"And there you have it, folks! Another chapter conquered...or at least, not completely butchered. Please forgive any egregious errors; I blame the coffee (or lack thereof).

The car fell into a long silence.

Yan Xianchuan was right, he was planning to commit suicide. Before, his life had no purpose, no meaning, he lived a carefree life, he didn’t even know what he wanted to do.

Since he met Gu Shuang, she was like a ray of light that illuminated Tan Yiyuan’s dark and overgrown heart, pushing aside the poisonous mushrooms, a candle flame that didn’t shine brightly but always existed, slowly making him experience the beauty of life.

With Gu Shuang, to take care of her, Tan Yiyuan began to strive for excellence, to work hard. He took on more jobs, actively made a name for himself, and earned a lot of money.

They moved into a new house, they no longer had to squeeze into a dilapidated rental.

Gu Shuang had been pampered before, she hadn’t done any housework, but she didn’t just enjoy it, she started learning from scratch.

The first time she fried an egg, it was completely burnt. Tan Yiyuan still ate it all, saying it was delicious and fragrant. Slowly, her cooking skills improved, she no longer accidentally cut her hand when chopping vegetables.

She started tidying up the house, she even learned to weave, she made a cushion for the sofa. She spent half a year weaving this cushion, when it was finished, it was winter, and she was pregnant.

They didn’t register, changing their identities required a lot of money. Gu Shuang’s identity was sensitive, she said she didn’t mind, legal status wasn’t important, the love between them couldn’t be changed by a simple “married.”

They saved that money for their unborn child.

In the autumn of the following year, their child was born. She was thin and small, like a little red monkey, so ugly. The new father was slapped for making that comment.

Tan Xiaoxiao was very cute and well-behaved. Perhaps she knew that her family’s circumstances weren’t very good, she was never fussy, she was very sensible.

With a child, their expenses increased. Tan Yiyuan didn’t want his wife and daughter to suffer, he tried to buy the most expensive things for their daily necessities. Gu Shuang complained that he was spending too much money, she bought him a new jacket to replace his old, peeling one. Tan Yiyuan happily put the new clothes in the closet, he was reluctant to wear them, he turned around and bought new dresses for his wife and daughter.

Later, he quit the Black Claw Gang. Their peaceful life was disrupted, the three of them left their cozy little home, which they had built together, and began to live a life of hiding.

Later, his benefactor helped him destroy the Black Claw Gang. He thought he could finally live a smooth life, but who would have thought.

Tan Yiyuan closed his eyes, he didn’t want to think about what happened next.

Despite this, his wife and daughter’s cold, bloodless bodies, their messy, blood-stained hair, kept flashing in his mind.

He didn’t understand, he didn’t understand, why was it so hard for a person to live a good life?

What had he done wrong, who had he offended? Was this fate? Unpredictable, playing tricks on fools.

He had never done anything against his conscience in his life, he believed that good is rewarded with good, and evil is rewarded with evil. This was the reward he received, a life like a wild dog.

A murky tear seeped into his dirty hair.

The car drove all the way to Yunmeng Terrace, the entire building was the Yan family’s property.

Yan Xianchuan took Tan Yiyuan to the first floor and pushed open a random door, “Rest here for a while.”

Tan Yiyuan walked in without saying a word.

“I hope you’ll calm down and think carefully. If you really want revenge, then act like you’re going to get revenge, don’t deceive yourself.” Yan Xianchuan said.

After saying that, she turned and left. She heard a faint thank you behind her.

She didn’t stop, she took the elevator to the top floor.

Lu Mingqiu was waiting for her in the living room.

“I met someone I know.” Yan Xianchuan told her, she recounted Tan Yiyuan’s story to her.

“He’s a pitiful person.” Lu Mingqiu said.

“Should we help him?” Yan Xianchuan asked, “Just, absorb him into the organization.”

“We can help,” the other person shook her head, “But he’s not the kind of person the organization wants. Our goal is the real controllers of this society, the tycoons, he doesn’t.”

“He doesn’t have a heart for rebellion, he only has a heart for revenge. The two are completely different.”

She changed the subject and said, “But I’m glad you took the initiative to bring him back and offered to help.”

