"And there you have it, folks! Another chapter conquered...or at least, not completely butchered. Please forgive any egregious errors; I blame the coffee (or lack thereof).

After receiving his orders, Yan Xun Gui didn’t rest. He took two trusted aides and boarded an airship, flying to the neighboring city.

He knew in his heart that Fifth Uncle was most likely not a member of the Resistance. This Fifth Uncle was mediocre in terms of methods and scheming. He had a little bit of cleverness, which he used to judge the situation. He was good at taking sides, which was how he survived the struggle for the head of the family in the previous generation.

Fifth Uncle had clung to his father’s leg and followed him, picking up scraps. He was living a very comfortable life.

When choosing a marriage partner for Yan Xianchuan, Fifth Uncle received news from the Polov family and immediately thought that Lu Mingqiu would be a perfect match for her.

Yan Xianchuan, no matter how bad she was, was still a member of the Yan family. Her chosen spouse absolutely couldn’t be someone from a low-ranking family. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be worthy of the Yan family’s status.

Lu Mingqiu had excellent external conditions, and the Polov family was also one of the top tycoons. If she hadn’t been infertile, Yan Xianchuan wouldn’t have been able to get such a beauty.

Now that the beauty was unusable, she had become second-rate goods. It was perfect to match her with Yan Xianchuan.

Fifth Uncle was good at managing things. He knew that the head of the family didn’t want to spend much time on this matter, so he eagerly went to take care of it.

When working for Yan Wen, having good judgment was more important than being smart.

His suggestion was good. Yan Wen agreed. He told the old head of the Polov family, and the latter had no reason to refuse.

Just like that, Lu Mingqiu was packaged and sent to Yan Xianchuan.

Fifth Uncle had gained all his status and wealth through Yan Wen. He wouldn’t join the Resistance and rebel against his own class.

But that didn’t mean he wouldn’t be used by the Resistance.

Especially after knowing that they also had a mental ability user.

It was too easy for a mental ability user to control others to do things.

Fifth Uncle’s suggestion, looking back now, might have been heavily influenced by Lu Mingqiu. It didn’t matter if he was innocent or forced.

The result was that he had let the wolf into the house, causing losses to the Yan family, allowing such a dangerous person to stay in the family for so long.

What if Lu Mingqiu wanted to kill someone? How many opportunities would she have to do it? If an A-level ability user didn’t want to protect herself, but only wanted to kill, the Yan family’s upper echelon would probably all be dead.

So Fifth Uncle had to pay the price.

The price was his own life.

Yan Xun Gui was the head of the family’s trusted confidant. If he was looking for someone, it must be for something important.

Fifth Uncle received the message and immediately went out to greet him. The airship landed on the rooftop. He was surrounded by several bodyguards, his belly protruding. When he saw his nephew, he quickly forced a friendly smile, “Xun Gui, why did you come…”

He had only said half of his sentence when the rest suddenly got stuck in his throat.

Yan Xun Gui had just gotten off the airship. He didn’t want to waste any words. He directly said, “Break your own neck.”

Fifth Uncle and the bodyguards beside him raised their hands together, tightly squeezing their own necks. Their faces instantly turned purple, their eyes bulged and bloodshot. They were clearly suffocating.

The bodyguards were strong. They twisted their own necks in one go. Only Fifth Uncle, who had been pampered and didn’t have the strength, choked himself unconscious, but he didn’t succeed.

Seeing this, Yan Xun Gui’s subordinates kindly walked over and quickly ended his painful ordeal.

“Clear everyone out, leave no one alive.”

His subordinates responded and went downstairs from the rooftop. They didn’t need him to tell them individually. They started their familiar cleaning work.

They were very experienced in doing this. They wouldn’t hesitate or waver because the people they were killing were also of Yan family blood.

These people were well-trained and only obeyed Yan Xun Gui’s orders. The last family to be eradicated was the Lin family in Dingyang City, the foolish family that had tried to use their youngest daughter to climb the Yan family and snatch food from the tiger’s mouth.

Fifth Uncle’s branch, his spouse, his lovers, his offspring, his trusted subordinates, all had to be killed.

Yan Xun Gui slowly went downstairs and came to his home.

It wasn’t a whole building that belonged to them. Fifth Uncle only occupied the top few floors.

His father didn’t like people who were too flamboyant, he didn’t like people who showed their greed. So he had always done a good job, he was cautious and careful.

The furnishings in the house were still luxurious, but Yan Xun Gui wasn’t shocked when he saw them. He had seen too many good things like this.

Yan Xun Gui sat on the sofa, waiting for his subordinates to finish the job.

The people in Yuecheng weren’t idle either. Although they couldn’t find the two people, Yan Wen wasn’t a magnanimous person. He wouldn’t just endure it after being wronged.

The city-wide terrorist attack hadn’t been long ago. Yan Wen, under the guise of strengthening security, increased the number of patrols. He secretly sent out many people to search for traces of the Resistance.

There must be a base here. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible for their accomplices to pick them up so quickly. After all, from the start of the attack to the two of them escaping, it didn’t take more than ten minutes. It was a pure emergency.

Just thinking about the Resistance hiding in Yuecheng was like having rats in his house. It made him uncomfortable.

Moreover, ordinary rats only stole food. These rats were out to kill.

The public search was just a smokescreen. The secret personnel were the real main force.

Various undercover agents and pawns were activated. They began to investigate the surrounding people and forces one by one. It was like searching for a needle in a haystack, but there were so many nets. Anything suspicious had to be reported. Even if a thousand were fake, they would eventually find one that was real.

