“Surrender?” White looked coldly at the pale-faced man on the ground, who couldn’t hide his smugness and composure. He didn’t even show a hint of panic, fear, or concern for his life.
He was completely fearless, he was very confident that he would survive.
Why?
Just because he was also a psionic? Was he useful?
And these lab assistants, weren’t they working for the church? Weren’t they wholeheartedly supporting the church’s actions? Didn’t they rejoice at their brother’s death? Didn’t they rejoice at the elimination of a formidable enemy?
White sneered and laughed, he grabbed the ladder piled up at the cabin door and jumped out of the airship.
The wind howled in his ears, his gaze was fixed on the group of people, some calm, some angry.
The church’s dogs, not a single one would live.
“Butterfly!” Lu Mingqiu shouted, the latter understood and quickly jumped out with White.
Lu Mingqiu rushed towards the cabin door, her mental power expanded outwards directly, not targeting the church people, but attacking White.
Her speed was already very fast, but White was even faster. A black hole of no light suddenly appeared in the crowd. At first, it was just a point, but it expanded in the blink of an eye, expanding several times. Several researchers were immediately uncontrollably pulled towards the center, they lost their lives in screams.
Seeing this, the Insect Master immediately fell to the ground, he used both hands to grab the vines on the ground, even so, he was still flying backwards. His proud psionic ability was useless at this moment, it was even less useful than a stone on the ground.
His composure vanished, panic, fear of death, and genuine fear crawled all over his face.
As his legs got closer and closer to the edge of the black hole, the Insect Master finally screamed loudly, “Aaaaaah!!!”
The next second, the black hole disappeared, but the Insect Master didn’t get a chance to breathe a sigh of relief, because his lower legs had disappeared from below his knees.
The intense, tearing, soul-wrenching pain made the Insect Master writhe on the ground, his sweat was like mud, his expression was so contorted as if he had died a hundred times.
The lab assistants were even more miserable, almost a third of them died instantly, and some only had half a body left, they lay on the ground, twitching and bleeding.
On the other side, Butterfly caught the unconscious White, she carried him back into the airship cabin, the phosphorescent wings behind her retracted with a whoosh.
The change was too sudden, the others hadn’t even reacted, White had actually gone down to kill.
He was gently placed on the chair, the few of them looked at each other, no one spoke first.
Acting on his own, and almost killing an important prisoner, White had really messed up.
“Bring the hemostatic gel.” Lu Mingqiu said calmly, “Save as many as you can, if you can’t, kill them.”
Several people quickly grabbed the medical kit and jumped off the airship, they quickly fled the scene.
After they left, Black’s voice suddenly sounded, “I didn’t know he would do that.”
“I’ll talk to him when we get back.” Lu Mingqiu said, “Your death had a big impact on him, have you considered using a mechanical cyborg?”
“You mean the Cyber Project?” Black said in surprise, “Wasn’t that project shut down by the government long ago?”
“Do you really believe that?” Lu Mingqiu snorted, “The only thing that was really shut down was the consciousness upload technology, and that was because the machines and blueprints were destroyed, they really couldn’t be made.”
“Even if the Federation doesn’t research it, the tycoons will continue. Morality and ethics? They’re nothing.”
“……Does the organization have any?” Black asked hesitantly.
“If you’re sure, I can apply.” Lu Mingqiu shifted her gaze, looking at the few people below who were busy, “But this is a secret, you can’t show up.”
“You can only stay in White’s room.” she said sincerely, “And there are some additional conditions.”
“Is it to provide feedback on the experience?” Black asked.
“That’s right.” She nodded, “They’ve been looking for a suitable research subject for a long time, stealing plant people from the hospital wouldn’t work either. This person can’t be absorbed into the organization, and they can’t be let go, you can’t save them and then kill them, you know, the organization’s rules, in principle, don’t allow the indiscriminate killing of innocents.”
Yan Xianchuan pricked up her ears, she listened secretly in the corner.
After a while, Black’s reply floated down from the loudspeaker above, “I agree.”
“Okay.” Lu Mingqiu said.
After a while, the few people who had gone down came back with the remaining injured people. The delicate and weak researchers had all fainted, the Insect Master was no exception. The hemostatic gel contained sedatives, he would have fainted even if he hadn’t.
“Secure them, it’s time to go back.” Lu Mingqiu instructed, she walked to Yan Xianchuan’s side, she picked her up and put her in the seat next to her.
In the weightlessness of the ascent, she had just reached out to pull the seatbelt, she wanted to fasten it for Yan Xianchuan, but the feeling under her hand changed instantly, the little sheep suddenly turned into a big living person, her entire upper body pressed against her.
She didn’t know what kind of aftereffect it was, Yan Xianchuan only felt dizzy and nauseous, as if she had been thrown into a centrifuge for thousands of laps and then plunged into a slime goo.
She instinctively flailed a few times, she couldn’t suppress the nausea that kept rising in her stomach, it was like someone was grabbing her stomach and using it as a ping pong ball. She inhaled, she exhaled, but she couldn’t hold it back, she dry-heaved a few times.
Then her face was cupped, a bottle was pressed against her lips, the cool liquid was like a blessing from heaven, Yan Xianchuan hurriedly gulped down a few mouthfuls, then she choked.
She coughed until the sky and earth were dark, she almost coughed up her heart, liver, spleen, and lungs.
