Miss Demon King, Please Endure a Little Longer - Volume 3 Chapter 9
Chapter 9: Is Lala a Good Girl or a Bad Girl?
***
Zero seemed to fall into some kind of contemplation. In those few short seconds, even the air seemed to freeze.
Aira didn’t dare to breathe.
The entire premise of this move was that the other party had to accept your explanation. If they didn’t accept it, all the words that followed would be useless.
Maybe she should pretend to have a sudden illness right now, take off her shoe and use it as a phone to call a doctor… No wait, there are no phones in this other world, others wouldn’t understand what she was doing.
Just as the pink-haired big-breasted girl was feeling anxious, the black-haired slender girl suddenly broke into a smile:
“I see, Aira, I… are you okay? I was very worried about you.”
Halfway through her smile, she immediately switched to a concerned expression.
Aira felt a long sigh of relief in her heart.
“It’s okay, I’m already used to it.” She said in a sad little voice, “I’m just afraid of being misunderstood by you all.”
“You won’t be.” The girl stepped forward and took her hand, “I believe in you.”
Good, good, good!
Stay calm, an actor can’t break character.
Aira put in great effort to suppress the curve at the corners of her mouth, making her changing expressions appear moved.
“Zero, you’re so kind. I knew you were the best.”
“Thank you.”
“I should be the one thanking you. Actually, I’ve always loved the flowers you gave me.” The pink-haired big-breasted beautiful girl’s ruby-red eyes were full of tender affection, “Whether it’s the white roses blooming in summer, the fairy wood blooming proudly in the bitter cold, or the unknown yet resilient wildflowers, I love them all~”
Hearing such a confession, the girl was deeply encouraged: “That’s really wonderful.”
Yes, it really was wonderful. Thank goodness she’s such a naive camper, a little manipulation was all it took to deceive her.
I’m really something!
Aira got a bit carried away with success and even greedily thought that since things were going so smoothly, why not gain some extra benefits?
So she continued: “Actually, I really want to get rid of the evil influence brought by necromancy magic, which is why I asked Miss Lia to help purify me. That time you didn’t see wrong, we had our clothes mixed up. Originally we had taken them off, because that’s the only way it can be effective… you won’t blame me, will you?”
Hearing this, Zero paused again.
Aira’s heart jumped, and she was just about to reflect on her behavior when she heard the other party say: “It’s okay, I can understand.”
The pink-haired big-breasted girl immediately felt relieved.
Understanding was good, long live understanding.
As they say, endure for a moment and the seas will be calm, take a step back and you can push your luck further. Seeing that even saying this much was accepted, she couldn’t help but test the waters once more:
“Then, in order to get rid of the magic’s influence, can I continue to ask Miss Lia for purification in the future?”
“Of course you can.” Zero said with a smile, “Since it’s normal behavior, why wouldn’t it be okay?”
“That’s great… I mean, Zero, you’re so kind~”
After saying these words, Aira bid farewell to the girl in her sweet little voice and returned to her room, throwing herself onto the bed and hugging a cotton-like pillow. Her mood felt like it was floating on clouds, light and airy.
When good fortune comes, one’s spirits soar.
It was true that she had been tricked by that Evil God in recent days, but so what? With her own cleverness and wit, she had once again reversed the overall situation. From now on, she no longer had to worry about being surrounded by allies, because the assassin girl who knew the most secrets had been won over!
“Hehe~”
On the other side, Zero didn’t linger in the hallway. She quickly returned to her own room, closed the door, leaned against it with her back, closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
I really am a bad girl, she thought.
Why? Because after the girl said that first part earlier, the time she spent thinking was actually spent hesitating.
Aira’s story was too half-hearted. What did she mean by “not being like herself when using necromancy magic” and “being afraid of that version of herself”?
That was clearly her real self, wielding her sword and commanding the undead to attack, visibly happy while doing so.
Where was the fear in that?
But Aira spoke in such a cute little voice, her cherry-like small mouth saying all sorts of pure and pitiful things. She was really adorable.
Zero wanted to hear more, so she didn’t expose the lie. She didn’t expect Aira to get more and more carried away, even planning to continue doing this and that with other women.
At that moment, the girl suddenly had a wicked thought: if she pretended to know nothing, Aira would let her guard down, and then… if she caught her in the act, she could give her a good punishment.
It was a very evil calculation. She really was a bad girl, but since Lala was bad first, being a little more bad shouldn’t matter, right?
However, regardless of everything else, Lia had already returned to the church and wouldn’t be back for a few days.
And the serious matter the girls had to face next was tomorrow’s medal ceremony.
That afternoon, after Celeste finished practicing new sword techniques and was preparing to go rest, she received a new letter at the door, another one sent by Roars.
A few minutes later, she called all the girls in the camp together to discuss the letter’s contents in the first-floor hall.
“Teacher says in the letter that the royal family has confirmed who will preside over the medal ceremony. It’s not the Prince, but Princess Grell.”
Vina immediately raised her little hand: “Who is Princess Grell?”
Although she was a local who had grown up in the royal capital, she never actively learned about people who didn’t interest her.
Of course, Aira and Zero had no idea who this person was either.
So Celeste gave them a brief introduction. Princess Grell had just turned 30 this year, a bit younger than the Prince. 10 years ago, she married the son of the Minister of Internal Affairs. Her influence in the royal capital was second only to the Prince, and she was involved in trade and diplomatic matters.
“Compared to us, she’s more likely here for the elven race.” The Sword Saint girl analyzed, “Because of what happened last time, even if the royal family maintains appearances, they won’t get too close to us.”
Lord Tydin was, after all, the Prince’s uncle, imperial relatives. Regardless of emotional closeness, there was that relationship, so appearances had to be maintained.
“What about the elves?” Vina suddenly changed the topic, “Has the delegation arrived?”
“They arrive tomorrow, supposedly just in time for the medal ceremony.”
Aira thought to herself that arriving just in time was quite the timing, they really knew how to make an entrance.
She stretched lazily, preparing to continue slacking off, when she suddenly noticed everyone was looking at her.
“Eh, what’s wrong?”
Why are you all looking at me?
“Aira,” Celeste asked, “what are your thoughts on this matter?”
Without realizing it, the girls had come to rely on the pink-haired big-breasted girl’s wisdom. Whether it was judging situations or specific tactics, they needed to hear her opinion.
But this wasn’t good, it made Lala seem like some thick-faced, black-hearted politician.
“Not really, I think everything’s fine.”
Lala’s beautiful face was delicate and flawless, she didn’t understand such matters.
And so, after the discussion ended, a night’s rest quickly passed, and a new day, also the day of the medal ceremony, arrived.
In yesterday’s letter, Roars had told them to get up early today and go to the Hall of Tribute first, as he had something to say to the girls.
