Chapter 147: I Just Want to Marry You
Upon hearing the werewolf’s report,
Levni turned gracefully, her face full of confusion as she said, “How could a mere human possibly accomplish this? Is he perhaps a grain merchant?”
“He doesn’t seem to be a grain merchant. He came alone,” the werewolf answered honestly.
Levni became even more perplexed, “Then what method did he use?”
“This subordinate doesn’t know. He only said that the lord has no other choice, so why not give it a try?” the werewolf continued to answer.
Levni pondered for a moment, a cold expression on her face, “It seems this fellow has an agenda. Well, if he can save the town from famine, these motives don’t matter much. Bring him in.”
“Yes!”
The werewolf acknowledged and left the castle.
Shortly after, Luo Sheng entered from outside.
Before him now, Levni appeared like a mature queen, her figure elegant and voluptuous, her long legs filled with indescribable allure. Her face expressionless, her long succubus tail coiled around her milk-white thighs, and atop her head were brown-black goat horns.
She exuded the aura of a mature woman, or perhaps the seductiveness of a femme fatale.
She sat on a stone throne, legs crossed, one hand propping up her exquisite, beautiful, and dignified chin, sizing him up with interest.
“I hear you can solve the famine in the city?”
“That can be understood as such, Lady Lord.”
“Then tell me, what method will you use to solve the famine?” Levni’s voice was quite calm, but it already carried a flavor of natural authority, especially with her lazy demeanor, like an emperor in the palace full of schemes.
Luo Sheng wasn’t intimidated by her. After all, Levni was his own card, how could she turn the tables on him?
He said casually, “That requires analyzing specific problems specifically. Of course, I only play a supporting role in this. The key ultimately depends on you.”
“Depends on us?” Levni was stunned for a moment.
“Interesting.” She revealed a cold and charming smile, then said, “If you fail, does that mean you humans are provoking us demons?”
Demi-humans are generally referred to as demons by humans, and over time, they also use ‘demons’ to represent themselves.
Faced with her slightly threatening tone, Luo Sheng remained unfazed and calmly said, “No, if I fail, it only represents me as an individual. After all, I don’t represent humans, at least not the humans here.”
“Interesting. Tell me, what’s your purpose?” Levni asked calmly, then added, “I hope you won’t say it’s for the demons in the town. Humans and demons are mortal enemies now.”
Her deep, bright eyes were like eagle eyes, staring sharply at Luo Sheng. Ordinary excuses would hardly fool her.
But Luo Sheng smiled slightly, saying nonchalantly, “Of course not. My purpose is simple, it’s for you.”
“For me?” Levni was stunned for a while.
Luo Sheng then continued to explain, “Making you stronger is my purpose, nothing more.”
“Hmm… what a strange purpose.” Levni’s face was full of confusion as she pressed on, “Then, what benefit is there for you if I become stronger? To reclaim human territories for you, to become the supreme ruler, or perhaps to make me a puppet of the demons, convenient for humans to control demons in the future?”
“No, I said earlier, I don’t represent humans.” Luo Sheng found her very paranoid, but he still patiently said, “I want to become your husband, Lady Lord. I wonder if this counts as a real reason?”
This was the best explanation Luo Sheng could think of for now, much better than for country or people, or any other purpose.
Levni’s phoenix eyes narrowed into a line, and a cold wind burst forth from her center, along with a faint pressure.
Unfortunately, it didn’t have much effect on Luo Sheng.
The werewolf beside Levni said, “Lord, shall we kill him? He’s provoking you. A lowly human actually dares to dream of becoming your husband.”
Other guards nodded as well. They had never seen such a shameless person before.
Coming in and immediately wanting to marry the lord, this situation, they had never seen in their lives.
“Interesting.” Levni didn’t pay attention to the werewolf beside her, only saying simply.
Because she found that Luo Sheng indeed didn’t seem as simple as he appeared on the surface. Normally, humans would tremble under her pressure, but he not only seemed fine, but also seemed confident that she wouldn’t attack him.
This increasingly piqued Levni’s interest. She very much wanted to know what Luo Sheng’s real purpose was in wanting to become her husband. Was it to bring peace between demons and humans? Or was it just to stay in the territory and secretly collect various intelligence about demons?
However, Levni herself wasn’t sure about either possibility, and might even negate them.
After all, she was just a low-class, impure-blooded succubus, unable to decide demon affairs. As for collecting intelligence in the territory, this frontier town was a barren land, with no intelligence value to speak of.
Finally, was he really just purely wanting to marry her?
The credibility wasn’t high either, because humans and demons discriminated against each other, making it almost impossible to match.
Throughout history, examples of humans and demons becoming couples could be counted on one hand with fingers to spare. So, a human wanting to marry her must surely involve something else, which she found interesting.
Levni put down the hand that was propping up her chin, speaking a bit more solemnly, “I can let you try. However, if you fail, you must apologize… Of course, if you succeed, I still can’t marry you. Your appearance is too abrupt. But I can let you stay in the small town, or reside in the castle for a few days.”
“No problem.”
Luo Sheng agreed verbally, but if he failed, he could escape.
Moreover, on his way here, he had already discovered a solution. The place was actually quite rich in resources, but the long years of heavy snow blocking the mountains created a “desolate” landscape.
Especially after seeing many demi-human hunters, Luo Sheng could also confirm one point: hunting was one of the most important food sources for the small town. But because the blizzard covered everything and animals were hibernating, many hunters could only return empty-handed.
“Let’s start now,” Levni said indifferently.
Luo Sheng didn’t move, but instead asked, “Do you know which mountain is rich in resources? Because my method can only be used once a day. If we choose the wrong place, you’ll have to wait until the next day.”
“Hmm?” Levni looked at him with interest, then ordered the werewolf beside her, “You tell him. And fulfill his requests.”
“Yes, Lord.” The werewolf nodded reluctantly, hanging his head and drooping his tail, unwilling.
Then he led Luo Sheng out.
And said, “Mr. Luo, do you have any other requests? Tell me all at once, so I don’t have to run back and forth.”
Luo Sheng didn’t mind his attitude, and said, “Go tell the hunters in the small town who want to eat meat to come over. If they’re late, they can only eat grass roots. There’s only one chance today.”
The werewolf looked at him suspiciously, but finally nodded his wolf head, “Alright, I’ll be right back.”