“What’s the big deal.” Yan Xianchuan pretended to be indifferent, “I’m an adult now, I should take on the responsibility of helping the weak.”

Lu Mingqiu brought over a piece of strawberry mille-feuille, she pulled her to sit on the sofa, “Here, how did the communication with Qian Hu go?”

“I don’t like him.” Yan Xianchuan forked a piece of cake and put it in her mouth, “He’s very self-centered, very selfish, and very hypocritical.”

“Respect is not in his dictionary.”

The legitimate mental patient sincerely complained, “I really think that I’m more emotional than them a lot of the time.”

Lu Mingqiu’s eyes and lips curved at the same time when she heard the cute words, “You are indeed very emotional.”

“They can’t say they don’t have any, but their hearts are full of desire, their eyes only see power. Ambition can turn people into demons, they lose their humanity.”

“They’re just beasts in human skin.” She said calmly, “There’s no need to compare yourself to them, they’re not worthy.”

So you think highly of me?

Yan Xianchuan wanted to ask, but she chickened out. It was strange, she actually had a day when she was timid.

But she was indeed a little expectant, and a little afraid, afraid that her expectations were too high, and the answer she received wouldn’t be satisfactory.

It was good this way.

You shouldn’t judge a person by what they say, but by what they do.

This was what her mother taught her.

So it was good not to ask.

But before she went to sleep, she was still replaying that sentence over and over again, she couldn’t stop.

The next morning, Yan Xianchuan called Tan Yiyuan upstairs to have breakfast with them.

For a while now, he couldn’t remember if he had eaten a full meal.

He had been hungry for so long that it had become a norm, he had even started to get used to the pain in his stomach.

After all, physical pain, how intense could it be, it was far less than one ten-thousandth of the pain in his heart.

Breakfast was light, it was specially ordered by Lu Mingqiu.

Tan Yiyuan looked much cleaner. He had taken a shower, he had shaved his hair, the clothes were loose on him, although his physical condition was still bad, his mental state was much better.

The most obvious change was that he no longer had a death wish.

After breakfast, he said, “I’ve thought it over, you’re right. Even if I die, I shouldn’t be so depressed about it.”

“I can help you,” Yan Xianchuan said.

But Tan Yiyuan refused, “You’re from the Yan family, I can’t put you in a difficult position.”

On the one hand, she was negotiating business with the Black Tiger Gang, on the other hand, he was going to cause trouble and make enemies. Wasn’t that putting his benefactor on the spot?

He wasn’t a traitor.

“If you really want to help me,” Tan Yiyuan said, “Then give me some weapons.”

His weapons had all been confiscated by Qian Hu, and he didn’t have the money to buy new ones. Even if he had the money, Qian Hu would give the word, and no one would sell to him.

Whether it was the Yan family or the resistance, they didn’t lack weapons.

Yan Xianchuan took him to the cloakroom. There was a whole wall of various guns, daggers, laser weapons, and small bombs.

Tan Yiyuan only took a pistol and a few grenades.

“Take more.” Yan Xianchuan said, she pulled out a large leather bag from the drawer and started to pack it.

Tan Yiyuan was almost stunned, he quickly pressed down on the opening of the bag, “No, no, I don’t need that many.”

Lu Mingqiu walked over helplessly and pulled Yan Xianchuan aside, “You’re packing so many for him, they’re so heavy, can he even carry them?”

And he was alone, it’s not good to show off your wealth.

She helped pick out two pistols and bullets, she grabbed a few electric lipstick, miniature electromagnetic bombs, etc., all of which were easy to carry.

Yan Xianchuan also transferred a sum of money to his account.

Tan Yiyuan wanted to refuse, if he wanted money, he would have just said so, but he didn’t. He wanted to earn money himself, to earn enough for the fare.

“Why make things so complicated?” Yan Xianchuan said, but he insisted on refusing, so she changed her words, “This money isn’t for you, it’s for Gu Shuang and Xiaoxiao.”

Tan Yiyuan didn’t say anything, he silently accepted it.

“I’m leaving,” he said.

