"And there you have it, folks! Another chapter conquered...or at least, not completely butchered. Please forgive any egregious errors; I blame the coffee (or lack thereof).

The silenced pistol made a series of muffled bangs, flames spewing out, like a lightning bolt wrapped in thunder exploding in the palm of her hand.

The situation took a sharp turn. Yan Xianchuan, caught off guard, instinctively lunged to the side, rolling off the bed, but the bullet still grazed her head, leaving a broken, bloody mark from her cheekbone to her temple.

The hot, burning pain was mixed with the smell of gunpowder and smoke. She was just a hair’s breadth away from ascending from the ground to the arms of death.

The sense of crisis of being on the verge of death made Yan Xianchuan’s heart jump. Her eyes suddenly lit up, like a beacon light taken from a lighthouse, shrunk and hung in her eyes. She stared straight at Lu Mingqiu, her pupils shrinking to a small dot due to excitement, endless interest and joy gushing out from the void, turning into a thick, viscous gaze, wrapping around the person holding the gun.

“That’s unexpected.” She said, flipping over from the ground and pouncing on Lu Mingqiu.

The magazine had already been emptied, Lu Mingqiu threw away the pistol, her thumb pressed against the ring on her index finger, a thin, hair-like anesthetic needle, as light as a feather, but as fast as lightning, pierced the air.

Her demeanor changed too abruptly. Is she really a psionic? The other party’s change in demeanor was too abrupt, it was as if she had shed her disguise, or as if she had directly switched personalities. She couldn’t understand why her psionic ability had failed, this person was definitely not a psionic, but Lu Mingqiu didn’t lose her focus because of this, her eyes were calm, her brain was running at high speed.

Besides the pistol that was no longer usable, she only had a dagger on her, the anesthetic needle was dodged, and she only had the electric shock ring left.

These two were the only weapons and tools she had left.

The bedroom and study both have other weapons. I need to get there.

Lu Mingqiu bent down, dodged the other party’s grabbing hand, and countered with a side kick, but Yan Xianchuan grabbed her ankle, she didn’t use much force, she didn’t directly crushed it, but she held on tightly, preventing Lu Mingqiu from pulling her leg back.

As soon as Yan Xianchuan exerted force, trying to pull her over, the person in her hands suddenly jumped up, trying to kick her arm with her other leg, but this would inevitably involve turning the leg she was holding.

I don’t want to hurt her. But if I hold on, her ankle will break.

She released her hand and took two steps back.

The false affinity and goodwill brought by the mental psionic ability had dissipated completely when Lu Mingqiu tried to invade her brain, but Yan Xianchuan still had a good feeling about her.

The memory was still there, the feeling naturally wouldn’t disappear, when Lu Mingqiu unhesitatingly raised her gun and shot, trying to kill her, her good feeling actually became stronger.

Yan Xianchuan had to admit that she was no different from those madmen she had looked down upon and drawn a line between. She deceived others and deceived herself, repeating the false lie to herself hundreds and thousands of times, “I like ordinary life, I’m a normal person,” but the facts wouldn’t change because of this.

When she lived an ordinary life, she had no interest, everything seemed bland, she was like a corpse just pulled out of a cold storage, her thinking was rigid, her expression was numb.

But once there was a sense of crisis and blood, she would instantly come back to life.

She said she was afraid of trouble, but in fact, she was just afraid of taking off the mask of normalcy, afraid of exposing her true self. She came to the peaceful society she wanted, so she wanted to pretend to be an ordinary person, but a poisonous snake wouldn’t give up hunting just because it was kept in a cage.

She controlled her strength and fought with Lu Mingqiu. The latter’s skills were obviously much better than hers, Yan Xianchuan wasn’t very good at fighting, she could fight, but there was a big difference between her and someone who had been specially trained.

She relied entirely on her better physical fitness, on brute force.

The sharp edge of the knife couldn’t even break her skin, but her clothes were torn to shreds.

The pajamas were already very thin, Yan Xianchuan didn’t have the hobby of fighting naked, she endured the stinging pain of the electric shock, grabbed the other party’s arm with one hand, got close to Lu Mingqiu’s body, grabbed her shoulder, twisted her body and threw her onto the bed, then pressed down on her, using her knee to press against her lower back.

