Chapter 88: Recruiting the Core Member

***

He originally thought these would at most be some imaginative ideas, at best just drawing a grand blueprint, but Xia Ruoming had already planned out in detail how to actually develop it.

After a long while, Li Wuya finally finished reading that stack of documents, but his tightly knitted brows remained unfurrowed.

“Did you come up with all this by yourself, junior?” Li Wuya asked.

“Not entirely, I just had the idea,” Xia Ruoming shrugged, “I have my own company called Qinghan Culture, currently managed by Sister Qinghan, and most of the detailed content was completed by her.”

Li Wuya nodded, but his expression still seemed very hesitant, because he understood very well that those people who refused him in the past had their reasons, this kind of project wasn’t something that could be easily handled by one person.

“Let me ask you something, junior, and I’m not trying to discourage you, but I’m quite interested in this project. Could you answer a few questions honestly?”

“Go ahead and ask, senior.”

“Junior, you want to make an all-ages short video platform that combines livestreaming and social networking, right?”

“That’s correct,” Xia Ruoming nodded.

“I won’t ask much about venue and personnel issues, since you say you have your own company, you should have already prepared for that aspect. But regarding servers, it’s not that I don’t trust you, but you must understand that if this project is to become popular and grow big, it will eventually need more server resources than Shark TV. You must understand this, right?”

“Don’t worry, senior. As long as you agree to join Qinghan Culture, the server issue will be resolved within a week,” Xia Ruoming said calmly. Although the source of her confidence was unknown, that inexplicable confidence seemed to inspire Li Wuya.

“Alright, maybe what you’re saying is true. But you should also know that traffic costs aren’t cheap right now, though it probably won’t be long before they come down. During this period, what you call Raspberry is only truly attractive on PC, isn’t forcing App development a bit rushed? Before traffic prices come down, the money you’ll spend maintaining the App side could be astronomical. After all, you’re still a student, even if your family provides funding, it must be limited.”

After much consideration, Li Wuya expressed his real concerns.

“It’s fine, I have money to burn,” Xia Ruoming smiled. “As long as we ensure our App is the first of its kind to launch, money isn’t an issue.”

“Besides, I have quite a few other projects in hand, mostly games. Once they’re made, money will keep flowing in.”

Li Wuya was stunned listening to this. Could the junior before him be a genius? Not only did she design this video platform that aligned with his vision, but she also had many games she believed would be huge hits. Most games were actually extremely costly to develop, and many people had lost their entire investments. At this time, there weren’t particularly many of those trashy mobile games from the future, with their copy-paste, cash-grab, and run tactics.

Seeing Li Wuya’s shocked expression, Xia Ruoming didn’t show any pride or boastfulness, because those projects of hers weren’t actually her original creations. Like the once-popular card games that were directly copied from abroad by domestic companies in the future, since she had been reborn, she might as well take the first step.

Moreover, single-player games could only sell for a time, the real money-makers were games like Japanese mahjong with 2D elements that sold skins and accessories, or some real AAA titles.

But those things required a lot of original artwork and models to support, and with just her alone now, it was still too troublesome. Additionally, the AAA audience wasn’t as large as in the future, and she still remembered clearly how someone named Nojiri Shinta from K company made the AAA title “Immortal” and then just disappeared from the gaming circle…

Then Xia Ruoming took out another document from her shoulder bag. Unlike the documents organized by Xiao Qinghan, this document seemed very straightforward, roughly recording the gameplay of 【Slay the Spire】 and 【White Book】. Unlike the Raspberry project which was just a blueprint, these two projects’ documents even recorded the completed underlying code and her hand-drawn drafts.

Li Wuya didn’t understand much about game projects, but from Xia Ruoming’s description, he still learned about her terrifyingly ambitious plans. These highly innovative games were just consumables and stepping stones, merely for accumulating funds.

“So, what do you think? Senior, want to join forces with me?” Xia Ruoming extended her hand to Li Wuya again.

“After everything you’ve said, do I even have the option to refuse?” Li Wuya gave a bitter smile, shook hands with Xia Ruoming, and refilled both their glasses. Having graduated for 5 years, he too had longed to fulfill his dreams, but each attempt had ended in nothing.

Now that he finally had a chance, how could he easily give up? Xia Ruoming had also promised that besides the annual salary written in the contract, she would additionally give him 10% of the game project revenue and 5% of the Raspberry project revenue, not profit, but revenue.

After clinking glasses, a cup of cold alcohol went down, representing the reaching of their agreement.

“Senior, when you have time, give this number a call,” Xia Ruoming passed over a note with Xiao Qinghan’s work phone number on it. “Just give your name and tell her Xia Ruoming referred you, she’ll understand. We haven’t decided on the company location in Hangzhou yet, so there’s no rush for you to start work. Sister Qinghan will notify you when we need you, and your salary will still be calculated during this period.”

“Alright.”

Li Wuya quietly tucked away the note, though his heart wasn’t as calm as his exterior suggested. Having almost given up on his dreams, he suddenly saw hope again. Only he could understand that feeling of excitement mixed with past bitterness.

“However, the money won’t be necessary. I, Li Wuya, am not one to take handouts. Wait until I officially start working before calculating my salary,” Li Wuya waved his hand after speaking. He didn’t like accepting charity, though he knew it was meant as a sign of respect.

“Senior, this small matter…”

“Junior, don’t you know my personality? When I say I don’t want it, I won’t take it. If junior keeps insisting, I might have to get upset,” Li Wuya promptly interrupted Xia Ruoming’s words while putting on a somewhat displeased expression. Seeing this, Xia Ruoming didn’t persist. In her previous life, she knew Li Wuya was a person of extreme principle. The reason she had proposed such conditions was just to win him over.

When leaving, Li Wuya forcefully gave Xia Ruoming a 30-year-old bottle of Singleton. Rather than a kind boss, he definitely preferred having a friend who could appreciate fine wine. Xia Ruoming declined several times but eventually accepted it helplessly, actually, Xia Ruoming barely knew how to drink whiskey, whether in her previous life in high society or now.

After leaving the small bar, Xia Ruoming immediately called Xiao Qinghan to inform her about Li Wuya’s situation.

Not long after, an unknown call also rang on Xiao Qinghan’s phone…
