Chapter 134. Extra 1.6: Qi Hongyue x Wen Can: “You’ve done well.”
Nothing happened.
The flap of a butterfly’s wings did not trigger a cascade of catastrophic consequences.
Qi Hongyue had countless matters to attend to. New messages flooded her phone, and in the blink of an eye, the momentary melancholy of the previous moment vanished.
Wen Can’s travels continued for about a week, with occasional photo updates: clear blue skies, fields of flowers in full bloom, radiant smiles—everything sparkled.
After a hectic period, Qi Hongyue would occasionally catch a glimpse, admire the photos for a moment, then close the app.
Her career surged and dipped, but her personal life remained placid. The number of projects she produced and released surged rapidly, and the cash flow in her company’s accounts swelled accordingly.
Another half-year passed. Qi Hongyue relocated her small workshop from a residential building to a commercial office tower in the high-tech district.
With the arrival of another graduation season, she hired new faces, further expanding her company’s scale.
Yi Shanshan came to visit and remarked that compared to those fresh faces, Qi Hongyue’s gaze had grown calculating and shrewd, utterly devoid of innocence.
Qi Hongyue took this as a compliment and thanked her.
Yi Shanshan, furious, howled and jumped into Ying Yuan’s arms, where she needed comforting for a long while.
Qi Hongyue found their public displays of affection almost painful to watch, yet she couldn’t help but think romance seemed nice… as long as she only had to observe others indulging in it.
As autumn arrived, another game co-developed by Qi Hongyue and Canxing achieved resounding success.
Buoyed by this triumph, Canxing began preparing to raise the stakes, aiming to launch a mobile game for the domestic market. While the potential market was vast, the challenges loomed even greater.
The project demanded an extended development cycle and a bottomless well of financial investment, requiring deeper bonds and stronger mutual trust between the partners.
Thus, Wen Can once again assumed leadership of the project.
After so much time had passed, Qi Hongyue received a call from Wen Can again. The name flashing on her screen felt almost unfamiliar.
“Xiao Yue~” Wen Can greeted her affectionately, immediately adding, “You’re truly amazing! My judgment never fails.”
“It’s the result of everyone’s hard work,” Qi Hongyue replied.
“Happy? Your career is skyrocketing!”
Before someone as sharp as Wen Can, Qi Hongyue let slip some carefully controlled truths: “Happiness is fleeting. Right now, I’m more focused on planning for the future and worrying about it.”
“Hmph…” Wen Can sighed deeply, her voice growing languid. “I told you, work is never-ending. If your life revolves solely around work, you’re missing out on half the wonders the world has to offer.”
“Mm.” Qi Hongyue didn’t argue. She knew what she’d sacrificed for her career, but she didn’t mind losing these years. “Once our mobile game launches smoothly, I’ll finally take a proper break.”
Wen Can chuckled, a soft laugh that tickled Qi Hongyue’s ear—a mix of helplessness and fondness that made her skin tingle.
“Let’s talk in person,” Wen Can suggested. “Are you free between the 13th and 15th? I need to go to Z City for market research—light workload, but the tasks are scattered. If you could join me, it would make things much easier and more efficient for me.”
Qi Hongyue reviewed her schedule and quickly replied, “I can make that work.”
Wen Can’s smile lingered. “Were you already free?” she asked, “or did you have to rearrange your schedule?”
Qi Hongyue: “Work schedules and tasks have always been fluid, depending on urgency and importance.”
Wen Can: “So, I’m more important right now?”
“Mm,” Qi Hongyue said. “I’m very confident in our collaboration.”
What a pointless call. For Wen Can, it was all business, with not even a hint of flirtation.
After hanging up, Wen Can raised an eyebrow, a thoughtful expression settling on her face.
Zhang Hanxing, seeing her like this, couldn’t resist asking, “What’s wrong? Did the kid upset you again?”
Wen Can: “When has that brat ever made me happy? All he cares about is my money—he couldn’t care less about me as a person.”
Zhang Hanxing burst into laughter. “The sea king defeated! I love to see it!”
Wen Can rolled her eyes. Zhang Hanxing leaned closer, eager for gossip. “After all this time, you still can’t let him go? Why not just be bold?”
Wen Can glared at her. “Lose all dignity? Abandon my business? Just let him play with me?”
Zhang Hanxing shrugged. “Honestly, I’m not optimistic about your mobile game. You know how the domestic market is—making good content alone won’t cut it.”
“She hasn’t even started yet,” Wen Can retorted. “How can you say she’ll mess up everything else? What if she’s as good at everything else as she is with the content? What if she’s just someone who succeeds at whatever she does?”
“Oh, you’re so protective of your own,” Zhang Hanxing teased.
Wen Can nodded, readily admitting, “Yeah, she’s someone I recruited and watched grow. With such talent, I can’t help but cherish her.”
Zhang Hanxing leaned back in her chair, spinning it around. “One minute you’re complaining she’s only after your money, the next you’re worried she won’t spend enough of it. You support her career, yet you resent that her career is all she cares about. You’re so contradictory, Can Can! What do you really want?”
Wen Can pondered for a long moment before finally saying, “If you never believed in her anyway, then it won’t matter if it fails…”
“Hey, that’s not what I meant! We can’t sabotage things on purpose! Who would turn down more money?” Zhang Hanxing protested.
