Chapter 3: Really Don’t Like You Anymore, Stop Playing Games
***
Xia Ruoming really didn’t want to be reborn. To be honest, if talking about regrets, there might be some, but if talking about things from her previous life she wanted to make up for, she really didn’t have any. Many things were consequences of her own actions, and there weren’t any dramatic storylines that could be blamed on fate being beyond human control.
She felt she had received enough punishment in her mortal life, and there was no need to torture her for another lifetime.
But she was reborn anyway, reborn right in her classroom, at the moment when Bai Qianyu was confessing to her! Yesterday, she had just failed in her own confession, her hair a tangled mess, face sallow, looking like an idiot who had just woken up from being drunk, it could be said she had completely embarrassed herself. How could her past self be so stupid? Torturing herself just because she was rejected, was something wrong with her brain?
How did she end up chasing after Xu Fengwu for so many years? Others had already said they didn’t like her, told her to get lost, was her past self perhaps too desperate, just looking for suffering?
Damn, if her admiring junior schoolmates saw her in this state, wouldn’t their world come crashing down?
Xia Ruoming looked at Xu Fengwu sitting in her seat and smiled with acceptance. Xu Fengwu thought she was smiling at her again and immediately turned her head to the other side.
If this were some novel world, she might have been able to turn the tables on Xu Fengwu.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t the protagonist of some novel, and in this new life, she had no plans for any so-called revenge against Xu Fengwu.
In the following 20 years, she had already let go, at least on the surface…
Her heart was made of sand. If it only had cracks, it would only need water to stick the fallen sand back together, easy to repair. But if the heart started to fall apart completely, even finding all the fallen sand would be difficult…
Later, a girl named Jiang Ruhua taught her something, when people are from different social classes, it ends up being just dating, not love, because from the beginning your worldviews were different.
Xia Ruoming covered her right eye with her hand, using her left eye to look at the junior student in front of her, then her nose stung as she almost cried.
In the future, she would lose one eye forever protecting Xu Fengwu. At that moment, Xu Fengwu was truly moved, but that was all, just being moved.
Perhaps many things she did had truly touched Xu Fengwu before, but those were only fleeting moments.
In her life, she was just a passerby who could disappear at any time.
Bai Qianyu seemed to catch a glimpse of tears in Xia Ruoming’s eyes and thought Xia Ruoming was truly touched and about to accept her confession, eagerly looking at her senior with anticipation.
“Sigh…” Xia Ruoming let out a soft breath, then looked at the still youthfully innocent girl before her.
“I’m sorry, I can’t accept your confession,” she looked apologetically into Bai Qianyu’s eyes.
Xu Fengwu, sitting in her seat, saw this scene and just sneered. Although she had no intention of accepting Xia Ruoming, it was ridiculous for this little girl to think she could just steal her away.
The whole world knew that Xia Ruoming only liked Xu Fengwu, and even though Xu Fengwu had never accepted Xia Ruoming, Xia Ruoming would still stick to her like glue.
Xia Ruoming was very beautiful, in the past she was no less attractive than the school beauty Xu Fengwu, but recently, after Xu Fengwu rejected her confession, she had made herself look haggard with a sallow complexion and messy hair.
No one knew why Xia Ruoming liked Xu Fengwu so much. She had many pursuers, including stunningly beautiful girls and gentle, virtuous classmates, but Xia Ruoming insisted on liking Xu Fengwu who had a terrible personality.
Perhaps in the words of Xia Ruoming from her past life, it was love at first sight.
“Why?” Bai Qianyu immediately put on a teary-eyed expression, “Is it because of Senior Xu?”
Xia Ruoming froze for a moment, then patted Bai Qianyu’s head, shaking her head gently.
“No, not anymore,” she whispered in Bai Qianyu’s ear, her voice full of melancholy and sadness.
“What?” Bai Qianyu looked confused, as if not understanding what Xia Ruoming meant.
Xia Ruoming didn’t care whether Bai Qianyu understood her meaning or not, she walked straight past Bai Qianyu towards the door, then waved to a corner.
“Ji Chuan, aren’t you coming? Planning to spend New Year here?” Xia Ruoming’s blunt voice came through.
“Coming, coming, idiot, in such a hurry to attend your funeral? Yesterday still…” A boy with medium-short hair in the corner pushed off the desk and jumped out, originally wanting to retort, but suddenly remembered that Xia Ruoming had just been rejected yesterday, and regretfully slapped himself twice.
But Xia Ruoming suddenly laughed, leaving Ji Chuan stunned.
“Holy crap!” Ji Chuan felt his own forehead, then felt Xia Ruoming’s forehead, “No fever? How did a perfectly normal person go crazy? Did yesterday’s shock hit too hard? Sis, you’re already bad enough at gaming, if you go crazy won’t you end up with a 0/14/0 K/D/A on DOTA? Should we go to the hospital?”
“Go to hell,” Xia Ruoming was cursing at Ji Chuan, but laughing even harder.
It’s good to have a true friend to banter with. Her past self was really stupid, after her breakup, only Ji Chuan came to comfort her, but she found him annoying and even blocked him.
In her life after that, she never again met a good friend like Ji Chuan who she could talk about anything with.
Their mothers, Liu Ruoxue and Zhong Hui, had a relationship similar to sworn sisters, and both families had always been close, so Ji Chuan and Xia Ruoming had known each other since childhood and often jokingly referred to each other as brother and sister. Ji Chuan had always been unruly since middle school, despite having talent, he completely disliked studying. Being able to come to this high school was largely thanks to Xia Ruoming’s tutoring. At that time, she was already overwhelmed trying to follow Xu Fengwu to this high school, but she still made time to tutor this “sworn brother” who had played with her since childhood.
“Sis, listen to my advice, that Xu Fengwu doesn’t like you at all. So many people in school are pursuing you, why do you have to hang yourself on just one tree?” After leaving the classroom, Ji Chuan said softly to Xia Ruoming in the corridor. Though he appeared carefree on the surface, he actually cared deeply about his “sworn sister” feelings. If she really planned to continue pursuing Xu Fengwu, it wouldn’t be good for these words to reach others’ ears, so he spoke just loud enough for the two of them to barely hear.
“Okay, I’ll listen to you,” Xia Ruoming slapped Ji Chuan’s shoulder somewhat forcefully, making him wince in pain.
“Though she… um… huh? Huh??” Ji Chuan was dumbfounded, forgetting about the pain in his shoulder as his whole person froze, “What… what did you say?”
“Didn’t your sis just say she’ll listen to you? I won’t chase her anymore.”
“Maybe we both have a fever, so I can’t feel it?” Ji Chuan felt his own and Xia Ruoming’s foreheads again. He would rather believe he had a fever than believe this was true.
Last night she was still drunk and acting wild, throwing and smashing bottles everywhere, telling Ji Chuan to get lost and not bother her. Even hiding outside trying to persuade her, he could hear the crashing sounds, she was crying, drinking, and smashing things all at once.
Ji Chuan really couldn’t believe someone could change so much in one night.
“Sis, are… are you serious?” Ji Chuan asked carefully, “When you were drunk last night you were crying and saying things like ‘why doesn’t Xu Fengwu belong to you’… uh…”
Xia Ruoming looked embarrassed, damn, how could her past self be so stupid?
