- Chapter 99.1 - Tang-Tang Couple [Ninth Dose of Sweetness]
“You haven’t said it, so why should I?”
Tang Xin huffed, leaning back. Tang Yu followed her movement, stepping closer until she was cornered against the edge of the desk. His hands pressed against the desk, caging her in completely. “I haven’t said it? Count how many times I’ve said it recently.”
“Those don’t count—they were sent through red envelopes!”
“Red envelopes count too. ‘I like you’—those four words? I typed each one out, hundreds of times. How could they not count?” Tang Yu snorted lightly, his eyes locking onto hers. “Even Feisty Queens can’t be this unreasonable.”
Hmm. He kind of had a point.
But she had sent him one too—he just hadn’t seen it yet.
The edge of the desk was pressing into her back, making her uncomfortable. Tang Xin blushed as she tried to push him away. “Mr. Tang, this is your office! Mind your image! Think about the impact!”
Unmoved, Tang Yu leaned in, clearly about to kiss her—
Knock, knock.
Someone was at the door.
After such a major incident, there were still many matters waiting for Tang Yu’s attention. With the crew yet to return to China, his schedule was jam-packed.
Tang Yu paused, his eyes narrowing slightly. He pressed a quick bite to her lips before pulling back and straightening up. With a pat on her head, he instructed, “Go make me a cup of coffee.”
Tang Xin darted away immediately, escaping the room.
“Come in,” Tang Yu said.
The door opened, and in walked Assistant Gao. He glanced briefly at Tang Xin as she slipped out. He’d already found it strange when Tang Yu had asked for the official Weibo password earlier. Tang Yu had never shown any interest in managing the company’s social media. But after that unexpected post on the company account… it all made sense.
That playful, teasing tone? Completely out of character for Mr. Tang. Who else could it be but Tang Xin?
So, Rich Girl is Tang Xin.
Assistant Gao’s feelings were complicated. Was the rumor true after all? Mr. Tang couldn’t win over Ming Zhu, so he went after Tang Xin instead?
Tang Yu’s voice interrupted his thoughts. “Have the crowds outside dispersed?”
“They’ve mostly left, but the reporters are still lingering. They’re hoping for an in-depth interview. Should we arrange one?”
Tang Xin paused at the door to glance back.
“No sugar in the coffee,” Tang Yu said with a casual look in her direction before turning back to Assistant Gao. “Make the arrangements for half an hour from now.”
“Understood.”
Tang Xin pursed her lips and left to make coffee.
The entire company was still in chaos, with everyone working overtime. Tang Xin rarely made coffee herself. Usually, she bought it or settled for instant coffee. Now, standing before the coffee machine in the break room, she felt a twinge of frustration.
Peeking out, she saw the office’s busy secretaries. After a moment of hesitation, she approached one of them.
The secretary spotted her and immediately smiled warmly. “Ah, Miss Tang, is there something I can help you with?”
Everyone in the company had heard the whispers: Mr. Tang was pursuing Tang Xin. And when he had escorted her into his office earlier? The rumor seemed practically confirmed. Tang Xin wasn’t just a screenwriter anymore—she was their future Mrs. Tang.
Who would dare be impolite?
Tang Xin, oblivious to the office gossip, smiled sweetly. “Mr. Tang wants coffee. I was wondering…”
Before she could finish, the secretary jumped to her feet. “I’ll make it! I know exactly how Mr. Tang likes his coffee—actually, wait, you must know better than I do.”
Tang Xin blinked. “I don’t.”
“You definitely do.”
Feeling a bit exasperated, Tang Xin clarified, “I really don’t. I’m not good with coffee machines. Could you help me out?”
The secretary chuckled and stepped into the break room. “Of course. Mr. Tang likes his coffee with milk but no sugar. Not too much milk, either.”
Such precise requirements? No wonder he had refused instant coffee at her place before. Tang Xin huffed internally but managed a polite “Thanks for the help.”
She stayed by the secretary’s side, quietly observing the process and making mental notes. At least I’m learning something new, she thought.
After a while, Tang Xin brought the coffee into Tang Yu’s office. Glancing at him as he handled yet another phone call, she huffed internally. So many calls—has he even noticed the red envelope I sent?
She placed the coffee on his desk. Tang Yu looked up and gave her a brief, reassuring smile, signaling he was busy.
