Mental Illness Evolution Manual - Chapter 80
"And there you have it, folks! Another chapter conquered...or at least, not completely butchered. Please forgive any egregious errors; I blame the coffee (or lack thereof).
The two hugged for a while, then Lu Mingqiu patted her back, “Go take a shower, then go to sleep.”
Yan Xianchuan reluctantly agreed, she let go of her arms and went back to her room obediently.
The hot shower washed away the blood from her body. When she got back into bed, Yan Xianchuan felt very at ease. It might have been the hot steam, or it might have been because the person she was thinking about had come back.
She finally got a full night’s sleep, the only one she had in days. When she woke up the next day, it was already afternoon.
She happily washed up and got dressed. When she came out of the bedroom, she saw Lu Mingqiu sitting on the sofa, her hands flying across the screen, she must have been dealing with business.
“Morning!” She said with a burst of energy.
“Morning, I left some food for you in the kitchen,” Lu Mingqiu smiled at her in between her busy work.
Hehe!
Yan Xianchuan went to the kitchen. It was all her favorite food. She ate until she was full, then she went back to the living room, took a round orange from the coffee table, sat next to Lu Mingqiu, and started peeling the orange.
After peeling the orange, she tasted a segment first. It was sweet and not sour, delicious. Then she picked up two segments and held them to the other person’s mouth, “Want some?”
Lu Mingqiu’s eyes were fixed on the screen, she opened her mouth and naturally ate what was in front of her mouth.
This wasn’t the first time she had done this. At first, she had sternly refused, but later… well, it was all because she was soft-hearted.
After they finished eating an orange, Yan Xianchuan suddenly received a message, it was from Qi Ziyang.
He said he was going to ambush the Yue family, he asked if she wanted to come.
Yan Xianchuan’s eyes lit up, she cleared her throat, “I have something to say.”
Lu Mingqiu stopped her flying hands and turned to look at her, “Hmm?”
She was quite confident at first, but when she got to the point, she suddenly wilted and started to stammer, “Well, Qi Ziyang asked me to go out and beat someone up.”
Yan Xianchuan looked at Lu Mingqiu’s expression, she immediately started to shift the blame, “He was the one who asked me to go, I didn’t ask him to ask me.”
Lu Mingqiu: …
“Go if you want to,” Lu Mingqiu said helplessly, rubbing her temples, “Remember to cover your face.”
Yan Xianchuan was excited and her blood was boiling, she almost jumped off the sofa.
“Wait,” she was about to cheer, then she hesitated, “Does this count as behaving well?”
Lu Mingqiu: “…It counts.”
Yan Xianchuan: “Then can I have an ice cream cone?”
Lu Mingqiu pointed at the refrigerator.
She seemed to understand something, she ran to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator door. Inside, a box of matcha mille-feuille lay quietly.
Theresa and Qi Ziyang met by accident, during a kidnapping.
Theresa was very self-assured and had a mind of her own. She often did things on a whim. Once, she drove so fast that she shook off her bodyguards and drove all the way to the middle of nowhere.
She had been drinking and felt like throwing up, so she decided to go into the woods and lean against a tree.
Then she was kidnapped by vagrants, they were going to sell her.
In the dilapidated, drafty warehouse, she met Qi Ziyang, who had also been captured. When they first saw each other, they both blurted out the same words, “What are you doing here!”
Theresa felt so embarrassed, so awkward. She told him how she had been kidnapped, then she asked Qi Ziyang, wasn’t he already married to the Yue family? How could an omega be kidnapped?
Qi Ziyang sneered, launching into a barrage of curses. He began by insulting their ancestral lineage and went on to criticize their chaotic interactions with both humans and animals. Finally, he reserved his harshest remarks for the Yue family.
Finally, he said, “I was pushed out of the car by that idiot, Yue Lingxiu, and then these people took me away.”
Yue Lingxiu’s intention was to humiliate him, to make him walk home. But this person, whose brain was the size of a walnut, couldn’t imagine that he, a fragile omega, walking alone on the street, wouldn’t have any self-defense ability.
But even if she had thought of it, she probably wouldn’t have cared.
Theresa only then noticed the various scratches on his body in the dim moonlight.
Qi Ziyang said angrily, “I’m going to break her arm and then slap her with her own hand!”
Theresa: Wow.
Theresa: What a unique omega.
Qi Ziyang spat, he leaned over and whispered, “I overheard them talking. We’re going to be transported before dawn tomorrow. There are only two guards nearby, they’re at the door, the rest of them went to steal gasoline. I can untie the ropes, can you take care of the people?”
“Why don’t you just run if you can untie them?” Theresa asked back.
