Chapter 40 Compatibility

“Yuan Shiyuan, where are you?”

Bo Jin’s voice stone vanished into silence.

The shared location pinged nearby, clearly within reach, but he’d circled three times without spotting Yuan Shiyuan.

Suddenly, a cloyingly sweet Omega pheromone slid into his nostrils. Bo Jin frowned and was about to turn, when another, stronger Omega scent stealthily braided itself around the first, brazenly invading his senses.

He stopped dead, an unmistakable agitation rising in him.

As an Alpha, Bo Jin knew what that feeling meant. There was a high-level Omega in heat nearby, and the released pheromones were inducing him.

But he was S-rank, and he’d been getting suppression injections frequently—ordinary S-rank Omegas shouldn’t trigger such a strong reaction in him. For something to make him instantly restless like this, it could only mean…

The other’s compatibility with him was very high.

Bo Jin loathed that loss-of-control sensation when pheromones took over.

Yuan Shiyuan had been in the area earlier—had he run into an Omega in heat?

Bo Jin made several calls; all he got was a busy tone. He had thought about taking another suppressor, but in the end he shoved it back into his pocket.

He needed to save it for Yuan Shiyuan. Yuan’s susceptible-period reactions were mild; for an Alpha encountering a heat-state Omega, the induced response would be more intense.

Although his suppressors were specialized, in this situation it was just a matter of controlling the dose—no problem at all.

Rounding a corner, he noticed a small square tissue lying on the ground.

Bo Jin’s gaze fixed.

Yuan Shiyuan liked carrying little trinkets.

His intuition told him this was Yuan’s.

He bent to pick up the tissue; a trace of Omega pheromone lingered on it. As he moved forward, the scent grew stronger the closer he got to the restrooms.

His steps felt as though guided by invisible strings, and Bo Jin found himself walking into the innermost stall.

The door wasn’t fully closed—there was a gap. Rich Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon pheromone mixed with a soft, fresh Omega scent, weaving together in the air.

Jiang Heng? And… an Omega?

Bo Jin wasn’t interested in Jiang Heng’s private life; he meant to turn away.

But something odd made him call uncertainly, “Yuan Shiyuan?”

“…Hm?”

The voice from inside had a strong nasal tone.

The stall door slid open slowly, and the sight that met him made Bo Jin’s pupils contract.

He’d already considered the possibility that someone might be with Jiang Heng, but he never expected that the person in Jiang Heng’s arms would be Yuan Shiyuan!

The scene was surreal.

Yuan Shiyuan looked as if he’d been pulled from water, soaked through; his shirt clung to his slim waist, revealing some softness. One arm was wrapped tightly around his waist; a large hand pressed at his side, making his slender figure stand out.

Even though they were both Alphas, Yuan leaned submissively into Jiang Heng’s chest, his fingertips gripping the other’s collar, occasionally trembling and curling in on themselves.

The face beneath his pink hair was flushed and damp; exposed skin gleamed with a lush color. Even with his mind fuzzy, when he heard someone call his name he dimly turned his head, lips parting slightly.

“Bo… Jin?”

Bo Jin’s breath hitched.

What the hell?

How could an Alpha be like this?

When an Alpha is induced by Omega pheromones, he should go feral, all beast—thinking only of marking the Omega.

Not like Yuan Shiyuan now, eyes rimmed red, lips glossy and temptingly wet in a way that was almost too appealing.

“Why is he covered in Omega pheromones?”

“An Omega went into heat earlier and rubbed off on him.” Jiang Heng hesitated. But that was the only possibility; since just now they’d only encountered one Omega.

“Enough to make him react this strongly, to be dazed…” Bo Jin pondered, “Their compatibility with Yuan Shiyuan is very high.”

Bo Jin took out a suppressor and, just as he was about to place it against Yuan Shiyuan’s arm, Jiang Heng stopped him.

He looked up at Jiang Heng, who—protective as if guarding food—had wrapped Yuan Shiyuan in his arms.

He wouldn’t mistake that look: it was filled with fierce possessiveness and aggression. As if he were a male beast about to snatch a mate, warning flashing deep in his pupils.

“Your suppressor concentration is too high; he won’t tolerate it.” Jiang Heng’s voice was hoarse.