She nodded in understanding and stepped aside.
Once Tang Yu finished the call, he still didn’t have time to check his messages. He drank the coffee while handling work, but only moments later, Assistant Gao knocked to remind him it was time for his interview.
Tang Yu set the empty cup down and walked over to the sofa.
Tang Xin tilted her head to look up at him. Tang Yu sighed. “Should I have the driver take you home? I’ll be very busy tonight and probably won’t have time for you.”
“It’s fine. Go handle your work,” Tang Xin replied sweetly, her tone perfectly understanding. “I’ll head over to meet You Huan. Her shop’s nearby. After dinner, I can go home myself.”
Tang Yu couldn’t resist ruffling her hair, a soft smile spreading across his face. “Alright. Call me when you’re home.”
“Okay.”
Seeing her agree so readily, Tang Yu’s heart fluttered. He pinched her cheek lightly before heading out.
Tang Xin stayed in his office for a few more minutes, gathering her things before sneaking out quietly.
Earlier, when Tang Yu had gone downstairs to bring her up, he had walked through the lobby with his arm around her. Now, the whole company was abuzz with rumors—Tang Xin had landed Mr. Tang!
Several colleagues she was friendly with had already sent her screenshots of chat logs from other groups, with gossip ranging from mild to spicy. Some even included photos of Tang Yu escorting her. If anyone wasn’t aware by now, it was probably because they were too swamped to check their phones.
Tang Xin felt a bit embarrassed. She hadn’t intended to make such a public display of their relationship. Even though Elite Vision Entertainment didn’t explicitly forbid office romances, if there had been a rule, Tang Yu could have easily overridden it with a snap of his fingers.
Stepping out of his office, she immediately felt the weight of everyone’s stares.
Tang Xin straightened her back, pretending not to notice. I don’t know most of them anyway, she told herself, keeping her expression calm.
Once she was outside the building, she let out a deep breath of relief.
You Huan wasn’t at her store today. As a high-end designer, she had been recording a competition show at the TV station. The day’s events had shaken her badly, making her nervous throughout the taping.
She had invited Tang Xin out for dinner and karaoke to decompress.
The day’s chaos had left both of them rattled. They were still worried about Ming Zhu. While news had confirmed she was safe and uninjured, the uncertainty earlier had been unbearable.
Tang Xin arrived at the restaurant just shy of 9 p.m.
You Huan had already ordered the food and was waiting for her.
Starving, Tang Xin immediately grabbed her chopsticks and started eating. In between bites, she glanced at You Huan, who was scrolling through Weibo. “Stop worrying. Ming Zhu’s fine. She’ll probably be back in a few days. Did today’s events mess up your competition?”
“It’s no big deal. If I lose, I lose. Nothing to cry about,” You Huan replied nonchalantly, though her expression suggested otherwise. Still scrolling, she stumbled upon a video of Tang Yu’s interview. Looking at Tang Xin, she smirked. “Your Mr. Tang is on the news. Want to watch?”
Tang Xin coughed awkwardly.
She hadn’t told You Huan yet about her fast-moving relationship with Tang Yu.
Opening Weibo, she saw the interview trending on the platform. The man in the video, clad in a white dress shirt, looked calm, composed, and undeniably handsome. Skimming the comments, she wasn’t surprised to see countless fans swooning over him. Tang Xin huffed.
“What’s with the huffing?”
“Nothing…” Tang Xin coughed again before blurting out, “Tang Yu and I are together.”
You Huan’s eyes widened. “What? Since when?”
Tang Xin scratched her head. “Since this evening.”
A sudden realization struck You Huan. “Wait a second—was that Elite Vision Entertainment Weibo post yours? No wonder the tone felt so familiar!” She burst into laughter. “It had to be you!”
Tang Xin said nothing, her face turning red.
You Huan gave her a knowing look. “So, have you and your Mr. Tang reached ‘universal harmony’ yet?”
“…No!” Tang Xin exclaimed, her voice flustered.
You Huan smirked, dragging out her words teasingly. “Well, good luck then. Soon, you’ll be the CEO’s wife. Don’t forget about me when you’re rich and famous.”
Tang Xin giggled, patting her chest with mock solemnity. “If I prosper, I will not forget you!”