Someone patted her back, helping her to catch her breath, and wiped the water off her face with a tissue.
She couldn’t see, but she knew it was Lu Mingqiu.
After coughing for a while, she finally caught her breath, she slumped on the other party’s legs and didn’t move.
Huh? Yan Xianchuan thought with her eyes closed, wasn’t this a knee pillow?
She happily rubbed against the other party’s chest, her nose was filled with the other party’s scent of blood and gunpowder, her heart was about to float to the moon.
She was enjoying herself, but Lu Mingqiu was heartbroken.
The tattered and charred clothes couldn’t hide the wounds on her body, the newly formed pink scars were so conspicuous and eye-catching on her cold white skin.
Besides, her joints were all swollen to varying degrees, as if they had been tied up, leaving circles of pink and purple bruises.
The attackers couldn’t break Yan Xianchuan’s bones, she didn’t take these injuries seriously either, they didn’t stop her from bouncing around.
She didn’t care. But Lu Mingqiu picked up her wrist and carefully touched it, thankfully, it wasn’t broken.
She took a blanket from the seat next to her, she wrapped the person in her arms and said softly, “Go to sleep.”
Yan Xianchuan tilted her head, she had just opened her eyes a crack when she closed them again. She remembered the other party’s reaction when she saw them, it probably wasn’t very good.
“Baa… Ugh!” She opened her mouth to speak, but it turned into a bleat, she was so anxious that she bit her tongue, she quickly coughed a few times, “Aren’t you going to rest?”
It was supposed to be an embarrassing laughing scene, but Lu Mingqiu couldn’t laugh. She pulled the blanket up and gently patted the other party’s back, “You sleep.”
In the airship, the few people sitting in the back hadn’t seen the whole process of the transformation, but they had heard every word.
Gold Ring started winking at the others, typing furiously in the team channel, “You guys, what’s the deal between Yellow Canary and Biscuit?”
You know, getting injured on a mission is a common thing. He had broken his hand last time, and Yellow Canary had only offered a few words of concern.
Butterfly wasn’t interested in gossip, she put on her headphones and listened to music.
Except for him, the others were all from the Yuecheng base, they knew that Yellow Canary was the leader, but only Fan had worked with her.
“What’s wrong? Isn’t it normal?” Fan made a super-standard, straight-man statement.
Last time someone was injured, Yellow Canary was also concerned.
This one sentence was more choking than eating eight hundred steamed buns. Silver Ring is reliable, she understands, Gold Ring couldn’t help but think to himself.
“When have you ever seen Yellow Canary hug anyone? She even comforted her to sleep.” Gold Ring continued, driven by his gossipy nature, “Besides, they’re inseparable, Polite Biscuit only follows Yellow Canary, she never participates in the base’s daily garrison.”
Fan: “What’s wrong, isn’t she just an assistant?”
Gold Ring looked at her with a “you’re hopeless” look, making her look at him in confusion.
Pea joined the conversation. This girl, who had the psionic ability of a bard, had the same romantic personality. Her eyes widened, she silently gasped, and replied in the chat channel, “This must be love!”
Calamus was sharpening her nails with a small knife, she suddenly slapped her thigh, her face full of regret, she muttered softly, “I should have stabbed from the top and bottom!”
Gold Ring looked at her, the others were used to it.
The airship took them back to Yuecheng, mainly for treatment.
Lu Mingqiu wasn’t injured, neither was White, the others were all more or less injured, but they were all minor injuries, superficial wounds. Yan Xianchuan, who had always been thick-skinned, was the worst.
When she had hands and feet, she didn’t think they were useful, but now she knew why humans had evolved this way. Two hands, ten fingers, not too many, not too few, each one had its own purpose.
This time, they didn’t use the public airport, the airship landed at a private helipad in the suburbs.
A flat piece of land, not very big, but it had all the facilities.
There were no landmarks, it was impossible to tell who it belonged to.
Yan Xianchuan was gently pushed by Lu Mingqiu, she couldn’t pretend to be asleep and stay there, she had to slowly sit up.
A pair of hands reached out, they pulled her up, helped her put on the blanket, wrapped herself up, and finally held her hand, she said softly, “Let’s go.”
It was a very soft pair of hands, the skin was delicate, the knuckles were slender, but the palms were warm.
Yan Xianchuan had only been holding it loosely, but after walking two steps, she suddenly tightened her grip, she pressed her hand firmly against the other party’s.
“There are steps.” Lu Mingqiu reminded her softly.
Yan Xianchuan slowly stepped on the stairs, the sun was shining brightly outside, the warm sunlight poured down on her, she closed her eyes, her other senses were quickly amplified. The wind, the voices of people, the sound of a car engine in the distance, and the sound of the person next to her breathing, all fell into her ears.
The concrete floor was flat, she walked smoothly, she came to the car that had been waiting for a long time. Lu Mingqiu reached out to block the roof of the car, she guided her to lift her leg, when she sat in, she sat down properly, then she closed the door and got into the car on the other side.
The others also got into the car, several cars drove away one after another, heading towards the base.
“When we get there, you’ll go straight for surgery.” Lu Mingqiu said, “You’ll be able to see again soon.”
Yan Xianchuan hummed, but she felt a pang of regret and reluctance. If her eyes were healed, would she lose this special treatment?