Bo Jin had a dedicated medical team that developed suppressors specifically for him; he’d even made a lot of money off suppressor patents. He injected himself almost every day—no one knew doses better than he did.

But looking at Yuan Shiyuan curled in Jiang Heng’s arms made him uncertain.

Yuan Shiyuan seemed different from other Alphas.

“Hand him over. We’re going to the hospital. You give him the suppressor.” Bo Jin tossed the suppressor, “Let go.”

Jiang Heng didn’t move; instead he drew Yuan Shiyuan tighter into his embrace.

The two S-rank Alphas’ pheromones clashed in the cramped space with crackling sparks, filling the air with a heavy, gunpowdery tension.

Bo Jin had recently taken sufficient suppressors and libido inhibitors; even though affected by Omega pheromones, he was at least lucid. Jiang Heng, however, had unfocused pupils, his gaze fixed on Yuan Shiyuan’s face as if he wanted to devour him whole.

“If you don’t let go, what are you trying to do?” Bo Jin demanded.

Jiang Heng was stunned for a moment. “I…”

“Let go.” Bo Jin warned again.

Yuan Shiyuan suddenly let out an unbearable whimper, pressing his hot forehead against Jiang Heng’s chest and nudging very lightly. Jiang Heng stiffened, then finally released him.

Bo Jin lifted Yuan Shiyuan face-to-face into his arms, one large hand supporting the base of his thighs, the other at his back, cradling him like a baby. The Alpha’s oversized coat wrapped down over Yuan Shiyuan from above; only a pair of small legs hung in front of the Alpha, swaying slightly with the movement.

“Send the driver a text.” Bo Jin glanced down, “Where are his shoes?”

“I don’t know.”

Jiang Heng injected a suppressor as he followed behind them. “Maybe they fell off somewhere. The driver is waiting in the parking lot.”

The partition inside the car rose slowly, but it couldn’t block the intensifying pheromones from the back.

Jiang Heng asked Bo Jin for another suppressor.

Bo Jin looked at him. “Mine’s concentrated.”

“I know.”

Since Jiang Heng didn’t care about side effects, Bo Jin didn’t either; he tossed the suppressor over.

The pheromones gradually faded, but Yuan Shiyuan remained restless. He tilted his head and sniffed Bo Jin repeatedly, frowning in dissatisfaction when he didn’t find the scent he wanted.

He suddenly flipped and sat on Bo Jin’s lap, pressing his face against the back of Bo Jin’s neck.

His nose was right against Bo Jin’s gland, hot breaths spraying over the most sensitive spot. Bo Jin’s pupils contracted; he didn’t even dare move.

“He took you for an Omega.” Jiang Heng’s voice was hoarse. “He did the same to me earlier—kept making me release pheromones.”

And he himself had acted like a fool: knowing the other was an Alpha, yet obeying the other’s command and endlessly releasing pheromones.

“Is this Omega that high-level? Able to affect the three of us S-ranks?”

Bo Jin didn’t know much about the company’s Omega artists, but he still found it strange. “Does the company have such a high-level Omega?”

Jiang Heng couldn’t say for sure. “He’s definitely not an ordinary S-rank.”

“So that’s why his reaction was so big,” Bo Jin said.

Bo Jin looked at the dazed Yuan Shiyuan and tugged at the corner of his mouth. “Well—he’s always liked Omegas.”

It really seemed their compatibility was that high; otherwise Yuan Shiyuan wouldn’t have lost all reason and mistaken an Alpha for an Omega!

Bo Jin’s expression hardened as he supported Yuan Shiyuan’s waist and darkly tore open a dose of libido suppressant.

Worried the syringe might accidentally hurt Yuan Shiyuan, Jiang Heng reached out and pulled him onto his lap. Yuan Shiyuan shifted to sit against Jiang Heng’s thigh, one lower leg still draped across Bo Jin’s.

When Bo Jin injected the suppressant, the syringe nicked his fingertip and a few beads of blood welled up. The pheromones released from that wound suddenly caught Yuan Shiyuan’s attention.

Yuan Shiyuan stared at Bo Jin’s hand, stunned, then grabbed Bo Jin’s wrist. Still seated on Jiang Heng’s leg and watched by both Alphas, he bowed his head and slowly took Bo Jin’s fingertip into his mouth.

Both Alphas’ pupils widened at once.

