Mental Illness Evolution Manual - Chapter 94

The Holy Knight followed Yan Xianchuan upstairs, just in time to save his comrade. If he had been even a second later, he would have met the same fate as Gold Ring.
Seeing the girl raise her hand towards the other injured people, he reacted instantly. He quickly erected a shield around them, shouting, “Injured people, move back! Get out of here!”
As soon as he said this, a third of the people on the scene immediately moved back.
Staying here would only be a burden, they would only die in vain. It was better to go down and intercept the soldiers who were coming to reinforce them.
The man in military uniform inside the glass dome also spread his hands. Invisible wind blades burst from his fingertips. The people couldn’t see the attack, they could only hear the sound of the wind. They reacted quickly based on instinct.
The wind blades struck everywhere, they could even ricochet. They hit the wall, scattering stone chips. They hit the window frame, cutting deep grooves in the metal.
They didn’t have the high damage of bullets, but they were more than enough to cut through human skin.
Upon returning to Yuecheng, Yan Xianchuan had re-implanted the eyes cultivated from her own cells. While others might miss the wind blades, she could see them clearly, detecting the unnatural currents of air.
The wind blades were like rotating scimitars, or crescent moons. They were transparent, but they had form. She reached out and grabbed one, she could clearly feel its shape.
It wasn’t air that was bound by ability, it was ability.
It was even brittle. Yan Xianchuan gently squeezed it, and the wind blade shattered.
With the Holy Knight present, the safety of everyone was assured. Azberto was surrounded, his escape temporarily thwarted. The immovable space-freezing field acted like a turtle shell; otherwise, the five of them would have already fled.
She jumped back downstairs and quickly said to the two people below, “Azberto is upstairs. There are three ability users with him. A young girl, she can probably control water or blood. She can drain the blood from a person’s body. An adult woman, her ability is space freezing. All attacks within the range will stop, but they can’t move either. An adult male, he can release wind blades, they can ricochet. If you have any wounds, you’ll be attacked by the girl.”
Three ability users, for the Polov family’s background, it wasn’t a lot. But they were clearly specially selected. The three of them worked together, their strength was exceptionally powerful.
“The Holy Knight’s shield can temporarily resist their attacks.”
She jumped back up through the hole and shouted to the Holy Knight, “Two more shields!”
When he heard this, he immediately rushed over. Two balls of bright white light fell down, covering the two people on the fourth floor.
The two of them didn’t have the jumping ability to easily reach the ceiling, which was over three meters high. They rushed over from the stairwell. The moment Lu Mingqiu saw Azberto, she released her mental ability. But as soon as it touched the frozen space, her ability was like it had sunk into clay. The air was thick, it held it tightly, completely different from the smooth feeling she usually had.
At the same time, a string-like thread appeared in the space, it was like a pulsating sound wave, it vibrated at a very high frequency and slowly moved forward.
Lu Mingqiu’s ability level was high, so she could still move forward, but it was too slow. By the time it reached the two of them, it would be too late.
Over two minutes had elapsed. Any further delay would result in encirclement by the army. There were simply too many of them; they could overwhelm anything. Abilities weren’t inexhaustible; once surrounded, they’d be finished.
White’s eyes also narrowed. He tried to create a black hole outside the space, but this area seemed to be anchored. Although all sorts of miscellaneous objects outside were flying towards the black hole, they remained motionless, they weren’t affected at all.
Seeing this, White flicked his fingers, controlling the black hole to move towards the space. But he didn’t expect that his ability was also frozen, it was like it was covered in a glass jar.
Like Lu Mingqiu’s “string,” it also had a certain degree of activity. It wasn’t completely bound. The gravitational pull drew the surrounding attacks towards the center, causing them to shift.
He frowned, he released his ability again, directly opening a black hole on the ground. The ceiling quickly shattered, the broken building materials were sucked away, but the four people were still standing in place, they were suspended in the air, they didn’t fall down.
“My attack is also ineffective,” White said with a serious expression.
The man in military uniform released another wave of wind blades. Everyone dodged quickly. The shield could only withstand a limited amount of damage. If they didn’t come up with a solution, they would only be increasing the Holy Knight’s physical exertion by stubbornly resisting.
Yan Xianchuan didn’t dodge. The wind blades couldn’t break through her defenses.
Not only did she not dodge, she even walked forward, she stood at the edge of the glass dome and carefully observed the four people inside.
Azberto’s face was cold and stern. Although he was in danger, his eyes were calm and unperturbed. He glanced at Yan Xianchuan, then looked away. He glanced at the watch on his wrist, he had an arrogant air of disdain.
The other three people were also expressionless. They were like mannequins from the same factory, they were born without emotions.
Yan Xianchuan stared at them for a while, ignoring the wind blades that were cutting her. She walked to the door of an office with the door open, she reached out and pulled down the broken door panel, she held it up and threw it into the frozen space.
The door panel hung suspended in the air as soon as it entered, which didn’t surprise her. She then picked up a solid rosewood table and threw it in as well.
Next came various odds and ends, chairs, cups, glass bottles… the things that went in later pushed the things that went in first, almost filling the space.
This space was so large, limited, how could it possibly fit all the furniture from an entire office?
As the frozen space became more and more crowded, some of the bullets, darts, and other objects that had entered first were getting closer and closer to them. The woman in military uniform’s face turned dark, she pushed outwards with both hands, and the various things floating inside began to squeeze outwards.
