For Yuan Bozhu, it was a calm day.

The bell rang at six in the afternoon, signaling the end of class.

As the principal had said during the flag-raising ceremony, the school dismissed on time.

Except for the students on duty, everyone rushed out of the classroom.

Yuan Bo Zhu was one of the duty students today.

But a few minutes later, he became the only person left in the classroom.

Because Ban Zhe, who was assigned to work with him, made a request, “My grandfather’s seventieth birthday is today, and my whole family is waiting for me alone to start the meal. Yuan, can you help me out? I’ll help you next time!”

Yuan Bozhu took a second to consider which option was more troublesome to refuse or accept.

It’s obvious that if he refuses to help, this classmate will have to stay behind and clean with Yuan Bozhuo for at least ten minutes.

Accepting the request, although he’ll have to do a little more work, he can avoid trouble.

And being the last one to leave the classroom has its benefits.

No need to worry about running into teachers on the way home, or accidentally taking the same bus as classmates.

After some thought, Yuan Bozhu chose to accept: “Hmm.”

Ban Zhe seemed to have already guessed that he would help, as he had already packed his bag and ran to the classroom door.

Seeing that he indeed didn’t refuse, Ban Zhe showed a grateful smile and said, “The garbage disposal point for this semester has been moved to the flowerbed behind the teaching building. When you throw away the garbage, make sure not to throw it in the wrong place, points will be deducted. Remember to close the door and windows when you leave. Thanks, bye!”

Before Yuan Bozhu could even nod, the other person ran off like the wind.

Yuan Bozhu started cleaning alone.

In fact, doing the chores isn’t tiring, it’s just that many students don’t want to be the last one to leave.

When Yuan Bozhu used to do chores with others, he often received similar requests. They asked him to take out the trash, to be the last one to leave.

In the eyes of everyone, Yuan Bozhu was an inconspicuous, temper less, and very honest student.

Because Yuan Bozhu was too dull and quiet, he never played with the boys in the class. Coupled with his heavy glasses and hairstyle that covered most of his face, he seemed dull, and gradually, everyone didn’t pay much attention to him.

There is no psychological burden if Yuan Bozhu helps with things.

Because Yuan Bozhu doesn’t care about everything.

After finishing sweeping, there was suddenly the sound of rustling leaves outside the window.

Rub, rub, rub.

Yuan Bozhu looked up and saw a stray cat that had grown up eating leftovers from the school.

Two years ago, this orange cat was only the size of a palm, skinny as a rail. Now it had become so fat that it was difficult for it to climb trees. Presumably, it was fed too well by teachers and students at school.

It clumsily but persistently clung to a branch five floors high—it took some skill to reach this height.

But obviously, the thin branch was gradually unable to support its weight.

The big orange cat was strong and determined, still climbing forward.

A sparrow was stiffly crouched on a branch, looking hesitant to fly because the distance between it and the big orange cat was no more than a cat’s paw, and they could both perish at any moment.

The bird didn’t fly, afraid of startling the cat. The cat didn’t pounce, afraid of falling off the tree.

Yuan Bozhu only glanced at it and then looked away.

A few minutes later, he finished mopping and prepared to go wash it.

Passing by the lectern, he saw through the window that the cat and the bird were still in a stalemate.

Yuan Bozhu lowered his eyes, pondered for a moment.

Suddenly, he picked up a piece of chalk from the blackboard tray and raised his hand towards the window.

A shadow swiftly crossed the air.

Clearly, Yuan Bozhu’s action wasn’t forceful, as if he exerted no effort, but the sound of the wind was sharp like a blade. The moment the chalk hit its target; the branch split in two.

Snap—

The little bird flapped its wings swiftly and flew away.

The big orange cat, shaken by the suddenly trembling branch, clung to it with fluffed-up fur, caught in a dilemma.

Yuan Bozhu stood at the lectern, two meters away from the window, gazing at the big orange cat.

The cat also turned its head to look at him.

Its pupils emitted a faint dark light.

“Meow!”

You’re in trouble, you’re in trouble, you’re in trouble.

When I get down from the tree, I’ll tear your books apart!

Hiss, how do I get down.

Although cats couldn’t speak human language, Yuan Bozhu could understand what it was thinking.

The next moment, he slowly reached out his hand again.

Turning his palm up, closing his fingers together, with a downward press of his knuckles, a gust of wind suddenly swept through the window.

The leaves rustled violently, branches dancing.

The big orange cat, startled, tightly held onto the precarious branch beneath it. It leaned closer to the safe area.

“Go,” Yuan Bozhu said.

The orange cat lifted his head arrogantly.

However, before his graceful cat-like steps could take him anywhere, he raised his tail in alarm and looked up from the flower bed on the ground floor, stretching his neck.

