed their gratitude for Gu Hanchen, who himself received the highest medical award.

At this moment, in a small rented apartment, two elderly people watched the news report on TV. Their haggard appearances no longer showed the brilliance they once had, as if life had crushed their spirits.

The man’s red eyes welled with tears. In a fit of anger, he began to argue with the woman again. “You bitch! If it weren’t for your mistakes, I would still be the chairman of the board. Meeting you has been a disaster for me!”

The woman screamed, “It’s your own fault for being useless. If I’m suffering, you won’t get off easy either!”

The first half of their lives was glorious, but in the second half, they tormented each other. This was Gu Hanchen’s father and Lin Shuangshuang. After enduring a long prison sentence, they came out to find that the world had changed too rapidly for them. They no longer knew how to survive, and with their old age and weak bodies, they found themselves living a life they hated the most.