Yan Xianchuan chuckled softly, leaning down to her ear, “Miss, is there anything you can’t talk about properly?”

Lu Mingqiu was silent for a moment, relaxing her tense muscles, pretending not to resist, she asked with a heart full of despair, “Before you kill me, just to satisfy my curiosity, who are you?”

“Yan Xianchuan, you know, that’s my name.”

“Are you so wary even when facing someone who can’t fight back?” Lu Mingqiu said, “I investigated her, she’s weak in personality, she’s also despised by her family, besides, Yan Xianchuan’s evaluation level is only C, she couldn’t possibly have your kind of strength and skill.”

“I have no reason to deceive you, and I won’t kill you,” Yan Xianchuan shrugged. “I thought we were getting along, but that’s not quite right. After all, you get along with everyone. Ah, you’re acting, aren’t you? Like a superhero tactics. You’ve been in movies. You’re trying to get information, pretending to be vulnerable, lowering my guard—just like that scene where Night Owl infiltrated the Bourne family’s house! Exactly the same! Sorry, I got carried away. I’m the person you’re talking about; I just have amnesia.”

“Amnesia?” Lu Mingqiu didn’t believe it at all.

“I was also one of the survivors of the airship attack. Except for my name, I don’t know anything about what happened to this body before.” Yan Xianchuan said sincerely, “Look, my face is my original face, I haven’t changed it, my brain hasn’t changed either, my arms, my legs, they’re all still on my body, these are my own parts.”

Lu Mingqiu carefully sensed her mental fluctuations, she didn’t invade the other party, trying to search her memories or control her, the main god’s barrier wouldn’t attack.

When she said these words, she really wasn’t lying.

Was I wrong, was it all a coincidence, had she misunderstood?

Lu Mingqiu found it even more unbelievable, after a person loses their memory, their behavior will instinctively lean towards their true self, because the body still has memories.

Someone who knows how to cook, even if they lose their memory, they will still be at home in the kitchen, someone who can’t swim, even if they lose their memory, they won’t suddenly become a water athlete.

If what Yan Xianchuan said was true, it proved one thing, the original her had been pretending, pretending to be incompetent, pretending to be cowardly, deceiving everyone.

“Face-to-face conversations are more polite, wouldn’t you agree? Look, I could easily break your neck, but I didn’t,” she said, fingers lightly tracing the other person’s nape. “Doesn’t that demonstrate my sincerity?”

“Now I’m going to let you go.” The word rolled off her tongue and between her lips, her laughter turned into a stream of air, vaguely escaping from between her teeth, her tone was as sweet as honey, “I hope we can have a friendly chat.”

The pressure and restraint on her body were released, Lu Mingqiu sat up, looking at her with an inquisitive gaze, her eyes narrowed.

Yan Xianchuan was wearing clothes full of small holes, she was half-sitting up, supporting herself with one hand behind her, these were all unimportant, what mattered was that she was actually smiling.

Her lips were actually curled up, the curve was obvious, her eyes were filled with intense interest and curiosity, the hazy moonlight cast shadows on her face, but her eyes were particularly clear in the darkness, like a fake painting, a pair of bright spots, shards of broken glass, firelight trapped in a jar.

This was abnormal, it was too abnormal.

In the past week, Lu Mingqiu had never seen her smile, and she had never heard her say so many words, it was like a floodgate had opened, pouring out non-stop.

What she said seemed to be clear and logical, but the topics jumped around, her speech was incredibly fast, as if her brain was spinning too fast and her mouth couldn’t keep up, there was a strange nervousness.

Lu Mingqiu had seen similar things, mostly in people who were high.

She pondered, unsure how to speak for a moment.

“You must be thinking about what to say, right? I have a good topic, let’s talk about you, how about that?” Yan Xianchuan smiled, looking very considerate, “You asked about my identity, now I’m asking you back, it’s fair, right?”

“Lu Mingqiu, that’s my name.”