Although sitting on Jiang Heng’s lap, Yuan Shiyuan faced Bo Jin. He was polite about it—his licking of the blood was leisurely, as if savoring a delicate snack. His soft, wet tongue traced the finger, patiently licking the blood away bit by bit.

But that wasn’t enough; he greedily enclosed the fingertip and lightly sucked, producing sticky, wet sounds.

Bo Jin, who had been trying to stay calm, couldn’t help the muffled groan that escaped him then—his reason scattered like beads slipping from a broken string.

Jiang Heng’s expression went completely dark. He disliked that Yuan Shiyuan sat on his leg but paid attention to the other Alpha, so he pinched Yuan Shiyuan’s waist and turned him back.

“Ugh…”

When Yuan Shiyuan was turned, Bo Jin’s fingertip was still in his mouth. He looked up dazedly and collided with a pair of deep, obsidian eyes.

In front of the partition, the driver panicked. “What are you doing?!”

The partition blocked sight but not sound. The noise was just too odd—made the Beta’s scalp prickle!

If he remembered correctly, these were three Alphas, right? All S-rank from the same team!

“Nothing’s going on,” Jiang Heng said. “Can you drive any faster?”

The driver had already put the car to its top speed!

The pheromones in the car were so thick they wouldn’t dissipate; both S-rank Alphas’ breathing was off rhythm.

“Are you really an Alpha?” Bo Jin began to doubt.

He pinched Yuan Shiyuan’s face as if to make sure. Instead, Yuan Shiyuan raised his hand and punched Bo Jin straight in the face, knocking him off balance.

Bo Jin looked at him in disbelief.

Blood filled his mouth; the metallic smell spread between his teeth. He didn’t know whether to be angry or amused.

Quite lively, actually.

So maybe there wasn’t a big problem…

Bo Jin knew his doubt was unfounded—Yuan Shiyuan was certainly an Alpha, an S-rank like them. But Yuan Shiyuan’s current behavior didn’t look like an Alpha under an Omega’s influence.

He looked much more like an estrous, needy Omega who needed soothing.

Caught between them, Yuan Shiyuan’s eyes were slightly unfocused, showing a measure of satisfaction.

His legs were draped across the two Alphas; his heels absentmindedly rubbed the leather seat. His face was flushed, his mouth remained open, and the corners of his lips glistened with dampness.

Jiang Heng was silent for a moment, then wiped the moisture from his lips and, restraining himself, sniffed his fingertips.

After that, he cut his own finger and brought it to Yuan Shiyuan’s lips.

“……”

The car reached the hospital.

When Jiang Heng carried Yuan Shiyuan out of the car, the driver craned his head and glanced discreetly, then realized their clothes were intact.

He bowed his head in embarrassment—he had overthought it.

Bo Jin had contacted the hospital in advance and arranged the VIP channel; medical staff were already waiting at the entrance.

The attending physician on duty froze briefly when he saw the familiar pink-haired alpha, then immediately understood and turned to instruct the nurse behind him.

Bo Jin and Jiang Heng hurried along behind the stretcher and concisely explained what had happened: “A company Omega went into heat—he was likely induced. The other party’s rank is very high.”

The doctor glanced back at them, hesitated, then, wanting to protect patient privacy, said, “Understood.”

Once the ward door closed, Bo Jin and Jiang Heng finally exhaled.

They sat on a bench; after calming down, a belated, simmering heat rose between them.

Bo Jin bent forward, legs apart, fingers interlaced, elbows resting on his thighs. One hand covered the lower half of his face as if he were thinking.

Jiang Heng leaned against the back of the bench, silently sniffing his fingertips.

It was Yuan Shiyuan’s saliva.

Why… did it smell so good?

They knew it was perverse, but they couldn’t control their reactions. It was as if Yuan Shiyuan’s saliva had an irresistible pull on them.

Bo Jin: “Which Omega was it? From now on we should keep Yuan Shiyuan away from him—their compatibility is too high, too dangerous.”

Jiang Heng: “…I don’t know, I couldn’t see clearly.”

He’d been focused on Yuan Shiyuan and hadn’t been paying attention to anyone else.

“Never mind, ask the staff and we’ll find out.”

The work group chat had already exploded.

Zhuang He: What’s going on? I only took the twin brothers to shoot an ad—how did this happen? Is our little Shiyuan okay? Send a location, I’ll be there right away!

