Chapter 13: Oh My

***

When she was once the Demon King, Aira had said that if a person has talent, they should practice what they’re good at until they reach grandmaster level.

For example, her own necromancy magic was unparalleled among the entire demon race.

Now, three months after becoming a soft, cute, beautiful girl, Aira had mastered a new skill.

Identifying people by sound!

Complete silence meant Zero, though you couldn’t hear that, you’d only know by holding her. A little rhythm meant Vina, the little witch liked to skip when doing mischievous things. Calm and steady meant Celeste, she was too composed.

And tonight’s footsteps, a bit hesitant, a bit tsundere, with a slight heaviness, mainly due to their considerable size, undoubtedly belonged to the second-largest member of the team, the saintess.

“Lia.” Aira habitually turned over, pretending she’d just noticed her. “Why are you here?”

“Why are you turning away?” came the saintess’s voice from behind. “I’m over here!”

Oh right, she forgot this one preferred the frontal approach.

Lia kicked off her shoes and dove onto the bed, pulling up Aira’s blanket in the process.

“What are you spacing out for? Get undressed!”

This domineering attitude made the pink-haired big-breasted girl a bit dizzy.

“Are we doing the conversion ritual again…”

“What are you talking about!” Lia’s pretty face turned slightly red as she explained in a small voice, “We only did it for a little while last time. I told you the duration would be short. The effect is already gone now, so we’re doing it again tonight.”

That fast? Well, okay then.

Without turning on the light, she undressed from her nightgown by moonlight. Soon, large softness pressed down on her, and they reached out to embrace each other’s waists.

This was the saintess’s requirement, saying it would help with full absorption of the holy aura.

“Lia, if there’s a duration limit each time, does that mean we have to sleep holding each other like this every so often?”

“Yes.”

Aira said softly and sweetly, “Isn’t that a bit inappropriate…”

Lia snorted lightly, her large righteousness squeezing against the large rice cake: “What’s inappropriate about it? You act like you don’t feel good every time.”

“Gu…”

She really couldn’t argue with that. She did feel quite comfortable indeed. After all, having such a beautiful girl holding her tightly, fragrant and soft, and so large.

But a good girl couldn’t not say that, right? That wouldn’t be pure.

“Don’t get any weird ideas. I’m only doing this to help purify your evil. It’s my duty as the Saintess of Light.” Lia kept her pretty face tense to prevent that hint of blush from showing. “Just like how I was preaching outside today, it’s the same… Oh right!”

As if suddenly finding a reasonable topic change, the saintess immediately perked up:

“You don’t know how much the Goddess of Light blessed my luck today. I’d barely walked a few steps in the market when I encountered someone who cut their hand while gutting fish. There were many people around, and I just needed to walk over gently and heal his wound with a prayer. The eyes of everyone around lit up.”

Aira quietly pursed her cherry lips, thinking to herself: The Goddess of Light’s blessing for you was making someone else cut their hand while gutting fish?

That goddess sure wasn’t particular about the details, quite comparable to the Demon King.

Lia was very happy about today’s events, getting increasingly excited as she talked: “They always used to say how barbaric and ignorant places without churches were, telling me to be extremely careful and never try preaching alone. Turns out it’s not so bad, pretty easy actually.”

Aira listened silently, occasionally making a “mm” sound.

It wasn’t to express agreement, but because the saintess would often get suddenly excited while confiding, and when she got excited, she’d squeeze lightly, which would make Aira go “mm.”

Purely an instinctive reaction from the large rice cake.

“You didn’t come today, that’s one thing, but tomorrow you’re not allowed to run off. You have to accompany me and help me think of ideas.” Lia hugged the pink-haired big-breasted girl’s slender waist tightly. “You little troublemaker, you’re the one with all the wicked schemes!”

Hearing the last part, Aira was speechless: “If they’re wicked schemes, aren’t you afraid of affecting the Saintess of Light’s image by using them for preaching?”

“Not afraid,” Lia replied righteously, “they’re your ideas, not mine.”

Having said that, the saintess couldn’t help but giggle.

Aira gritted her little fangs.

At that moment, she suddenly remembered who she was, the utterly evil Demon King.

You impudent little girl, developing so well, daring to hold me naked like this, and being so arrogant too.

Just because I don’t have my former powerful physique doesn’t mean I can’t deal with you, does it?

A flame of wickedness ignited in her heart. Today she finally knew who she truly was. Take this!

“Hmm?”

Lia noticed the little movement below and snorted arrogantly, pressing down hard with her large righteousness, lifting her bright thigh and forcefully squeezing it in, performing a holy rub—

Oh my!

“Ngh…”

Aira surrendered again.

After surrendering came comfort, after comfort came release, then her eyes closed.

“Let’s sleep early, it’s almost the next day.” Her ear was gently bitten by the saintess. “Good night.”

The drowsy Aira thought: If you hadn’t come over, the Demon King would already be having her second dream by now!

The two girls embracing each other gradually steadied their breathing.

Lost in their conversion ritual, they didn’t notice that on this night, at the exact moment when late night met dawn at 12 o’clock, on the third day before the seven-day sacrificial period would begin, an indescribable gaze swept across the entire Harbor City.

But the holy light shielded the dark surveillance.

Zzzz

In the next room, the ice-blue-haired girl made uneasy sounds in her sleep, not sleeping peacefully at all.

She dreamed she was walking on an endless narrow path, surrounded by invisible coldness, like being under the deep sea, dark, cold, oppressive, with mad whispers echoing in her ears.

Someone was watching her.

Or perhaps, that thing wasn’t human.

Next door to the next door, Vina also slept poorly, similar nightmares plaguing her.

And outside, in the small alley behind the workshop.

Zero’s main investigation tonight focused here, though she hadn’t discovered anything yet. She planned to wait until everyone was asleep in the second half of the night, then find a way to look inside the house.

Just past 12 o’clock, the girl shuddered and reflexively drew a dagger from her bodysuit.

“Who’s there!”

The surveillance in the darkness, she felt it. This was a top assassin’s counter-surveillance ability.

But she couldn’t have imagined that what surveilled her didn’t come from the real world. In the quiet air, an indescribable gaze pierced through the void and fell upon the girl.

Cold and oppressive like a tide, with mad whispers in her ears.

Swish—!

Silver light flashed in the darkness as Zero swung her dagger with full force, using “Death” to sever this gaze. All oppression and whispers vanished instantly.

Clatter— the weapon that had accompanied her for so long broke into several pieces from the middle. Even the craftsmanship of the kingdom’s finest royal artisans had only allowed it to persist for a moment in that confrontation.

Endless fatigue flooded her mind. The girl collapsed to the ground, and in the last moment before losing consciousness, she saw several cloaked figures surrounding her.

Then there was darkness.

“She’s unconscious.”

“My god, she actually managed to single-handedly…”

“Stop talking, the ground is cold. Let’s get her inside first.”

“Be careful, gently. You guys go get hot water.”

“Who’s going to get a clean blanket?”