“You know I’m not asking about that.” Yan Xianchuan’s smile faltered slightly. “Someone who works in the film industry wouldn’t have your kind of strength and skill, nor would they have your kind of reaction speed, and those little gadgets. Oh, right, you also often jump out the window to ‘fight crime,’ it seems like the night view outside is really too beautiful, it makes people want to do it.”

She tapped the flower-shaped ring on Lu Mingqiu’s slender finger, “What’s your hidden identity? Don’t bother denying or lying, friendly conversation, remember?”

“I’m a member of a secret organization. I attacked you because I felt that you were different from the results of the investigation, I suspected that you were an undercover agent sent by another organization to get close to me.” Lu Mingqiu said.

“Secret organization…” Yan Xianchuan leaned closer, “Are they recruiting?”

Lu Mingqiu didn’t back away or dodge, their faces were inches apart, their breaths intertwined.

Yan Xianchuan’s dark eyes were like two black holes, sucking in her gaze.

“They are.” She said.

“What do you think of me?” Yan Xianchuan suddenly stood up and spun around, as if she were displaying a product, she asked excitedly, “I think I’m quite suitable, um… I’m very strong, you’ve already tried that, my brain should be considered smart too, most importantly, I’m very good at following orders!”

She was excited, jumping up and down like a monkey who had stolen a bunch of bananas, chattering about her advantages, even including things that were completely irrelevant, like being able to eat all the cream on a twelve-inch cake.

Lu Mingqiu found it hard to believe the last thing she said.

It was more absurd than a three-year-old child saying they were a math doctor.

She had no idea what this person was thinking.

Facing someone who had just tried to kill her, she had no qualms, not to mention wanting to join the other party’s organization, she didn’t even ask what the organization was for!

“Can I ask why you want to join?” Lu Mingqiu said.

“Because it’s fun.” Yan Xianchuan replied.

Fun…?

Lu Mingqiu thought for a while and said, “I agree to let you join, but there are conditions, you need to be under my supervision.”

“Okay.” Yan Xianchuan said, a solidified smile still playing on her lips.

“This requires placing a chip in your brain to keep track of the members’ movements at all times.”

Lu Mingqiu explained the specific means of supervision, then said, “And you must act according to my instructions, you cannot disobey orders.”

“No problem.” Yan Xianchuan said with a smile.

Lu Mingqiu couldn’t figure out this person, she found her tricky. The other party’s cooperation made her feel even more absurd. Didn’t she know that once a chip was implanted in her brain, her life would be in someone else’s hands?

Lu Mingqiu could make her head explode with a single thought, and she was still smiling, she didn’t care about her own life at all.

What was this? Trusting her character?

Don’t be ridiculous.

But Lu Mingqiu couldn’t think of a good solution either, the two of them seemed harmonious, but her life wasn’t in her own hands, believing what someone said about not taking action was as ridiculous as believing that the sun would rise in the west.

She could only go along with the other party.

“I’m glad we’ve reached a consensus, now it’s…” Yan Xianchuan looked up at the clock, “12:35, it’s time to go to sleep.”

“…I’ll take you to the organization’s base tomorrow, you need to undergo ability testing and evaluation.” Lu Mingqiu said, “You’ll also need to do some questionnaires.”

“Okay.” Yan Xianchuan said, “You should go, I need to change clothes.”

Lu Mingqiu walked out of the messy room in silence, closed the door, and looked at the empty corridor.

She had the opportunity to return to the bedroom and get a new gun, but she couldn’t guarantee that she could kill the other party.

At such close range, with such a sudden shot, the other party could still dodge, if she failed again, the situation would be completely out of control.

She couldn’t gamble, and she couldn’t die.

This was a crazy, neurotic person, Lu Mingqiu seriously suspected that she had some mental problems, normal people wouldn’t do this.

“Do you have a treatment device?” The door was suddenly pulled open, Yan Xianchuan stood at the door, pointing to the wound on her head, the blood was no longer oozing, the solidified red mark was like splattered ketchup, the curled flesh was like a centipede lying on her face.

“You need to have a neat appearance for the interview, I remember there’s a saying like that.”