Jiang Heng: [location]

Pei Yanbing: On my way.

As for Ying Mingxi and Ying Mingche, they were probably still on the shoot and had no idea what was happening at the company.

Jiang Heng still felt something was off—Yuan Shiyuan’s reaction had seemed too extreme.

He’d never seen an Alpha respond like that after being induced by an Omega.

“Was it an Omega?”

“So beautiful.”

Consciousness warped and withdrew; time raced backward. Beside the welfare institute’s slide, a couple bent down smiling and reached out to pat a little boy’s head.

Even though the institute had limited resources, they still gave the children the best they could. A pale little leg peeked out from under the boy’s shorts; his clothes were tattered but he was clean from head to toe.

Hearing the couple, the boy looked startled.

“No…” He looked ashamed, fingers twisting his shirt hem, speaking very softly, “I’m an Alpha.”

The woman, an Omega, seemed surprised: “Alphas are great too.”

She crouched down, lowered her voice, and gently asked, “Would you like us to be your mom and dad?”

The little boy’s eyes widened. He was small, with a tiny face and big eyes. When he looked up, his lashes fluttered like a doll made of snow.

“I want to!” he answered quickly.

“How wonderful—we have a baby,” the Omega said, lifting him up. “What should we name you? You’re called Little Yuan, right?”

Children from the welfare institute were renamed after adoption, so they usually only had nicknames rather than real names. The boy’s nickname was Little Yuan because he’d had round eyes since he was little.

There was another reason: when he first arrived at the welfare institute, he had a safe-blessing charm on him with “YUAN” written on it.

The little boy’s new parents wanted to preserve that piece of his past.

“Let’s call him Shiyuan,” the Omega said, gently stroking the back of his head. “I hope that, no matter when, you’ll get what you wish for.”

“It’s just… why did he differentiate so early?” the Omega asked anxiously. “Is he sick?”

After the adoption paperwork was completed, the couple immediately took Little Yuan Shiyuan to the hospital. The tests showed severe malnutrition and abnormal hormone secretion.

Fortunately, apart from those issues, there were no major problems.

The doctor looked at the thin little boy and spoke sternly: “How did you let the child get like this? He’s at the stage when he most needs nutrition, and differentiating at ten is far too early! What are you parents thinking?”

The couple were mortified; they stared at the report, distraught.

“We’re sorry, it’s our fault.” They asked, “What should we do next?”

Little Yuan Shiyuan sat by the door with his hands placed neatly on his thighs. His legs were too short to reach the floor; his little face was very pale.

He could hear the doctor’s voice seeping through the crack in the door.

“Differentiated too early…”

“Hormone abnormalities…”

“Gland development incomplete.”

Little Yuan Shiyuan stared at his toes; his eyes stung.

No family would adopt a child with poor health—this meant spending a lot of money.

And since it was a hormone and gland issue, it would cost even more…

Would his new mom and dad abandon him too?

Suddenly, a pair of warm hands lifted him up. An Alpha reached out and touched his face: “Are you cold?”

The Omega’s coat wrapped around Little Yuan Shiyuan’s thin body; it smelled of sunlight. He tugged at the sleeve: “The clothes are a bit small.”

“We’ll buy new clothes after we get his medicine.”

“Okay? Little Yuan.”

This was the beginning of a beautiful memory. But before that?

Shiyuan’s mind spiraled; it was like being trapped in a nightmare—his forehead covered in sweat, his chest rising and falling with rapid breaths.

“Doctor, his emotions are fluctuating wildly…” a nurse said, eyes fixed on the blinking red monitor, worried.

“He suddenly went into heat during differentiation,” the doctor said. “Differentiation amplifies emotions; everyone is sensitive. It’s normal, and he’s more than S-rank…”

“Is there any synthetic S-rank alpha pheromone left?”

“None.”

“What about other hospitals? Can we still call them now?”

“I’ve called—People’s Hospital, Third Hospital, they’re out… Wait, those two alphas at the door—are they S-rank too?”

The nurse hurried to the entrance: “Hello, are you S-rank alphas? Mr. Yuan needs your pheromones, could you—”

Before she finished, the two alphas stood up. Bo Jin said, “Released pheromones have too low a conversion rate and are too slow. Draw blood directly.”