“Do I look like someone who can outrun two strong men?” Qi Ziyang rolled his eyes.
Theresa had learned martial arts, of course, but the ropes they were tied with were very tight, she couldn’t even break free, how could Qi Ziyang untie them?
She thought this, and she asked.
Qi Ziyang sneered, he pulled hard, and there was a snap. His wrist instantly dislocated, it was red and swollen from being tied up.
With one arm gone, the knot naturally loosened. He quickly untied the rope with his remaining hand, then helped Theresa break free.
The moonlight shone on his one hand, the whole hand hung unnaturally, twisted and swollen, it was terrifying.
Theresa was simply stunned.
Was this a human? Was this an omega? Who could dislocate their own hand so calmly!
“You…” She was speechless.
“Hurry up!” Qi Ziyang’s lips were pale, but his eyes were fierce, “Do it, what are you waiting for? The others will be back soon.”
Theresa agreed numbly, she numbly found a half-broken stick and knocked the guards unconscious. Then she took Qi Ziyang and started to run.
As they ran, he looked like an omega. He started to gasp for breath after a few steps, as if he had a bellows in his lungs.
Theresa didn’t think much of it, she picked him up and carried him on her back. She took him to the main road and got into a car together, driving back to her house.
After an examination, Qi Ziyang’s hand was indeed broken. But he wasn’t sad or upset, he immediately put on a prosthetic arm. It looked the same as before, the skin was delicate, but the inside was different.
This was unheard of in the upper class society that pursued natural perfection.
The incident of speeding, getting drunk, and being kidnapped was too embarrassing. She never mentioned it, even her closest grandmother didn’t know. No one knew that they had become familiar with each other after that incident.
Sometimes, when they met at banquets, Theresa would see Qi Ziyang pretending to be gentle and considerate, and she couldn’t help but think of his eloquent words that day.
That’s not entirely true, he was still eloquent, he was currently chatting with her on the communication app, crazily cursing people.
Theresa: You know what, he’s actually right.
She was the kind of person who couldn’t stand a speck of sand in her eye. She hit it off with Qi Ziyang, they were like two peas in a pod, they wished they had met sooner, they wished they could become sworn brothers.
One day, Qi Ziyang asked her, “Don’t you think I’m very unlike an omega?”
Theresa nodded, then shook her head, “You’re not like anyone, and you don’t need to be like anyone. You are you.”
Qi Ziyang laughed, “It’s rare to hear a few human words from your mouth.”
Theresa: “Go, go, go. But seriously, why do you have to be tied to that brain-dead Yue Yongjian? Is he even worthy? I’m so annoyed just looking at him.”
Qi Ziyang said expressionlessly, “Don’t act like I’m doing this willingly. But…” He changed his tone, “If we can find a way to bring down the Yue family, I’ll naturally be free.”
Theresa immediately said with certainty, “Then let’s do it!”
The two of them began to plan the birthday banquet.
The reason why Theresa was so confident throughout the birthday banquet incident was because her relationship with the head of the Newman family, her grandmother, was indeed extraordinary.
Her parents died young, so Theresa grew up under her grandmother’s care. She had a kind of spoiled, reckless boldness, a positive and energetic temperament, she was also very intelligent, and she also had the ruthlessness of a leader, just like the old head of the family when he was young.
In the old head of the family’s heart, she wanted Theresa to succeed her.
So even though she knew that her granddaughter had deliberately set a trap, she wasn’t angry. Instead, she was very pleased.
She used the birthday banquet, she used the Newman family’s status, she even used herself as her granddaughter’s tool. This was exactly the kind of heir the old head of the family wanted to see. She had to be ruthless, she had to use the least cost to gain the greatest benefit.
However, the head of the Newman family still called Theresa to her study and asked in a kind tone, “Do you like Qi Ziyang?”
Theresa didn’t panic at being exposed. On the contrary, if her grandmother didn’t know anything, then she would be a ghost. “There’s really no feeling between him and me, it’s pure friendship, really.”
The head of the Newman family narrowed her eyes, “You’re getting old enough to consider marriage. Do you have any thoughts?”
Theresa said nonchalantly, “Whatever Grandma arranges.”
The old head of the family smiled, “It’s not urgent, I’ll look around some more. But since you’re so concerned about the Yue family, I’ll leave this to you. Take as much of their family business as you can, put it all in your little piggy bank, how does that sound?”
“Then can I…” Theresa made a gesture of slitting her throat.
“Be careful,” the head of the Newman family said calmly, tapping her.
“Grandma is the best!” Theresa threw herself into the old lady’s arms and showered her with affection. Then she immediately told Qi Ziyang the good news.
