Only I Understand His Gentle Heart - Chapter 95.2
Tang Xin walked over to Tang Yu.
Tang Yu raised an eyebrow slightly as Tang Xin looked up at him and said, “Let’s go.”
The two left the hotel, and Tang Xin led him to a nearby restaurant. She walked beside him, feeling an unexplainable lightness in her steps. Cheerfully, she explained, “This is where we usually eat. It’s close and the food’s decent.”
Tang Yu glanced down at her. “Been eating too much Western food, huh?”
Tang Xin blinked in confusion, not understanding what he meant.
Tang Yu’s eyes lingered on her fair, pretty face before his hand darted out to pinch her soft, rounded cheek. Her skin was silky smooth, and the sensation was so pleasant he applied a little more pressure than intended.
“Ow!” Tang Xin yelped, slapping his hand away. “What are you doing?!”
Tang Yu smirked. “Rich Girl, you’ve gained weight.”
“You’re the one who’s fat!” Tang Xin’s face flushed red. Unlike Ming Zhu, who could eat anything without gaining weight, Tang Xin’s recent diet of Western food had added about five pounds to her frame.
She subconsciously touched her face. Was it that obvious?
“Stop touching it. You’ve definitely gained weight,” Tang Yu teased. “Out of the whole crew, you’re probably the only one who did.”
Tang Xin glared at him. “If you ate pig feed every day, you’d gain weight too!”
Tang Yu couldn’t help but laugh at her indignation. Watching her flare up made the wait over the past few weeks seem worthwhile. He patted her head lightly, his mood lifted. “Alright, fine. You haven’t gained weight. Let’s eat first—I’m starving.”
“Good! Starve to death,” she muttered under her breath.
“Who’s going to pay your salary then?”
“It’s not like your company is my only option. I can write scripts or novels from home and still make money!”
Tang Yu didn’t bother to argue further and found a window seat inside the restaurant. Sitting down, he focused on his meal while Tang Xin, who had already eaten, sat across from him, propping her chin on her hands and watching him.
“Why are you staring at me?” he asked, his gaze briefly meeting hers.
“Because you’re handsome,” Tang Yu said nonchalantly.
“…”
Flattery won’t work! I’m not going to be your girlfriend just because of that!
Tang Xin lowered her head, pretending to be busy with her phone.
After finishing his meal, Tang Yu gestured at her with his chin. “Rich Girl, go pay the bill.”
He only had Chinese currency on him.
Tang Xin obediently got up to settle the bill. She reasoned that after receiving so many of his red envelopes, treating him to a meal was only fair. Taking someone’s money makes it hard to stay mad, she thought, suddenly feeling a pang of guilt.
On the way back, Tang Xin turned to look at him and couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. Tang, why did you come here?”
Tang Yu slid his hands into his pockets, his posture relaxed. “To see you.”
Tang Xin’s heart pounded as she whispered, “Why?”
“I felt like it. Does there have to be a reason?”
“…”
He said her view on love was twisted, but he wasn’t much better! Couldn’t he just say he liked her? No wonder he failed to win over Ming Zhu.
Then again, Ming Zhu had always been focused solely on Lu Zhuofeng.
The next day, Tang Yu joined the crew at the film set in the morning and spent the afternoon wandering the foreign streets with Tang Xin.
By now, everyone in the production team had noticed that Tang Yu’s visit was entirely for Tang Xin. It was bewildering—wasn’t Mr. Tang pursuing Ming Zhu before? How did he end up with Tang Xin instead?
Wouldn’t this be awkward between the two friends?
Tang Xin, however, had come to terms with it. At first, it did bother her, but Ming Zhu was undeniably beautiful. It was natural for most men to be drawn to her. Besides, Tang Xin understood Ming Zhu’s character too well—she’d never be interested in Tang Yu. And Tang Yu wasn’t the type to persist endlessly.
They were both single back then; there was no reason to hold a grudge over it.
If it had been another woman, Tang Xin might not have been so forgiving.
By evening, the crew returned to the hotel earlier than usual, as Tang Yu was hosting a dinner for the team and lead actors.
At a Chinese restaurant, Director Jiang raised his glass to Tang Yu, “Mr. Tang, your flight is tomorrow morning?”
Tang Yu smiled lightly. “Yes.”
Tang Xin glanced at him. That afternoon, Tang Yu had asked her, “Will you come back with me?”
She hadn’t answered.