Although he didn’t fully understand the illness or why Mr. Yuan needed alpha pheromones, Bo Jin spoke decisively.

Pheromone concentration is highest in blood, but drawing blood is the most harmful to the donor.

The nurse blinked: “Of course, you can—this way, please.”

Jiang Heng was about to follow, but Bo Jin stopped him: “Don’t you have a shoot tomorrow?”

“Blood draw won’t affect the shoot.” Jiang Heng sat down immediately and pushed his sleeve up, exposing a vein.

Bo Jin used a free hand to send Pei Yanbing a message.

Bo Jin: Go to the door of Ward 001, find the nurse, tell them you need to give blood. Yuan Shiyuan needs pheromones.

Pei Yanbing hurriedly sent a voice message.

“I’m downstairs. How is he now?”

“Is he conscious?”

Yuan Shiyuan jolted awake from his dream; the white ceiling swam in his vision. He gasped, breathing like a drowning man finally breaking the surface.

After a long moment he moved in a daze and noticed a bandage on the back of his hand.

That was the kind of bandage you only get after an IV.

Yuan Shiyuan stared blankly, then looked away.

What’s going on? What happened to me…

How am I in a hospital?

“You’re awake?”

The doctor in a white coat removed his mask with obvious relief. “Thanks to the timely S-rank alpha pheromones, your heat episode has been temporarily suppressed. But that’s only temporary. Your omega level after differentiation is very high, and you’re still in the differentiation phase—I estimate it will far exceed S-rank…”

“An omega of this level has never been seen before. But we can infer that your future heats will be extremely difficult.”

The string of words slammed into Yuan Shiyuan until his head spun.

“Wait, what?” He interrupted, dizzy. “Omega?”

“What are you saying? I don’t understand.” he said. “How could I be an omega? I’m an alpha.”

The doctor’s expression flickered. He took out a tablet and pulled up a series of data charts. “I understand how you feel, but you are indeed an omega. Many of your reports contain contradictory data. I studied them repeatedly, compared other cases, and reviewed the literature; this is the conclusion.”

“You are unquestionably an omega, and you have almost completed differentiation. Previously your body showed high omega hormone levels because you were in the process of differentiating—but incompletely.”

“Recently, you kept receiving stimulation from S-rank alpha pheromones, and the omega hormones in your body have been fully awakened.”

“……”

Yuan Shiyuan’s head was still a mess. He slowly shook it. “I had check-ups a month ago, two weeks ago, and recently. I was definitely an alpha.”

“I want another gland test…”

“Mr. Yuan, no matter how many tests you take, the result will be the same. A normal person’s gland is located at the nape of the neck, but yours is different.” The doctor spoke seriously. “That’s not your real gland.”

“I’ve wondered many times why the gland report data conflicted with other results. Then I researched and everything made sense.”

“The nape-of-neck gland formed after your pseudo-differentiation into an alpha; it’s not the real gland,” the doctor said. “Your real gland is on the inner thigh.”

Yuan Shiyuan’s eyes widened. “On the inner thigh?”

“Haven’t you felt it warm, hot, even wanting to be touched recently?”

“I thought it was an allergy!”

Yuan Shiyuan had looked up information online; he’d even considered being horny, but he’d never considered the possibility that he was actually an omega.

How could he be an omega? And the gland is on the inner thigh…

He reached out as if to touch it, then recoiled as if electrocuted, awkwardly pressing his legs together.

“So my abnormal reaction today was because I went into heat?”

Yuan Shiyuan ran a hand through his hair, stunned. He had lived as an alpha for years—he’d actually gone into heat!

“But when I was an alpha, the susceptible period wasn’t strong. Why is my heat so intense…”

The doctor lowered his head to study the examination data. Cases like Yuan Shiyuan’s were so rare that he couldn’t make definitive claims in many areas; he could only reason by consulting literature, data, and simulations.

“I’ve thought about this question too. It may be because your O hormones were being suppressed previously, and you weren’t a true alpha, so you naturally didn’t have a susceptible period. Over all these years, your heats were suppressed along with the alpha traits. Once you truly differentiate into an omega, all those accumulated heats will arrive at once…”

Yuan Shiyuan did the math: his differentiation began when he was ten.

If he counted from that age, hadn’t he suppressed eight, almost nine years’ worth of heats?

“Those people at the door — are they all your boyfriends?”

