Chapter 45: Dream Love Variety Show 5

Everyone maintained a harmonious facade, yet each harbored ulterior motives beneath the surface.

Even Qi Yuan was no exception.

Having eaten his fill, he pondered who to send his anonymous “heart-fluttering” text to—one that wouldn’t invite unwanted speculation.

Qin Ke?

Compliment his cooking?

Qi Yuan genuinely found the meal quite to his liking.

Decision made.

After tidying up, the group felt drained. Maintaining appearances and avoiding slip-ups under constant camera scrutiny wasn’t easy.

By the time they retreated to their rooms, it was 10 PM.

As per the rules, everyone began composing their anonymous messages.

Qi Yuan → Qin Ke: Qin Ke, your cooking is even better than what I’ve tasted in five-star hotels! Thank you, Chef Qin, for your culinary contributions!

Having drafted the message, Qi Yuan sent it with satisfaction.

Truth be told, he’d never actually dined at a five-star hotel. But that didn’t stop him from showering Qin Ke with praise.

After sending the text, he put down his phone, stretched lazily, showered, and washed his hair. By the time he emerged, it was exactly 10 PM, the perfect moment to start blow-drying his hair.

The hairdryer’s roar effectively drowned out any notifications from his phone.

By the time Qi Yuan picked up his phone again, about ten minutes had passed.

He unlocked it.

Looking at the text messages, Qi Yuan’s expression grew increasingly grave.

He counted—there were seven.

Has the world gone mad?

Qi Yuan didn’t quite understand.

He opened them one by one to read them.

Anonymous (You Qinghe) → Qi Yuan: I was so happy to meet you today.

Anonymous (Cheng Huan) → Qi Yuan: Your looks and build are exactly my type.

Anonymous (Jiang Wang) → Qi Yuan: The moon is beautiful tonight. Want to watch it together?

Anonymous (Qin Ke) → Qi Yuan: Thank you for your kind words. I hope my cooking will continue to please your palate.

Anonymous (Gu Yuzhu) → Qi Yuan: Wishing us a successful collaboration tomorrow.

Anonymous (Cheng Xinyi) → Qi Yuan: I don’t know how to describe my feelings for you, but the moment I saw you, my heart began to race.

Anonymous (Cyril) → Qi Yuan: My fated partner.

Qi Yuan could only recognize the senders of a few of the anonymous messages; the rest were impossible to identify.

He could already imagine the internet exploding if he publicly revealed he’d received seven heart-fluttering messages.

He would instantly become the center of attention.

He’d never seen a dating show where someone received seven messages on the very first night.

Qi Yuan silently switched off his phone, lay back on the bed, and decided to report the situation to his agent before the online frenzy erupted. He wanted to see if his company could hire online “water armies” to control the narrative.

He opened his agent’s chat window and explained the situation. Tian Liuguang quickly replied:

Tian Liuguang: ………

Tian Liuguang: My eyes must be playing tricks on me. I’m seeing things I shouldn’t.

After sending the message, Tian Liuguang waited several minutes, apparently confirming he wasn’t hallucinating, before texting again.

Tian Liuguang: What do you mean you received seven text messages?

Tian Liuguang: I thought there were only eight contestants on the show?

Qi Yuan: There are eight contestants.

Tian Liuguang: Are you serious? Seven messages?

Qi Yuan: Dead serious.

Tian Liuguang: ………

Tian Liuguang: Oh my god.

Tian Liuguang: When did you become so charismatic? I mean, you’re good-looking, but not that good-looking—enough to attract seven Top-Tier Alphas and Omegas simultaneously.

Qi Yuan couldn’t stand his agent’s skepticism.

Qi Yuan: You wouldn’t understand my irresistible charm.

After replying, he confirmed that his Dreamscape self and his agent had a pretty good relationship.

Tian Liuguang: Yeah, yeah, I still don’t get Master Qi’s charm.

Tian Liuguang: Good thing you had the sense to tell me. I’ll contact the company and try to minimize the damage once the public frenzy starts.

Tian Liushui: For your next livestream, you need to be extra, extra careful! Us eighteenth-tier Betas don’t have the die-hard fan base that Alphas and Omegas do! One slip-up and we’re done for! Don’t leave any openings!

Qi Yuan: Got it.

Typical of my manager—just like me, he’ll do anything to avoid trouble.