Theresa rubbed her hands excitedly, “Grandma said it’s okay to kill a few people, but I thought, how can we give them such a painless death.”
“We should ambush them every few days, beat them up to vent our anger. We should at least beat them up ten or twenty times.”
Qi Ziyang: Pfft.
Then he turned around and called Yan Xianchuan.
And then the Yue family began to live a life of misery. Their stock plummeted, their business went downhill, their executives fled, Yue’s father was so worried that his hair turned white, but he was helpless.
To make matters worse, they were constantly kidnapped. The kidnappers didn’t want money or their lives. They covered their mouths and beat them up, and then they even sent them back to their doorstep.
They called the police, but the Investigation Department didn’t care.
They hired bodyguards, but the bodyguards were useless. They couldn’t stop the kidnappers.
They were beaten up every three days, and every five days they were beaten up badly. The family was never without injuries.
Under the double blow of physical and mental abuse, the head of the Yue family fell ill after a short time.
When he fell ill, his youngest daughter, Yue Lingxiu, had a heart attack and also fell ill. She was issued a critical notice that night, and soon, her electrocardiogram became a straight line. She died even earlier than the head of the Yue family.
No one knew that she had been scared to death.
The night before she died, Qi Ziyang strolled into the ward, woke up Yue Lingxiu from her sleep, and started talking about his plan.
The more Yue Lingxiu listened, the angrier she got. She was already dizzy and nauseous, she had been poisoned, and one foot was already on the edge of the underworld. Now, her blood rushed to her head, and she died on the spot.
Yue Yongjian was forced to take over the mess. Facing his broken home, he also knew where the problem lay. He went to Theresa’s door several times, saying that he knew he was wrong, that he shouldn’t have done that, that he shouldn’t have disregarded the Newman family’s face. He said a lot of nice things, but the other person didn’t even react.
Yue Yongjian was a little angry. I’ve apologized so humbly, what more do you want? Are you going to wipe out the Yue family?
Then he saw Qi Ziyang come over and talk and laugh with Theresa. He was furious.
“Oh, you bitch, so you’re the one stirring things up. Lingxiu told me that you and the Yan family member are having an affair, I didn’t believe it. But now I see you and Theresa having an affair. You slut, you’re uncomfortable if you don’t hook up with someone, aren’t you!”
Qi Ziyang: “He’s so stupid.”
Theresa: “Yeah.”
Qi Ziyang: “How’s the cleanup going on your end?”
Theresa: “It’s almost finished.”
Yue Yongjian stomped his feet, “I’m talking!”
Qi Ziyang turned his head and smiled at him, “He’s useless now. I’m tired of watching him make a fool of himself. It’s always the same old lines.”
He was beautiful and delicate, like a porcelain doll. Plus, he had been eating well lately, his complexion had improved, he was even more beautiful than usual.
Yue Yongjian was a lecher, when he saw him smiling at him, he was immediately distracted, his voice softened, “If you come back now, I can pretend that nothing happened.”
Qi Ziyang beckoned him over. Yue Yongjian, as if possessed, walked over. His face was gently slapped twice, “You really can’t change your spots.”
He snorted, his hand slid to the other man’s neck, snap, the man’s face was still filled with shock, and he died like that.
“Oh! You said you were shit!” Theresa didn’t even spare the man on the ground a glance, she teased him, picking up on the words he had said.
Qi Ziyang: ?
Qi Ziyang laughed angrily, “If I’m shit, what are you? We’re in cahoots, so you’re shit too!”
The two of them looked at each other and laughed at the same time.
Yue Yongjian on the ground was dragged away by the bodyguards, he was thrown into a bag like garbage and thrown away.
Theresa took out a pack of cigarettes, “Want one?”
Qi Ziyang shook his head, “I still can’t stand the smell.”
As he spoke, he extended his index finger to the end of Theresa’s cigarette, the skin on his fingertip suddenly moved, revealing a small nozzle like a spray gun, he sprayed a blue flame out and lit the cigarette.
Theresa was used to it, she rolled her eyes and said, “No, today’s a good day, we have to celebrate. Let’s book the Proxima Club, let our Master Qi have some fun!”
Then she received a solid elbow to the ribs, accompanied by the words, “Don’t cause trouble.”
“We haven’t finished the main event yet.”
Theresa suddenly realized, “Right, there’s still your father. The old geezer is still alive and well, what do you want to do with him?”
Qi Ziyang sneered, “I’ve thought about it carefully. It’s too easy to let him die. The old geezer is quite old, but he’s still lustful.”
He made a slicing gesture, “Why don’t we just cut him up?”