You can’t hold back someone who has made up their mind. Yan Xianchuan respected his decision.

He took two steps, then suddenly stopped and turned around, “I buried them in the Songhe Cemetery. If I don’t come back alive…”

“I’ll go and offer flowers for you.” Yan Xianchuan said.

“Thank you,” he said, “Thank you.”

The cold morning mist hadn’t completely dissipated, it lingered around the middle-aged man who had lost his family, but the morning sun had already jumped over the tall buildings, casting its pale golden light on his shoulders.

“I feel…” Yan Xianchuan hesitated, then slowly said, “Regretful?”

“Is that the right word?” She wasn’t sure what the unfamiliar melancholy welling up inside her was, she looked at the person beside her, asking for confirmation.

“Yes.” Lu Mingqiu stood by the window, watching his retreating figure, “A truly good person shouldn’t have met such an end.”

“Isn’t this society to blame?” She asked back.

“An ordinary family, murdered by another group of thugs for no reason, and afterwards, no judicial authorities came to uphold justice for them, the victims had to fight for themselves.”

“Isn’t it absurd, ridiculous?” Lu Mingqiu said indifferently, “Our laws are just scraps of paper, they’re toys for those in power to satisfy their desires and consolidate their positions.”

“Tan Yiyuan is like this, there are countless others like him in this society. We can help one, a hundred, a thousand, but we can’t help everyone.”

“…So you want to overthrow it.” Yan Xianchuan suddenly understood, she said softly, “This is wrong.”

“I’m glad you understand.”

Sunlight fell into her eyes, turning the blue into an inorganic gold, her tone was like a ruthless judgment machine, announcing her final verdict.

— “This is what I’m going to do.”

…………

Qi Ziyang left the banquet and returned home. Qi Family Head, his father, was furious. He called him into his study and scolded him loudly, “You unfilial son, you’ve disgraced our Qi family!”

“Which omega is like you, shameless, you’re getting it on with someone in public, and so many people saw it. Aren’t you ashamed?”

“If I were you, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. How can you even have the face to come back?”

Qi Ziyang was sprayed with a face full of saliva, but he remained unfazed, “Father, is this my fault? It was Yue Yongjian who framed me. I’ve been married to him for two years, I haven’t done anything wrong to him.”

“But it’s true that you were seen by everyone!” Qi Family Head said angrily.

Qi Ziyang seemed to have expected this. Faced with his own father’s scolding, he was neither sad nor upset, he simply said, “I want to divorce Yue Yongjian.”

“What are you talking about? There’s no such thing as a married omega getting a divorce. If you leave the Yue family, how will you remarry?” Qi Family Head refused without hesitation.

Qi Ziyang sneered in his heart, but he didn’t show it on his face. Instead, he put on an expression of concern for his family, “The Yue family is stupid, they’re covering up for Yue Yongjian, and they haven’t even come to apologize. They clearly don’t respect the Qi family. My face doesn’t matter, but what they’re doing is undoubtedly damaging the Qi family’s face.”

“Besides, Yue Yongjian did this at Head of the Newman family’s seventieth birthday banquet, he stepped on the Newman family’s face. Now is the best time to break off relations with them. Don’t wait until the Newman family retaliates against the Yue family, and we’re still related to them, and we’re retaliated against by the Newman family together. It’ll be too late to regret it then.”

He said earnestly, “Father, breaking off relations with the Yue family now, as the victim, is the most correct and appropriate course of action.”

Qi Family Head was originally furious, but after listening to his words, his anger gradually subsided. He said thoughtfully, “What you said does make some sense.”

“I didn’t expect you to be so clever. You’re truly a son of the Qi family.”

Qi Ziyang said respectfully, “It’s all thanks to your guidance, Father.”

“It’s just that after this incident, I really don’t have the face to stay at home. If it weren’t to see you, Father, I wouldn’t have come back.” He squeezed out a few tears and said reluctantly.

“Father gave me a lot of dowry, that’s enough for me to live on. After the divorce is finalized, I’ll leave Dingyang City.” Qi Ziyang said sadly, “Without me, the protagonist, this matter will gradually fade away, it won’t affect the Qi family.”

