Chapter 96

On the first day of their trip, Yi Shanshan returned to the hotel humming a cheerful tune.

Holding Ying Yuan’s hand, she would occasionally skip lightly, twirling like a joyous fawn.

Ying Yuan watched her, an unconscious smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Sometimes, when her thoughts returned to the present, she would feel a slight ache in her cheeks from smiling too much.

As they entered their room, Yi Shanshan whirled inside, pulling Ying Yuan in after her, then closed the door.

Leaning in, she showered Ying Yuan with kisses: a peck on the lips, a touch to the cheek, a kiss on the tip of her nose, and another on her forehead—as if Ying Yuan were her most cherished toy.

Ying Yuan let the wet kisses fall upon her skin. She wrapped her arms around Yi Shanshan’s waist and asked gently, “Tired?”

“A little~ But I’m buzzing with energy~” Yi Shanshan replied.

Ying Yuan brushed aside the strands of hair that had fallen across Yi Shanshan’s neck, gathering them into her palm to let that pale skin breathe freely.

“Go take a shower,” Ying Yuan said. “I’ll give you a leg massage later.”

After climbing such a tall lighthouse today, her leg muscles desperately needed relaxation. Otherwise, she’d surely wake up sore tomorrow.

“Alright~” Yi Shanshan responded, drawing out the word with a soft, lingering tone, her breath warm against Ying Yuan’s lips. Turning her head, she planted another firm kiss on Ying Yuan’s mouth.

A loud smack echoed through the room, followed by Yi Shanshan’s hearty laughter.

Gazing intently at Ying Yuan’s lips, she teased, “I think I’ve kissed your mouth swollen…”

Ying Yuan: “Hmm?”

Yi Shanshan: “Your lips used to be so thin, they looked cold and indifferent when you weren’t talking, like you couldn’t care less about anyone.”

Ying Yuan: “I didn’t…”

Yi Shanshan lifted a fingertip and gently brushed it across Ying Yuan’s lips, silencing her protest. “Now they’re just perfect,” she continued cheerfully. “Soft, rosy, and so obedient.”

Well, okay.

Yi Shanshan simply wanted to show off the impact she had on Ying Yuan.

Ying Yuan couldn’t deny it. Her lips were indeed swollen because of Yi Shanshan, and the unprecedented warmth that constantly surged through her heart was also because of her.

Ying Yuan glanced at Yi Shanshan’s lips, noticing that they seemed fuller than before, somehow… plumper.

The thought made her smile, genuinely happy.

After clinging to each other aimlessly for a while longer, Yi Shanshan finally went to shower, taking her change of clothes with her.

While waiting, Ying Yuan busied herself with other tasks that needed to be prepared or tidied up.

When Yi Shanshan emerged, her body still damp, she was languid and relaxed. She flung herself onto the bed and urged Ying Yuan, “Hurry up and… shower.”

Ying Yuan always showered quickly, and in the bathroom still fragrant with Yi Shanshan’s scent, she didn’t dare linger any longer.

In just ten minutes, she was out again. Yi Shanshan hadn’t moved, still lying in the same position, seemingly already asleep.

Ying Yuan tiptoed to the bedside to check.

Yi Shanshan’s cheek was pressed against the pillow, her mouth pursed into an “O” shape, and her long eyelashes fluttered delicately—utterly adorable.

Ying Yuan gazed at her for a few seconds longer, but Yi Shanshan didn’t stir.

Straightening up, Ying Yuan felt conflicted. She didn’t want to disturb Yi Shanshan’s rest, yet she also didn’t want her to fall asleep like this, without fulfilling the promise she had made earlier.

Yi Shanshan lay sprawled out, clad in a short nightgown that barely reached her thighs, her limbs exposed in a careless sprawl.

The skin on her legs was delicate and porcelain-white, with faint blue veins visible beneath the surface. The backs of her knees were tinged a delicate pink, as if lightly dusted with rouge.

Ying Yuan swallowed hard, forcing herself to clear her mind of all distracting thoughts.

But Yi Shanshan seemed to have cast a spell on her, so that now every glimpse of her conjured images of their embraces and kisses.