If she went back with him, it would mean she had agreed to be with him.
Tang Xin was stubborn, especially after hearing about Ming Zhu and Lu Zhuofeng’s long history. If Tang Yu couldn’t outright say he liked her, she wouldn’t agree to be his girlfriend or leave with him.
After dinner, the group returned to the hotel.
Tang Xin walked behind Director Jiang, Ming Zhu, and the others, trailing slightly as the narrow hallway made it difficult to pass. Just as she was about to round the corner, someone grabbed her hand.
Her heart skipped a beat.
She turned to see Tang Yu, who glanced at her before pulling her in the opposite direction.
“Hey!” she yelped.
Ming Zhu paused and looked back, but Tang Xin was gone. Taking a few steps forward, she stopped at the corner and saw Tang Xin being dragged into the restroom at the end of the hall.
Inside the restroom, Tang Yu leaned against the sink, holding Tang Xin in place.
“What are you doing?!” she demanded, struggling against him.
This restroom was tucked away and rarely used; no one else was around.
Tang Yu’s low voice cut through the air, “Come back with me, hmm?”
Tang Xin pushed against him, but he didn’t budge. She bit her lip. “No. I’ve already said I’ll go back next month.”
“I came all the way here to bring you back. You’re really not coming?” Tang Yu’s voice grew softer, coaxing her.
“The movie is in its final stages. You’ve experienced enough these past two months. Come back with me, hmm?”
As he spoke, he leaned closer, his warm breath brushing against her face.
Tang Xin’s cheeks flushed, and her heart raced. She avoided his gaze, staring at the buttons on his shirt instead. “No…”
Tang Yu sighed deeply. “Really?”
Tang Xin’s eyes darted around nervously, her expression irresistibly adorable. “Yes. Really.”
Tang Yu’s gaze dropped to her soft, pale face, settling on her lips. “Then what do you want?”
“I’m not telling you.”
“Kisses. Do you want those?”
Tang Xin’s eyes widened in shock, and she quickly glanced up at him.
“Hmm?” Tang Yu’s face was so close their noses almost touched.
Just as their noses brushed, Tang Xin shoved him with all her might. “No—”
Before she could finish, he pulled her closer, his hand on her waist. Her head tilted back slightly as his lips crashed onto hers. His tongue swept inside, curling around hers and teasing.
A jolt of electricity ran through Tang Xin, leaving her completely limp.
His kissing skills…
She whimpered, pushing weakly against him, but his grip on her waist only tightened.
Between kisses, Tang Yu murmured in a husky voice, “Don’t move. I worked overtime for over a week and left my job to come here. You’re not going to send me back empty-handed, are you? Let me kiss you.”
“Or… come back with me?”
“… No.” She bit him in retaliation.
Tang Yu winced, narrowing his eyes. The girl in his arms had flushed cheeks and glistening eyes, soft and enticing. He chuckled, “Then let me keep kissing you.”
With that, he kissed her again, deep and lingering.
Tang Xin thought to herself, Did he really fly all this way just to take advantage of me?
Tang Yu, you big jerk!
🌍 Love Across Cultures: Kliraz’s Global Scoop on Tang-Tang!
Tang Xin and Tang Yu’s dynamic gives us such a fun window into cultural hospitality! In China, food is central to relationships—Tang Xin showing Tang Yu where the crew usually eats reflects a practical yet warm gesture. In contrast, in Turkey, the host might insist on preparing a full feast to honor the guest, while in Spain, a casual tapas crawl (visiting several bars for small dishes) might be the way to bond. Can you imagine Tang Yu eating tapas and muttering about “pig feed”? He’d need a glass of sangria to cope! (¬‿¬)/
The transformation is fascinating when you think about how dating works. In traditional Chinese matchmaking, families played a big role, arranging meetings to ensure the “right match.” Fast forward, and we see Tang Yu flying across the globe to woo Tang Xin, showing modern love’s spontaneity. Similarly, in Korea, while family expectations still weigh heavily, modern couples like to express love through surprise trips, like Tang Yu’s visit, or gift-giving. Can you picture Tang Yu with a trendy “couple ring”? (*≧▽≦)
Behaviorally, this chapter screams reciprocity. Tang Yu’s red envelopes and presence demand acknowledgment, and Tang Xin responds with cautious resistance. What’s your take on this? Do we naturally feel obligated to return kindness, or can it be a choice? (^_−)☆