Tangible objects fell directly to the ground, intangible abilities dissipated into the air as soon as they left the space.
After doing all this, her breathing became heavier.
The woman in military uniform was trying to hide it. Her expression didn’t change, and the frequency of her chest rising and falling didn’t increase, but those subtle changes couldn’t escape Yan Xianchuan’s eyes.
“I have an idea,” Yan Xianchuan’s voice was low, but everyone present could hear it.
“Her space is limited. Controlling her ability to block your attacks isn’t easy for her.”
As if she knew what kind of bad things she was going to say, the wind blades that had been ricocheting everywhere suddenly unified, they cut directly at her neck.
Yan Xianchuan didn’t dodge or avoid it. She raised her hand and gently squeezed it. There was no sound, but she could imagine the sound of glass shattering in her mind.
The corners of her lips curled up, she spread her hands towards the four people inside and said silently, “Oops, sorry.”
Actually, she understood Azberto’s idea. Some people really didn’t have any reason to live. Even if you looked at it from the perspective of finding amusement, you would think that those who were the embodiment of human negative traits were really affecting the view.
They didn’t even have the manners of a mental patient like her.
If Lu Mingqiu wasn’t here, she might have been eager to join his team, killing and slaughtering everywhere. But now, she could only say sorry.
Who told him to get in her way?
“So we can attack inside as quickly and frequently as possible. Those with high levels can use their abilities, those with low levels can do what I just did, fill it up with things. Fill it up. When that happens, she has to clear out all the junk in the space. This process is very energy-consuming, she won’t be able to hold out for long, her ability will be exhausted.”
Maintaining shields for so many people was also a significant physical drain on the Holy Knight. Lu Mingqiu emerged from her hiding place, she met Yan Xianchuan’s gaze, who winked at her.
“Do as she said. Pay attention to dodging, retreat immediately if you’re injured. Those with offensive abilities, use your abilities to attack. Others use physical attacks, try to use large objects.”
After Lu Mingqiu finished speaking, her mental ability condensed into several long needles, she stabbed them directly into the space. She felt a clear resistance, but she didn’t stop, she even increased her strength. This process consumed both ability and physical strength exponentially. It was the same for her, and it wasn’t easy for the people on the defensive side either, because she wasn’t just defending against her, she also had to control the attacks of others.
Yan Xianchuan was best at doing physical work. Others were either carrying tables and chairs, or they were taking paintings, flower pots. Yan Xianchuan first stuffed the rosewood table and door that she had thrown out back in. Then she walked in front of the office where she had removed the door, she touched the wall by the window, then raised her right leg and kicked hard.
With a bang, dust flew up. She lifted the collapsed half of the wall, it was like she was holding a light poster, she slammed it right on top of the four people.
The woman in military uniform’s face instantly turned white.
“Sir…” she said.
“One minute,” Azberto said indifferently.
“Yes!” She gritted her teeth, trying to push out all the things that were being thrown in. This process was obviously extremely energy-consuming. Her face began to flush and become congested. After a while, her nose started to bleed.
The young girl turned her head and glanced at her, her gaze fell on the bloodstain.
Although she was pushing things out, the others weren’t just watching. They continued to throw things in. Back and forth, the junk in the space didn’t decrease, it actually increased.
Yan Xianchuan contributed the most. She kicked down another wall and happily carried it towards the crowd.
White’s ability would absorb the attacks of others, so now he could only help like other support ability users, carrying some junk, doing some finishing touches.
Although there were more and more things in the space, the four people inside didn’t take the initiative to push them out. It seemed like they weren’t unwilling, but unable.
Cracks suddenly appeared in the air, it was like something was about to break. A chair leg kicked Azberto in the head. His eyes finally began to change.
His gaze was like the most venomous blade, it swept coldly over everyone, “You’re not from the Federation. Only the Resistance could organize so many ability users. Since you’re from the Resistance, shouldn’t our goals be the same?”
“The lower class of this society is chaotic, the upper class is corrupt. There’s no need to change or save it. Breaking it down and rebuilding it is the right thing to do.”
“You’re using your own selfish desires to force the world to be what you want it to be. What’s the difference between you and them?” Lu Mingqiu said.
“I’m doing it for the progress of humanity!” Azberto retorted sharply, “Throughout human history, which era’s progress wasn’t driven by a few geniuses? The common people are just mindless followers, if you care about them, humanity would have been extinct long ago!”
Yan Xianchuan started clapping, she said loudly, “Well said!”
Lu Mingqiu glanced at her when she heard the sound. The latter immediately turned her head, pretending to be busy, she looked left and right.
“I don’t agree with your point of view. It’s useless to talk about it. You have to die today,” Lu Mingqiu said coldly.
Oh my… Yan Xianchuan secretly glanced at Lu Mingqiu with the corner of her eye. She thought she was incredibly charming at this moment.
Just then, the girl in the dress suddenly raised her hand.
Everyone only heard half a scream. The change happened suddenly. The woman in military uniform’s nosebleed, which had been flowing intermittently, suddenly spurted out like a tap had been turned on. She only had time to look back at her companions before her entire body instantly shriveled up, like a dried corpse.
Without her ability, all the things floating in the air, the walls, the doors… all fell down, covering the people below.