“The base’s existence has been exposed. We must evacuate.” After returning to the base, Lu Mingqiu gave herself an injection to replenish her energy. Then she gathered all the members.

“We can’t hide for long under this kind of search.”

The Resistance members weren’t all invisible people. Many of them had their own public jobs, but there were always some inconsistencies in their movements.

A person with secrets, no matter how careful they were, would always reveal their tracks.

“Take all the data, don’t take any equipment. Destroy it on the spot. Those who are operating outside, find a chance to evacuate. Do it as soon as possible, no matter what method you use.”

Lu Mingqiu was in charge. What she said was the highest order. The situation was urgent. She had been exposed, her identity was no longer safe, and the base in Yuecheng was also under threat. They had to leave.

The Yan family’s influence here was too great. The few people they had under them were no match for them.

Everyone sprang into action, destroying data and doing cleanup work.

The Resistance had a spray that was specifically used to dissolve fingerprints and other genetic information. After everyone evacuated, the base would activate its cleaning and self-destruction mode.

They would leave no information for the enemy.

Their escape had been dramatic, but injury-free. Lu Mingqiu was exhausted from overusing her abilities, but felt much better after a dose of nutrient solution. The scrapes on her body were minor.

Yan Xianchuan had protected her well.

As for Yan Xianchuan, her skin was tough; she hadn’t even broken the skin. She’d crashed through the imperial city gate, resulting in bruises on her arms and back.

The gate was as thick as a palm. It was only bruised after being crashed through. It wasn’t even a minor injury. It was more exaggerated than a human tyrannosaurus rex.

At this moment, this human tyrannosaurus rex was following behind her lover, like a little tail, walking around the research room with her, watching her destroy data.

She didn’t have any skills related to computers, playing games didn’t count.

She didn’t need to do any smashing work either. After the base self-destructed, everything inside would be broken and shattered. She didn’t need to do any work in advance.

So she had nothing to do.

Lu Mingqiu’s face wasn’t rosy. There was some sweat on her temples. Her eyes were focused on the operating screen. Her hands were flying, tapping on it, so fast that they were almost blurry.

Black was helping with data transfer and backup, which saved a lot of time. She was only responsible for clearing the local data.

Even so, it was a big project.

Actually, there was a bigger crisis that needed to be dealt with than destroying data. That was the fact that her identity had been exposed.

Lu Mingqiu’s identity had been discovered by the Yan family. She was a member of the Resistance. So, the entertainment company she controlled was probably not clean either. They would rather kill a thousand by mistake than let one go.

She had cultivated this identity for too long. It was almost all her life’s work. Now that it had been discovered, everything had to stop.

All her years of disguise had almost been in vain.

The danger that came with it was real.

Fortunately, she and Yan Xianchuan never used their real faces when they were at the base. No one would put her together with the movie star.

In Lu Mingqiu’s mind, the probability of Yan Wen exposing this matter was only 50%.

Everyone knew that she and Yan Xianchuan were a couple, and the latter was a member of the Yan family.

The Yan family had a member of the Resistance. It wouldn’t be good for the family’s reputation. Yan Wen was very protective of his image. He might not do this.

He wanted to get rid of the two of them. He didn’t need to rely on public opinion.

This was why Lu Mingqiu had prioritized helping the base evacuate quickly. As for the company, she had already sent a message to the relevant members to hide themselves.

There was a church in Nanjin City. Although it was still under reconstruction, there wouldn’t be a shortage of church members. But the base hadn’t been exposed yet. The Yan family couldn’t do much in Nanjin City. They couldn’t search for people as freely as they did in Yuecheng. The probability of them escaping was still very high.

The members of the branch stationed in Nanjin City could also help them.

If you had to say what the most useful device in the Resistance was, it wasn’t anything else, but the ear studs that changed appearances.

Because of this, each member had many different identities they could switch to. They could even temporarily impersonate others.

The data was finally destroyed. The church members hadn’t investigated here yet. They wanted to leave no stone unturned, so they wouldn’t be too fast.

Everyone at the base gathered together and followed Lu Mingqiu to the kitchen of the cafeteria. They opened an iron door and walked forward. The path became narrower and narrower. The passage could only accommodate two people walking side by side.

They were jogging forward. No one spoke. Their expressions were serious. This was a crucial moment of life and death.

They ran underground for about half an hour before they reached the end of the passage. There was a small ladder.

Lu Mingqiu wanted to go up first, but Yan Xianchuan pulled her back. Of course, she had to be the one to scout ahead.

The others stepped back. She pushed open the cover at the top and looked out. It was a warehouse. There were several vans parked inside. There was some dirt and dust on the ground. A person was guarding it, his face was anxious.

When he saw Yan Xianchuan, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief. He lowered his voice and said, “Come up quickly.”

He was also a member of the Resistance. The backup evacuation identity they were using was a group of members of a vagrant family.

Vagrant families mostly made a living by scavenging. Some of them also took bounty missions, so they often drove between cities. Of course, some of them would choose to settle down in one place.

They left using the identity of vagrants. There was nothing suspicious about it. There were too many vagrant families. They weren’t officially registered. A family would disappear and a new one would appear at any time.

They were the invisible people of the world.

There were many things in the van that fit the identity of scavengers, like old parts and so on.

They changed their clothes and faces, got in the van, and left Yuecheng in broad daylight.
