Chapter 7: What Relationship

***

The reporting time was just a few days, and by the last day’s deadline, all six people in the entire dormitory had arrived.

They all seemed to have compatible personalities, and Yu Chuyao felt that even if she didn’t go live outside with Tang Xiaorou, there wouldn’t be any problems living in the dormitory.

Although she often heard that conflicts between girls could be numerous, even reaching the exaggerated situation of “three girls and four chat groups,” if there were six people, how many possible combinations would there be?

Anyway, she hoped this situation wouldn’t occur, and also hoped she wouldn’t find herself involved in such scenarios.

“Why does our school have 10 days of military training? I checked the weather forecast and it says there won’t be any rain for a week. How are we going to endure being under the sun like that!”

“Relax, what if our training area is under the shade of trees? I heard it’s not all on the field, they’ll scatter us around many places in the school. Our school has such good greenery, surely our luck won’t be that bad.”

“And these military training clothes… they’re so ugly.”

“If only our school was like those that don’t require everyone to buy the same military training uniforms.”

These days, people were reporting every day, and each time someone came, they had to help organize the room, with barely any time to rest. They also had to handle some commonly used school procedures, such as water cards, shower cards, campus network connections, and the like.

By evening, they finally had time for all six of them to sit down together and rest.

During the reporting time, Yu Chuyao had noticed that there were about 30 people in their class, with slightly more girls, but not completely overwhelming, about a 2:1 ratio.

Calculating like this, the probability of being assigned to the same dormitory as Bai Yingxuan was quite high. Fortunately, her luck wasn’t bad.

Sitting on her bed, listening to her roommates complain about the military training that would arrive every day, Yu Chuyao thought it wasn’t that bad.

After all, before transmigrating into the book, when she had just been admitted to university, she had gone through a full two weeks, 14 days, of military training… Luckily, she had sun-resistant skin at that time, and didn’t get tanned even without sunscreen. But some boys and girls were miserable, darkening by a whole shade, and those who were already dark directly became like Judge Bao…

Ahem, now as a girl, she wasn’t sure what her situation would be, but Tang Xiaorou had placed a bunch of sunscreen items on her desk, presumably not wanting to see herself tanned after military training.

Can’t be helped, in her and Tang Xiaorou’s view, girls look better with fairer skin, and her current complexion would truly make many girls envious.

But Yu Chuyao still had some complaints about Tang Xiaorou… The stuff on the bed, why was it so garish…

Pink bed sheets and covers, embroidered with various cute patterns and lace, and specially prepared soft and cute heart-shaped pillows, anyone who didn’t know better would think it was some little girl’s princess bed.

Sister, is this how you see me? Even at home, my bed wasn’t this pink.

Forget complaining, these things were already bought and set up, and if she wanted to change, she’d have to use them for a while before saying anything.

She heard that Tang Xiaorou, thinking that many college students hang curtains on their dormitory beds, was planning to buy her a pink one to install. Just thinking about it gave Yu Chuyao a headache, and she refused, using the excuse that it wasn’t necessary at the beginning of the school year.

“Hey, Chuyao, want to go out and eat together later?”

The few people below, tired from complaining about the start of school and tomorrow’s military training, thought that since they’d been busy all day and now everyone was here, they could go out and have a meal together.

Yu Chuyao thought about it, and figured it was fine. She was hungry anyway, so she could eat and then come back to rest and sleep well.

She tidied up her hair, not needing to change clothes as she wasn’t wearing pajamas in the dormitory, just normal loose-fitting clothes she’d wear outside.

The other girls also tidied themselves up, applying makeup and changing clothes, being new to college, they naturally wanted to fix themselves up when going out, showing their beautiful and attractive side.

Hmm, this symptom would calm down after two months of 8 AM classes. Yu Chuyao noted that these girls would be immediately recognizable as freshmen once they went out.

“Huh? Chuyao, aren’t you going to put on makeup?”

Cheng Yunmeng and Yin Wenjing, who had been with Yu Chuyao for a day already, were surprised. They hadn’t seen Yu Chuyao apply makeup from waking up in the morning until now, at most just doing skincare during her morning routine.

“Oh come on, Chuyao is so pretty, she’s a beauty even without makeup, why bother?” A roommate patted her shoulder and chuckled: “I think even without makeup, Chuyao is no worse than that rich girl in our class… uh… what’s her name again?”

“Bai Yingxuan.”

“Oh, Bai Yingxuan, Chuyao isn’t inferior to her.”

That’s not an exaggeration. Information spreads quickly nowadays, and even though they just arrived at school, they already knew about the commotion Bai Yingxuan caused in the school circle yesterday, and had seen her appearance through videos and photos.

“If you ask me, Classmate Chuyao is the prettier one.”

“Exactly, she looks good without makeup, so wouldn’t she be even better than her with makeup?”

Goodness, do they really need to praise me like this? This is embarrassing… Yu Chuyao was hearing such direct compliments for the first time. Although people had discussed her in private after her true appearance was revealed in high school, at least they didn’t say it to her face.

Finally, when everyone confirmed they were ready to go out — makeup done, phones fully charged, power banks ready — with nothing left to worry about, they set off.

However, as Yu Chuyao followed them just to the stairway, she saw Tang Xiaorou coming up the stairs, approaching them.

Hmm? When Tang Xiaorou saw Yu Chuyao with a group of people, she didn’t immediately react, wondering when her little nobody had made so many friends.

Then she remembered that they were now living in a dormitory, and six people in a room would naturally all get to know each other.

The new roommates hadn’t met Tang Xiaorou yet, so they didn’t understand why Yu Chuyao, Cheng Yunmeng, and Yin Wenjing were frozen in place. How to put it? S University indeed lived up to its name, could such a beauty, who wouldn’t look out of place in a movie, be encountered so easily?

“Where are you going?”

“Going to eat.”

“Then why aren’t you eating with me?”

“Uh… well…”

The conversation between Yu Chuyao and Tang Xiaorou was as casual as family talk, leaving the other three roommates bewildered. They originally wanted to properly introduce themselves to Tang Xiaorou, but Cheng Yunmeng and Yin Wenjing tactfully pulled them away, quickly passing by the two.

“What’s going on? Didn’t we agree to eat together?”

“It’s just a meal, there will be plenty of time in the future, and we’re just going to the cafeteria, not going out.” Cheng Yunmeng explained mysteriously: “Those two have a rather special relationship~”

“What relationship? Isn’t it normal for girls to be close?”

Yin Wenjing pouted and retorted: “Is it normal if they’re in a romantic relationship?”

Huh?