“I’ll take you there, there’s one in the study.” Lu Mingqiu said.

They walked through the corridor one after the other and entered the study.

This was the first time Yan Xianchuan had been here, she had always respected other people’s privacy, she hadn’t been anywhere except the living room and her own bedroom.

There was a bookshelf in the study, in this era where electronic reading was prevalent and paper books were almost extinct, even teaching was done using projection, projected onto everyone’s portable light screens, paper books were probably only owned by the rich and idle upper class.

She walked over and took a look, there were poetry collections, philosophy books, psychology, history, and several books in languages she didn’t recognize, covering a wide and diverse range.

Those languages she didn’t recognize weren’t world languages, they were probably local languages from different regions.

After the Great Purge, the Federation consolidated all political power, becoming the only ruling party, promoting the common language, this was a language and writing system that everyone had to learn, the native languages of different countries were collectively called minor languages.

Many older people didn’t know the common language very well, while younger people knew it better.

But with the existence of translators, language barriers were no longer a problem.

Yan Xianchuan obviously didn’t know anything about minor languages.

“You need to clean the blood off your face first.” Lu Mingqiu said, holding a treatment device with a long, flat mouth, she pushed the alcohol wipes on the table forward.

Then she raised her hand and tapped the photo frame, a wave of light flowed, Lu Mingqiu’s teenage self flipped over, turning into a mirror.

Yan Xianchuan sat down in the chair, picked up the alcohol swab, looked in the mirror and wiped her face, “By the way, what’s the name of this organization, I don’t think I’ve asked you yet.”

“Starfire.” Lu Mingqiu said.

Even the smallest flame can burn a person, even the most scattered fireworks can emit light. Although it is weak, it can still be used to fight against the dull darkness, countless stars gathered together, how can they not become a prairie fire, how can they not dispel the night.

If there is no day, then they are the only source of light, that is Starfire.

“Of course, the outside world has another name for us – the Resistance.”

“I know that!” Yan Xianchuan raised her eyebrows, “I saw it on the news.”

The Resistance, in the mouths of newscasters, was one of the two major terrorist organizations, along with the Mechanical Pure Land, they were all criminals who disrupted people’s lives and opposed the government.

As for the Holy Healing Church, the running dog of the chaebols, the official statement was that it was just an ordinary religion, it had to be said, this was the biggest and most ridiculous thing in this absurd and free society.

The people were like fish in a can, they could only see what the controllers wanted them to see, everything they knew was just the tip of the iceberg of this world, and they were very forgetful.

“What’s said on the news isn’t necessarily true, it’s more about what the people above want you to see.”

She shed the gentle disguise that came with her identity as an actress, Lu Mingqiu’s words became sharp.

She wasn’t actually a gentle person, on the contrary, she wouldn’t have joined the Resistance if she hadn’t had the courage to be radical.

“The purpose of Starfire is to fight against the chaebols, to fight against the iron wall that oppresses the people.”

“Your aspirations are quite grand.” Yan Xianchuan wiped the dried blood off her face, stretched her face forward, and tilted her head slightly, closing her eyes.

Under the warm yellow light, her fan-like eyelashes cast long shadows, her nose was round and blunt, her lips were pale. Her eyes, filled with wild joy, were covered, she was like a delicate doll displayed in a shop window, held in the arms of children, dressed up.

Harmless. Deceptive.

Like a napping polar bear, its fluffy body made it look cute and cuddly, it didn’t look like it could easily bite through the spine of its prey.

Lu Mingqiu turned on the treatment device, a blue beam of light shone on the wound, the machine hummed, the broken flesh healed at a visible rate.

The accelerated healing of the wound brought a concentrated, doubled itch, like being nibbled by ants, the poison injected into the body transformed the pain into a numb itch, but the pain was too severe, exceeding the conversion limit, the two unbearable sensations were mixed together.

Lu Mingqiu clearly saw that the other party’s lips were curled into a faint, ambiguous smile.

Was she enjoying it?

The long beep ended, Lu Mingqiu put away the treatment device, “It’s healed.”