Yuan Shiyuan was thinking seriously when the doctor’s question made him explode. He jumped in surprise. “Doctor, no, don’t say that. We’re all friends.”

Being a straight A mistaken for an A-lover felt awful.

The doctor: “They looked so nervous and queued up to give blood to have pheromones extracted for you; that doesn’t look like ordinary friendship.”

“That’s because they look cold on the outside but warm inside.” From his time with them, Yuan Shiyuan knew the Scepter S-ranks were actually very kind-hearted.

“All right, then, because of their kindness, you’re temporarily safe for the next while.”

The doctor took out a bag filled with freshly extracted high-concentration S-rank pheromones. “We just extracted enough S-rank pheromones from their blood to help ease your upcoming heat.”

Yuan Shiyuan took it silently and whispered, “Thank you.”

But he still felt like he was dreaming.

He’d been perfectly fine as an alpha—how did he suddenly become an omega?

And the gland was on the inner thigh!

That placement was so embarrassing…

Does that mean he can’t wear shorts anymore? If he wore shorts and exposed the gland, would that count as sexual harassment toward alphas?

“Doctor, my head is a mess.” Yuan Shiyuan nervously gripped the hem of his shirt, his toes unconsciously tracing circles on the floor. “What should I do now?”

“First, tell your parents about this. Second, take your upcoming heat seriously.”

“I’ve reviewed a lot of materials and run simulations. Your heat has been suppressed for too long; once it erupts, it will not be easily calmed. Synthetic S-rank pheromones will eventually induce tolerance… this method treats the symptoms but not the root cause.”

“To get through the heat completely, you’d be better off having direct, deep contact with S-rank alphas.” He paused, then phrased it gently, “My suggestion is that you should find—preferably soon—one… no, several highly compatible S-rank partners to help you through the heat.”

“Have direct physical contact with them, engage in sexual relations, and have deep pheromone exchange. That way you’ll be saturated inside and out with S-rank alpha pheromones, and the calming effect will be stronger. Of course, a temporary mark would be ideal.”

“In your case, one S-rank alpha definitely won’t be enough.”

“Wait—!”

The more Yuan Shiyuan listened, the more dazed, confused, and shocked he became. His face flushed; steam seemed to be rising from his head. He suddenly raised his voice and hurriedly interrupted, “Doctor, you’re moving too fast. I can’t accept this.”

“Let me catch my breath…”

To get through the heat, he had to sleep with alphas? Multiple S-ranks?!

This was chaos.

What was this? A silver… parade?

Yuan Shiyuan couldn’t accept it.

He couldn’t accept even one, let alone several.

Yuan Shiyuan was on the verge of collapsing!

Why would heaven torment him like this—a straight A (now an O)—if he’d sinned they could stab him, but not with the orange petals of a same-sex alpha.

And not just one—N big orange petals!

Oh… wait, it’s no longer same-sex.

It’s the opposite sex.

Yuan Shiyuan’s head was a mess; he suddenly tilted it back and gulped down a mouthful of cold water.

“All right, Doctor, continue.” He straightened up, forcing a composed face. “I’ve adjusted my mindset.”

The doctor’s eyes showed surprise.

This patient was oddly amusing, oddly endearing. Just finished differentiating, and despite a face full of collapse, shock, daze, and confusion, he was still trying hard to remain calm, like a rabbit forcing itself to stay steady.

“I understand your resistance. You’re used to being an alpha; suddenly having to adapt to omega instincts is indeed difficult. S-rank alphas are extremely rare…” the doctor sighed. “Finding multiple S-rank alphas who are highly compatible with you, developing partner relationships with them, and having them coexist peacefully—that’s truly like climbing to the heavens.”

“But there’s no avoiding it: your current needs are huge; a single S-rank pheromone won’t satisfy you.”

“Coincidentally… perhaps this is good news.”

The doctor took out five reports—these were pheromone compatibility test reports. The tested people were Pei Yanbing, Bo Jin, Jiang Heng, Ying Mingche, and Ying Mingxi: five S-rank alphas, all his teammates, now lying side by side on the paper.

The pheromone compatibility scores at the end left Yuan Shiyuan’s expression suddenly blank.

“The machine just automatically generated your pheromone compatibility.”

“Your compatibility is—astonishingly—100%!”

How could it be 100%? [idiotic grin]
