Chapter 10: Children, I’m Back

***

Harbor City’s natural geographical conditions are indeed blessed by heaven, the south relies on the sea for seafood, and the east relies on the mountains for mountain delicacies.

However, the latter makes up only a small portion, as the locals get tired of eating fish and occasionally buy some mountain delicacies to try. Plus, since the mountains are quite dangerous, the prices are relatively high.

“Is everyone here? I’ll be taking you all this time.”

The hunter uncle counted the pearl shells, put them into his bag, shouldered his hunting bow, and prepared to set off.

This trip, he was leading seven or eight people on a mountain expedition while hunting some game on the side, earning two payments at once.

“We’re all here, I think. There shouldn’t be anyone else,” someone in the expedition team said.

The hunter uncle turned around to look and saw the pink-haired beautiful girl’s thin top and shorts exposing her long white legs. He frowned: “The mountain forests are full of dangers. You should wear more layers.”

“It’s fine, we can use magic,” Vina said, wrapping her arm around Aira. “Especially her, she’s really amazing~”

With those words, all the improper gazes from the expedition team members were withdrawn.

Being able to use magic doesn’t necessarily mean being very powerful, but it definitely means having noble status.

Seeing this, the hunter didn’t insist anymore, but to make everyone take safety seriously, he added: “Still, be careful. You might not know this, but besides venomous insects and fierce beasts in these wilderness areas, there are also traces of demon army activities deep in the mountain forests.”

Hearing this news, the expedition team was greatly shocked: “Demon army?”

“Yes, but don’t worry too much. The demons have set up camp on the other side of the mountain range and only operate there. As long as you follow me and don’t wander off, you won’t encounter them.”

Aira’s breathing became a bit uneven.

Her guess was right, at least one general had followed her instructions. After the incident at the Demon King’s Castle, he had brought his troops to the border regions to establish operations, accumulate strength, and wait for the Demon King to return like lightning.

And now, once she crosses this mountain, they will hear her story.

With the hunter’s warning, the expedition team wasn’t as relaxed as they had been at the start. Everyone stayed closer together to avoid getting separated.

Someone boldly struck up a conversation: “Big brother, how come there’s a demon army in these mountains?”

“I don’t know either. They suddenly appeared recently, never been here before.” The hunter touched the bow on his back. “But demons are cunning. When they act unusually, there must be some conspiracy. Better be careful.”

At this moment, an older member of the group sighed: “When I was young, the demons weren’t like this. They were naturally brave and aggressive, straightforward in their approach. If they wanted to fight somewhere, they’d fight there directly, absolutely none of these twists and turns. But ever since that Demon King Io took power, the demons started using schemes and plots!”

Aira couldn’t help herself and unconsciously puffed out her chest.

Yes, that’s right, I did that. Pretty impressive, huh.

Vina walked up front and nudged her, whispering: “Put it away. Aren’t you conspicuous enough already?”

Everyone’s staring at you, how are you going to sneak away later?

So Aira became low-key, falling to the back of the group to prevent the people behind from staring at her legs.

They couldn’t keep turning around to look, that would give them neck problems.

Finally, after reaching the upper part of the mountainside, the hunter stopped and told everyone to rest on the spot. Those who wanted to see the scenery or pick fruits could go ahead now.

Because he also needed to go hunting.

“Come help me out, you two.” He called several young strong men in the group, “Let’s go catch a few rabbits to roast for lunch.”

The expedition team dispersed, with everyone doing their own activities. A few people followed the hunter to hunt, while the others sat down to rest.

Someone noticed that the big-breasted girl with the long white legs had disappeared, but they didn’t pay much attention, just thinking that the noble mage lady had gone off to find somewhere to play.

At this time, Aira was racing toward the other side of the mountain at incredible speed. Before long, she had crossed over the mountain peak.

“You go for it. I’ll stay here to provide backup for you.”

Vina stood in place maintaining a magic anchor point. With this thing here, Aira wouldn’t get lost when she returned.

Closer, even closer, she could even see the outline of the camp in the mountain forest from afar.

For a moment, Aira felt somewhat nervous about returning home.

Nearly 3 months, a season was about to pass. Time hadn’t stopped its march, and the world continued to turn as usual.

Tap tap, a series of chaotic sounds came through, and several people wielding large swords emerged from the bushes. They spotted her immediately and charged over with big strides.

Although their appearance was no different from humans, Aira recognized their identity at a glance. There was no mistaking it, because of the demons’ powerful physiques, their armor was obviously a size larger than human warriors.

Look at their agile movements, their athletic ability, how spirited, how brave! These are the fine young men of my demon race. Charging toward me, they must have recognized my aura.

Aira thought this to herself, then heard the rough voices of several demon soldiers—

“What a beautiful woman!”

“Quick, quick, catch her and take her back. We’ve made a great contribution today!”

“Charge!!”

What the hell…

Souls from the netherworld tripped several demon soldiers, making them fall to the ground. White bones burst from the earth, firmly grasping their limbs and pinning them down so they couldn’t move.

This eerie scene scared the big guys silly.

“You, you, you, who are you?”

Aira couldn’t be bothered with them and continued walking toward the camp. Along the way, she encountered more demon soldiers, and without exception, they all charged at her after spotting her.

Some simply wanted to charge, others wanted to protect the camp. After all, this was a military stronghold. How could they just watch an unfamiliar woman approach?

Aira treated them all equally, restraining every single one. The forest of white bones emerging from the ground spared no one, grabbing their feet like shackles.

She continued walking forward like this. When she was dozens of steps from the main gate of the camp, the commander of this Demon King army finally appeared — a tall, imposing man over 2 meters high with a pair of rhinoceros horns on his forehead.

Rhinoceros-Horn General, Rockbreaker.

His heavy feet stomped on the ground, causing the surrounding earth to tremble. A pair of bull eyes looked warily at the girl.

“Who are you?”

Aira said nothing, just slightly extended her hand, and a bone sword appeared in her small hand.

Rockbreaker’s eyes widened instantly: “The Sword of the Dead? You, you, you, you, just who are you…”

“Iron Bull,” Aira called him by name, looked up at the camp, and said flatly, “Emergency Protocol 4, password ‘preserve people, gain territory.’ You’ve done well.”

“It really is you!”

Rockbreaker’s eyes turned red, and tears welled up. His body, over 2 meters tall, crashed to the ground with a thunderous sound as he knelt, opening his mouth emotionally to shout—

“Shh.” Aira raised her index finger. “Don’t say it here.”

Rockbreaker swallowed back a whole bunch of words in his throat, holding them back until his face turned red and tears came out. After a long while, he finally managed to say in a suppressed voice:

“You’ve finally returned!”

For a moment, Aira couldn’t help but feel emotional as well.

Yes, children, I’m back.