Meow, did I just understand human speech?

After cleaning up the classroom, Yuán Bózhú went to get his backpack and casually turned on his phone.

As soon as he turned it on, he heard the buzzing sound of group messages.

【Happy Yuanyuan Family】

-Brother Yushu Linfeng Yuan: I won’t come back today.

-Yuan Dad: Where are you going again?

-Brother Yushu Linfeng Yuan: Go fool around. [Shy.jpg]

-Dad Yuan: Let’s take some time to come back and go through the formalities.

-Brother Yushu Linfeng Yuan: Huh? What paperwork?

-Dad Yuan: Find a way to get yourself removed from our household register.

-Brother Yushu Linfeng Yuan: Dad, don’t be like this. I’ll come back tomorrow; I promise. Today is the last day, let me have some fun.

-Sister Wan Jiao Yuan: @Yushu Linfeng Yuan, I predicted that you will have a catastrophe today, be careful out there, little silly nose.

-Brother Yushu Linfeng Yuan: [Anger.jpg] I won’t die even if you die, old witch.

-Sister Wan Jiao Yuan: @Dad, dad, he cursed at me.

-Brother Yushu Linfeng Yuan: She started it first!!! @Dad, dad, dad, Wan Jiao, this venomous woman is openly sowing discord.

-Dad Yuan: Leaving the group.

Yuan Bozhu glanced at the group messages and saw that the chat history was from two hours ago, so he didn’t reply.

When he finished packing his backpack and headed out, the teaching building was already very quiet.

After going out, he carried the trash bag to the back of the teaching building to find the new garbage disposal point mentioned by his classmates.

It wasn’t hard to find the disposal point, it was just in the open space behind the flower bed.

But unfortunately, there were people here.

Four people of various heights and builds, surrounded by smoke, emitted the unmistakable smell of idle students – they were the notorious four bullies of the school who called themselves the school tyrants.

The four school tyrants were leaning against the corner, smoking and chatting.

“I really can’t stand it, I don’t know why Han Banlan is acting so high and mighty, she actually slapped me, damn! Does she think I’m so rare?”

“She’s just relying on Lin Shuanghuai to cover for her.”

“What’s so great about Lin Shuanghuai, skinny arms and legs, I could snap them in half with a twist!”

“Forget it, Lin Shuanghuai always hangs around with a bunch of people, especially that Yu Yang’en who sticks to his back like glue for free meals. I heard he was very fierce when he first entered the first year, it’s not worth it to mess with them.”

“Damn, so did I take that slap for nothing?”

“Think about it, didn’t you touch her face as well? No – hey, who the hell is over there?!”

Yuan Bozhu didn’t know them personally, but he had some impression of them.

Probably because these people often roamed around the various floors and had the reputation of being school bullies, it was hard not to remember their faces.

The first reaction of ordinary students when they saw troublemakers gathering was to avoid them.

Yuan Bozhu was also an ordinary student, so he decided to turn around on the spot.

Throwing garbage outside the school was the same.

Who knows, just as he was about to retreat, one of the bullies suddenly shouted at him, “Hey, glasses, where are you running?”

Yuan Bozhu thought for a moment and turned to look at him.

“Enjoying eavesdropping by the wall, huh? Damn, still trying to run, do you believe I’ll smack you?!”

Although they said so, the four of them continued to puff smoke, showing no intention of rushing up to beat anyone.

The chubby one joked, “Don’t be so fierce, he already looks dumb, scaring him any more might make him stupid.”

“Tch, he already looks dumb, is it my fault?”

The tall one raised his chin, arrogantly pointing at Yuan Bozhu and said, “You, yes, you. Since you’re here, let’s get acquainted. What grade are you in?”

Of course, they were not interested in Yuan Bozhu himself, but this was just a conversation starter.

By asking this, they wanted to know Yuan Bozhu’s status so they could exert pressure.

Yuan Bozhu looked at them and didn’t want to reveal his class or name.

His silence obviously annoyed the other party.

Suddenly, the short one threw the almost finished cigarette butt at Yuan Bozhu and cursed, “Are you mute?!”

Yuan Bozhu frowned.

Seeing the cigarette butt falling to the ground, expressionlessly lifting his foot, he stamped it out.

At this moment, the other party had already approached, looked up at the school badge on the chest of Yuan Bozhu, and read it aloud, “Senior Class 3, Class 7, Yuan Bozhu. Alright, I’ll remember you, kid.”

He was less than 1.7 meters tall, but he considered himself quite imposing. He raised his arm high and patted Yuan Bozhu on the shoulder, “Now, go to the supermarket outside the school and buy two packs of cigarettes. You have ten minutes. If you take more than one minute, I’ll punch you. Got it?”

