"And there you have it, folks! Another chapter conquered...or at least, not completely butchered. Please forgive any egregious errors; I blame the coffee (or lack thereof).

The next morning, after breakfast, Yan Xianchuan planned to leave the hospital. She had no fondness for this place.

The Yan family was the ruler of Futai City, controlling the economic lifeline of the entire city. As one of the chaebols controlling weapons and munitions, they had no shortage of money.

And she, the disgrace who was kicked out of the family and brought shame to the family, still received tens of millions of credit points every month.

For other members, this was a pittance, not even a fraction of the dividends they received every month.

But an ordinary person’s basic monthly salary was only three to five thousand credit points.

A skilled bounty hunter, with a task exceeding five figures, was a rare big deal.

Yan Xianchuan had no interest in pleasure, and she could endure hardship, but having money was always better than not having it.

Before going to bed last night, she had browsed the skynet for a long time, learning a lot of new knowledge, at least she wasn’t completely in the dark.

The one who had spoken in her mind was the smart AI, called D. Everyone in this world had one, or rather, everyone had one in their brain.

Everyone had a receiver implanted in their brain, with two ports behind their ears, where they could insert various chips. If you put in a cooking chip, you would be a master chef, if you put in a martial arts chip, you would be a fighting expert.

Different chips have different specifications and content, and their abilities are also different.

Some people prefer the state of natural humans, they will cover the ports with a layer of simulated skin, which can be opened with a press, even if they change prosthetics, they will change to more expensive simulated prosthetics.

Yan Xianchuan had a layer of simulated skin on the ports behind her ears. Her body was also a native body that had not been modified.

Not only her, but most of the first-class citizens had native body structures, few people made large-scale modifications.

As upper-class people, they naturally had to be different from the lower-class people, they had to be superior.

They encouraged the public to replace their prosthetics, supporting diversity, with advertisements everywhere, while at the same time promoting the natural body form as the highest level of beauty.

How to make money while standing still, the chaebol companies have figured it out.

The Yan family had a dedicated residence in Evergreen City, but with her current awkward status, it was better not to go, as it was troublesome.

The current housing prices were cheap, each floor was built very high, as if they wanted to pierce the clouds. There were seventy or eighty floors above ground, and twenty or thirty floors below ground, plus there weren’t that many people, there were plenty of empty houses.

As long as you spend tens of thousands of credit points, you can rent a place for a long time.

Yan Xianchuan chose a residential building not too far from the commercial street, bought one floor, and finally had a place to stay.

The house was already furnished, with a minimalist and flamboyant sense of technology. The tall plants in the corner had blue-green leaves, and when your hand brushed past them, they would flash due to the disturbed electric field.

A pot of projected plants that didn’t breathe.

Yan Xianchuan wouldn’t call this place home, it was just a place to sleep and rest.

She threw herself into the bed, feeling extremely tired.

This fatigue was not from physical exertion, her body was healthy, strong, she could lift a car with her bare hands, but her spirit was like a wanderer about to drown in a thorny swamp, her hand grabbing a thorny vine, her blood was about to run out, she was exhausted but couldn’t see even one kind passerby who could pull her out of the near-death predicament.

She was anxious, broken, hateful, and finally only numb.

Letting go might be a relief, but reason told her, you should hold on a little longer.

So Yan Xianchuan thought, I need to cheer myself up. She was different from those who enjoyed killing, even in the most difficult environment, she tried to maintain the lowest moral bottom line of being human, rather than completely becoming a cold-blooded and cruel madman.

Therefore, she had to find something to do for herself, to get herself moving.

Yan Xianchuan’s nose and mouth sank into the soft pillow, she didn’t move, the room was as quiet as the vast universe. She could hear her own heartbeat, steady and strong, the rhythm was slow, like a never-ending engine.

She fell asleep.

She woke up in the middle of the night.

She didn’t know what she had dreamed about, but Yan Xianchuan was full of energy, as if she had taken a stimulant. Her eyes, which were usually half-closed, were wide open. She quickly washed her face and took the elevator downstairs to experience the city’s vibrant nightlife.

Not to mention, the people on the street were dressed in a way that could be described as bold and avant-garde.

All sorts of colors appeared randomly, not limited to one style, nor to one type. Some people were wrapped up from head to toe, while others were wearing only a few pieces of cloth that barely covered their bodies. No one cast a strange look, everyone was used to it.

Yan Xianchuan walked into the crowd, as natural as a drop of water merging into the sea.

The local customs were obviously open, almost everyone had a weapon on their waist, some were guns, some were daggers. As she passed two couples kissing in the street, three drunkards lying on the side of the road, and four people fighting in an alley, her understanding of the degree of openness went up a notch.

It was now one in the morning, and there was no sign of the people on the street decreasing, on the contrary, it was even more lively.

After Yan Xianchuan refused the fifth person who tried to sell her something and was told she didn’t know what was good for her, she finally made a purchase – a skewer of grilled squid from a street vendor.

A skewer of squid, it smelled delicious, but it cost fifty credit points, no wonder no one was queuing up.

“Hey!”

Yan Xianchuan looked over at the sound, a short-haired man in a dark green jacket leaning against a graffiti wall, raised his chin at her, “Want some excitement? I have some new goods here!”

Yan Xianchuan walked closer, “Of what?”

The green jacket lowered his voice mysteriously, “I can tell you’re different from the others, you’ll definitely like this stuff.”

“You know about the most famous thing that happened a while back, right? First-hand, fresh, this is a work by Master Victor! Just finished.”

His mechanical prosthetic eye shone even in the dark.

Yan Xianchuan: “How much?”

The green jacket held up two fingers, with a look of you’re getting a great deal, “Just twenty thousand.”

