"And there you have it, folks! Another chapter conquered...or at least, not completely butchered. Please forgive any egregious errors; I blame the coffee (or lack thereof).

She was concerned about me. Facing her gentle and powerful words, Yan Xianchuan, whose hands were behind her back, fidgeted with her fingertips. Shouldn’t she be more concerned about her own safety?

After all, in a way, she wouldn’t really die.

If she wanted to, she could even swing a wall around and hit someone. Instead of worrying about her safety, it would be better to worry about the enemies she had her sights on.

But Lu Mingqiu still reminded her and cautioned her. Did this mean that in her heart, my status was far above others?

Yan Xianchuan analyzed herself, her gaze darted away, “I will, I will be careful.”

After saying that, she strode out of the bedroom and squatted back down by the window. Lu Mingqiu’s night vision wasn’t as strong as the other party’s, she could only see some outlines. As for the shyness, avoidance, and smugness in human eyes, she couldn’t see any of them, she was lucky if she could barely make out the nose and eyes.

As soon as the person left, she pulled out the floating screen, using its light to illuminate the floor, she put on her shoes and tiptoed towards the door.

Through the peephole, the hallway was dark, there was no light, she couldn’t see anything, she didn’t know what was going to happen. There’s a saying: The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear; and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.

Lu Mingqiu had her own interpretation of this saying. The fear of the unknown was based on the uncertainty of one’s own abilities. If a person had the power to create the heavens and the earth, if he could blow a breath and make the seawater fly to the desert, if he could shatter a planet with a wave of his hand, if he was immortal, would such a person fear the unknown?

No, because he would be able to handle any situation.

It wasn’t so much fear of the unknown, but rather fear of not being able to determine whether the outcome that was about to come was something that a person could bear.

Lu Mingqiu was never afraid. Although she didn’t have this ability, she had the most steadfast and calm attitude. The unknown was just a stone that she could easily step over on her journey through life, it was on the same level as criticism, scrutiny, and failure, she didn’t care about fear, she didn’t care.

Humanity has only one predetermined outcome, and that is death.

Before she died, there was only one thing she had to do, face it, and then make a choice.

That’s all.

So when a large group of gray rats swarmed over like a black tide, their toes easily hooked onto the wall, they walked as if they were on flat ground, and they squeaked, they didn’t hide their presence at all. The rats swarmed forward, covering the door, they used their long teeth to gnaw out a pile of debris.

Lu Mingqiu wasn’t panicked, her mental power spread outwards, like an invisible poison, the rats that were lying by the door were like mosquitoes that had been fumigated, they fell down layer by layer, very quickly.

It was as easy as tearing a piece of toilet paper for her to kill these rats.

The psionic who was controlling them saw that the situation was not good, he wanted to command the rats to retreat, but it all happened in the blink of an eye, the hallway was filled with dead rats, piled up as high as half the door.

There was no follow-up attack, the other party left, or ran away, realizing that he had picked a fight with a tough opponent, so he ran.

This was the best choice, in essence, these townspeople were also victims, Lu Mingqiu hoped that they would all retreat, allowing them to quietly wait for reinforcements to arrive.

If they were reckless and attacked her, as Lu Mingqiu had told Yan Xianchuan, she wouldn’t show any mercy, and she wouldn’t feel a moment of guilt for having blood on her hands.

In order to carry out her ideal will, she had to ensure her own life, so their deaths were naturally classified as necessary sacrifices.

Idealism above all else.

Lu Mingqiu glanced at the time, it was one in the morning.

This was also a riot, but the townspeople were clearly smarter, they knew how to hide, they knew how to ambush, they weren’t like the mindless people in the afternoon who only knew how to fight instinctively.

Did this mean that they would become more and more conscious, until finally they became normal psionics, and the people who died were the defective products that were eliminated?

Time passed minute by minute, the night was no longer silent, conflicts broke out from time to time, but the dark environment was the best camouflage, everyone was the best assassin in their minds.

“Someone’s coming.” Yan Xianchuan said softly, “They’re coming from the building in front.”

“Is that the one you mentioned before?” Lu Mingqiu turned her head and asked.

“No.” Yan Xianchuan said, “I remember his figure, he was taller than this one.”

Lu Mingqiu: “Stay put, be vigilant.”

Yan Xianchuan stared intently, not worried that the person would notice her gaze, because he was so blatant, he was walking openly on the road, not trying to hide at all.

Either he was stupid or confident, but since he was the first person to walk out of this building instead of running away, the latter possibility was undoubtedly greater.

He walked leisurely, step by step, stepping over the corpses on the ground, he pushed open the front door on the first floor.

He didn’t deliberately soften his footsteps, he knocked on each door, but the downstairs was empty, there was no one.

So he started to walk upstairs, halfway up, his footsteps stopped, he paused, looking at the rat corpses rolling down the stairs.

“No offense intended.”

It was a woman, and her voice was surprisingly sweet, like honey and milk candy, sweet and sweet.

Yan Xianchuan hadn’t been able to tell if she was male or female before, because she was dressed very warmly, she couldn’t tell her figure, she was also wearing a baseball cap, you couldn’t tell a person’s gender just by looking at their height, weight, or build.

“I’m not here to cause trouble.” she said, “If you can communicate normally, maybe we can join forces.”

Lu Mingqiu didn’t say anything, and naturally, Yan Xianchuan didn’t say anything either.

“You’re a powerful person.” she said, “I know you’re still here, on the second floor, there are three people. I can see your flames of life, vigorous, unrestrained.”