Yan Xianchuan opened her eyes, turned her head and looked in the mirror, she said with surprise, “Not bad, my face can’t be damaged.”

“Good night, sleep well!” She walked to the door, then turned back, “I’m already looking forward to tomorrow.”

Lu Mingqiu watched her leave, after a long time, she relaxed her tense nerves, let out a breath, and let herself lean back in the chair.

This was a problem, this person, this matter, and yet she had to accept it.

The next morning, Yan Xianchuan slept in, she walked downstairs, she had slept for a while and it was as if she had changed personalities, or perhaps her crazy side had temporarily subsided.

In any case, she no longer had that stiff, awkward smile on her face, Lu Mingqiu felt a slight sense of relief, it proved that the other party’s emotional state was much more stable.

But she wasn’t as cold as before either, if Lu Mingqiu had to describe it, this person looked like a lion that had eaten its fill, hiding under a tree from the scorching sun, there was a lazy, relaxed feeling.

“Good morning.” Yan Xianchuan said.

“I ordered breakfast for you.” Lu Mingqiu looked back calmly, “After you eat, we can leave.”

Yan Xianchuan sat down at the dining table, looked at the three or four kinds of breakfast, picked up the soy milk and took a sip, “I thought you had to be on an empty stomach for a physical exam.”

That’s what she remembered, her initial, pre-life memories.

Looking at it now, it was probably outdated.

After Black was attacked, the branch was evacuated and relocated, the organization had many strongholds in Nanjin City, these were unknown to ordinary members.

Poison Sting was taken away by Grey Wolf for interrogation, he had a small gadget in his brain, he had relied on this to avoid Lu Mingqiu’s search.

Black managed to hack into the chip, intercepting the signal it sent, preventing the people from the Church from knowing that the undercover agent had been exposed.

An order came down from above, to transport Poison Sting away, connect him to the brain machine, as long as the mental fluctuations were still there, the brain machine could operate normally, reading the user’s memories.

The new stronghold was in the basement of a clothing factory, which was also one of Starfire’s industries.

Lu Mingqiu had ordered the others to prepare the things needed for surgery, as well as several sets of test questions, last night.

Yan Xianchuan watched as Lu Mingqiu changed her clothes from head to toe, changed her face, and then threw her an earring, “Cover your face.”

Yan Xianchuan put on the earring, she felt a little regretful. She couldn’t use her own face, hadn’t she treated it for nothing last night?

The car drove for over an hour before it stopped, the two of them pushed open the back door of the clothing factory one after the other, and took the elevator to the basement.

This underground branch looked just like the ones in the movies.

Yan Xianchuan had watched many superhero movies and spy movies, the people in them, good guys and bad guys alike, all had their own secret bases.

Black or white walls, empty, clean corridors, even flies would slip on them, people in leather shoes walked through them, making a click-clack sound.

She hadn’t seen a single person along the way.

An organization dedicated to fighting against the chaebols couldn’t possibly have so few people, there was only one reason why she couldn’t see anyone, they had been ordered to leave.

Yan Xianchuan knew she wasn’t trusted, but she didn’t care.

She was interested in Lu Mingqiu, she didn’t have any feelings for the Resistance’s ideals.

What oppression from the chaebols, what inequality among the people, it has nothing to do with her.

She was taken to an operating room, laid on the operating table, a person covered from head to toe walked over silently and injected her with an anesthetic.

The first thing they did was tie her up.

A wise move, I like it.

Yan Xianchuan slept for a while, then woke up again after ten minutes, and there was something in her brain that wasn’t there before.

My brain is quite crowded now.  As for the chip behind her ear, Yan Xianchuan had thrown it away, she thought it was useless.

After the surgery, Yan Xianchuan followed Lu Mingqiu into a spacious, bright, and unusually empty room, with a table and two chairs inside.

Lu Mingqiu sat on one of the chairs, pulled out a floating screen, and sent her several sets of test questions.

You answer first. After you’re done, I have a few questions for you.

“Five hundred questions… okay, don’t worry, I don’t like to lie.“ Yan Xianchuan said.

