Chapter 112: I’m Losing Weight, You Should Eat More

***

No matter how much Xiao Qinghan stared at Chu Suhe with that exasperated look, Chu Suhe remained motionless, just standing there like a puppet.

Xia Ruoming hadn’t noticed the change between the two and was about to taste Chu Suhe’s cooking when Xiao Qinghan directly tapped Xia Ruoming’s hand with her chopsticks, making her pull back her hand in pain.

“Did you wash your hands before eating? Go wash them first.” That voice was exactly like Xia Ruoming’s mother Liu Ruoxue, bringing back some unpleasant memories.

Giving Xiao Qinghan a slightly resentful look, Xia Ruoming still obediently went to the kitchen to wash her hands.

When she returned, she directly broke off a piece of coral fish and dipped it in some sauce, savoring it carefully in her mouth.

Apart from the amateur knife skills, the taste was truly exceptional. It was fried to perfection, barely different from Chef Wang Gang’s work. The sauce had been changed from ketchup to Italian meat sauce, and she had to admit it suited her taste perfectly. Getting excited, Xia Ruoming ate several more fish strips.

“Sister Qinghan, you should try Susu’s cooking too. It’s delicious, especially this coral fish improved with Italian sauce. I think it tastes even better than the ketchup version.” While speaking, Xia Ruoming broke off a fish strip and used a bowl to prevent the sauce from dripping onto the floor, bringing the fish strip to Xiao Qinghan’s mouth.

Xiao Qinghan hesitated and glanced at Chu Suhe, who was still standing nearby. She wondered if it would be appropriate to accept Xia Ruoming’s feeding while Chu Suhe was there.

After hesitating for a moment, seeing that Chu Suhe had no reaction, Xiao Qinghan accepted Xia Ruoming’s feeding and obediently ate the fish strip.

“Mmm… delicious!” When Xiao Qinghan ate the coral fish strip, her eyes seemed to light up. “Little Suhe, did you make this?”

Chu Suhe stood to the side, quietly nodding, “Yes… I’ve never made it before, just tried it today…”

“It’s so delicious. Can you teach me? Would you like to cook together with me in the future, little Suhe? I’d like to learn some of your dishes.”

“Su-sure, as long as Sister Qinghan doesn’t mind me getting in the way in the kitchen…” Chu Suhe continued clutching the edge of her apron with her small hands, saying somewhat nervously. She had heard from Xia Ruoming that Xiao Qinghan was a great cook and worried she would only be a hindrance if they cooked together.

Looking at this somewhat silly and self-deprecating girl, Xiao Qinghan felt an urge to hug her and tell her that she was truly excellent. She also seemed to understand why Xia Ruoming liked this previously unremarkable girl.

After adjusting her thoughts, Xiao Qinghan said with a gentle smile, “Not at all. Little Suhe’s cooking is so delicious, how could you be a hindrance?”

Perhaps even Xiao Qinghan didn’t know that it was because of this request she made today that would later allow her and Chu Suhe to open their hearts to each other and occasionally exchange “experiences.”

“Hm? Susu, why are you still standing there? Come eat with us!” Seeing Chu Suhe still standing there, Xia Ruoming pulled her over directly and had her sit in the seat next to her.

Chu Suhe was stunned for a moment before asking quietly, “Is it really okay… for me to eat with you?”

She had thought her position in this home was just like a housekeeper, at most like a medieval maid… After all, she wasn’t really Xia Ruoming’s girlfriend, and couldn’t expect Xia Ruoming to be nice to her. What maid would eat with their master…

It must be said that Chu Suhe was truly overthinking things. This question even confused Xia Ruoming, who couldn’t immediately figure out what was going through Chu Suhe’s mind.

After realizing what was happening, Xia Ruoming felt even more sympathy for this little fool. Even if they weren’t lovers, they could still be friends! Little fool, what are you thinking, don’t always belittle yourself like this!

“Of course you can, Susu.” Xia Ruoming ruffled Chu Suhe’s hair. “Not just this time, but you should eat with us from now on, okay?”

“Oh…” Chu Suhe obediently nodded.

Chu Suhe picked up her bowl and chopsticks, served herself some white rice, and ate in small bites next to Xia Ruoming.

She seemed to be eating with good appetite, which initially made Xia Ruoming feel relieved, thinking Chu Suhe was finally eating properly. However, after a while, Xia Ruoming noticed that Chu Suhe barely took any dishes, just forcing down white rice with a bit of fish soup. Even when she did take dishes, she only took some vegetable side dishes. She had almost finished the green onions from the sea cucumber dish, but barely touched any meat.

Upon discovering this, Xia Ruoming immediately understood that Chu Suhe was acting like before, only eating the cheaper items unless forced, not wanting to take advantage of her. In that moment, Xia Ruoming felt both annoyed and amused.

She directly picked up the plates of dishes and started putting various meat dishes in Chu Suhe’s bowl, not caring that it was piling up like a mountain about to collapse.

“Ruo-Ruoming, I can’t eat this much, you don’t have to…” Seeing Xia Ruoming adding so many dishes to her bowl when she hadn’t eaten much, Chu Suhe hastily spoke up.

“Hmm… I’m trying to lose weight lately, so I can’t eat too many greasy things. Susu needs to help me eat more. After all, our refrigerator is for fresh ingredients, not leftover food. Leftover food makes the fridge smell too strong. If Susu can’t finish it, we’ll have to throw it in the garbage bin later.” Xia Ruoming continued adding dishes to Chu Suhe’s bowl while speaking.

Xiao Qinghan was still wondering when their refrigerator had stopped storing leftover food when she noticed that Chu Suhe hadn’t eaten much of the dishes, and almost laughed out loud.

My goodness, how can someone be so adorable?

Chu Suhe turned her head away, took a deep breath, and her eyes instantly filled with tears, the surroundings turning red.

Xia Ruoming had previously said her appetite was big and asked her to cook more food. Now she was saying she was trying to lose weight and couldn’t eat much. Such contradictory statements were clearly lies, and there was only one purpose for telling this lie — simply wanting her to eat more.

Holding back her tears from falling, Chu Suhe quietly lowered her head and ate the dishes Xia Ruoming had added for her.

She had already secretly vowed in her heart that no matter what Xia Ruoming wanted her to do, she would do it, whether as a friend, a maid, or a shop assistant. She just wanted to repay Xia Ruoming’s kindness towards her.

Seeing Chu Suhe starting to eat the dishes obediently, Xia Ruoming and Xiao Qinghan also began eating their own meals, as they had both been taught that talking while eating wasn’t proper.

Soon all the dishes on the table were “cleared” away. Seeing Chu Suhe’s appetite almost scared Xiao Qinghan — she had eaten almost as much as Xia Ruoming and herself combined. How could this seemingly frail young girl eat so much…

After finishing her meal, Xia Ruoming grabbed two cans of cold draft beer and lay down on the sofa, starting her evening relaxation watching Korean dramas.