Qi Family Head was comforted, “You’re very thoughtful. Go ahead then.”

Qi Ziyang respectfully retreated.

Qi Family Head’s relieved expression disappeared, he pondered, should he curry favor with the Newman family and step on the Yue family?

The two families’ businesses overlapped. If the Yue family fell, wouldn’t he be able to expand his business empire smoothly?

As he thought about it, he started calling his trusted shareholders.

On the other side, Qi Ziyang walked out of his house, got into the car, and his respectful expression gradually changed to a mocking one.

He didn’t say where he was going, but the driver seemed to know all along, he drove the car all the way to Yunmeng Terrace, stopping in front of a building next to a rockery.

He got out of the car and walked inside, he entered his home, first he took a nice hot shower, then he stretched when he came out, and sat down on the sofa.

Then he picked up the remote control, turned on the TV and watched a comedy show.

When it was a little past one in the morning, there was a sudden sound at the door, someone pushed the door open and walked in. It was none other than Theresa.

Qi Ziyang smiled when he saw her, he clapped his hands, “Big Orange, come here, let me pet you.”

A golden tiger walked out from behind Theresa, it ran happily towards him and bumped its head into his arms.

“Oh! Good boy.” Qi Ziyang kissed the tiger’s forehead several times, then he reached out and scratched its chin, his movements were quite skilled.

The golden tiger closed its eyes comfortably and rested its big head on his lap.

“You called *him* first; you didn’t even call me!” Theresa said, her voice laced with resentment. “It’s true, then. The new people have replaced the old. I’m useless, unwanted.”

Qi Ziyang rolled his eyes, “Cut it out.”

“How is it going?”

“How could it not go well? I’m on the case, of course, it’s a piece of cake.” Theresa threw herself onto the sofa, she picked up a pear on the table and took a bite, she said nonchalantly, “Zhao Yi must have been thrown all over the place by now.”

“You didn’t see his expression, hahaha.” The spoiled young lady laughed hysterically, “He probably wouldn’t have thought he would die here.”

“That hypocrite, that piece of trash, he pretended to be heartbroken, he put on an act of being betrayed in front of Wang Yao, that idiot. It’s hilarious.”

“The drug hadn’t even taken effect, he went for it himself. What a charade.” Theresa sneered, “He could fill a truck with his mistresses.”

“Don’t say that.” Qi Ziyang gently rubbed the golden tiger’s ears, “Zhao Da Gongzi’s technique is still pretty good.”

“It’s such a waste on that deadhead.” Theresa said angrily.

“Okay, don’t be angry, I don’t care.” He nudged the person beside him with his elbow.

“Did Old Man Qi agree to your divorce?” Theresa asked about another matter that concerned her.

“He didn’t agree at first, but then I analyzed it for him, and he agreed.” Qi Ziyang snorted, “He’s probably thinking about how to kick me while I’m down now.”

“Then you…”

“Of course, I’m going to find an opportunity to kill everyone in the Yue family one by one.” His words were tinged with a faint killing intent, “Then I’m going to kill everyone in my family one by one.”

“Grandma will definitely deal with the Yue family, they’re doomed.” Theresa frowned slightly, “You’re very dangerous.”

“I have to do it myself.” Qi Ziyang said, “You know my personality.”

“Yeah, yeah.” Theresa made a face, repeating his words, “I have to do it myself.”

“I must have been unlucky in my last life to have a friend like you.”

“Nonsense, you’re clearly very lucky.” Qi Ziyang said with a smile.

Theresa snorted, but she didn’t refute him.

“Yue Yongjian is staying at the Central Hospital. His leg was broken, and he seems to have lost a few teeth. Anyway, his injuries are quite serious, even if he lies in the medical cabin for a night, he won’t be completely healed.”

“I’ve taken care of everything, don’t worry. Even if Grandma sends someone to investigate, they’ll only think I deliberately wanted to cause trouble for him. But that’s not wrong, I really wanted him dead.”

“Yue Yongjian, that idiot, I really don’t understand him.” She was more and more confused, “Ah, how, did everyone in the Yue family go crazy? They actually allowed him to mess around like this, and they even wanted to pass the position of family head to him. Are they crazy?”