This set of questions wasn’t to determine whether she had mental problems or not, Lu Mingqiu was sure she did, she wanted to know if the other party had a split personality.

Chaebol families lack warmth the most, what they don’t lack is struggle. The former Yan Xianchuan didn’t have the courage to fight, nor did she have outstanding skills and abilities, so she was naturally pushed to the edge, ridiculed, mocked, and suppressed, the biggest reason she was still alive was that she was useless enough, she wasn’t a threat, her siblings didn’t bother to deal with her.

It was normal for a person to develop mental problems after being under high pressure for a long time, it was also possible that she had split into a completely different personality to protect herself.

The Yan Xianchuan Lu Mingqiu knew, although cold, was decisive, very strong, completely different from the previous her.

She had every reason to suspect this.

After answering these questions, Lu Mingqiu asked a few more. Among them was the classic trolley problem.

For a person with a conscience and a respect for life, this question is difficult to answer. One person’s life was no lighter than five people’s, life was priceless, and no one had the right or qualification to arbitrarily control the life and death of others.

Yan Xianchuan almost didn’t think, she said, “It has nothing to do with me.”

Whether it was one person or five people, she didn’t care at all, she didn’t think life had value, weight, or needed to be respected. Someone died in front of her, her mood didn’t fluctuate, someone died because of her, she wouldn’t feel guilty either, she might even find it enjoyable.

Lu Mingqiu: “What if you had to make a choice?”

Yan Xianchuan: “Then I would save the larger group.”

Lu Mingqiu: “Why choose that way?”

Yan Xianchuan: “Because there are more people.”

In my heart, I have my own moral standards. I refer to the common rules of the social environment, but even if I do, for example, not littering, not spitting, it’s not because I think it’s right, but because I want to fit in.

To disguise her abnormality.

I chose the side with more people, not because it’s more worthy, but simply because there are more of them.

Severe lack of empathy.

The test results came out quickly, for a psychopath, this was a very standard, very normal answer sheet, it could even be used as an example in class.

Typical lack of emotion, skilled at acting, no guilt for wrongdoing, universal concepts of good and evil are meaningless to them.

“How do you think your mental health is?” Lu Mingqiu asked tentatively, a somewhat dangerous question.

“I have a little problem, but overall, it’s still pretty good, I’m a healthy, ordinary person who loves life.” Yan Xianchuan said after thinking for a while.

As soon as I woke up this morning, I retracted my evaluation of myself yesterday.

Yan Xianchuan insisted that she was a person with normal values, at most, she didn’t care about life and death. She was an ordinary person, born into an ordinary family, even if she later entered the escape game, it couldn’t erase her essence.

I’ve seen life and death so many times, it’s only natural that I don’t feel anything.

If she had to feel sad, heartbroken, painful, and sympathetic every time she saw someone die in front of her, she would be the next one to die.

At that time, probably no one would feel sad, heartbroken, painful, or sympathetic for me.

As for that extra sense of excitement, it was just the result of adrenaline surging, it was normal, that’s how it was.

I even feed cats; aren’t those all strong evidence of my mental health?

Lu Mingqiu: …

Lu Mingqiu: “It seems like you have a good understanding of yourself, there’s no problem, let’s go do the ability test next.”

What do you do when a psychopath says she’s normal? —Go along with her.

If everyone treats her as a normal person, she will try harder to pretend to be a normal person.

Like a ghost that hasn’t been exposed, it blends in with the crowd, only doing what people should do, if you expose its true face, it will immediately go on a rampage.

The ability test was more complex, first shooting, then fighting, and then blood was drawn for testing, to see if she had any hidden diseases, to see the state of her various organs.

While Yan Xianchuan was shooting wildly with a gun by herself, the doctor found Lu Mingqiu with the lab report.

“The DNA comparison results show that it’s the same person.”

Lu Mingqiu nodded, “Destroy the report, don’t let anyone find out.”

It wasn’t a split personality, it wasn’t someone else replacing her, the amnesia was becoming more and more believable.

So Yan Xianchuan had always been a psychopath who pretended to be useless, only revealing her true face after she lost her memory?