They were used to bullying others in school, especially those who seemed to be docile and obedient “good students.”

Because these students were the most obedient and the most timid.

In their eyes, Yuan Bozhu was also one of these people.

The kind of fool who wouldn’t even dare to complain to the teacher after being bullied.

“Are you listening?” Seeing no response from Yuan Bozhu, the person in front said again, “Are you mute? Did you hear me or not!”

Yuan Bozhu, who was 1.8 meters tall, had to lower his head when facing the shorter person. With a slightly restrained chin, he said expressionlessly, “Oh.”

But there were no further words.

The other person sneered, “Really acting like a fool.”

“Coward with no guts.” The taller one snorted and then said to Yuan Bozhu again, “Go on, hurry to the store. Buy the expensive ones. Dare to buy anything less than twenty, and I’ll beat you when you come back.”

He deliberately raised his voice, shouting with great vigor.

Yuan Bozhu didn’t answer.

But because he looked so indifferent, coupled with the calm aura he exuded, people always thought he was submissive.

After those bullies made their declaration of collecting “tolls,” Yuan Bozhu pushed his glasses and suddenly took a step forward towards them.

The taller one’s eyes widened, instantly straightening his body into a defensive stance, thinking Yuan Bozhu was about to start a fight.

He quickly compared his own physique with Yuan Bozhu’s and realized he might not have the advantage in a one-on-one fight.

But there were four of them here; there was no reason to fear a bespectacled guy.

“What are you up to?!”

The four of them were both offensive and defensive, full of vigor.

However, just as the words were spoken, Yuan Bozhu walked straight past them and neatly threw the trash bag in his hand into the trash can.

Turning around, he truthfully replied to the four of them:

“Throwing away trash.”

The several of them glanced at each other, feeling that Yuan Bozhu’s attitude was annoying.

Because he was too calm, showing no respect or deference to them.

But then again, this person was going to buy cigarettes for them later, and it seemed like he hadn’t offended them.

Finally, the four of them stared at Yuan Bozhu oddly and said, “Hurry up, go buy cigarettes!”

Of course, Yuan Bozhu wasn’t going to buy cigarettes.

He didn’t take this matter to heart, and even forgot about those four people when passing by the playground.

On the football field, some energetic students didn’t immediately go home after school but continued to sweat it out.

Seeing this scene, Yuan Bozhu suddenly remembered that he hadn’t exercised for a long time.

In school, Yuan Bozhu would avoid all kinds of group activities as much as possible.

It wasn’t entirely because he didn’t want to socialize, but due to various considerations.

Playing ball, swimming, track and field.

Activities like these not only failed to bring him joy but also risked exposing the extraordinary secrets of his physical fitness.

If he easily participated in various competitions with his classmates, he would soon become the focus of everyone’s attention—

This wasn’t his self-aggrandizement.

When Yuan Bozhu was in elementary school, he once caused a collective discussion among classmates and teachers because he “accidentally” ran a kilometer in one minute during a physical fitness test.

This record-breaking achievement was so astonishing that even though everyone saw him complete a kilometer, the final result of the discussion was that the physical education teacher insisted that Yuan Bozhu must have missed two laps.

And criticized him, saying, “How could anyone run a kilometer in a minute? At such a young age, don’t try cheating.”

Of course, Yuan Bozhu didn’t argue with the teacher, obediently “admitted his mistake,” and then slowed down and ran two more laps with everyone until the finish line.

Additionally, there was an even earlier crisis that made Yuan Bozhu experience the embarrassment of being the center of attention.

When he was in kindergarten, Yuan Bozhu participated in a group activity: Ring Toss.

The teacher asked each child to display the small gifts they brought from home, and everyone had ten chances to toss the ring to try and win the gift they wanted.

It was originally a relaxing and enjoyable game to amuse the children, but Yuan Bozhu happened to be the first one to succeed in tossing the ring.

He hit the mark every time, and the game ended immediately—

The other children cried because Yuan Bozhu took away half of the gifts by himself.

A few children who didn’t cry protested with their hands on their hips, claiming they wanted to expel Yuan Bozhu from the class because he cruelly took away everyone’s joy with ten rings.

The kindergarten teachers were also shocked and flustered.

After comforting the children, the teachers didn’t forget to call Yuan Bozhu’s father, Yuan Jilang, and say, “Yuan Bozhu is a genius at ring tossing. Nurture him well; he has great potential.”

Yuan Bozhu felt confused and regretful from start to finish.

Confused because he didn’t know what was so genius about tossing rings.

Regretful because ever since that day, whenever a teacher saw something round, they would hand it to him, eagerly watching him and saying, “Kid, toss another one for the teacher to see.”

