Lu Rong grabbed Zhou Li, wanting to apologize.

After all, that night she had bitten him so passionately, and then said she’d forgotten—words unbecoming of her.

He had even gone to great lengths to forge a sword for her; she really shouldn’t have behaved that way.

But under Zhou Li’s gaze, she found it difficult to speak and could only awkwardly release his hand.

Zhou Li, on the other hand, waited calmly for her words.

Finally, Lu Rong managed to utter only, “I’m sorry.”

Before Zhou Li could react, she had already turned and run away.

He watched her retreating figure, still unsure what her apology actually meant.

Feeling her message was clear, Lu Rong returned to her residence with her two swords and immediately put away the small wooden sword.

Holding the new sword Zhou Li had given her, she practiced a few movements in the courtyard.

As the sword’s momentum subsided, petals fluttered down from a pear tree in full bloom.

Lu Rong hadn’t expected the sword to be so powerful; with just a light touch, its energy shattered the petals.

She stopped and touched her sword with satisfaction: “Now I have my own sword.”

She was captivated by her sword. Xue’er, standing beside her, asked curiously, “Rongrong, where did you get your sword?”

“Zhou Li gave it to me.” Lu Rong had intended to show Xue’er her sword.

But when Xue’er reached out to touch it, the sword’s energy injured her fingertip, and bright red blood dripped down.

Lu Rong quickly pulled the sword away, held Xue’er’s hand, and led her inside to treat it.

“I’m fine,” Xue’er said with a smile. “Rongrong, only you are allowed to touch this sword.”

“Huh?” Lu Rong was a little surprised. Usually, swords aren’t lent to others, but they aren’t restricted to only one person either. Even Bing Lie had been handled by her several times.

Xue’er nodded. “I felt a killing intent when I touched it just now.”

Lu Rong looked at her sword again, thinking that this sword, like Zhou Li, was a chaste and virtuous man.

No wonder he forged it.

“Then I’ll be careful next time.” Lu Rong felt she couldn’t even show off a little anymore.

After Xue’er left, Lu Rong rested her chin on her hand, examining her sword. Her fingertips slid along the blade, and she muttered, “Why does this sword feel hot?”

The more she touched it, the hotter it became.

Confused by the sword, she withdrew her hand. Seeing that the hilt lacked a tassel, she quickly took out a paintbrush and paper, intending to make one for it.

Meanwhile, in the Wuhui Ravine, Zhou Li felt the sensation of her fingertips brushing against his skin disappear.

His back was soaked with sweat, and he let out a long sigh of relief.

Why does she have to touch even a sword for so long?

So lecherous.

Zhou Li lowered his eyes to the book in his hand. Bing Lie had already transformed into human form and was sitting under the bed, diligently searching through two piles of books.

“Master, why do you have to re-establish a bond with Lu Rong? We were clearly arguing a lot,” Bing Lie asked, puzzled. The surrounding books nearly buried him.

Zhou Li paused slightly while flipping through the pages. Why re-establish a bond?

Because he felt uncomfortable.

He wanted to hear what she was muttering in her head all the time.

“I understand, Master,” Bing Lie reacted first. “You want to hear her filthy words.”

Zhou Li: “…” He glanced at Bing Lie’s miniature face and tossed him a few more books. “Keep reading.”

Bing Lie thought his master had gone mad! Truly mad!

Zhou Li calmly read, intent on finding a method to reconnect the bond.

The books flipped through his hands, but no usable method appeared. Meanwhile, the demonic fire within him stirred again.

Looking outside, Zhou Li noticed a demon had entered Wuhui Ravine.

How audacious.

He didn’t move. Anyone seeking him clearly had a purpose.

“Your Majesty.” A deep, resonant voice rang from afar, filled with utmost respect.

Zhou Li didn’t respond. The person addressing him as Your Majesty was likely of the same origin as the black-clad man from before.

“Your Majesty, this humble servant is Lu Fang.” After revealing his identity, he continued, “I have been searching for you for many years. Only recently, due to disturbances in demonic fire, did I find this place. I wonder if Your Majesty is safe?”

Calling out twice without response, Lu Fang wondered if he had come to the wrong place.

He looked around, seeing no one, but he had followed the rekindled aura of the demonic fire.

Just as he was wondering what was happening, he felt the air shift, and a voice spoke: “This is the land of the Immortal Sect.”

The words carried a chill. Recognizing the familiar tone, Lu Fang felt a surge of excitement and knelt before even seeing the speaker. “Welcome, Your Majesty!”

Zhou Li did not reveal himself but observed the kneeling figure, recognizing it as a tiger demon.

As Lu Fang tried to raise his head, a sword was pressed to the back of his neck, and he froze.

“What is your purpose?” Zhou Li asked.

He wondered what these demons wanted from him—did they seek to reclaim the demonic fire, or did they want him to return to the demon race?

“Your Majesty, I’ve come to protect you,” Lu Fang said hastily, his eyes full of unwavering loyalty.

Zhou Li scoffed lightly. He didn’t need protection.

Yet Lu Fang persisted: “Your Majesty, now that your demonic fire has reignited, it’s only a matter of time before the immortal sects discover your identity. You need to leave.”