With the mess passed off to someone else, Qi Yuan could finally relax.

He turned off his phone and sprawled out on the bed.

No matter how deep the waters outside get, I just need to make sure this fish doesn’t drown.

By dawn, everyone except Qi Yuan was already awake. Some were preparing breakfast, while others, having skipped the meal, used the villa’s coffee machine and freshly ground beans to brew hand-drip coffee before heading off to work.

Throughout this time, the Alphas didn’t exchange a single word.

They seemed troubled by something, yet unwilling to voice it directly, keeping their thoughts bottled up.

In contrast, the Omegas’ relationships were much more harmonious.

Qin Ke, in particular, radiated visible joy.

Cheng Huan, curious, asked, “Qin Ke, did something good happen?”

Gu Yuzhu was also intrigued. He remembered Qin Ke’s introverted demeanor from yesterday all too well, and his current mood was a stark contrast.

“Yes, something wonderful did happen.”

“Come closer.”

Qin Ke didn’t want to hide anything from Cheng Huan, who had been so kind to him since they first met yesterday.

Cheng Huan leaned in obediently.

Qin Ke whispered, “Last night, Qi Yuan sent me the ‘my heart is moved’ message.”

Cheng Huan fell silent.

Even Gu Yuzhu, standing nearby, froze.

He sent it to Qin Ke?

Does he like Qin Ke’s type? Or is there some other reason?

Cheng Huan forced himself to respond, “That’s… nice.”

They quickly changed the subject, sensing that continuing the conversation would only strain their friendship.

By the time the last person who had to go to work left, Qi Yuan was the only one still asleep in the villa.

He woke up around ten, having finally enjoyed a rare lazy morning.

Reality doesn’t allow for such indulgences, he thought. I can only steal moments of laziness in my dreams—starting with sleeping in.

Qi Yuan had planned to make himself some instant noodles, but when he went downstairs and opened the refrigerator, he found two sandwiches, each labeled.

He picked one up and saw the name “Qi Yuan” written on the label, along with a smiley face.

He didn’t know who had made them, but he knew they were meant for him.

He unwrapped the sandwich, took a bite, and found it surprisingly delicious.

He poured himself a glass of milk, sat down at the dining table, and alternated between bites of sandwich and sips of milk.

Completely unaware, the live stream audience had already erupted into chaos.

Wait, why did the ‘heart flutter’ message go to a Beta?!

I don’t get it. This has to be scripted, right? How else would you get a Top-Tier Alpha and an Omega both falling for a Beta in such a melodramatic plot?

There’s no way there’s a script. Dream Love’s guests, aside from the Beta, all have complex backgrounds. Especially the ones whose identities have already been revealed—none of them would obediently follow the director’s instructions!

What the commenter above said makes sense!

So what exactly do these Top-Tier Alphas and Omegas see in the Beta? I’m genuinely curious!

The Beta is good-looking and has a great personality. He answers everyone’s questions earnestly, without being perfunctory. He has plenty of good qualities.

You could tell from day one that the Beta was a decent person. If I were sending a “heart-flutter” text based on my first-day impressions of everyone, I’d definitely send it to the Beta too.

Me too! Please stop dismissing others’ strengths and merits. The fact that they all sent the Beta “heart-flutter” texts proves he has qualities that attract them.

Stop saying Dream Love has a script! How could this development possibly be scripted? And you all know Top-Tier Alphas and Omegas aren’t the kind to just follow orders. Use your brains!

In a towering skyscraper in the heart of the city, Tian Liuguang visibly relaxed after seeing his PR team bring the online comments under control.

He was utterly exhausted, having spent the entire night handling issues for his agency’s artists. No one could endure such a grueling schedule.

Slumping over his desk, his mind finally at ease, he quickly drifted off to sleep.

When he woke up, it was already afternoon, and his limbs were numb beyond belief.

Even so, the moment he regained consciousness, he grabbed his phone and frantically checked the comment section for any signs of a resurgence.

Only after confirming that the situation remained under control did he finally notice the pins-and-needles sensation in his limbs. Grimacing, he massaged his hands and feet, propped himself up against the desk, and stretched his legs.

Next, he turned on his computer and streamed the Dream Love live broadcast.

It was perfectly timed—the guests were just returning to the villa after their work shifts.