Yuan Bozhu bore the burden of this “genius” until he graduated from kindergarten.

After that, he also deeply realized a problem: among children, he should behave like a child, and among ordinary people, he should behave like an ordinary person.

Yuan Bozhu himself was fond of sports.

It’s just that, based on the above reasons, he needed specific venues.

Such as the mountaintop at two in the morning.

At that time, there was no one on the mountain, and he could “exercise” there to his heart’s content.

Although once, when Yuan Bozhu was practicing swordsmanship and didn’t control the sword aura well, it caused an earthquake in the Xuantian Mountain Range to the south of the city. The tremors startled thousands of wild animals, causing them to move away overnight. The next day, it was reported in the news as “a harbinger of the apocalypse,” almost causing a catastrophe.

But fortunately, Yuan Bozhu didn’t reveal himself.

To this day, no one knows that on a certain day in a certain year, Yuan Bozhu almost leveled a certain mountain in the Xuantian Mountain.

Speaking of which, during the recent summer vacation, although Yuan Bozhu had plenty of time, he never had the opportunity to go mountain climbing again.

Because he worked part-time every day, without rest day or night.

No chance for exercise.

From junior high school to now, Yuan Bozhu has done many part-time jobs, including but not limited to: various tutoring, various service jobs, barista, bartender, animal trainer, private detective, and auxiliary member of underground organizations, etc…

Yuan Bozhu generally decides what job to do based on how much money he needs at the time.

This summer vacation, Yuan Bozhu earned quite a bit of money, but he spent it all on buying himself a phone and a computer. He barely had any change left in his pocket.

He didn’t spend much money himself, so he never complained.

These were things parents should prepare for their children. If his parents forgot, Yuan Bozhu never asked them for it.

It’s not because Yuan’s family is poor.

Yuan Jilang is the head of the marketing department of a listed group project company, and at the peak of his career, he could earn a few hundred thousand yuan a year. This income level, even in cities like Qiancheng, a first-tier city, is quite decent.

But the problem is, these million yuan has to support a family of five.

The eldest son, Yuan Qifeng, is twenty-eight years old this year, with nothing to show for himself, relying on his parents to idle around every day, indulging in eating, drinking, and having fun outside, not returning home day or night.

Every month, he demands a five-figure allowance for who knows what.

The eldest daughter, Yuan Wanjiao, also twenty-eight years old, is relatively easy to handle in life. She has a skill to earn money on her own. The only problem is that she’s particularly fond of handsome, young guys. She often spends money on her brothers, leaving herself short of money.

Yuan Jilang often helps her out.

And that’s not all.

The biggest expense at home is Yuan Bozhu’s mother, Zhang Shu.

Zhang Shu is forty-two years old this year and hasn’t retired yet. She works as an accountant in a company and gets a monthly salary of eight thousand yuan, which sounds like a lot. But she spends money generously and never understands the word “frugal.”

She can spend ten thousand yuan to become a member of a beauty salon once, and whenever she goes shopping, as long as she sees something she likes, she grabs it without asking the price.

Yuan Jilang spoils his wife very much. Under normal circumstances, as long as he doesn’t go bankrupt, he will fulfill all of Zhang Shu’s requests.

With these expenses, Yuan Jilang’s salary is already in danger.

Unfortunately, he recently got it into his head to buy a newly built villa in the downtown area. It is said that the area is the world’s largest high-quality residential area created by the Alliance government, and to buy a house there, you not only need money but also status and position.

Yuan Jilang’s mid-life crisis is manifested in his strong desire to move into a big house.

Yuan Bozhu calculated for him that to buy a house in that neighborhood, their whole family would have to live on nothing and live to be 328 years old.

Knowing it’s impossible, but Yuan Jilang is very determined and said that before he retires, he will definitely move the whole family in.

So recently, the whole family has been saving money.

Fortunately, as the youngest son, Yuan Bozhu doesn’t cause any worries. In this era of rapid technological and entertainment development, he never complains about his tight monthly allowance of one thousand yuan.

What other children have, he has too—earned with his own hands.

Now that he has both a phone and a computer, Yuan Bozhu doesn’t need to work so hard at part-time jobs.

So, this weekend night, he can probably go and exercise happily.

“Be careful!”

“Ah oh my god!!”

As Yuan Bozhu was lost in thought, suddenly several screams echoed from the direction of the playground.

Yuan Bo Zhu realized that something was flying towards him.

Sure enough, in the instant he looked up, he caught sight of a fiercely approaching soccer ball flying towards him with the wind.

Author’s Note:

“Yuan Bozhu’s os”:

            1. Little birds, cute, rescue them
            2. Big orange, fluffy, rescue them.
            3. It seems that he has forgotten something unimportant after leaving school.