“Is there anything in his head besides that thing between his legs? Can that thing lead the family? What are they going to do, have a silver party together?”

“So they’re going to be finished.” Qi Ziyang shrugged, “Why are you getting so worked up about them? We’re normal people, we can’t communicate with people who have problems with their brains.”

“Let’s go to sleep, it’s almost two o’clock.”

The two of them washed up and climbed into the same bed, Big Orange, the golden tiger, slept in the middle, they were as harmonious as a family of three.

Time passed slowly, Qi Ziyang lay in bed, but he suddenly started to move restlessly. His eyes were closed, his eyeballs were rolling around under his eyelids, his feet were kicking wildly, like a rabbit that had been picked up.

The noise woke Theresa up. The golden tiger in the middle had somehow gone to the floor and was lying down. She didn’t pay attention to it, she immediately grabbed Qi Ziyang’s moving hand, covered him with the blanket, and pressed his lower body with her leg.

“Wake up, hey!”

After a while, he escaped the clutches of the nightmare, like a drowning man, he was sweating profusely, he couldn’t stop gasping for breath.

This wasn’t the first time, and it probably wasn’t the last. The two of them were used to it, they didn’t say anything.

Qi Ziyang calmed down for a while, he patted her arm, his voice hoarse, “You’re going to crush me.”

Theresa let go of him, “Just kidding, my figure is perfect, okay?”

She got out of bed and went to the other side, she picked up the blanket that had been kicked off and shook it, she covered Qi Ziyang with it again, then pulled her own blanket back, “Okay, go back to sleep.”

The next day at noon, Qi Ziyang leisurely ate breakfast, then he took a car to the Central Hospital. Yue Yongjian was lying in bed, after a night of treatment, he was mostly healed, he could walk again.

He hated the cramped medical cabin, he didn’t like staying there. Since he could walk, he insisted on getting out. The doctor naturally listened to the patient and sent him back to the VIP ward.

When he saw Qi Ziyang, his expression was unnatural, “What are you doing here?”

Qi Ziyang: “Divorce.”

Yue Yongjian’s eyes widened like copper bells, he began to doubt his ears, “Did I hear that right? You said divorce, are you crazy?”

Qi Ziyang sent him the divorce application, “My father has already agreed, we’re definitely getting a divorce, you better agree quickly.”

“I don’t agree!” Yue Yongjian shouted angrily.

To be divorced by an omega, what about his face!

He only had this one thought in his head, he didn’t think about what kind of reputation he would have left after his behavior last night spread throughout the upper class.

As long as he agreed, he would be free.

Seeing that the freedom he craved most was within reach, Qi Ziyang didn’t want to waste any more words with him. He walked over and grabbed his arm, “Agree quickly if you don’t want it to break.”

“You’re so bold!” Yue Yongjian’s face turned pale, he tried to break free, he shrugged his shoulders hard, he couldn’t, he couldn’t break free.

He couldn’t believe it, he tried again, he dislocated his own shoulder.

“You!”

He looked at the person he had been married to for several years, and he felt so strange. Did he have that much strength?

“Agree quickly.” Qi Ziyang said coldly, “I don’t want to repeat myself for the fourth time.”

“Or, we can wait until this arm breaks, and then we can switch to the other one, and I’ll start counting again.”

His shoulder was getting more and more painful. Yue Yongjian wasn’t a tough guy, he shouted, “Okay, okay! I agree!”

Ding, a new message notification, a message from the Civil Affairs Bureau, saying something like, “We are deeply saddened by your separation.”

Qi Ziyang smiled for the first time since he arrived here. He released his grip on the other person’s shoulder, he patted his face and said meaningfully, “Enjoy your single life. By the way, you can take Wang Yao back, she’ll love you to death.”

He laughed and walked away.

…

After seeing Tan Yiyuan off, the two returned to the living room. Lu Mingqiu received a message that made her face change drastically.

Yan Xianchuan had never seen her emotions fluctuate so violently, she asked in confusion, “What’s wrong?”

“My father is dead.” Lu Mingqiu looked up, her eyes heavy.
