My Straight Girlfriend with Skin Hunger Syndrome - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Ying Yuan nearly dropped her phone in shock. Yi Shanshan’s message was like a depth charge, obliterating the audacious fantasies she’d just begun to entertain.
She couldn’t even begin to imagine the living hell it would be if Yi Shanshan were her roommate.
Panic surged through Ying Yuan as she paced in circles, clutching her phone. How could she respond to dissuade Yi Shanshan from this absurd idea?
Meanwhile, Mao Mao and Xiaohan were each engrossed in their own worlds, glued to their phones and giggling foolishly.
A flash of inspiration struck Ying Yuan. She replied: Sharing a dorm might not be more convenient. My roommates are practically always in the room.
Sorry, Mao Mao and Xiaohan, you’ve become my human shields.
Oh, I see…
A message came back, followed by the “typing…” indicator.
Ying Yuan waited anxiously for the twist hidden behind those ellipses. But after several intermittent bursts of typing, the final message arrived: Then it wouldn’t be a good fit after all.
Ying Yuan was genuinely surprised. Yi Shanshan had given up on the idea so easily, which meant her explanation had been remarkably effective. Though Yi Shanshan needed her, she detested being interrupted during the process.
Mm, not suitable, Ying Yuan quickly added.
Yi Shanshan:
[Crying kitten emoji]
I’m so jealous of you.
You get to lie on Ying Yuan’s bed.
Ying Yuan: ……
Her heart skipped a beat. A straight girl’s casual flirting could be lethal.
Good night, Ying Yuan said.
But that night, Ying Yuan was anything but at peace.
The bed that usually felt perfectly normal now felt utterly wrong in every way.
First, the texture. The parts covered by her pajamas were fine, but where her skin touched the sheets, the slight roughness made her heart itch.
She couldn’t help but wonder how Yi Shanshan could find such roughness comfortable. After all, Yi Shanshan’s skin was as smooth as milk.
Second, the scent. What exactly was that special fragrance? Ying Yuan buried her face in the sheets, sniffing secretly. It was just the ordinary smell of laundry detergent. But Yi Shanshan had insisted it wasn’t that—she’d said it was Ying Yuan’s own scent.
Ying Yuan couldn’t smell herself at all. Instead, she thought the bed Yi Shanshan had slept in had a faint, almost imperceptible sweet fragrance. The moment she caught a whiff of it, Ying Yuan felt utterly ashamed.
Finally, there was the dream. Ying Yuan struggled to fall asleep, her mind racing with thoughts of Yi Shanshan. Unsurprisingly, her dream was filled with Yi Shanshan as well.
She dreamt that Yi Shanshan suddenly grabbed her hand as they passed each other in school. In the dream, Yi Shanshan raised Ying Yuan’s hand high and proudly introduced her to everyone:
“Hey! This is Ying Yuan, my absolute best friend in the world! I love her more than anything!”
Then they suddenly tumbled onto the bed in Ying Yuan’s dormitory—the very bed with its blue-and-white checkered sheets, now crumpled into ripples like the surface of a lake.
Beneath her, Yi Shanshan transformed into a playful creature, rolling over on her back, her four adorable paws splayed out to reveal her snowy-white belly. Then she arched her back, her rear end swaying teasingly at Ying Yuan, tail held high and erect.
Ying Yuan couldn’t resist any longer. The joy in her heart overflowed like ripples spreading through water. She leaned down, gently pinning the small creature, kneading and stroking it, then buried her face in its soft fur. A slight tilt of her head brought her lips close enough to kiss it.
Ying Yuan’s body trembled lightly. Awakened by her own arousal, she lay staring into the dark, unable to calm down for a long time.
The next day was packed with classes under a clear, warm spring sun.
No one knew what Ying Yuan had dreamed the night before. Backpack slung over her shoulder, she walked through campus, spending a quiet day without Yi Shanshan.
That evening, Mao Mao and Xiaohan were discussing going to Blue Sky KTV on Friday to sing karaoke and asked Ying Yuan if she wanted to join.
Considering their karaoke sessions usually lasted all night, Ying Yuan declined.
Mao Mao and Xiaohan weren’t surprised; they were used to Ying Yuan’s university life, which seemed devoid of any entertainment.
Mao Mao ran to the neighboring dorm room to call out for Lina, who excitedly agreed. Since their last tea party, the three had grown much closer, often gathering to chat about endless, tireless topics.
On Friday, Ying Yuan waited for news from Yi Shanshan.
Yi Shanshan: I might need to bother you again. Around 10 PM, meet me off campus.
Ying Yuan: Where exactly?
Yi Shanshan: Not far—Blue Sky KTV in Huiguo Plaza.
Ying Yuan: ……
Why do our plans keep colliding? Is the entertainment life of modern female college students really so limited? Everyone’s gathering at the same time, at the same place—the moment the doors of Blue Sky KTV open, it’ll be swarming with A University students.
Ying Yuan hesitated.
Yi Shanshan: I won’t make you uncomfortable. I’ll get you a private room. You can sing, read, or do whatever you want in there. No one will bother you.
That’s really not necessary.
Ying Yuan disliked inconveniencing others, and she certainly didn’t want to read in an environment like that. It would be too… performative.
