Miss Demon King, Please Endure a Little Longer - Volume 3 Chapter 25
Chapter 25: Sudden Change
***
The war between the elven race and the demon race theoretically had nothing to do with the young women who represented friendly exchanges with the human race, so they went into the tree house for a good night’s rest.
The next day, they followed the elven elder to select Dragon Eagles.
“You want the biggest one? That might be a bit difficult. Not only has no one made statistics on size, but the older ones aren’t good at flying.”
After hearing Isadora’s words, Aira thought for a moment and said, “Then let’s go with one that’s relatively large here.”
She needed to find a mount that matched her status, one that others would immediately recognize as belonging to her.
“Large chest cavity? Miss Aira truly has good judgment,” Isadora said with a smile. “A large chest cavity provides superior breathing capacity, allowing such Dragon Eagles to fly higher and longer.”
Next, they were led to the nesting grounds.
Giant eagles were already powerful birds of prey, and with a trace of thin sub-dragon bloodline, they instantly transformed into kings of the sky. Nothing in conventional ecological niches could compete with them.
But like the elves, their reproductive capacity was weak and their numbers scarce, only a few thousand existed, usually dwelling in shrub-rich nesting areas.
“We’re here, this is the place.”
Ahead in this area lay over a dozen Dragon Eagles. Observing from the outside, their forms were massive, two sizes larger than the most robust horses. Having 2 or 3 people ride on their backs would be no problem at all.
Their wings had metallic-lustrous scales, but touching them revealed their texture was actually still bird feathers.
Isadora and several other elves approached, pulling out the Dragon Eagles the young women had selected. They whispered something to the creatures, and by the time they were brought over, they had already become very docile.
Each of the 4 young women got one, except Zero didn’t want one because she felt flying in the sky made too conspicuous a target, which didn’t match her style.
“If we need to travel, I’ll just hitch a ride with one of you.”
That’s what she said, but Aira suspected this “one of you” probably didn’t have a second candidate, it would definitely have to be herself.
After making their selections, Isadora came over to tell them that the elven race had specialized Dragon Eagle riders, only a few hundred of them, belonging to high-quality elite units. Today they had specially found several to take them on a flight around the area.
“Can we look toward the battlefield?” Aira made a request. “We don’t need to get too close, just stay on the periphery. I want to see the battlefield situation.”
“That’s possible, but please stay close to the navigators.”
Soon, the 4 young women mounted their Dragon Eagles and took flight, with several experienced Dragon Eagle riders protecting them nearby. Without breaking through the canopy layer, the soft feathers allowed them to glide easily at low altitude.
Celeste, as a close-combat expert accustomed to high-speed movement in battle, adapted quickly. Vina, being petite and able to control wind elements, also managed with ease.
Lia immediately cast a blessing on herself upon takeoff, then looked around worriedly for the other girl: “Aira, are you okay?”
Shivering from the cold, these elven vehicles were really unfriendly to big-breasted girls. When would she be able to stand up for herself?
“I’m fine,” Aira barely maintained her posture, gripping the rope on the Dragon Eagle’s back. “Let’s go, we’ll take a look at the battlefield.”
Flying in the air did indeed make her large assets sway back and forth, but as a pragmatist, she was determined to adapt to this type of vehicle.
After circling a few times at low altitude to confirm the young women were adapting well enough, the navigator led them gliding toward the battlefield’s periphery.
After yesterday’s war mobilization, nearly 10,000 elves in their prime took up weapons, shouting slogans of “Defend the forest, defend our homeland,” and rushed to the fallen northern forest.
Rangers drew their bows and nocked arrows, mages awakened the forest plants, and Dragon Eagle riders struck from the air.
The demon race’s initial advance force numbered only several thousand, with subsequent main forces continuously pouring in. The vanguard encountered stubborn resistance, and the battle line came to a standstill.
The Dragon Eagles stopped at the periphery. Taking advantage of the height’s visual advantage, Aira could clearly see everything. The demon army, or more accurately, the Blood Demon tribe’s army, was deeply mired in a quagmire with a terrible casualty ratio.
If Bloodslaughter Lord remained obstinate and insisted on continuing the assault, the elven race’s fate was uncertain, but the Blood Demon tribe would definitely suffer severe damage.
Aira steadied her position, blinked her eyes, and suddenly felt a strange mood.
There were several factions of rebels in the court. Both the Blood Demon tribe and the Wolf-Head tribe were significant forces among them. If she wanted to seize power, she would inevitably face their obstruction.
But over the past 6 months, the Wolf-Head tribe had been crippled, and the Blood Demon tribe was currently destroying its own strength. With this back and forth, it seemed there weren’t many forces left in the demon race with rebellious intentions?
The Demon King’s heart began to burn with excitement.
After the Blood Demon race was dealt with, it seemed she could start working toward regaining power.
“I’ve seen enough, I’ve seen everything I wanted to see.” Aira turned to the navigating Dragon Eagle rider and said, “Let’s head back.”
The group began their return journey. Going by air was indeed much faster, yesterday’s 1-hour journey took less than 10 minutes today.
As soon as they landed, she couldn’t wait to find the elven elder alone and said to her:
“Elder Isadora, I’ve observed that the war situation is very favorable for you, but you must be careful. According to the intelligence we gathered yesterday, the demon army’s leader is a brutal and vicious person. When they fall into a stalemate, the leader will personally enter battle.”
“Thank you, but we’ve considered this matter and have made preparations.”
“I see. If you discover he’s entered the battlefield, could you let me know?” Aira said to her. “I’d also like to lend you a hand.”
Originally, she didn’t feel comfortable leaving her companions to discuss matters alone with the other party, but Isadora had done it first yesterday, so she decided to try and see if they had any mutual understanding.
“Certainly.”
The elven elder didn’t think much about it and agreed immediately.
After bidding farewell to Isadora, Aira returned to her companions’ side. They were discussing arrangements with the Dragon Eagle riders. Due to lack of experience, the eagles could only be temporarily kept at the nesting grounds and retrieved when needed.
“The feeling of flying in the sky is really nice,” Vina stretched her small hands, saying with nostalgia. “What do you all think?”
Celeste responded, “Indeed, very fast.”
She valued practical utility more.
Lia was the one among them who had the most difficulty adapting to flight, but she definitely couldn’t admit it. She crossed her arms and snorted lightly: “What’s so special about that? It’s just takeoff. It’s not like I haven’t experienced it before… right, Aira?”
Right, right?
It wasn’t a matter of right or wrong, why are you asking me about this kind of thing? Fortunately, the others didn’t think too deeply about it.
“I feel a bit tired,” Aira smiled sweetly. “I’d like to go back and rest first.”
Right now, she just wanted to wait for news about Bloodslaughter Lord, then personally eliminate the rebel party and regain power.
The war between the elven race and the demon army entered a stalemate phase. A few days later, Aira finally received news that the enemy leader had entered the field.
At the same time, an elven ranger stumbled into the elder’s tree house.
“This is terrible, Elder! During our routine patrol, we discovered… we discovered that the seal’s pattern has changed!”