“Tell us, what do you mean by joining forces?” Lu Mingqiu didn’t push the door open, she said loudly through the door.

But the old residential building didn’t have good sound insulation, so her voice went through the door and into the other party’s ears.

“My name is Meni.” she said, “But before we chat, I have a question to ask, do you believe in the church?”

Meni said sweetly, “This is related to the content of our conversation, I’ll tell you mine first, I don’t.”

“I don’t either.” Lu Mingqiu replied, at the same time, she felt an unnatural temptation.

The other party was using her voice to mentally interfere with her, this was like a fake painter meeting an archaeologist, she had chosen the wrong target.

“That’s great.” Meni said excitedly, “I asked a few, their brains are already stupid, they can’t tell who’s good and who’s bad, I have nothing to say to them.”

“Since you don’t believe in the church, you must have some guesses about the current situation.” She tilted her head and looked at the dark stairs, “I want to join forces with some people, we’ll all work together, we’ll find a way to get out of here, how about it?”

“We can’t escape on our own.”

“I’ve been to the forest, it’s been blocked off, this is the church’s pig farm, we’re the pigs waiting to be slaughtered.” Meni’s voice was full of temptation, like a spoonful of soft and sweet cream, it made people unprepared, “You’re a smart person, you should be able to make the right choice.”

“Do you already have a plan?” Lu Mingqiu asked.

“Of course! Of course I have a plan.” Meni laughed, “But this part of the content should be discussed face-to-face, what do you think?”

Lu Mingqiu was thinking, but Yan Xianchuan, who was supposed to be watching from the window, quietly came to her side and said softly, “She killed someone, I can smell the blood on her.”

She was about to say that this Meni was a bad guy, but Lu Mingqiu was paying attention to something else, “Your nose is so sensitive?”

Yan Xianchuan: “……I’m not a dog.”

Lu Mingqiu wanted to laugh, but she forced herself to hold it back. She had asked out of concern for the person’s ability, who knew the other party would reply with such a nonsensical answer.

After two melees during the day, it would be strange if she hadn’t gotten blood on her hands.

“Okay.” She thought for a moment and replied, “You can come in.”

If she really wanted to seek cooperation, then that would be one more fighting force. If she had bad intentions, Lu Mingqiu was confident that she could deal with her.

“This pile of rats is really disgusting.” Meni muttered to herself, she waved her hand, and the rats on the floor actually moved, they scurried down the stairs.

She didn’t ask where the two of them were, she went straight to the door and knocked.

Knock knock knock.

Yan Xianchuan stood by the door, she pushed Lu Mingqiu back, letting her open the door.

“Good evening.” Meni said sweetly, stepping into the room.

As soon as they met, Yan Xianchuan scanned her from head to toe. She was wearing a black jacket, it looked a little big, it didn’t look like her own clothes, her hair was short and messy, it looked like she had a perm, she had red hair and brown eyes, she wasn’t tall, she wasn’t beautiful, but she was easy on the eyes, she had a sense of vitality.

It was mainly her eyes that Yan Xianchuan was familiar with. A kind of excited, fervent, slightly neurotic gaze, it was exactly like her own.

Yan Xianchuan put away the harmless expression she had when she was facing Lu Mingqiu, she stared at her coldly.

They looked at each other, Meni rolled her eyes and said with a giggle, “Oh, I didn’t expect it to be two girls.”

“You can tell us your plan.” Yan Xianchuan said.

“Plan.” Meni licked her lips, “Yes, that’s right, I have a plan, it’s very simple.”

“There are too many people in the town, there are psionics everywhere, there are always some useless ones, they’re psionics, but they’re useless.” She cracked a smile, “These people are perfect to use, as scouts.”

“The church people will definitely show up, we’ll use them to attract attention, then we’ll take the opportunity to leave, it’s so simple.” Meni raised her hands, “Before that, I have a request.”

She burst into laughter, “Let me eat you! If I eat you, I’ll be stronger!”

Fireballs the size of a palm shot out of her hands, they flew towards the two of them, at the same time, she opened her mouth wide, her mouth spewed out a string of words: “Dizzy! Freeze!”

The two of them dodged the fireballs at the same time, they dodged to the sides, dizziness was a mental attack that was ineffective against her, Lu Mingqiu was about to counterattack, but she was frozen in her legs by ice that came from somewhere, she was just dodging outwards, her feet slipped, she rolled on the ground, this time she twisted to the side, her gaze shifted away from Meni.

Yan Xianchuan was even faster, dizziness was a mental shock, it wasn’t within the protection range of the brain barrier, but even though her head was dizzy, she didn’t slow down, she charged straight at Meni, even if she didn’t attack, with her speed, she could knock her flying.

Meni panicked, “Petrify! Bad luck! Mute! Blind! Deaf!”

She spoke quickly, but when it reached Yan Xianchuan, it was like a spell that slipped and flew into the sky.

“Transform into a sheep!”

Yan Xianchuan suddenly crouched down, she went from two legs to four legs, she was startled, her four long legs split apart, she slipped on the ground, with a plop, the horn on her head directly stabbed into Meni’s stomach.

Lu Mingqiu also rolled over on the ground, her mental power was like a long needle, she stabbed it into the other party’s head, Meni had just opened her mouth, her pupils instantly dilated, she fell straight to the ground.

As soon as she died, the spell-like curses disappeared, Yan Xianchuan regained her senses, she walked two steps on the ground, her four hooves made a thudding sound on the floor.

Yan Xianchuan lowered her head and looked at her hooves, she was startled and cried out, “Baa!”