Lu Mingqiu’s expression was strange, she didn’t know how to react for a moment.

Until the doctor relayed a message, the machine used to measure strength had broken down.

Lu Mingqiu: ?

Yan Xianchuan was standing in front of a pile of parts, her expression was calm, and there was a hint of innocence, “It was the old man who told me to use all my strength.”

What does that mean? Lu Mingqiu looked at the doctor, the doctor’s mouth was wide open, his eyes were also wide open, his wrinkles were all smoothed out, “This is, this is a 3S level measuring device! It overloaded and exploded, do you know what that means! It’s never happened before, this has never happened before, its a 3S!”

“Doctor, calm down.” Lu Mingqiu said.

“Sorry.” The doctor took several deep breaths, “But it really… okay, never mind.”

“Her strength has already exceeded the 3S level, the highest peak of human strength on record, was General Xavier two hundred years ago, he was 2S.”

“This means she could stop a car traveling at full speed with her bare hands. Besides her excessive strength, look,” the doctor took out a long, rectangular knife handle from the inside pocket of his clothes, pressed the spring on the back, the blade popped out, he picked up the knife and slashed Yan Xianchuan’s arm, it was completely unharmed, “Ordinary cold weapons won’t cause her any harm.”

“Of course, of course, I know that most mechanical prosthetics can do the same thing now, but she’s a pure human body, she hasn’t been modified in any way. Yellow Canary, do you understand?”

”She might be a strength-type psionic, I need to do another related test”.

Lu Mingqiu was silent. The mental fluctuations of psionics are completely different from ordinary people, one is a stream, the other is a waterfall, it’s not just a matter of how much mental power they have, psionics’ minds are more active, more violent, they are completely different types.

But Yan Xianchuan’s mental power felt like an ordinary person.

“No need to test.” I was afraid that the results wouldn’t be what the doctor wanted, this matter couldn’t be explained, and the fewer people who knew the secret, the better, this was also for the doctor’s safety.

“Just register her directly.”

The doctor walked out of the room, Yan Xianchuan looked over, “I didn’t know I was a psionic.”

Lu Mingqiu said with a normal expression, “Because you have amnesia.”

What a perfect answer, I can’t refute it.

Yan Xianchuan: “Is Yellow Canary your code name?”

Lu Mingqiu said, “Yes, you should also think of a code name for yourself.”

Code name, code name…

“Polite Biscuit.”

Meeting the other party’s sudden surprised gaze, my eyes become a little complex, “Because I’m very polite, and I like to eat biscuits.”

I could also think of some others, but this was the first thing that came to my mind just now.

It was like a label, a destiny, anyway, I was used to it.

There was no welcoming ceremony or anything like that, Yan Xianchuan went home with Lu Mingqiu.

“I’m going to the film festival awards ceremony tomorrow.” She said on the way back.

“Okay.” Yan Xianchuan turned her head to look at the stray dogs on the side of the road during the red light.

“You’re going with me too.” Lu Mingqiu said, “Your primary task is to protect my personal safety.”

“Close protection?”

“That’s right, the kind that never leaves my side.”

“Is your work usually dangerous?” Yan Xianchuan was puzzled.

“Many fans send gifts, you need to check if there are any listening devices, cameras, or micro-bombs inside, and some fans want autographs, you need to be wary of those who might be particularly radical and cause me harm.” Lu Mingqiu said in a matter-of-fact tone.

What a fragmented life.

Lu Mingqiu insisted on continuing her work as an actress, it definitely wasn’t for money, nor was it for fame and fortune.

She was from the Bolovov family, these things that ordinary people couldn’t get in a lifetime were placed in her hands at birth.

“Are there any suspicious people in the entertainment industry?” Yan Xianchuan said, “Otherwise, I can’t figure out why you wouldn’t quit.”

“The people in the entertainment industry are all omegas, they’re not as powerful as you think.” Lu Mingqiu said, “And I have other reasons to stay here.”

“Ah? Is there something special about omegas? I remember you are one too.”

Lu Mingqiu smiled, it wasn’t a smile of relief, nor was it a smile of joy, it was a mocking smile, “Yes, I am.”

