Assistant Gao immediately straightened up and said, “Understood.”

Once Assistant Gao left the office, Tang Yu picked up his phone and made a call.

Tang Xin was in the middle of brushing her teeth when her phone rang. She answered, her words muffled by the toothbrush in her mouth. “Don’t forget to collect the red packets, okay? That’s for… last night’s service fee…”

Tang Yu let out a low, disdainful scoff. “Service fee?”

Tang Xin spat out the foam and rinsed her mouth before continuing, her words now clearer. “Yeah! Didn’t you send me red packets too? Consider it reciprocity—fair and square.”

Tang Yu was speechless.

He took a deep breath, his patience wearing thin. I should’ve gone another round last night.

This woman—always so infuriating—was clearly overdue for a proper lesson.

When he sent her red packets, it was because he wanted to, because he liked seeing her joy in receiving them. How could she twist the meaning into something transactional?

Tang Yu knew exactly what Tang Xin was thinking. That was the problem—it was too clear, and it only riled him up more.

Tang Xin, waiting for his reply, eventually gave up and wandered into the living room. As expected, there was a set of keys on the coffee table. She picked them up and examined them—there were so many keys. Was Tang Yu seriously giving her access to all his properties?

But… where exactly was his place?

With a small huff, she muttered, “And for the record, I never said I’d move in with you!”

Tang Yu chuckled. “Should I move in with you instead?”

Tang Xin paused before snapping, “Your skin is getting thicker by the day!”

Leaning back in his chair, Tang Yu lit a cigarette, the soft glow illuminating his face as he took a drag. With feigned helplessness, he sighed. “Can’t help it. My girlfriend is shameless and bossy. If I don’t grow some thick skin, how else am I supposed to keep from being bullied? A man has to maintain some dignity, right?”

Tang Xin couldn’t hold back her laughter. Giggling, she teased, “Isn’t a man’s dignity built in bed?”

Tang Yu licked his lips, his tone suddenly cold. “Tang Xin, do you think I didn’t punish you enough last night?”

Her smile vanished instantly, and she shut her mouth.

“Do you really not want to live with me?” Tang Yu flicked the ash from his cigarette, his voice casual yet firm. “Didn’t you say it yourself? Don’t waste time being coy. We’re already together. We’ve already done it. Living together is the natural next step—it’s inevitable. So why delay?”

The words struck a chord.

That infamous official Weibo post was like a boulder on her back—one she’d placed there herself. Now she had no chance of overturning the situation.

What was worse, Tang Yu’s reasoning made sense. Why delay? It was going to happen eventually anyway…

“Shall I pick you up tonight?” Tang Yu asked, his tone soft, coaxing.

“…”

“Great. That’s settled.” Tang Yu chuckled, his voice warm. “Start packing your things. I’ll see you later.”

Tang Xin quickly interjected, “Let’s wait until you’re back from your business trip. You see, if I move in now, I’ll be alone in an unfamiliar place. I’ll be lonely and scared and—”

Tang Yu thought about it and found her reasoning acceptable. Stubbing out his cigarette, he said casually, “Fine. Then I’ll come to your place tonight.”

Here we go again.

Tang Xin rolled her eyes and sweetly protested, “Tang Yu, can’t I just have a peaceful night’s sleep to recharge and wait for you to come back?”

“Don’t push it,” he replied sharply.

“Take care tonight, okay? You’ve got a business trip tomorrow. Don’t overwork yourself,” Tang Xin said in her most saccharine tone.

Tang Yu chuckled. “Alright. I’ll pick you up when I’m back.”

“Okay…”

With that, the call ended.

Tang Xin’s food delivery had arrived. Sitting cross-legged on the living room carpet, she ate while watching TV and scrolling through her phone.

Curiosity led her to Douban. She bypassed all the replies to her previous posts and began typing a new one.

“I slept with the man I like. As for whether he’s any good… well, it’s hard to say. The first time? He was quick—five minutes, tops.”

She paused before adding, “The rest? Too tragic to even talk about.”

The internet never disappoints when it comes to idle chatter.

As soon as Tang Xin’s post went live, replies started flooding in.

User 1: OMG! That fast? You just announced you’re together, and you already slept with him? That’s basically a one-night stand!

User 2: Aaaah! This is so fast but so exciting! For some reason, this makes me believe in love again!

User 3: “Not sure if he’s good?” What does that even mean? Does that mean… no, you didn’t… finish?

User 4: I carefully examined the line “Too tragic to even talk about,” and it feels like you’re lowkey bragging. First time only five minutes? He’s probably a virgin. How on earth did you manage to find such a high-quality virgin in this day and age?

Tang Xin scrolled through the comments, chuckling at first. Then she froze.

A virgin?

Why had she never considered this before? Could Tang Yu really have been a virgin?

But what about his impeccable kissing skills? Where did he learn those?

The thought left Tang Xin stumped. She wanted to ask Tang Yu but was too scared to bring it up. When he got riled up, he was far more explosive than she could handle.

Better not provoke him.

That evening, she received a call from Ming Zhu.

Tang Xin and You Huan were thrilled to hear from her, eagerly waiting for her return.

Meanwhile, the production crew—comprising hundreds of people—was gradually resuming operations. The recent accident on set had caused significant disruptions. The company’s stock had dipped, and there were complications with a contract. Tang Yu’s business trip was specifically to address these issues.

Tang Xin didn’t fully understand the details but knew he was busy. Their only time to connect was in the evenings, when they could chat for a while.

Four days later, Ming Zhu finally returned.

Tang Xin accompanied Grandma and Shen Manru to pick her up. While the real reason was to see Ming Zhu, Tang Xin and Ming Zhu ended up engrossed in their own conversation. They hugged and chattered nonstop, while Grandma and Shen Manru looked on.

With them present, Tang Xin held back many of her questions and thoughts—things she wanted to ask Ming Zhu and stories she wanted to share.

There were also lingering questions about what had happened at Goliath. But she swallowed her curiosity for now.

That night, the three of them chatted briefly in a group chat. The mood was somber, dampened by the memory of the squad leader’s sacrifice. Both Tang Xin and Ming Zhu were deeply saddened.

Tang Xin couldn’t shake the image of the squad leader’s goofy yet handsome smile. How could someone like him be gone so suddenly?

Earlier, Ming Zhu had asked, “Do you think Lin Ziyu regrets it?”

Before Tang Xin could reply, Ming Zhu followed up with, “She must, right?”

Tang Xin thought about Lin Ziyu.

Would Lin Ziyu regret it? If she were in Lin Ziyu’s shoes, she knew she would.

Not only regret—but grief, profound and suffocating.

It was unimaginable.

She wasn’t Lin Ziyu and couldn’t fully understand her feelings. But the thought left her reflective—and yearning for Tang Yu.

Tang Xin sent Tang Yu a WeChat message.

“Tang Yu, I like you. Let’s be good to each other and make this work.”

Tang Yu had just returned to his hotel when he saw the message. He froze for a second, then broke into a smile.

Tang Yu: “Aren’t we already doing well together?”

Tang Xin: “We are, but it has to get even better from now on.”

Tang Yu: “Of course, Feisty Queen.”

Tang Xin: “Good. That’s my T-Rex.”
