Chapter 8: University Campus

***

Regarding Yin Wenjing’s answer, everyone was stunned.

What situation was this? They had originally thought that since Yu Chuyao was so beautiful, she shouldn’t lack suitors, but it turned out she was already taken by another girl?

My goodness, so there are lesbians right beside me.

“So the two of them…” the roommate stared in astonishment as the two left, both believing and disbelieving at the same time.

“I don’t know, but that Tang Xiaorou told us herself yesterday, and Yu Chuyao didn’t deny it, so it’s probably true.”

The three fell silent, wondering if beautiful girls like her had reached the point of internal consumption.

Or perhaps after seeing too many undesirable boys, she felt it was better to like pretty girls instead?

“When interacting with her, I never noticed she had special feelings for girls,” the roommate shook her head. Truly, appearances can be deceiving.

Yu Chuyao had no idea that her departure with Tang Xiaorou would cause her roommates to think so much.

She had thought it would be better to eat together with her roommates for their first meal together.

“Is it really okay? After all, everyone just met for the first time,” Yu Chuyao asked weakly.

Tang Xiaorou shrugged, showing she didn’t care at all.

“Look, this is just a formality, there’s nothing to it really. You know you’ll be living together for at least three years, right? This is just the first meeting, there will be many opportunities to eat together in the future, you might even get sick of it.”

Hmm…

Is it really that frequent?

Tang Xiaorou didn’t care about these things anyway. She had enrolled in the same major as in her previous life, so now not only was her dormitory the same, her bed number was the same, and even her classmates and roommates were the same.

She couldn’t be more familiar with everything.

“Alright, alright, let me take you around the campus now.”

There was no rush to visit the various teaching buildings. If they just visited the leisure areas on campus, they should be able to see everything in one evening.

Since all the freshmen had arrived, everyone was curious about their new school. People like Tang Xiaorou and Yu Chuyao who were out exploring weren’t few in number, which meant that everywhere they went was crowded with people, making it impossible to find a place for private conversation.

Moreover, freshmen were easy to identify, they were carefully dressed and had curious, surprised expressions wherever they went. They were obviously freshmen.

This made Tang Xiaorou and Yu Chuyao, who weren’t wearing much makeup or dressed up, seem a bit special.

S University’s campus scenery was truly excellent, with mountains and lakes. Though the mountains weren’t particularly high, they at least looked the part. Even after dark, many people could be seen gathering on the hillsides to chat and play games.

There were also several lakes on campus, three or four of various sizes and shapes. It wasn’t clear whether they were artificially constructed or existed before the school was established.

The two walked on a path beside a small mountain, with one of the lakes nearby. Compared to the others, this one was closer to the dormitories, so a bridge had been built between the mainland and the fairly large island in the center of the lake. Two small wooden cabins were built on it, probably selling something.

“Want to go have a look?” Tang Xiaorou noticed Yu Chuyao stretching her neck to look in that direction, guessing her thoughts had already flown over there.

“Yes!” For places that looked fun like this, Yu Chuyao was eager to try.

Tang Xiaorou suddenly realized that since graduating from high school, Yu Chuyao’s personality had begun to slowly transform. From originally hiding in corners not wanting to participate in any activities or join any crowds, to now actively showing curiosity about fun things.

That was good too, at least she could feel that Yu Chuyao wasn’t hiding things from her, otherwise this transformation wouldn’t have happened.

Actually, Yu Chuyao had just become more familiar with Tang Xiaorou and had discarded the careful disguise of being a nobody. Ever since the fake hairband fell off, the seal had been broken, and she had returned to her normal personality from her previous life.

But Tang Xiaorou’s feeling was correct, Yu Chuyao had indeed opened her heart.

Walking on the bridge, Yu Chuyao examined the dark lake on both sides in the night and casually asked, “If I fell down here, I wouldn’t drown, right?”

Tang Xiaorou thought for a moment: “If it’s near the four corners, probably not. But this area is already close to the center of the lake, so it’s at least 2-3 meters deep.”

Is it that extreme? Yu Chuyao was scared and quickly moved away from the bridge railing, which was only calf-high, and moved closer to Tang Xiaorou.

“Don’t worry, even if you panic and forget how to swim, you still have me, right?”

That’s true.

The two wooden cabins in the center of the lake, upon closer inspection, turned out to be a fast food shop and a beverage house run by students. A large open area in the center had tables and a stage set up, like an entertainment venue with resident performers taking song requests.

“Want to sing a song?” Tang Xiaorou smiled, raising her hand to gesture toward Yu Chuyao.

Yu Chuyao shook her head repeatedly to refuse.

Her singing before was, well, not very good, and her roommates had even criticized it during college gatherings. Now, after transmigrating into a book as Yu Chuyao, she hadn’t really sung yet and wasn’t confident.

Of course, Tang Xiaorou was just joking. The two found an empty table in a corner and sat down.

This place normally had resident performers, but sometimes they would invite students from the audience to sing together or solo, making it a popular daily activity. Thus, there were many people, and shortly after the two sat down, people noticed them and came over to chat them up.

“Junior sister, can I sit here?”

Tang Xiaorou was puzzled. There were only two chairs at their table, so how could anyone else sit there? Were they not using their brains when trying to start a conversation?

The result was that Tang Xiaorou drove all of them away without exception.

Just as she was thinking about finding another place with Yu Chuyao, the surroundings suddenly became lively. This usually meant something big was happening on stage. Tang Xiaorou originally didn’t want to pay attention to these things, but when Yu Chuyao casually glanced over, she said in surprise, “Isn’t that Su Yingying?”

Hmm? Now she had to pay attention. This person had come to S University, which was essentially her home turf. Compared to high school, Su Yingying caused even more trouble at S University.

They saw a male student who had been standing at the standing microphone raise his hand to invite Su Yingying, dressed in a white dress, to come up and stand beside him. The two looked like a talented man and a beautiful woman, causing the surrounding students to start teasing them.

This scene made Tang Xiaorou frown, immediately remembering who this man was.

“Who is that guy?” Yu Chuyao tugged at Tang Xiaorou’s sleeve and asked softly. She felt this must be a male character related to Su Yingying in the original book. She could still remember the character description from the book details, but she needed to be told his name to confirm who he was.
