Chapter 65: Luo Qingxuan’s Hostility
***
“Little princess, do you have time today? Would you like to honor me with your presence at Starry Sky Cafe in the commercial district? I have something to give you as well.”
After Jiang Ruhua called last time, Xia Ruoming had already saved her number.
“Hey, Xia Ruoming, I told you not to call me little princess!” The voice from the other end seemed somewhat exasperated.
“Alright, alright, little princess, so do you have time?” Xia Ruoming’s tone was very languid, like a cat that had just woken up.
“You got lucky! Others can’t even get an appointment with me! Send me the address.” Jiang Ruhua said on the other end.
After looking at the address sent in the text message, Jiang Ruhua’s luxury car left Jinjiang Hotel and quickly arrived at the cafe Xia Ruoming mentioned.
Starry Sky was a romantic French-style cafe with only three female employees. Velvet curtains paired with crystal chandeliers created an atmosphere that was beyond reproach. Unfortunately, this cafe would close down not long after.
As soon as Jiang Ruhua entered, she saw Xia Ruoming sitting in a corner, eyes half-closed, enjoying her dessert.
“Xia Ruoming, if you wanted to meet me, you could’ve picked a better cafe. What kind of place is this! The high-end cafes in Tongzilin area would’ve been much better.” After sitting down next to Xia Ruoming, Jiang Ruhua complained with some dissatisfaction.
After taking another sip of coffee, Xia Ruoming finally opened her eyes to look at Jiang Ruhua and pushed a dessert towards her.
“Don’t rush, little princess. Although this place might not look as luxurious, their desserts are exceptional, especially the recommended chocolate velvet cake.”
Seeing Jiang Ruhua’s eyes starting to sparkle, Xia Ruoming laughed inwardly.
The little princess was still the same as in her previous life, loving chocolate velvet cake and wearing all her emotions on her face.
“Hmph, then I’ll forgive you.” Jiang Ruhua gave a light snort, using a small fork to cut off a piece of cake and slowly savor it.
“Senior!” A familiar call rang out, and Luo Qingxuan gave Xia Ruoming a big hug from behind, “Senior, why are you here?”
“Qingxuan? Why are you here too? I’m meeting a friend here.” After speaking, Xia Ruoming pointed to Jiang Ruhua beside her.
“This cafe belongs to my family!” Luo Qingxuan smiled, looking sweet and lovable, “Senior, how do you like the desserts I made?”
“You made these?” Xia Ruoming cut a small piece of strawberry cake with her fork and held it to Luo Qingxuan’s lips, “It’s very delicious, try some yourself.”
Luo Qingxuan blushed as she took the cake in her mouth, thinking to herself whether this counted as an indirect kiss with her senior.
As she was about to say something else, she finally noticed Jiang Ruhua still enjoying her chocolate velvet cake on the side.
Xia Ruoming clearly saw that when Luo Qingxuan’s gaze fell on Jiang Ruhua’s face, for just an instant, it changed to an expression of extreme hostility, as if they had an irreconcilable grudge.
Xia Ruoming knew that Luo Qingxuan liked her, but Luo Qingxuan had never shown such an expression towards either Chu Suhe or Xu Fengwu.
But it was only revealed for that instant, after which Luo Qingxuan returned to her usual gentle countenance.
At that moment, Jiang Ruhua also inexplicably felt a chill down her spine, as if someone was staring at her from the shadows, and she had just realized this fact. When she raised her head to look around, she didn’t notice anything unusual.
“Well then, Senior, please enjoy yourself. I need to get back to work.” After curtseying with her dress, Luo Qingxuan returned to her role as cafe manager like a proper lady.
Not noticing Luo Qingxuan’s somewhat strange expression, Jiang Ruhua called her back to order a coffee.
“Why did you ask me to come here, Xia Ruoming?” After the coffee was delivered from the counter, Jiang Ruhua picked up her coffee cup and asked with some confusion.