Zhou Li asked skeptically, “What’s the use of the rekindled demonic fire?”

“The miasma in the demon race’s habitat has re-emerged,” Lu Fang explained. “Once the demonic fire reignites, you can cultivate purification techniques to clear the miasma completely.”

Zhou Li could tell that although Lu Fang appeared simple and honest, he was surprisingly knowledgeable.

The purification technique wasn’t a spell of the demon race or cultivators. It was closer to the uncontrollable power of heaven and earth.

No wonder the demonic fire ignited when the Yin-Yang Spring entered his body—water is the most powerful force among the elements of heaven and earth.

Zhou Li retracted Bing Lie, placing it in front of him. His long sleeves billowed in the wind, spreading a chill.

Lu Fang felt the familiar aura and looked up to see Zhou Li’s face, tears of excitement welling in his eyes.

“Your Majesty, you’ve really returned.”

But as he sensed another presence, his expression suddenly changed. “Your Majesty! You… you’re in heat!!”

His voice suddenly rose, and Zhou Li narrowed his eyes: “You want to attract people from the Xuan Yang Sect?”

Lu Fang immediately shut his mouth, though surprise lingered in his gaze.

The Xuan Snake clan rarely goes into heat. In hundreds of years by the Emperor’s side, he had never seen any signs of arousal.

Never had he imagined that the young Sovereign would now feel the stirrings of first love.

“Your Majesty, your demonic fire has reignited and you’re in heat again. This could expose your identity. You should leave the Xuan Yang Sect immediately,” Lu Fang said anxiously.

Zhou Li seemed not to hear him, asking on his own, “What’s the method for a demon to re-establish a bond with a human?”

Lu Fang thought for a moment, then said seriously, “Mutual intercourse.”

Zhou Li: “???”

“After intercourse, she will belong to you forever,” Lu Fang continued earnestly. “If once isn’t enough, you can do it multiple times.”

Zhou Li looked at him silently. Demons were indeed promiscuous.

“Other methods.”

This put Lu Fang in a difficult spot. He racked his brains for a while, then slapped his forehead.

“You can mark her,” he said, pointing to the back of his neck, “and bite her when she’s conscious.”

Zhou Li thought of Lu Rong’s slender, fair neck.

“But you need to transform into your original form first.” Lu Fang’s words were somewhat useful, but ultimately impractical. Transforming and biting her neck while under Lu Rong’s gaze would turn her disgust into hatred.

Zhou Li didn’t want to ask any more questions. Sensing a familiar presence approaching, he said to Lu Fang, “Leave.”

Lu Fang sensed someone approaching, bowed, and vanished instantly, taking the lingering demonic energy with him.

Zhou Li watched the arrival, expecting someone to ride a sword, but the sword drifted like a leaf in mid-air, swaying precariously, as if it might crash at any moment.

Sure enough, the sword and the person swooshed down from the sky together.

A small smile curved Zhou Li’s lips. “Bing Lie.”

Bing Lie flew out, catching both the falling sword and person, delivering them directly to Zhou Li.

Zhou Li and the flustered Lu Rong stared at each other, caught off guard.

He had only intended for Bing Lie to catch the person, not deliver them straight in front of him. Bing Lie even curved its blade upward, clearly pleased with itself, expecting praise for understanding his intentions.

Zhou Li merely flung Bing Lie aside. It was getting increasingly audacious.

Lu Rong stood up awkwardly, pursing her lips. “I still can’t fly on a sword.”

“So you want me to teach you?” Zhou Li noticed the beautiful tassel hanging from her sword hilt. She truly liked these decorative touches.

“No,” Lu Rong quickly denied, pulling a wooden box from her sleeve and tossing it to him. “This is a gift specifically for Bing Lie.”

After speaking, she felt uneasy and tried to fly away on her sword, but in her panic, she completely lost control.

The sword shot straight into the sky, and her face turned pale with fright. Then she felt a force on the sword, and a strong, long arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her into a broad embrace.

A warm breath brushed against her ear: “Use your mind to guide its direction.”

Lu Rong’s pale face slowly flushed red. He was pressed against her waist.

Was he a beast? Even without a reaction, his presence there was so overwhelming.

“What are you thinking?” Zhou Li asked, pressing down on the sword, which remained unmoving.

He couldn’t hear her thoughts through her clothes, leaving him puzzled.

“Nothing, nothing,” Lu Rong said hastily, trying to control the sword as he instructed.

She still couldn’t manage it. Helpless, Zhou Li grabbed her hand and pointed to the right. “Think about moving the sword this way.”

The instant her hand was caught, her body tensed, and her mind flooded with images about her hand.

Zhou Li’s mind, in turn, formed an image: a large hand sliding down her slender, fair waist, descending into a shadowy depth.

What was she thinking?

He realized when he saw it in his mind: her soft legs clamped around his wrist, her flat stomach glistening with a thin layer of sweat, sliding along with her trembling waist, sinking into his damp palm.

Zhou Li’s brow furrowed slightly.

So… she was imagining him using his hand on her.
