Chapter 10

Chen Jin, who was rescued, was rapidly losing body heat, unable to speak coherently.

The yacht returned at full speed, escorting the shivering Chen Jin to the independent hospital on Nightless Continent.

As the crowd dispersed, the captain returned to the cabin to wrap up the work, only to suddenly notice Lin Shuanghuai sitting in a corner, lost in thought.

Before he could inquire, Lin Shuanghuai had already raised his head, his expression unchanged, as he stood up leaning against the nearby liquor cabinet.

He bowed to the captain and said, “Then I’ll take my leave, thank you for your hard work.”

“Huh? Oh… no trouble at all, it’s my duty.”

The captain thought he might be drunk, but then hearing Lin Shuanghuai speak steadily, he felt sober, so he said, “Take care, young master.”

Lin Shuanghuai, holding an empty bottle, slowly got off the boat.

Walking on the floating bridge, feeling the swaying around him, Lin Shuanghuai got nervous and the bottle in his hand fell into the water.

He stood still for a moment, then suddenly bowed deeply to the trash he had created.

“Thank you, for your hard work.”

Lin Shuanghuai was drunk.

The initial reaction of Yuan Bozhuo upon seeing Lin Shuanghuai was to think he was mistaken.

Wasn’t Lin Shuanghuai not supposed to appear on Nightless Continent?

He just found it too coincidental.

Coincidental as if it were deliberately arranged, that he must encounter this person today.

In fact, Yuan Bozhuo had seen that figure since earlier, coming from afar from the direction of the yacht harbor pool.

The person who “looks like” Lin Shuanghuai, takes two steps back and three steps forward, lowers his head, bends his waist deeply, hands against the wall, stumbling and staggering as he walks.

He looks like a drunkard, completely mismatched with the campus heartthrob image of Qiancheng No.1 High School.

But coincidentally, Lin Shuanghuai is walking towards him. Yuan Bozhuo was originally heading to the transfer point and happened to intersect with Lin Shuanghuai on the fork in the road.

Suddenly, Lin Shuanghuai lost his balance and fell forward. Yuan Bozhuo reached out and caught him.

This feeling is strange.

It’s like stepping into a strange loop, encountering someone from the same school whom he hasn’t seen in two years, twice in one day.

With unexpected events happening more frequently, it’s a dangerous signal for Yuan Bozhuo.

It could mean that everything that follows is beyond his control.

After stabilizing Lin Shuanghuai, Yuan Bozhuo let go.

He worried that Lin Shuanghuai would put on that appearance from school and try to engage in small talk with him.

Yuan Bozhuo doesn’t like dealing with social interactions, especially with someone like Lin Shuanghuai, who is good at saying nice things but insincere.

As it turns out, Lin Shuanghuai didn’t intend to talk to him. The moment Yuan Bozhuo let go, Lin Shuanghuai sat down on the ground.

Yuan Bozhuo hesitated, instinctively reaching out to help Lin Shuanghuai, but his hand stopped halfway.

In the end, he pulled it back without assisting.

It’s obvious that Lin Shuanghuai is drunk, with a faint smell of alcohol emanating from him, vacant and dull eyes, and an unbalanced body.

He needs help.

Yuan Bozhuo fell silent for a moment. From his perspective, he could just see a small tuft of hair on top of Lin Shuanghuai’s head.

For some reason, Yuan Bozhuo briefly thought about how that fuzzy texture might feel.

But quickly, he averted his gaze.

Yuan Bozhuo decided not to intervene.

It’s not that he’s indifferent.

It’s just that Yuan Bozhuo believes the best way to help Lin Shuanghuai is to call the staff from Nighless Continent.

They take care of their guests meticulously and are more suited for meddling than Yuan Bozhuo.

The transfer point is very close. Yuan Bozhuo could see the car just a dozen meters ahead.

But there are no staff around temporarily. They’re probably on night patrol and should be back in a few minutes.

Yuan Bozhuo glanced back.

The drunken Lin Shuanghuai was still sitting obediently in place, not following.

But his posture had changed from slumping to squatting, hugging his knees.

Like a lost child, waiting to be claimed.

Yuan Bozhuo didn’t turn back to escort him.

He’s not Lin Shuanghuai’s owner.

…

“Hey, little brother, why are you sitting here alone?… Geez, Lao Zhang, look, is this guy drunk or what?”

Just as Yuan Bozhuo was looking for the staff, a voice came from behind.

It was the two men who had just come out of the hot spring pool.

Yuan Bozhuo’s expression remained unchanged, and his pace slowed down.

“It seems so. There are fewer guard posts around here, and the service staff might not have patrolled here. I’ll make a call to Nightless Continent first.”

“Hey hey hey, why bother making a call, just consider this… found property mine. Don’t you understand me?”

The man seemed emboldened by alcohol, disregarding advice, and insisted on talking to the fallen Lin Shuanghuai:

“Hey handsome, you want to come with me to sleep? It’s so cold, let’s go back to the room… Silence means consent, okay?”

“Don’t be like this. What kind of people come to Nightless Continent? Do you dare to mess around? Lao Liu, can’t you hear me? Let go quickly.”

