"And there you have it, folks! Another chapter conquered...or at least, not completely butchered. Please forgive any egregious errors; I blame the coffee (or lack thereof).

Several people came up in groups of two or three, taking away some of the small trinkets that Victor was carrying. They were gifts everyone had given him for his birthday at the beginning of the year.

“Disperse.” Lu Mingqiu said, “The ban is lifted, be careful when you go back.”

The crowd filed out, leaving only the two of them.

“I don’t regret it, I don’t regret it…” Victor muttered softly, as if he were hypnotizing himself.

You’re already regretting it. Lu Mingqiu said softly.

Victor’s voice stopped, his expression blank, he looked up, meeting Yellow Canary’s compassionate eyes, and he didn’t know anything anymore.

Lu Mingqiu walked out without looking back, the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground came from behind.

“Take care of it,” she said to the guard.

As the sky began to lighten, Lu Mingqiu returned to her residence. During the interrogation, she had been observing the apartment’s heat sensors and monitoring the network, the person in the guest room hadn’t shown any unusual behavior.

Lu Mingqiu had never let her guard down against this marriage partner, she had even arranged for Black to conduct another data search long ago.

And then she found something incredible.

To Black, the modified data of ordinary hackers was as jarringly out of place as plastic mannequins pretending to be people walking down the street.

He restored the external surveillance and saw Yan Xianchuan and another person named Tan Yiyuan invading the mall, and finally being taken away by the medical team.

And the small gang that had been entrenched here had disappeared after that day.

Lu Mingqiu wouldn’t believe that she had gone to the mall to shop.

This was a hidden bomb. Lu Mingqiu didn’t know what caused her change, whether it was good or bad for her, whether it would have an impact.

Or maybe, Yan Xianchuan had already been replaced, she was an undercover agent sent by another organization.

But the possibility was too remote. No one knew her true identity, and no one would deploy such a poorly disguised undercover agent.

Yan Xianchuan hadn’t even bothered to hide her unusual changes, was she confident or extremely stupid?

There were no undercover agents this unprofessional.

After careful consideration, Lu Mingqiu decided to take things as they came and adapt to the situation. She would keep Yan Xianchuan by her side to observe, using herself as bait, no matter what the other party’s background was, as long as they had ulterior motives, they would eventually reveal their true colors.

Psionic abilities and martial arts were her confidence, besides, many of the inconspicuous little things on her body were deadly weapons.

After injecting the slow-release medicine and a small amount of painkillers, she slept for a few hours, Lu Mingqiu got up to eat breakfast and lunch, while waiting for the food to be delivered in the living room, Yan Xianchuan happened to come out of the bedroom and go to the refrigerator to get a drink.

Lu Mingqiu yawned slightly.

“Didn’t you sleep well last night?” Yan Xianchuan said, holding a sparkling water, “You look like you haven’t gotten enough sleep.”

I didn’t go out for a night of nightlife.

Yan Xianchuan nodded, “It’s pretty good, the night view here is very beautiful, it feels like you can see all the mountains in the world.”

—She also didn’t jump from the 99th floor.

“That’s good.”

The doorbell rang, Lu Mingqiu got up from the sofa, “My breakfast is here, have you eaten?”

“I have.” Yan Xianchuan said, turning around and going upstairs, she was afraid that if she stayed a little longer, the other party would enthusiastically invite her to eat together.

They probably weren’t that close yet.

Yan Xianchuan considered Lu Mingqiu a good person, but had no desire to befriend her. She had to revise her previous assessment; Lu Mingqiu was anything but fragile.

The projection advertisements outside the window were running day and night, vehicles flowed like rivers, this morning looked no different from all the previous mornings, everyone was repeating what they had done yesterday, going to work, living their lives.

Poison Sting’s lingering fear made him have no desire to soak in the bar as usual.

He returned to his safe house, but he felt restless, he took the initiative to contact the Holy Healing Church’s contact person.

“You didn’t tell me that you had other people in place!” He reflexively lowered his voice and questioned.

“We don’t need to report everything to you.” The person on the other side was wearing a white smiling mask, his voice was like thick velvet chocolate sauce, sweet and smooth, “Besides, if he hadn’t been cannon fodder, would you have been let go so easily?”

Poison Sting’s expression changed, he actually hadn’t expected Victor to betray the organization, after all, the other party was more humane, while he himself, a desperado, had only joined Starfire because he was wanted by the chaebols, he had no choice but to find a shelter.

He had only been in Starfire for a few months, he didn’t have any deep feelings for it, the close-knit atmosphere within the organization made him feel uncomfortable, he had no psychological burden at all in betraying his comrades for the sake of becoming stronger.

“One more time, you have to give me the potion, and you have to help me find a way to escape from Starfire.” Poison Sting said viciously.

“That’s not part of the agreement.” The white mask’s voice was soft, “Helping you escape from Starfire is a different price.”

“What are you saying!” Poison Sting slammed his fist on the table, “You’re actually going back on your word!”

“There was never such a clause in the terms we agreed on, was there?” The white mask tilted his head, “Think carefully.”

“This is the rule of the underworld!” Poison Sting shouted.

The white mask shook a finger, “We’re not like those rabble, we don’t have such rules, if you want to work for the Church, you have to follow the Church’s rules.”

He waited for a while, then continued, “Have you thought it over?”

“I’ve thought it over.” Poison Sting sat back in his chair, feeling aggrieved, he squeezed out a sentence from between his teeth, “Twice.”

Without the Church’s help, he couldn’t escape from Starfire on his own, the mental imprint in his brain was a potential poison, it would eventually kill him.

“A wise choice.” The white mask clapped twice, “This is the second thing, we need you to provide Black’s coordinates.”

Poison Sting suddenly raised his head, his expression stunned, “You’re going to deal with Black?!

“Don’t ask questions you shouldn’t, Mr. Poison Sting.” The white mask said this and hung up the communication.

The projection disappeared, Poison Sting kicked an empty wine bottle on the ground, the refreshing blue logo hit the wall, with a bang, it fell to the ground and bounced twice.

“Damn it, I’ve been tricked.”

Poison Sting spat, he could only go down this road, there was no turning back.

Black, Black… where could he possibly be?

The only data manipulation psionic in the organization, in the network, he was like the best artificial intelligence, almost omnipotent.

Black never showed up in public, he had only heard the other party’s voice through the headset, even during this full staff review, Black didn’t participate.

He only knew what the other party looked like because White often went out, they were twins, they looked the same.

Psionics usually enter federal work, or like him, they have a place in various terrorist organizations.

Psionics, who are rare outside, are not rare in Starfire, there are many who are more powerful and excellent than him, he is just an ordinary member.

People like Black must be under heavy protection, and he couldn’t reach the core level, how could he possibly know about the other party!

But if he couldn’t complete the Church’s mission, the other party might expose his matter to Starfire, after all, they had plenty of spies like him.

Victor was sacrificed, he probably didn’t even know that the Church had deliberately pushed him out to be a scapegoat.

He might be the next one!

Working for the Church was like playing with fire, he had to hurry up, get the psionic enhancement potion, and then flee as soon as possible.
