Chapter 140: The Story and Reality (Part 3)

***

“What I saw before were just fragments of memories, and even the scenes were very blurry. But this time, I saw the complete process of many stories crystal clear.”

“I could even… hear the inner thoughts of the people in the story.”

“When that chestnut-haired woman called out the blue-haired woman’s name ‘Xia Ruoming’, I was truly stunned. Although I was mentally prepared, when I heard that woman was really Xia Ruoming, I still couldn’t remain calm as if I were prepared.”

“And Xia Ruoming also called out that chestnut-haired woman’s nickname ‘little princess’.”

“At that moment, I finally understood the whole story. In this story, Xia Ruoming accepted my request to be my kept woman, and I helped her get what she wanted most, just as I promised.”

“Money, power, and even all priceless things in the world, I could give these to her as long as she was willing to be my lover.”

“But I, for some reason… perhaps out of jealousy, perhaps out of groundless unease…” Jiang Ruhua suddenly bit her lip, as if the following words were difficult to say, “The me in the story felt Xia Ruoming was very cold towards her. Even though the me in the story liked Xia Ruoming, she only treated everything as a transaction, and even had a slight tendency to distance herself.”

“So the me in the story decided to punish her a little, taking back the glory she had brought to Xia Ruoming. That me wanted her to know that everything she had now was given by others, not earned by her own ability. Her glory was all dependent on what she got from me, without me she was nothing.”

At this point in the story, Luo Qingxuan was stunned again, this wasn’t quite what she had thought. Is this all?

She knew her senior’s personality and believed that her senior definitely hadn’t betrayed Jiang Ruhua. Everything happened because of Jiang Ruhua herself, leading her senior to become like that, but there should always be a reason, at least one that could convince oneself.

Luo Qingxuan could never understand what exactly could make Jiang Ruhua want to completely destroy her senior. If it was just throwing a tantrum, Luo Qingxuan could understand, but with her senior’s gentle personality, it would be impossible for her to do something that would make others hate her to this extent.

When she learned the reason at this moment, Luo Qingxuan found it somewhat laughable. The answer she had pursued for so many years in her previous life turned out to be so simple, just because of Jiang Ruhua’s childish temperament?

It seems people rarely get nicknames wrong, calling you little princess wasn’t a mistake at all.

“In the end, this could also be considered a form of revenge.”

“But the me in the story was terribly wrong. She didn’t know that Xia Ruoming had actually developed feelings for her and became that way because she wanted to avoid this abnormal relationship. Xia Ruoming felt that she and I couldn’t be considered lovers, nor could we become lovers. That me couldn’t put down her proud demeanor to actively say such things. And Xia Ruoming also tried hard to avoid this question, which led to the final outcome.”

“Being able to hear thoughts, I naturally could understand these things, but the people involved could never know…”

“It’s laughable when you think about it, if one side had spoken up, would the ending have been different…”

“The me in the story thought Xia Ruoming would come back begging to her, after all, it was she who had corrupted Xia Ruoming with a world of luxury and pleasure. Human nature is always greedy, she thought Xia Ruoming couldn’t let go of all this, that Xia Ruoming would come back someday. That me wanted to use this method to properly control Xia Ruoming, to keep Xia Ruoming by her side forever.”

“But Xia Ruoming didn’t do that. Like a proud, pedantic scholar, she left behind everything I had given her, taking nothing with her. Whether it was money or clothes, even the phone I bought her was left at home with the SIM card removed. Then she disappeared from that story-me’s life, never appearing again.”

“Xia Ruoming hid very well. She would rather drink canned beer and buy disgusting discounted bento boxes near their expiration date than look back, she never even had the thought of doing so.”

“Even at such times, she never blamed me. She felt that since the patron had grown tired of her, taking back the mistress’s things was only natural. Xia Ruoming even felt lucky to have met the me in the story; rather than feeling the pain of losing these things, she felt more regret, guilt, and gratitude.”

“So that’s how it was…” Luo Qingxuan murmured, as if understanding something.

She had hated Jiang Ruhua for many years, mainly because Jiang Ruhua had taken everything away from her senior. A patron growing tired of their mistress, kicking the mistress away, and wanting to take back everything previously given to the mistress, what kind of villain does this?

Even freeloaders weren’t this excessive.

After hearing Jiang Ruhua’s story today, she finally knew that everything had been her senior’s own choice. Even though she had succumbed to fate and chosen to be kept by Jiang Ruhua, she had never lost her pride.

Since Jiang Ruhua chose to abandon her, then everything based on their transaction lost its meaning, and that still-proud senior would certainly not accept things that seemed like charity.

These things, her senior had never told her in her previous life.

“Xia Ruoming also hid very well, never letting me find her again.”

“In the story, when I saw Xia Ruoming again, it was already when she had passed away, her face no longer had the vitality of the living. At that time, she still had Xia Ruoming in her heart, and before her death, Xia Ruoming had also been thinking of her, neither of them had ever let go of each other… Before her death, Xia Ruoming still thought it was regrettable that she couldn’t reconcile with little princess.”

“Understanding that Xia Ruoming would never wake up again, I could only follow Xia Ruoming’s last wishes and buried her in Wei Jiang Cemetery.”

“Now you understand, right? This is the whole story, and also why I said you are someone who has returned to the past. Originally, I thought it was an ability to foresee the future, but I found that the beginning of the story I saw was very different from now, until I saw you, then I knew this might be a story that truly happened.” Jiang Ruhua took a sip of coffee to moisten her throat before speaking softly to Luo Qingxuan.

“The story is indeed fascinating, and I’m willing to believe everything you said is true, but what does all this have to do with me? I really don’t know about these things.” Luo Qingxuan still didn’t plan to admit she indeed came from the future. Her memories were scattered, not as clear as Jiang Ruhua, and according to Jiang Ruhua’s words, Jiang Ruhua should only have remembered things from her previous life, not being someone from the future, so she shouldn’t know about her affairs with An Jinrou.

“Luo Qingxuan, I have to say, you’re indeed a master at playing dumb.” Jiang Ruhua smiled slightly, just as she met Luo Qingxuan’s smiling face.