During those kisses, Yi Shanshan would press herself into Ying Yuan’s palms, completely uninhibited, letting Ying Yuan do as she pleased.

What about now?

Would Yi Shanshan, deep in sleep, still welcome her touch?

The last vestiges of Ying Yuan’s moral boundaries wavered in her mind, like a blade of grass swaying in the wind.

As she hesitated, dazed, at the edge of the bed, Yi Shanshan kicked her leg impatiently, mumbling in her sleep—a sound that betrayed her reluctance to succumb to slumber.

“Ying Yuan~… the massage…”

Hearing her words, Ying Yuan snapped back to her senses.

As if granted permission, her movements became swift and assured.

She stepped closer and sat on the bed’s edge. “Coming, coming.”

The bed dipped slightly as Yi Shanshan shifted. She arched her back and, with a smooth motion, draped her leg over Ying Yuan’s body.

Her shin pressed against Ying Yuan’s lower abdomen, while the soft curve of her calf lay within easy reach.

Ying Yuan’s body, cooled from her recent shower, began to warm again. Her fingers drifted down, touching skin as smooth as silk.

“Mmm…” Yi Shanshan let out a contented sigh, her sound louder than Ying Yuan’s racing thoughts. She shifted closer, deepening their physical contact.

The hem of her skirt slipped lower, as if the secrets it guarded were no longer secrets at all under their owner’s casual exposure.

Ying Yuan averted her gaze, turning her head away and focusing her fingers on the massage, applying firm pressure.

“Ugh…” This time, Yi Shanshan’s moan was mixed with a whimper of pain.

“Ying Yuan, it hurts~”

“Waaah, so sore…”

“Ah! You’re digging into my bones!”

“That spot… a little higher… yes, right there…”

“Ugh… it hurts so much, but it feels so good…”

“Mmm~”

“Hiss…”

“A little harder, it doesn’t hurt as much now.”

“Your technique is amazing, Ying Yuan~”

“This leg too.”

“Ugh… You woke me up with your massage, and now you’re making me sleepy again…”

“Ying Yuan, it feels so good… Could you keep doing this until I fall asleep?”

Ying Yuan paused, stood up, and turned off the light under Yi Shanshan’s dazed, teary gaze.

The room darkened, making the moonlight outside seem even brighter.

A luminous full moon hung over the inky sea, its pale glow reflecting faintly on the water’s surface.

The balcony window wasn’t sealed tightly, and the rhythmic crashing of waves, wave after wave, filled the air—not disruptive, but profoundly calming.

Ying Yuan returned to Yi Shanshan’s side, her devotion unwavering. She rested Yi Shanshan’s leg on her lap, kneading it gently with a perfect, addictively soothing pressure.

“Sleep now,” she murmured. “Goodnight, Shanshan.”

Yi Shanshan’s lingering anxieties suddenly seemed trivial. A cloud-like drowsiness swept over her, pulling her toward the dream realm.

Maybe I don’t need so much after all.

Everything today had already been enough.

She wasn’t some insatiable, gluttonous beast; her true desire was simply to be with Ying Yuan, from dawn till dusk.

They could be intimately connected at any moment. She slept beside Ying Yuan, knowing even in her dreams that she wouldn’t leave.

A night of blissful slumber.

She slept soundly until she woke naturally.

Her dreams felt so pure, as if she had journeyed beyond the cosmos. When Yi Shanshan opened her eyes, her senses were sharp and clear, her body light as if she could float away. The sunlight, the gentle breeze, and the crashing waves all seemed dreamlike in their beauty.

She stretched her limbs wide and took a deep breath.

Turning her head, she found Ying Yuan on the other bed, about a meter away, lying on her side, facing her, sleeping peacefully.

Yi Shanshan smiled, propping her head on her hand as she gazed at Ying Yuan for a long while.

Just as Ying Yuan’s eyelashes fluttered, showing signs of waking, Yi Shanshan immediately sprang up, leaping from her bed to Ying Yuan’s, landing on top of her, blanket and all. “Yuan-dear! Good morning!” she shouted loudly.

This was the first thing Ying Yuan saw when she opened her eyes: Yi Shanshan, radiant as the morning sun, towering above her, shining down upon her, and ushering in a glorious new day.