“Just stay out of it. I’ll handle this deal myself,” Wen Can insisted.
Zhang Hanxing sat bolt upright in shock. “Holy crap! You like her that much? You’d break up our partnership for her?”
“Break it up.” Wen Can waved her hand dismissively, a smile spreading across her face. “I’m going to gamble big.”
Early on the morning of the 13th, Qi Hongyue landed in Z City.
Arriving at the hotel agreed upon with Wen Can ahead of schedule, she meticulously reviewed the project proposal before exploring the hotel’s dining area and nearby restaurants.
True to her expectations, Qi Hongyue found cuisine that suited Wen Can’s refined palate and ordered a bouquet of premium fresh flowers.
By noon, Wen Can arrived.
She was greeted by a room fragrant with flowers and Qi Hongyue, who radiated a refreshing, gentle, yet proactive demeanor.
“Aiyo,” Wen Can exclaimed, flashing a radiant smile at her long-unseen partner, “Did this hotel not prepare flowers? Did you order them?”
“Mm,” Qi Hongyue replied. “Big Sister, it’s been a while.”
Wen Can’s heart skipped a beat. Looking at Qi Hongyue, she realized how much the girl had grown. Her eyes held both composure and sharpness, the deliberate coldness and indifference she once projected now softened. It seemed as though no matter what challenges life threw her way, she could handle them with grace.
“So obedient?” Wen Can tilted her head, admiring her. “Will you call me ‘Big Sister’ for the next few days?”
Qi Hongyue walked over and took Wen Can’s suitcase. “If Big Sister likes it, I’d be happy to.”
Wen Can stared at her without a word. Qi Hongyue helped her put away her luggage, then asked, “Are you tired? Should we eat first, or would you prefer to rest? There’s a Hunan restaurant a hundred meters north—they serve your favorite dishes.”
Wen Can’s lips curled slightly. “Are you taking this collaboration that seriously, Xiao Yue? Going to such lengths…”
“It’s the least I can do,” Qi Hongyue replied, her words ringing with genuine sincerity and righteousness. “I’ve always been truly grateful for your trust and support, Big Sister.”
“I see…” Wen Can shrugged off her coat, kicked off her heels, and padded barefoot across the floor to sit on the soft edge of the bed.
“Then I might as well take advantage of your gratitude,” she said. “Come here and massage my shoulders. The headrest on the plane was so uncomfortable—my neck is killing me…”
In the brightly lit room, Wen Can wore a cream-colored V-neck sweater and a camel-colored pencil skirt, her long hair pinned up to reveal the elegant curve of her shoulders and neck.
And it wasn’t just her shoulders and neck that were beautiful… every curve of her body was stunning…
Wen Can’s figure embodied mature femininity to its fullest extent. If Qi Hongyue’s gaze lingered even two seconds too long, she would have to sternly remind herself, “Do not look upon what is improper.”
Lowering her gaze, Qi Hongyue moved closer to Wen Can.
Wen Can leaned back, offering herself into Qi Hongyue’s waiting palm.
As Qi Hongyue’s fingertips landed on her skin, the temperature surged, and her body heat released a fragrance—a layered floral scent, intoxicating and enveloping.
Neither spoke. Wen Can even closed her eyes.
Standing behind her, Qi Hongyue’s presence was overwhelming, a palpable force enveloping her. Yet the fingertips grazing Wen Can’s neck carried an even greater weight.
The strength was firm, but not harsh. You could feel it—a power originating from the palm, flowing through the slender fingers, and settling gently, deliberately, across your skin.
This wasn’t merely skin-deep. It penetrated deeper:
Muscles, bones, the deep hollows between joints, the veins tracing their course downward…
Wen Can longed to relax into this comfort, yet found herself tensing unconsciously at Qi Hongyue’s slightest movements.
The gentle friction of fingertips against her skin as they shifted position.
The way Qi Hongyue gathered her loose hair, fastening the clasp behind her head with a tender touch.
Her sudden closeness, her breath warm against Wen Can’s ear.
And then, the relief as her fatigued muscles loosened, followed by Qi Hongyue’s entire palm enveloping her neck, pressing tightly, deepening the pressure…
Qi Hongyue’s fingers were exceptionally long.
Her palms were broad enough that, even gripping from behind, her fingertips could brush the skin at the front of her neck. Wen Can even felt as though every swallow in her throat transmitted directly to Qi Hongyue’s fingers—as if her every feeling and thought were known to her.
Wen Can loved her little sister, but she found merely sweet and simple sisters boring.
A blank sheet of paper requires no exploration, no entanglement. And the most exquisite moments of love lie in that knowing yet murky ambiguity, in the dance of mutual understanding and unspoken desires.
Wen Can relished a little sister who was her equal in wits and skill. At times, she even longed to be dominated, to be controlled.
Just like now. Qi Hongyue could turn her around at any moment, seize her breath, and cover her body, enveloping her in shadow.
Qi Hongyue’s rationality was a fragile line. Wen Can longed for the floodgates to burst, for the pent-up pressure to erupt in a torrent of passion.
Pure, transcendent ecstasy.
“Mmm…” Wen Can murmured softly.
Qi Hongyue’s fingertips paused momentarily. Wen Can smiled and said, “You’re doing so well.”
“Little Yue, you do everything so perfectly.”
