Chapter 56: A Bit Small
***
After the conversation, Tang Xiaorou felt that Yu Chuyao’s father was indeed quite impressive.
Not in terms of business acumen, but in his attitude towards his wife and daughter, and his way of handling matters.
She had never observed this in her previous life, but today’s conversation gave her some insight. She was also amazed that although Yu Chuyao’s parents’ education levels were listed as quite low on the forms, with Mr. Yu not even finishing middle school.
Yet when talking with him, the impression was completely different, and Tang Xiaorou couldn’t tell at all.
“So, young lady, if you want to be with Yaoyao, whether we agree or not, your efforts are still not enough.”
Mr. Yu’s words were very clear. At present, the two haven’t reached that stage yet, and whether they can succeed ultimately depends on whether Tang Xiaorou can move Yu Chuyao.
As parents, they won’t interfere too much.
This was good news, as this was exactly the attitude Tang Xiaorou wanted.
However, at this point she realized, wasn’t she supposed to be here to investigate if the Yu family would have any opportunities in the future? How did it turn into meeting the parents to gain their approval…
Well, it’s not too late now.
After speaking with Tang Xiaorou, Mr. Yu went to find a place to smoke and rest. This conveniently left Tang Xiaorou alone, allowing her to move freely around the house.
There weren’t many things in the living room, and Tang Xiaorou finished looking around in just a few steps. There wasn’t much worth noting, seemingly the most important thing was a family portrait of the three of them displayed on the TV cabinet.
The photo must have been taken not too long ago, as Yu Chuyao in it looked almost the same as she does now. Suddenly spotting something in the cabinet, Tang Xiaorou curiously picked it up, only to discover it was a stack of photos that had been replaced from their frames.
In them, Yu Chuyao started from when she was very small, probably from kindergarten, all the way through elementary and middle school. As she grew older, her bangs grew longer, only brushed aside for photos to show her face.
As for her parents, they hadn’t changed much, except for the traces of time left on their faces, no longer having the vitality of their twenties.
Logically speaking, Mr. Yu and Mrs. Yu couldn’t possibly get rich suddenly through some investment, they both seemed unfamiliar with such things. Even winning several million in the lottery seemed more plausible than that.
“Then the final possibility must be found through Yu Chuyao herself.” Tang Xiaorou felt this path wouldn’t work, the wool comes from the sheep, Yu Chuyao’s changes might ultimately come back to herself.
Pleasant times always pass quickly. By the time Yu Chuyao and her mother finished cleaning the kitchen, it was almost 11 PM.
“Time to rest, although school starts at 8 AM tomorrow, it’s one of the few days in the week when you can sleep in a bit longer, so cherish it,” Mrs. Yu pushed Yu Chuyao, indicating she should go take a shower soon. “Xiaorou, you go together too, it’ll be faster that way.”
Tang Xiaorou had just put down the photos when she suddenly heard this and hadn’t processed it, unconsciously agreeing.
“Ah? Okay.”
“What do you mean okay!” Yu Chuyao jumped in at this point: “The bathroom only has one shower, how can two people shower together!”
“Oh come on, didn’t mom help you shower when you were little? Why can’t two people shower together now?”
Huh? Was it like that? Yu Chuyao scratched her head. I don’t have memories from before, whatever you say goes…
“Still not okay! We’re grown up now!” Yu Chuyao quickly ran to the bathroom, afraid that Tang Xiaorou might really come in together later. Her mother would naturally bring the change of sleepwear later, so Yu Chuyao went in to shower first.
However, shortly after she went in, just as she had taken off her clothes and turned on the shower, there were several knocks at the door.
“I’m coming in~” The shower sound somewhat covered the voice from outside, but through the frosted glass, she could see Tang Xiaorou’s shadow outside the door.
Yu Chuyao was so startled she quickly ran to lock the door!
“What’s the big deal!” Although she hadn’t planned to open the door directly, being shut out like this still made Tang Xiaorou pout: “Didn’t your mom say we should shower together?”
“We’re too old for that! How can we shower together!”
It’s not that she’s afraid of others seeing her body! It’s just that she feels shy about her own body, how can she ensure she won’t have a nosebleed and faint from seeing another girl’s body!
“Are you sure you don’t want to?”
“No!”
Well then, Tang Xiaorou shrugged helplessly, she was quite looking forward to showering with Yu Chuyao hehehe.
When it was Tang Xiaorou’s turn to shower, she realized she had come to Yu Chuyao’s house quite hastily, so she hadn’t brought any change of clothes or sleepwear for after the shower.
At this point, Mrs. Yu conveniently solved her urgent need, as she found a set of light blue pajamas in the doorframe after her shower.
However, looking at the size…
“Your clothes seem a bit small,” This was the first thing Tang Xiaorou said to Yu Chuyao after coming out from the shower.
Yu Chuyao was a bit speechless, not to mention the nearly half-head height difference between them, standing together they were clearly standard version versus mini version. Not to mention Yu Chuyao’s figure was more thin and delicate.
“Especially here.” Tang Xiaorou raised her hand to her chest, adjusting the buttons of the pajamas.
“Oh my. These are already pajamas bought after Yaoyao started high school.” Mrs. Yu came over teasingly: “Didn’t expect there’d still be quite a difference compared to Xiaorou.”
Hearing this, Yu Chuyao looked down at her own chest, with its loose comfortable fit and slightly raised curve. Then looking up at Tang Xiaorou’s “towering” proportions, making the pajamas slightly tight.
Complete defeat…
They say girls change greatly at 18, shouldn’t she have reached that adult stage too, why does she still look like a child!
“Alright, alright, time to go to bed.” Mrs. Yu quickly interrupted this topic, taking both of them to Yu Chuyao’s room.
This was Tang Xiaorou’s first time entering another girl’s room… She had few female friends before, basically never reaching the point of going to their homes for meals and sleepovers. Later when pursuing Su Yingying it became even rarer, other girls saw her as an oddity and avoided her.
So she was also quite curious, with a bit of excitement.
Actually, Yu Chuyao’s room wasn’t very big, but there was barely any furniture inside, making it seem somewhat spacious.
Except for the area by the door, the remaining three corners of the room had a decent-sized single bed, a very ordinary desk without drawers, and then just a closet that could probably hang a few pieces of clothing.
Simple to the point it couldn’t be simpler, even looking a bit… shabby?
Unexpectedly, this was what Yu Chuyao’s room looked like.
However, Yu Chuyao seemed to have no complaints about her room, entering and very quickly taking off her slippers to get in bed, then immediately diving under the covers with only her small face peeking out.
“Aren’t you going to sleep?”
