Chapter 98: She is in the Painting, Yet She is Not

***

The current Xia Ruoming wore an ordinary sporty ponytail, and despite having enough money to buy a villa, she wore casual clothes that could be found in any roadside clothing store. Her face wasn’t heavily made up, appearing completely natural.

But that bare face was more beautiful than many of the common painted faces in this world.

Jiang Ruhua felt that whether it was the person in the painting or the current Xia Ruoming, there was no sense of disconnect. No matter what clothes she wore or what makeup she had on, it never seemed out of place or strange. At some point, Jiang Ruhua began to feel that Xia Ruoming had this kind of charm, where any style would seem appropriate under her presence.

When she looked at the other person on the drawing paper, she immediately covered her mouth, afraid she might cry out in surprise.

That chestnut-haired girl was clearly her.

Although neither the obvious queen-like temperament nor the strong career woman appearance resembled the current Jiang Ruhua at all, she felt that was definitely herself.

The chestnut hair and facial features couldn’t be wrong, after all, she didn’t have any twin sister.

But… when was this version of herself, was it how Xia Ruoming imagined her? Was she already thinking about what she would be like after they got together?

Thinking about this, Jiang Ruhua felt quite embarrassed.

After a slight ringing in her ears, Jiang Ruhua felt a wave of dizziness and pain.

New memories appeared in her mind.

There were scenes of the blue-haired girl and chestnut-haired girl embracing and kissing deeply, where the chestnut-haired girl’s face was full of happiness.

Scenes of the blue-haired girl flourishing at her book signing event.

Scenes of the blue-haired girl preparing meals at home every day, waiting for the chestnut-haired girl to return.

Scenes of the blue-haired girl keeping an empty house alone.

Scenes of the blue-haired girl painting alone in her studio, and after being disturbed, she seemed to be arguing about something with the visitor.

Scenes of the blue-haired girl and chestnut-haired girl riding a Ferris wheel together, with the chestnut-haired girl fast asleep on the blue-haired girl’s shoulder, even drooling.

Scenes of the blue-haired girl being exposed to various scandals, her career plummeting, seeming to age considerably overnight.

Scenes of the blue-haired girl falling into eternal sleep in the hospital, by then her ice-blue hair had turned lake-blue, unable to open her eyes one last time to see the woman who loved her.

“Are those… my memories…” Jiang Ruhua pressed her temples, speaking softly, not knowing who she was asking, but clearly received no answer.

The protagonists in the painting were exactly the same as the two people in those memories that appeared in Jiang Ruhua’s mind, making her try again to recall what strange connection she had with Xia Ruoming, but still to no avail.

“Why do I have no impression of these things at all…” Jiang Ruhua pondered deeply, unable to reach a conclusion that could convince herself. Besides, calling them memories didn’t seem quite reasonable, both herself in the memories and in the painting were clearly older than she was now, how could she possibly have memories from the future…

“Could this be me foreseeing the future?” After thinking about those fantasy movies she had watched, Jiang Ruhua finally found a reason that could explain it, it was something she saw that would happen in the future.

That is to say, if those two people were really Xia Ruoming and her, she would truly become a mature and steady career woman in the future, and be with Xia Ruoming?

Thinking of this, Jiang Ruhua couldn’t help but smile. In those scenes in her mind, Xia Ruoming was clearly dependent on her, indicating that at some point, Xia Ruoming had agreed to her deal.

“Hmph~ I told you so, there’s nothing I want that I can’t get, Xia Ruoming, you’re no exception.” Jiang Ruhua, having “analyzed” it for herself, was feeling quite proud at this moment.

Although learning that Xia Ruoming would be with her in the future made her very happy, that happiness was like getting a hidden edition doll she had always wanted.

But there was still one thing that troubled her.

If this was really something that would happen in the future, why would Xia Ruoming draw it? If Xia Ruoming could also foresee the future, then why would she reject her? Wasn’t this something that would definitely happen?

Moreover, while the scenes showed sweet daily life, why did she always feel particularly heartbroken whenever she saw new scenes or when she looked at Xia Ruoming’s painting…

Xia Ruoming carefully reviewed her artwork, only smiling with satisfaction after confirming there were no flaws, and began tidying up the various art supplies scattered on the wooden table beside her.

She only smiled when she was satisfied with her work. Although Xia Ruoming had a gentle personality, she would become inexplicably irritable and angry when creating works. Many times she would get angry at her own works, and had often torn up novels she had spent months creating. Although Xia Ruoming didn’t know when she developed this habit, it seemed she couldn’t change it.

So in her previous life, she had also told those around her not to disturb her when she was painting or writing.

Seeing Xia Ruoming’s smile, Jiang Ruhua unconsciously covered her face and smiled too, but by this time she had been standing too long, her legs had almost no strength left, and the moment her hand moved away from the wall, she fell straight to the ground.

“Little princess, what are you doing here?” Hearing the movement behind her, Xia Ruoming knew who it was without turning around, Xiao Qinghan would never do such sneaking around.

“None of your business, this broken house is so small, I just happened to come here while walking around, is it not allowed to look when I see someone inside?” Jiang Ruhua refused to admit she was looking for where Xia Ruoming had gone, and could only stubbornly tough it out.

“Little princess, I’m of humble fortune and shallow fate, unable to live in such a nice house. If my small temple cannot accommodate you, you’re free to leave.” Xia Ruoming rolled up her painting and turned to leave.

It was then that Xia Ruoming noticed Jiang Ruhua was already sitting on the ground, and in her moment of distraction, the painting roll in her hand also fell.

“Oh my, little princess, there’s no need for such grand gesture, I haven’t done anything deserving of your courtesy.” Xia Ruoming discreetly picked up the painting roll and put it aside, then went to help the little princess up.

Xia Ruoming didn’t want the little princess to know she could still disturb her heart.

“If you didn’t speak, you’d really be a good woman.” Jiang Ruhua said dissatisfied after being found another opportunity to be mocked by Xia Ruoming.

“If little princess was a bit more mature, she would also be a good woman.” Without minding Jiang Ruhua’s sharp tongue, Xia Ruoming replied calmly.

Perhaps because she had dreamed of her previous life again, Xia Ruoming’s mood seemed very low. She was absent-minded while helping Jiang Ruhua back to her room, and almost fell together with Jiang Ruhua.