Theresa: “Three seconds of schadenfreude for Master Qi.”
From the time the Newman family’s birthday banquet incident happened to the time the Yue family was wiped out, it took about two months. This once powerful and arrogant family was now in ruins, only a few peripheral members remained, and they all kept their tails between their legs.
They still had some money left. They couldn’t spend it as lavishly as before, but compared to the common people, they were still like nouveau riche.
…
During these two months, nothing major happened.
Yan Xianchuan went about her days, she reviewed the documents that Xie Wu handed her, signing them one by one, like a puppet emperor reviewing memorials.
Occasionally, she would offer her own insights. Slowly, she was able to get involved in some business matters.
Of course, this was mainly thanks to Lu Mingqiu, her external brain.
Dingyang City was located in the north, autumn was short. One morning, she got up and looked out the window, it was white all over, it was snowing.
It was warm as spring inside. The two of them sat facing each other, eating breakfast. The TV was playing the morning news, it was all a bunch of useless stuff.
Something like, “A multi-legged cow was discovered in a certain town,” “A building collapsed in a certain town due to heavy snow,” “The endangered animal xx has successfully mated, new offspring are expected next year.”
In this jumble of random, unrelated news about people’s lives and the economy, a timely one suddenly appeared.
—The newly appointed General Polov declared that he would wipe out the Mechanical Holy Land. He had already captured a key figure in this terrorist organization, and he would completely eliminate the social parasites.
Current Mechanical Holy Land member/Resistance member Yan Xianchuan: ?
Current Resistance leader Lu Mingqiu: ?
Lu Mingqiu: “I didn’t hear about this.”
If this was true, such a big move, the Federation wouldn’t know. Besides, mobilizing legions requires an order, the president wouldn’t agree, Azberto wouldn’t have the authority.
She immediately sent a message to someone, and she quickly received a reply: 【The order has been approved, it’s true.】
The Mechanical Holy Land is going to be wiped out?
They hadn’t sent Yan Xianchuan any messages or assigned her any tasks for a long time.
Yan Xianchuan thought for a moment and sent a message to her contact, 【I saw the news that the organization is in danger, what’s going on?】
Her contact, Xiangwei, seemed to be online 24/7. He was very attentive to her, a member of the wealthy family, and he replied, 【Don’t worry, the organization is fine.】
This was very subtle.
The Federation said that this was true. If it was false, the president wouldn’t approve it. But the Mechanical Holy Land said that they were fine, why were they so calm and collected, not at all worried?
In a flash, Lu Mingqiu suddenly grasped a glimmer of understanding that flashed through her mind.
That plan!
Azberto’s grand plan.
It must be related to this.
She told him her suspicions, and finally said, 【I suggest increasing surveillance of Azberto, he’s definitely planning something.】
The other person received the message, but suspicion wasn’t evidence that could be presented.
They could only wait and see.
Besides, Azberto had indeed submitted an interrogation file, it contained information about the internal affairs of the Mechanical Holy Land. He had someone in custody, who was later interrogated by the relevant department. He was indeed a core member of the Mechanical Holy Land, he revealed many of the organization’s movements and internal information.
This couldn’t be faked.
Azberto took on this task and quickly took action.
The first thing he did was to clean up the underworld and underground establishments in Kurtz City. Literally, he swept them clean.
All the members of the underworld, the people who worked in the gray industries, were all killed.
For a time, the whole city was filled with a lingering smell of blood. The crematorium’s chimneys never stopped, they spewed out thick smoke around the clock.
The bodies were piled up into mountains, the whole city was silent, everyone was on edge. When they saw the guards, they were all quiet as chickens.
Once the incident fermented, it caused a stir, public opinion was in an uproar.
Azberto’s public reason was that these people were colluding with the Mechanical Holy Land, they had ulterior motives, and they were endangering the Federation’s security. Besides, he had killed criminals, although he was ruthless, two days later, the security in Kurtz City had improved significantly.
There wasn’t even any petty theft.
Azberto’s reputation suddenly turned around, people thought he had done a great thing.
What person living at the bottom of society wasn’t living in fear every day? From robbery to gang fights, it was happening around them day and night.
Now it was good, the bad guys were keeping their tails between their legs. General Polov was a good man.
But he was still criticized. His actions were too harsh. Besides, you’re making such a big fuss, aren’t you afraid of scaring the snake?
The Federation also had laws. You can’t just kill people, where are the laws?
Azberto nodded obediently on the surface. He hung up the communication and turned to his adjutant, “The experiment is going well, we can start.”
He lifted his thin lips into a cold, sweet smile, and pressed the red button on his desk.