The weight pressing down on Ying Yuan was heavy, but she gladly bore it.

Ying Yuan wished Yi Shanshan could grow onto her body from that moment on.

“Good morning~” she replied, her eyes curving into a smile, her voice involuntarily adopting the same drawn-out, wavy tone as Yi Shanshan’s.

That day remained an incredibly joyful one.

Hand in hand, they rode the light rail train across the sea to the underwater world with its glass-bottomed walkways. They marveled at countless marine creatures and later dined on delicious seafood.

Yi Shanshan loved taking photos, and Ying Yuan patiently followed her instructions, snapping shot after shot until Yi Shanshan was satisfied.

Ying Yuan loved reading, so Yi Shanshan insisted they visit the seaside library she had specially marked on their itinerary. They entered, still hand in hand, but Yi Shanshan fell silent, quietly trailing behind Ying Yuan as they wandered through row after row of bookshelves.

They kissed countless times, drawing close and affectionate whenever the mood struck.

They had become two symbiotic flowers, intertwined and inseparable in everything they did.

When they grew tired of playing and had kissed their fill, they would lie down quietly to rest.

The world gently revolved around them, with them at its center, drifting securely into dreamland.

On the third day, their itinerary took a special turn: a ferry ride to an island.

The pair woke up early, prepared everything meticulously, and set off.

Upon arriving at the harbor, they discovered the ferry had been specially decorated with pink balloons and colorful ribbons, dancing and fluttering in the sea breeze.

“Is there some kind of event happening?” Yi Shanshan asked, her large, beautiful eyes darting around.

At the ticket gate, a staff member in a sailor’s uniform smiled and announced to the crowd, “Qixi Festival Special! Couples ride together for exclusive discounts and complimentary gifts~”

“Wow!” Yi Shanshan exclaimed, grabbing Ying Yuan’s hand and darting over to grab a promotional flyer.

The flyer did promise “amazing discounts,” but only if you booked a specific hotel and participated in designated tourist activities.

And the “gifts”? They were only awarded to couples who won the island’s romantic competitions.

Ying Yuan thought it was nothing more than a consumer trap. But Yi Shanshan stared at the flyer, her eyes sparkling with excitement. The more she read, the more her enthusiasm grew.

When she finished reading and looked up at Ying Yuan, her eyes shone like tiny light bulbs—pure, innocent, excited, lively, adorable, and brimming with anticipation.

Ying Yuan swallowed back all the rational words she had been about to say.

“Look! A ‘Salted Fish’ Reversal Pillow! And a dog-head Bluetooth speaker!” Yi Shanshan exclaimed, her voice brimming with excitement.

Ying Yuan: “……”

“A toilet phone holder! And a dancing cactus!”

Ying Yuan: “……Do you really like these quirky little gadgets?”

Yi Shanshan: “I love everything!”

Yi Shanshan shook the promotional flyer with a rustle, pointing to it for Ying Yuan. “The first-place prize is a custom hand mold to be displayed in their Shi Lin scenic area!”

Ying Yuan: “Hmm… that actually sounds kind of interesting.”

“Right? Right? Right?! It’ll be so much fun!” Yi Shanshan grabbed Ying Yuan’s hand and held it up. “I’ve already thought about the pose we’ll make for the hand mold—like this, and this…”

Ying Yuan hesitated. “Our itinerary…”

Yi Shanshan looked up, her brow furrowing. “We won’t have enough time?”

Ying Yuan: “We could add it, but it would be quite tiring.”

Yi Shanshan: “I don’t mind being tired.”

A couple nearby approached a staff member with their flyer and received an event commemorative booklet. One page of the booklet was blank, ready to be filled with an Island Sticker indicating the event’s start.

“Aww…” Yi Shanshan’s eyebrows drooped, looking as pitiful as a puppy. “You can even collect stickers…”

She turned to Ying Yuan. “Ying Yuan, do you… not want to pretend to be my girlfriend?”

Ying Yuan froze, taken aback by the question’s novelty and contradiction.

In her eyes, everything they’d done these past few days already met the criteria for a romantic relationship.