Could Uncle Zhou have worked so quickly that Xia Ruoming had already spent the 4 million?
If so, that would really be great!
Xia Ruoming smiled, picked up her shoulder bag beside her, took out a bank card, and handed it to Jiang Ruhua.
“Little princess, there’s 10 million inside, the password is your birthday,” Xia Ruoming said softly, “I don’t have the capabilities like you, little princess, to transfer such large amounts of money, so after you transfer the money from this card, just return it to me. Now I’ve won our bet, and we’re even. Little princess, don’t say things about keeping me anymore.”
Jiang Ruhua nearly dropped her coffee cup on the floor.
In less than a month, Xia Ruoming had turned 4 million into 10 million, even under her full efforts to prevent it with all her connections.
She didn’t even know what Xia Ruoming had invested in or what business she had done.
For someone without connections, turning 4 million into 10 million in a month — did you take the 4 million to buy weapons and rob Morgan Chase?
“What’s wrong? Little princess, if you don’t believe me, you can check at the bank later,” Xia Ruoming saw Jiang Ruhua’s daze and tilted her head to give her a playful smile.
“How do you know my birthday?” Jiang Ruhua didn’t respond to Xia Ruoming’s words but raised an eyebrow and asked coolly.
“Want to guess?” Xia Ruoming winked and made a shushing gesture.
“Never mind if you won’t tell me.” Seeing that Xia Ruoming had no intention of telling her, Jiang Ruhua picked up her bag and stood up to leave.
Before leaving the cafe’s entrance, Jiang Ruhua turned back and said coldly to Xia Ruoming: “Xia Ruoming, you won this time, but I won’t give up. One day I will have you.”
Though her voice wasn’t loud, Starry Sky Cafe wasn’t large either, so it naturally attracted quite a few glances.
Many female customers had stars in their eyes — was this some scene of a domineering female CEO confessing to her beloved girl? Could they watch this for free?
Luo Qingxuan silently mixed cocktails behind the counter, and no one noticed her glancing at Jiang Ruhua with disgust.
After Jiang Ruhua left, Luo Qingxuan walked back to Xia Ruoming’s side.
“What is it? Is Qingxuan feeling lonely? Want to have coffee together?” Seeing Luo Qingxuan return to her side, Xia Ruoming teased while raising her coffee cup.
“Senior, who was that person…” Luo Qingxuan’s expression was strange as she asked Xia Ruoming in a lowered voice.
“A friend, um… the eldest daughter of the Jiang family, perhaps you know her too.”
“Jiang Ruhua?”
“Seems like Qingxuan knows her, so I don’t need to waste time introducing.” Saying this, Xia Ruoming took another sip of coffee.
“…”
Hearing Xia Ruoming’s answer, Luo Qingxuan suddenly fell silent.
“What’s wrong, Qingxuan?” Seeing Luo Qingxuan like this, and remembering the slightly hateful look from earlier, Xia Ruoming couldn’t help but ask.
“Senior, there are many people in this world who like you, and plenty who are worthy of you. Senior, you’re really talented, you don’t have to be with her…” Luo Qingxuan spoke softly, saying things that seemed to make no sense.
“Maybe you won’t believe me, Senior, but being with her won’t lead to anything good… you might even end up very miserable… Even if it’s Xu Fengwu, even if it’s Chu Suhe, I can accept it, but I can’t accept you being with her…”
Xia Ruoming tapped Luo Qingxuan’s forehead with her hand, saying with a mix of amusement and exasperation: “What are you thinking, silly? When did I ever say I was going to be with Jiang Ruhua? I really don’t know what’s going on in that little head of yours.”
“That’s good… Senior.” Luo Qingxuan seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, while moving away from Xia Ruoming’s seat, saying in a barely audible voice, “I hope Senior will always think this way, I truly hope Senior can have a better life…”
Under Xia Ruoming’s puzzled gaze, Luo Qingxuan said something else to herself that no one could hear.
“Thank goodness, as long as it’s not her…”