“What are you afraid of? He’s drunk by himself, not because of me.”

As the man spoke, he had already pulled Lin Shuanghuai up from the ground.

Seeing Lin Shuanghuai’s face, his eyes widened as if he had found a treasure, and he exclaimed in excitement, “Damn, I’m gonna make a fortune tonight.”

However, before he could embrace that slender waist, he suddenly felt his hands empty—

Someone had snatched away the treasure he picked up.

“Who the hell?”

The man came to his senses, glaring fiercely at the young boy in student uniform who had suddenly appeared before him. “Kid, what’s the meaning of this? Don’t you understand the concept of queuing?”

Yuan Bozhua glanced at him without saying a word.

Then directly lifted Lin Shuanghuai around the waist and turned to leave.

“Damn it!” The man behind refused to swallow this insult, reaching out to grab Yuan Bozhuo’s shoulder.

Yuan Bozhuo didn’t stop his steps,

Just slightly moved his shoulder back and said in a low, deep voice, “Get lost.”

The man’s friend wanted to step forward to pull him away, not wanting him to embarrass himself.

But before he could, he suddenly saw the man fly backward three meters.

With a thud, he fell to the ground, immediately silent.

The shuttle bus moved at a steady pace. Other people got on during the journey, but they quickly got off.

The Nightless Conitinent was brightly lit at night,

But there were few people on the streets.

They had many amusements, but only Yuan Bozhuo and Lin Shuanghuai remained seated in the last row.

He had still helped, intervening in this trivial matter.

The night wind was chilly.

After a gust, Lin Shuanghuai seemed to sober up a bit. From a drowsy state, he suddenly sat up,

though not fully awake.

Yuan Bozhuo felt this way because Lin Shuanghuai seemed a bit restless.

There were no doors on both sides of the shuttle bus, yet Lin Shuanghuai insisted on sitting at the very edge.

His eyes stared at the rapidly receding road surface, and his head slowly drooped.

He seemed about to fall off the bus.

Yuan Bozhuo reached out, grabbed his clothes, and pulled him back.

But in no time, Lin Shuanghuai started staring at the ground again, gradually bending down.

About to fall again.

Yuan Bozhuo reached out to grab him once more.

This repeated several times, and Yuan Bozhuo wasn’t getting impatient, but Lin Shuanghuai started to get angry.

He bit his lip, eyes red, glaring angrily at Yuan Bozhuo.

His originally round and bright eyes accurately locked onto Yuan Bozhuo, seemingly about to burst into tears.

Yuan Bozhuo also looked at him, raised his eyebrows, silently asking, “?”

Drunk Lin Shuanghuai was not as polite as usual. He leaned closer to Yuan Bozhuo, coldly saying,

“Don’t pull, my clothes.”

Seeing his suddenly close face, his exquisitely enlarged features filling his vision, Yuan Bozhuo instinctively leaned back.

Fortunately, Lin Shuanghuai withdrew after his harsh words, slowly and carefully adjusting his clothes before turning away.

As the distance opened up, Yuan Bozhuo breathed a sigh of relief.

But this time, Lin Shuanghuai didn’t stare at the road.

He turned around and was about to jump off the bus.

Yuan Bozhuo’s eyebrows jumped as Lin Shuanghuai made this move, and just before Lin Shuanghuai flew out, he pulled him back.

Lin Shuanghuai was thoroughly enraged.

His first reaction wasn’t to push Yuan Bozhuo away but to pounce on him.

Grabbing Yuan Bozhuo’s arm, he mercilessly bit down without hesitation.

“…,” Yuan Bozhuo didn’t move.

It wasn’t that it didn’t hurt; Lin Shuanghuai’s small tiger teeth were quite sharp.

Mainly, Yuan Bozhuo was afraid of his reflexes, fearing he might instinctively swing his hand and knock Lin Shuanghuai’s chin off or throw him ten meters away, which would be a big problem.

So, he restrained himself slightly.

“Let go,” he said.

“…,” Lin Shuanghuai didn’t listen, grinding his teeth against Yuan Bozhuo’s firm muscles.

Yuan Bozhuo wasn’t entirely patient either.

Being bitten inexplicably, there had to be some emotion.

Since he couldn’t wait for Lin Shuanghuai to let go, he raised his hand and accurately pressed a point on Lin Shuanghuai’s jaw with two fingers, not too heavy or too light.

Acupuncture, an ancient and practical method of restraint, is faster than using pinching techniques.

However, considering Lin Shuanghuai is just an ordinary person with a mortal body, Yuan Bozhuo did not exert any spiritual pressure through his cultivation.

Simply pressing acupuncture points has limited effectiveness; it can only temporarily paralyze the nerves, causing the muscles to weaken and the body to become limp, but it doesn’t render one completely immobile.

If Lin Shuanghuai still wanted to bite someone, he could.

But it wouldn’t hurt.

So, the drunken person became limp, slouching in his seat, behaving obediently.

Yuan Bozhuo withdrew his gaze, no longer paying attention to this drunkard.

He took out his phone to check the time, frowned, and then put the phone back. It was too late.

