Lu Rong was caught by Qiu Ling, who was waiting outside the Wuji Pavilion, as soon as she came out.

“Rongrong, are you alright?” Qiu Ling asked worriedly.

“I’m fine.” Lu Rong replied, then noticed that Senior Brother Minhui wasn’t there and asked, “Where’s Senior Brother Minhui?”

Qiu Ling coughed lightly. “Senior Brother Minhui is seriously injured.”

Lu Rong remembered Zhou Li slapping Minhui away and knew in her heart that he must be badly hurt.

Zhou Li had never actually hurt anyone in front of her before. This was the first time she had seen him angry and cursing.

“How is he now?” she asked, feeling a little guilty.

“My father is healing him.”

Hearing this, Lu Rong was slightly relieved, though she still didn’t know Zhou Li’s condition.

She hurriedly told Qiu Ling, “It’s good that you’re alright. I’m going back.”

She was about to leave when Qiu Ling grabbed her. “I think Venerable Jian is injured, too. Aren’t you going to check on him?”

Lu Rong quickly pulled her closer and whispered, “A’Ling, are those flowers on the vine demon really that dangerous?”

“I don’t really understand either, but my father looked very serious when he talked about Venerable Jian’s injury.” Qiu Ling had never encountered a vine demon like this before.

Though she didn’t linger, under Qiu Ling’s gossipy gaze, Lu Rong awkwardly said, “He’s so powerful, he’ll definitely heal himself.”

Then she left without stopping.

Qiu Ling watched the direction she flew on her sword, narrowing her eyes. That wasn’t the way back to Zhuiyu Tower.

But Lu Rong didn’t return there. She flew straight toward Wuhui Ravine.

Halfway there, realizing she was still covered in the stench of the vines, she returned to her quarters, quickly bathed, changed into fresh clothes, and then rushed to Zhou Li’s place.

During this time, Lu Rong anxiously checked the jade pendant several times, but Zhou Li didn’t respond. For a moment, she even feared that the fire inside him had burned him alive.

When she arrived at Wuhui Ravibe on her sword, she saw layers of barriers still intact. No aura escaped, and Bing Lie blocked the entrance to Wuhui Tower. It was clear that Zhou Li’s condition was serious.

Lu Rong immediately used her Bailidun technique to enter the barrier.

Upon stepping into the tower, the air was filled with a piercing cold, like freshly fallen snow, making her inhale sharply. Realizing this aura was probably Zhou Li’s arousal scent, she quickly held her breath.

Bing Lie seemed unaware of her presence, and Lu Rong felt as if she were sneaking around.

Perhaps because of the biting cold, her heart tightened as she approached the tightly closed door, knowing that once inside, her innocence might be compromised.

But remembering how Zhou Li had protected her, she bit her lip and gently pushed the door.

The door didn’t open easily, confirming that Zhou Li didn’t want anyone entering. Lu Rong’s hesitation turned to confusion. He didn’t want anyone to touch him, but could he really die like this?

She again used her Bailidun to sneak into the room. Inside, frost had formed everywhere, as if she had stumbled into a frozen wonderland.

Looking up in awe, she thought Zhou Li might be trying to freeze himself to death.

The room was empty. She scanned the surroundings.

“Zhou Li?” she whispered, but there was no response. She did hear something rustling on the floor.

Was it…his tail?

Lu Rong approached the partition screen and peeked inside. She saw a person sitting quietly on the bed, meditating.

His face was flushed, sweat dripping constantly, veins bulging on his forehead and neck from suppressed pain.

But the most alarming sight was his injured palm. Bright red blood flowed from his fingertips, dripping onto the floor.

Lu Rong’s expression changed. Normally, such a minor injury would be trivial for Zhou Li, but this indicated something far more serious—he was self-harming.

Her eyes widened as she watched him breathe heavily in pain, then clench his fist tighter, causing even more crimson blood to flow, staining his sleeve.

She rushed over and grabbed his hand. “Zhou Li! Don’t hurt yourself!”

Holding his blood-soaked hand, she looked up and saw Zhou Li’s eyes open.

The air itself seemed crimson, thick with a desire that threatened to consume her utterly.

It’s over, Lu Rong thought instinctively. In the next instant, a hand seized her waist, pinning her forcefully to the cold bed.

She stared at him nervously. “You… you…”

Zhou Li looked back, a last thread of rationality holding. “Lu Rong,” he said, his voice strained. “Aren’t you afraid? I am a demon in heat.”

She was. But seeing him tormented by desire, that faint, struggling restraint, made her want to provoke him further. “I’m not afraid of you,” she breathed.

Her eyes fixed on his lips, remembering the kiss she’d been denied. Seeking to soothe that earlier frustration, she lifted her head and pressed her mouth to his.

The moment she made contact, he reacted like a starved wolf. His lips parted, prying hers open to claim her. His tongue delved deep, fiercely tangling with hers, sucking as if he could devour her whole. It pushed past her teeth, a shocking invasion that felt like it reached her throat.

A wave of numbness shot down her neck. Her throat constricted nervously, and a faint blush spread across her skin. Their scorching breaths mingled. Lu Rong tilted her head back, meeting his kiss, as the hand on her waist tightened relentlessly, rubbing against her through the fabric.

Overwhelmed, she squirmed, her waist arching—and felt two distinct points of searing heat press against her thin clothing, their presence undeniable and intimidating. “Stop,” she gasped, fear finally sparking.

Instead, Zhou Li lowered his body, covering her completely. Sensing the danger, Lu Rong trembled, trying to turn her head away.

The hand that had been gripping hers released its hold to wrench at her belt, dragging her back to him. The fragile sash snapped in his grasp. Her tightly fastened robe loosened, revealing the moon-white silk of her undergarment, which clung to the soft curves beneath.

A bead of hot sweat fell from his jaw onto her skin. She flinched at the scalding sensation, a muffled groan escaping her. The faint blush on her body deepened instantly to a fevered red, like fruit ripened to bursting, its sweet juice ready to spill at the slightest touch.

His lips never left hers, feasting on her mouth with insatiable hunger. His lips were sated, but the rest of him was not. Driven by need, she reached up to push his head lower, offering her neck.

Zhou Li suppressed a smile. Defying her silent command, his lips refused to descend. Instead, he trailed kisses across her face, his tongue flicking over her reddened eyelids, while his restless palm strayed downward.

Lost in sensation, she barely registered the movement until his burning palm pressed down.

Her mind went blank. Her legs clamped together instinctively. She looked up at him, eyes wide with a silent, pleading no, and shook her head.