Yan Xianchuan: “Goodbye.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she turned and left.

“Hey, hey, hey! Don’t go!” The green jacket hurriedly reached out to stop her, “We were talking nicely, why are you leaving?”

“You think it’s expensive, we can talk about it, right?”

Yan Xianchuan raised an eyebrow, “Do I look like a sucker?”

In a place where the average salary is three to five thousand, you ask for twenty thousand right off the bat, you’re trying to rob me.

“How could I?” The green jacket chuckled, “I make the offer, you counter-offer, that’s what we call a deal, right?”

“The price is a bit high, so, let’s say a 40% discount, eight thousand! I’m not lying to you, Master’s work, guaranteed value for money.”

“Okay.” Yan Xianchuan reached out, “I’ll take it.”

“Our rule is to pay first, then get the goods.” The green jacket licked his lips, his lip stud reflecting the light, “How about adding a friend? I have a lot of first-hand sources, if you want more Black Dreams, you can’t go wrong with me.”

“Okay.” Yan Xianchuan said.

The green jacket stared at her, his eyes never blinking, after two seconds, he scratched his head, “Your system directly rejected my application.”

At the same time, Yan Xianchuan received a reminder from her smart AI D: “You just had a friend request from a fourth-class citizen, which has been rejected for you.”

She forgot about the level restrictions. Yan Xianchuan let the system agree to the application and transferred the money.

“My name is Jeris, my friends call me Jay.” The green jacket took a small box out of his jacket pocket and threw it over, “Remember to find me if you need anything.”

The black flat box contained a chip, Yan Xianchuan put it in her pocket and continued walking aimlessly down the street.

Yan Xianchuan: 【D, what is Black Dream?】

D: 【An illegal virtual dream that is not authorized by New Collection Company, recorded privately and used for profit. These virtual dreams are mostly filled with blood, violence, pornography, etc.】

She knew about virtual dreams, a kind of super virtual reality technology that could completely recreate a recorded experience. Although you couldn’t move freely, you could experience all the sensory states of the person who recorded it, experiencing their joys, sorrows, anger, and fears.

It was called a dream that was both fake and real.

Perhaps, this could help her find some excitement?

Thinking about this, Yan Xianchuan turned around and walked back, intending to see if this Black Dream was as exciting as the man said.

Inserting the chip into her virtual dream glasses, Yan Xianchuan lay down on the bed, put on the glasses, and with a daze, the scene in front of her changed.

Two people were fighting in a ring surrounded by iron nets, cheers like waves crashing against her eardrums, “she” raised her hands, shouting, ” you’re a waste!”

Blood surged through her veins, her heart raced with excitement, which masked a deeper, secret longing beneath the surface.

Yan Xianchuan heard her own heavy breathing, someone patted “her” on the shoulder, “Bi Chang,it’s time to go.”

“Okay, I’m coming.”

“She” spoke, pushing through the crowd, the next moment, “she” and several people got out of the car, “Winnie, did you control the surveillance?”

“Almost… done!” A female voice sounded in her mind, “Now!”

“Go!”

“She” picked up her gun, adrenaline surged, the joy of killing grew in her bones, pushing out a series of exaggerated laughter, “Kill those bastards!”

Gunshots were as dense as thunder, screams and explosions filled the entire building, blood and limbs flew everywhere, smoke and stench filled her nostrils, this was the smell of killing.

“She” reaped one life after another, like a reaper walking among humans.

This should have been the highlight of this virtual dream, but Yan Xianchuan only felt bored and annoyed.

That’s it? Killing, fighting, she couldn’t feel any excitement at all, even though she was fully experiencing the other person’s five senses, for her, it was like being separated by a layer of glass, unable to empathize.

A dish that you have tasted hundreds of times, even if your tongue clearly tells you that its taste is the same as always, but psychologically you will still feel disgusted.

The progress bar was still halfway through, but the people were all killed, was there something else later?

Just as Yan Xianchuan was hesitating, the scene changed, a mature woman in sexy clothes walked over, her black jacket open, revealing the halter top underneath.

She sat down, her voice hoarse and wild, “How did you get so hurt?”

“This can make you happy.”

“She” snorted, raised her hand, touched the other person’s thigh, and leaned her head over.

Yan Xianchuan immediately exited the virtual dream, took a few large steps to the bathroom, turned on the faucet and washed her hands.

She never expected the second half of the virtual dream to be this kind of content, when she realized something was wrong, her fingertips had already touched the other person’s body.

Through the thin fabric, the warm temperature was particularly obvious.

Bad luck! Such bad luck!

Yan Xianchuan washed her hands eight times before she finally stopped, her face gloomy as she walked out, picked up the virtual dream glasses on the bed, snapped them in two, and threw them directly into the trash can.

After such an accident, she really had no interest in sleeping, the sky was just beginning to lighten, and because she hadn’t eaten dinner, her stomach was also clamoring, why sleep?

Yan Xianchuan asked her smart AI D. to order breakfast for her, she didn’t specify, just said anything, the things delivered were naturally the original owner’s taste.

Yan Xianchuan stared at the egg pancake in front of her, closing her eyes.

【Order another one, no eggs, no spicy, no Western food, no fatty meat】

After another ten minutes, several small dishes and white porridge were delivered together. She had just managed to get the breakfast into her mouth when a message suddenly popped up.

A person with the note “Father” sent a message.

【The family has arranged a marriage partner for you, it’s someone from the Bolovov family, it’s already registered, no need to hold a wedding, our Yan family can’t afford to lose face.】

Yan Xianchuan: ?

She read the message again, it turned out that even for something like marriage, the person involved could be the last to know?