Yi Shanshan wanted to kiss, to experience dating a girl, to figure out if she was actually gay. Ying Yuan had fully cooperated, almost losing herself entirely in the process.

There weren’t many “couple things” left for them to do.

Before Ying Yuan could answer, Yi Shanshan had already launched her full-scale “sweet-talk offensive.”

She squeezed herself against Ying Yuan, grabbed her arm, and shook it back and forth, her lips pursed into a pout that could hang an oil bottle. “Just for one day~ Just for one day~ Be my girlfriend for just one day~ Let’s win prizes together~ I want to play games with you~~”

Ying Yuan was finding it increasingly difficult to resist her like this.

Whenever Yi Shanshan acted cute, her heart melted into a puddle, making her utterly unable to refuse any of her requests.

“I’ll go ask if two girls are allowed to…”

Before she could finish, Yi Shanshan had already dragged her toward the ticket gate.

Even before Ying Yuan had a chance to steady herself, Yi Shanshan was already asking, “Excuse me, what are the requirements for participating in your couples’ event?”

The staff member, a young woman, smiled. “As long as you’re a couple, you’re good to go.”

“How do you verify if someone’s a couple?” Yi Shanshan asked.

“Hmm…” the staff member paused, her tone playful. “Usually, we don’t need to—it’s pretty obvious. But if we’re not sure, a quick kiss right here and now will do the trick.”

“Oh,” Yi Shanshan said, glancing at Ying Yuan.

Ying Yuan felt a strong premonition.

Sure enough, the very next second, in the middle of the crowd and under everyone’s watchful eyes, Yi Shanshan stood on tiptoe and kissed Ying Yuan’s lips.

A collective gasp rippled through the crowd.

The staff member’s eyes widened, her face a mask of disbelief as she stared at them.

As if the kiss wasn’t enough, Yi Shanshan blinked her lashes and nipped Ying Yuan’s lower lip.

Ying Yuan’s face flushed crimson instantly. Though she was getting used to Yi Shanshan’s spontaneous kisses, this public display still made her blush.

Yi Shanshan finished her kiss, completely unfazed by Ying Yuan’s flushed face or the stares of the crowd. She simply tilted her head and addressed the staff member, “To save you the trouble of figuring it out, we took the initiative to ‘verify’ ourselves.”

Still stunned, the staff member could only stammer, “Ah…”

“Give me the event booklet, please,” Yi Shanshan said.

“Oh, sure,” the Miss replied, handing it over.

Yi Shanshan flipped to the collection page with satisfaction. “Can I have the starting sticker?”

The Miss flustered, hastily tore off a sticker and stuck it in Yi Shanshan’s booklet.

“Got it!” Yi Shanshan chirped, waving the booklet at Ying Yuan.

Ying Yuan’s face still burned. Yi Shanshan ordered, “Girlfriend, get our boat tickets out. It’s time to board!”

Girlfriend.

The blush on Ying Yuan’s face deepened, spreading like boiling water, steaming intensely.

She couldn’t speak, only follow Yi Shanshan’s instructions: show their tickets, then trail beside her as they moved forward.

Yi Shanshan looped her arm through Ying Yuan’s, resting her head on her shoulder.

Grinning brightly and triumphantly, she whispered to Ying Yuan, “If you’d asked her if two girls could board, she’d have treated it as a special case and had to consult her supervisor. By asking about the conditions directly, we met them and sailed through!”

Ying Yuan: “……”

That makes sense. It’s a clever approach.

Yi Shanshan continued to press herself against her, as if she wanted to walk the remaining few steps entirely in Ying Yuan’s arms.

“Girlfriend, our one-day coupledom begins now~ I hope you’ll take this seriously. I mean, treat me earnestly as your girlfriend, you know?”

A monumental dilemma suddenly loomed in Ying Yuan’s mind, demanding careful analysis, meticulous planning, and a decisive solution.

Yet Yi Shanshan kept upping the stakes. Far from being a pitiful puppy, she was still that cunning Little Fox, full of tricks and schemes.

“If you treat me today exactly as you did yesterday, that means we’re already dating.

“So stop making excuses, darling. Just admit it—you like me, and you want to be my girlfriend~”