There had been too many unexpected events today; it should end now.

Yuan Bozhuo decided to let the staff of Nightless Continent arrange Lin Shuanghuai’s accommodation for the night.

Otherwise, he would have to shoulder the burden of sending him home.

It’s not that Yuan Bozhuo couldn’t do it, but there was no need.

Things that were unnecessary were always best avoided.

Before he could call for the shuttle bus to stop, Lin Shuanghuai started to stir again.

This person’s drunkenness seemed to progress in different stages.

At first, he was slumped on the roadside, lost in thought.

Then he became aggressive towards his surroundings.

Now, he started to strike up conversations with people.

Lin Shuanghuai raised his hand and tapped Yuan Bozhuo’s arm, “Hey…”

Yuan Bozhuo turned to look at him.

Lin Shuanghuai hadn’t said anything yet, but suddenly leaned towards him.

Yuan Bozhuo was taken aback, instinctively extending two fingers to press against Lin Shuanghuai’s head, pushing him away.

But Yuan Bozhuo forgot one thing…

He had pressed Lin Shuanghuai’s acupuncture point, so this person now had little strength.

Once he lost his balance, he toppled to the side.

Seeing Lin Shuanghuai about to fall off the car, Yuan Bozhuo acted quickly, pulling him back in.

Lin Shuanghuai’s forehead bumped against his chest with a dull thud…

How troublesome.

This thought crossed Yuan Bozhuo’s mind.

He wasn’t good at taking care of drunks, and besides, he had no obligation to do so.

Lin Shuanghuai squirmed in his arms, probably feeling uncomfortable, so Yuan Bozhuo had to release the pressure point.

The next moment, Lin Shuanghuai regained his strength and sat up, supporting himself with his hands on Yuan Bozhua’s thigh.

They locked eyes.

Suddenly, Lin Shuanghuai asked out of nowhere, “Does it look good?”

“Huh?” Yuan Bozhuo was puzzled.

“The clothes, the new ones.”

Lin Shuanghuai said halfway, then lowered his head, patting his collar that wasn’t dirty.

Then he looked at Yuan Bozhuo, persistently and cautiously asking, “Do I look good wearing them?”

Honestly, Yuan Bozhuo didn’t want to answer such a meaningless and childish question.

But Lin Shuanghuai kept asking, repeating like a broken record.

“Do I look good? Do I look good?”

“Today, the first time wearing them.”

“Look, take a look. Huh?”

Yuan Bozhuo massaged his temples, glanced at the nearby buildings, and noticed that the Nightless Continent hotel was not far away.

He straightened up again, determined this time to ask the driver to stop here and let Night Continent’s staff take care of Lin Shuanghuai.

But Lin Shuanghuai didn’t give him a chance.

Just as Yuan Bozhuo was about to say “stop,” Lin Shuanghuai suddenly reached out from the side, cupping Yuan Bozhuo’s face and forcefully turning it towards him, forcing the question,

“Not good looking, huh…? Is it not, not good looking?”

For Yuan Bozhuo, this amount of force was nothing. He expressionlessly pried Lin Shuanghuai’s hand away.

Lin Shuanghuai wanted to grab his ear, but Yuan Bozhuo held his restless wrists firmly.

Lin Shuanghuai couldn’t move.

But then he suddenly started crying.

Yuan Bozhuo had never seen someone’s tears fall so quickly.

Before he could even figure out what was worth crying about, Lin Shuanghuai’s tears formed a line.

Thinking he might have hurt this delicate person with too much strength, he immediately let go.

“Then, I don’t want it, to wear it…”

Lin Shuanghuai cried quietly, still announcing his decision, “Throw it away.” After saying that, he began to take off his clothes.

As he unbuttoned two buttons, Yuan Bozhuo’s eyebrows twitched again.

He immediately stopped Lin Shuanghuai’s actions.

“It looks good,” Yuan Bozhuo said, looking at him.

“Ah.” Lin Shuanghuai exclaimed, “Good looking?”

“Good looking.”

Just as he finished speaking, Lin Shuanghuai called out again, and Yuan Bozhuo softly said, “Quiet.”

“I, look good!”

“Shh…”

“Then I’ll wear it for my birthday.”

Lin Shuanghuai squinted as if thinking of something happy, covering his mouth and laughing secretly, “Eat cake, receive gifts, I’ll also, have a birthday…”

Yuan Bozhuo let him ramble on, but he found it hard to ignore Lin Shuanghuai’s open collar.

Suddenly, he reached out and buttoned Lin Shuanghuai’s shirt,

Even adding two extra buttons to cover Lin Shuanghuai’s exposed neck and collarbone.

After buttoning up, Lin Shuanghuai also stopped talking to himself.

The next second, he fell into Yuan Bozhuo’s arms.

He fell asleep suddenly.

Author’s Note:

“Irresponsible Little Theater”

Lin Shuanghuai (intentionally unbuttoning the buttons to reveal his handsome collarbone, showing off his charm): This must have mesmerized him.

Yuan Bozhuo (not looking away, expressionless and not appreciating): Turn on the AC if you’re hot.