Ying Yuan: No need to go to all that trouble. My roommates and I were planning to go karaoke that night anyway.
Ying Yuan looked up at her roommates. “Hey… I’ll join you guys for the Friday outing.”
Mao Mao, Xiaohan, and Lina: “OMG! The stars have aligned! Ying Yuan’s actually going to hang out with us!!!”
The three were ecstatic. With only one afternoon class, they huddled together after class to plan their outfits and makeup.
Ying Yuan, completely clueless about such things, simply focused on her homework.
By the time the trio lined up before her, striking dazzling poses, Ying Yuan had nearly finished her assignment.
She clapped her hands and said, “You all look amazing, absolutely stunning!”
Mao Mao: “We’re going for a spring theme today! Pink and green elements everywhere!”
Lina: “We’re gonna slay! Blue Sky KTV better be ready!”
Xiaohan: “We’re all dressed to the nines—you can’t just leave yourself out, can you?”
Ying Yuan: “Um… well…”
She glanced around her bunk, searching for anything pink or green. But nothing caught her eye.
The only thing these vibrant colors reminded her of was… Yi Shanshan.
Ying Yuan blinked, thinking: I can’t exactly bring Yi Shanshan with me.
Xiaohan grabbed her arm. “See? That’s why we need to dress you up! You’re already here, so just let us work our magic!”
Ying Yuan had to admit she made a good point. She used to be a complete loner, but now she figured being a little more sociable wouldn’t hurt.
She put down her pen and stood up, letting her friends take over.
At nine o’clock that evening, the four of them arrived at Blue Sky KTV.
Their makeovers had worked wonders. The four vibrant young women drew plenty of attention as they walked together.
The heavy makeup made Ying Yuan’s eyes feel a little uncomfortable, and Xiaohan’s flamboyant outfit was a bit too much for her taste. But sandwiched between her familiar friends, the awkwardness faded, turning into a novel experience.
Ying Yuan waited quietly in the lobby while her friends checked in. Neon lights pulsed in the dimly lit KTV, and a group of truly trendy people strolled down the hallway. Despite it being springtime, some wore fur coats, others miniskirts, thigh-high boots, or even flip-flops…
They were dripping with flashy jewelry, perfectly complementing the ostentatious, glittering environment.
The leader of the group looked vaguely familiar. Ying Yuan quickly dredged up the memory: it was Yi Shanshan’s friend.
Her back straightened instantly, her gaze locking into focus. Ying Yuan peered behind the group, where a new cluster of people rounded the corner. Among them, laughing joyfully, was the purple-clad little witch… Yi Shanshan, as expected.
Yi Shanshan was dressed in an even more extravagant outfit today. Her shimmering magical dress featured black studded straps that cinched her waist into a stunning hourglass figure, creating a look that was both sweet and edgy.
Her hair was styled in low pigtails adorned with colorful trinkets. A pointed purple witch’s hat completed the ensemble, with makeup perfectly coordinated with her outfit.
Ying Yuan had seen Yi Shanshan in countless guises, but never quite like this.
Yi Shanshan was like a fully automated 3D dress-up game, appearing in a new outfit every time they met, each one further amplifying her beauty.
Ying Yuan couldn’t tear her eyes away. Xiaohan, sensing the shift in her attention, followed her gaze.
“Wow—” Xiaohan couldn’t suppress her awe.
Mao Mao and Lina immediately turned their heads.
Lina exclaimed, “Oh my god, not her again! How do we keep running into her everywhere we go?!”
Mao Mao chimed in, “Holy mother of pearl, is this some kind of fashion show?”
In truth, it wasn’t just the four of them. A group like that would naturally draw every eye within sight. Even the receptionist couldn’t help but pause to stare.
They knew everyone was staring, yet they acted completely unfazed, as if their private conversations held an endless fascination that no outsider could possibly understand or join.
All anyone could do was watch them leave.
They should have left under everyone’s gaze.
But Yi Shanshan suddenly stopped, turned, and even took a step back.
She pushed up her decorative glasses frames perched on her delicate, straight nose. Her large eyes, framed by smoky eyeshadow, blinked sharply before locking onto Ying Yuan.
Lina frowned deeply and muttered in a barely audible voice, “I knew she’d cause trouble for Ying Yuan.”
As if to confirm Lina’s suspicions, Yi Shanshan strode toward them the very next moment.
All eyes in the venue immediately turned to focus on the group of four pure-looking female college students.
A smile played on Yi Shanshan’s lips as she approached. She had been scrutinizing them from afar, continued to do so as she walked closer, and when she finally stood before Ying Yuan, she examined her thoroughly from head to toe.
“What do you want?” Lina couldn’t help but ask, still fearful Yi Shanshan might harm Ying Yuan.
But Yi Shanshan didn’t even seem to hear her. Her entire focus was fixed on Ying Yuan.
The casual shirt highlighted Ying Yuan’s beautiful shoulders. With her hair down, she exuded a crisp, aloof elegance. The eyeliner, slightly extended at the corners of her eyes, suddenly gave her an alluringly aggressive edge…
“You look stunning today,” Yi Shanshan said, her eyes brimming with undisguised delight, as if she had stumbled upon something extraordinary.