Yan Xianchuan’s clever brain told her that she should change the subject, “Speaking of which, why did you marry me? After all, my reputation isn’t very good, and you’re so good.”

“An omega who can’t bear children naturally loses value. And the Bolovov family doesn’t lack facades, the attention brought by the actress’s identity is nothing to them.” Meeting the other party’s slightly bewildered gaze, Lu Mingqiu said, “I removed my glands.”

Yan Xianchuan took two seconds to recall the meaning of this term.

All three different types of ABO have glands, but only A and O release pheromones through their glands, compared to betas, O’s children are more beautiful and have higher IQs.

Before the Great Purge, omegas were often the appendages of alphas, their spoils of war. Now it seems like nothing has changed, they still marry people with more ability, more power and status, even more specifically – third-class citizens and above.

Yan Xianchuan had never smelled the other party’s pheromones, she had almost forgotten about it, forgotten that the two of them looked the same, but were actually two different genders.

After all, no one in this society doesn’t spray suppressants, the differences between ABO are not obvious, there are no obvious characteristics like height, weight, or fatness.

Removing the glands would not only affect fertility, but also lead to a series of problems such as hormonal imbalance, losing an organ out of thin air, it would be a miracle if the body didn’t have problems.

Slow-release agents were used to treat it.

An omega, in the Bolovov family, was a beautiful bargaining chip, a pawn in a transaction, an object that could be given away or exchanged at will, not a living person.

After learning that Lu Mingqiu’s glands were damaged and she couldn’t bear children, she was naturally abandoned by her family, squeezed dry of her last bit of value, and stuffed into the hands of Yan Xianchuan, who was also a family waste.

The law stipulated that omegas had to marry when they reached the marriageable age, it was a win-win situation.

“Wow.” Yan Xianchuan exclaimed sincerely, “That’s amazing, very brave, very excellent, you’re truly something else.”

“Has anyone ever said that your way of complimenting people sounds like an elementary school student reading a textbook?” Lu Mingqiu paused, a little tongue-tied.

“No, I haven’t complimented anyone.” Yan Xianchuan answered truthfully.

“What about this, wow! That’s amazing.”

Lu Mingqiu: “It’s just okay.”

Yan Xianchuan: “That’s awesome!”

Lu Mingqiu: “…”

The film festival was uneventful. Lu Mingqiu, as an award presenter, went up and presented an award, the rest of the time she sat in the audience, maintaining a perfect, gentle smile throughout.

Yan Xianchuan thought she could go on that world record show, just challenge the longest time a person can maintain a smile, she would definitely win the championship.

Omegas’ appearances were indeed more excellent than others, it was unknown whether it was because they loved to dress up, which made them exceptionally beautiful, or because they were privileged, so they loved to dress up.

Probably both.

But Lu Mingqiu was still the most dazzling one among them, her temperament, her appearance, her every move, was the best interpretation of the word perfect.

Yan Xianchuan accompanied her to the film festival, their seats were next to each other, attracting many people to look at them and whisper.

Because no A would do this, let alone let their O continue their career, they even came to the scene in person to accompany her.

It was rarer than a green sun hanging in the sky.

Everyone was secretly looking at her, as if she were some kind of endangered species about to go extinct.

The film festival ended without a hitch, Yan Xianchuan also got a new experience – walking the red carpet.

This ceremony, which had been around for countless years, was still popular today.

The two of them were sent home by Su Hong, and they also received good news.

From Poison Sting’s memories, they found a contact person for the Holy Healing Church, as well as a small stronghold.

They didn’t know the identity of the Masked Man, the contact person was a black market prosthetic doctor, Poison Sting had also contacted the Holy Healing Church through him.

The stronghold was on Kuande Street, a bar called Orange.

Poison Sting’s communication device was given to Mirror, who disguised it and tried to deceive the other party.

Mirror had already contacted the Masked Man, but she didn’t get a response.

Lu Mingqiu thought for a moment and said, “Tonight, you go find that prosthetic doctor, I’ll be nearby to provide support, if Poison Sting has been abandoned, send a signal immediately.”
