Chapter 52: The Stupid Woman Goes Offline

***

Jiang Xinxin was persuaded to leave.

Not the kind of persuasion from competing with Yu Chuyao and Tang Xiaorou, but being kicked out of the campus by the school.

This was something Yu Chuyao hadn’t expected.

She hadn’t expected Jiang Xinxin would end up like this, nor had she expected this karma to come so quickly.

“Did you do this?” Yu Chuyao asked Tang Xiaorou first thing when she heard about this.

But Tang Xiaorou just shrugged, denying her assumption: “If I had such power, Su Yingying and Jiang Xinxin wouldn’t have been so low-key at school these past 2 years.”

Low-key? Yu Chuyao thought those two were as proud as peacocks with their tails spread wide open, showing no signs of being low-key at all.

“Really wasn’t you?” She still didn’t believe it, but couldn’t figure out if Tang Xiaorou actually had such power to influence the school’s decisions.

Tang Xiaorou helplessly held her forehead, patiently explaining to her: “My family is just rich, not having connections in the city’s education bureau.”

“Although my grandfather used to be the principal of No. 12 Middle School, he’s long retired, hasn’t he? The people there have been replaced several times over.”

That was true.

“Besides, although they say she’s being persuaded to leave, they haven’t actually expelled her from the school system.”

Q City No. 1 High School was a public school, and although its management of students was strict, it was still bound by various rules and regulations. Therefore, just across a school district housing complex from the school, a private school was built, headed by the vice principal of No. 1 High School.

No. 1 High School selected top students from the high school entrance exams to maintain its position in college admission rates among surrounding city schools, but for those second-tier students, this private school became an option.

As a companion school to Q City No. 1 High School, it also became a shelter for students who violated school rules and received major demerits.

Jiang Xinxin was sent there, which meant she had left the No. 1 High School campus.

After all, with the college entrance exam approaching, even if the school wanted to punish her, they tried to be as lenient as possible.

“If it weren’t for her too many mistakes, plus her poor grades, and with the college entrance exam not far away, she wouldn’t have been persuaded to transfer there.”

“I thought she got demerits because of framing me that day…” Yu Chuyao scratched her head, realizing she had overthought it.

Tang Xiaorou chuckled and flicked Yu Chuyao’s forehead: “You’re quite imaginative, your incident barely counts as anything.”

“Then what exactly did she do?”

The notice was posted on the bulletin board in the teaching building’s courtyard, but Tang Xiaorou hadn’t carefully remembered what was on it, instead recalling the “messes” she had cleaned up for Jiang Xinxin while trying to please Su Yingying.

“Hmm… let me think, she was sleeping in class during the first week of freshman year, and the grade director found 20-something novels in her drawer; then before the first semester ended, she was caught using her phone in class by the academic affairs office teacher and had it confiscated; she was caught by the duty teacher for not sleeping during night inspection; at the start of sophomore year, she was involved in forging and selling fake absence notes within two months; and then there’s the reason you were taken away last time, sneaking out of school during evening self-study and getting caught by teachers when returning.”

Yu Chuyao: …

This was like a death note, listing crimes that Yu Chuyao wouldn’t dare to even think about. Let alone having all of these accumulated on one person. If Jiang Xinxin could still stay in school despite all this, it would be really unreasonable.

“This time she was caught using her phone to read novels in class again, and given her previous mistakes, the school couldn’t tolerate it anymore,” Tang Xiaorou finished explaining the information from the notice, and also whispered a very discrete piece of news in Yu Chuyao’s ear.

“Actually, the deeper reason is that Jiang Xinxin’s grades were too poor, affecting the school’s college admission rate, so they used this excuse to send her to the private school next door to idle away her days, while they could arrange for the hardworking students there to come over.”

Wow, there was such an explanation? Yu Chuyao was shocked, if this happened in her high school, wouldn’t it be chaos?

“Don’t you remember? In our sophomore year, there was news that the school forced freshman students to sign voluntary transfer forms, saying if their poor grades affected college admissions, they would ‘voluntarily’ go to the private school next door.”

Yu Chuyao fell silent again.

The setting in this novel was truly subverting her understanding, wasn’t it? Did the original author personally experience such a high school? Or was it purely imagined to add some pressure to the plot?

She wasn’t sure, because sometimes reality could be even more inconceivable than novels.

But this meant Jiang Xinxin was offline from her and Tang Xiaorou’s perspective, right? Having changed schools, she surely wouldn’t cross a school district housing complex and walk across half of No. 1 High School campus every day just to target them.

If she did that, they’d have to call the mental hospital for a proper diagnosis.

“Without Jiang Xinxin, at least Su Yingying should be peaceful for a while.” In Tang Xiaorou’s view, Jiang Xinxin was Su Yingying’s scheming advisor, always coming up with bad ideas.

Previously, Su Yingying’s arrogance and showing off in front of Yu Chuyao were probably all ideas from her.

Wasn’t it just two years of reaping benefits by staying by Su Yingying’s side? Why is it that the moment I step away, she can’t handle it anymore?

Tang Xiaorou secretly laughed, if Jiang Xinxin was like this, then Su Yingying was even worse, seeing her eagerly seeking Xie Jin’s help to suppress her was the best example.

Too bad Tang Xiaorou was no longer the pure, stubborn person from her previous life, Su Yingying’s current tricks seemed childish to her.

Su Yingying lost a deskmate, Jiang Xinxin had come to school early to pack up all her things, and before leaving, she complained to her that this must have been done by Tang Xiaorou, otherwise why would someone dig up her past mistakes when they were about to graduate and take the college entrance exam.

Su Yingying looked at her somewhat speechlessly, not to mention the previous mistakes, even Su Yingying had reminded her many times, but she simply didn’t care, thinking Tang Xiaorou could help her.

Now things had gone too far.

But it’s also good, she now needed to study hard to get into college, if Jiang Xinxin stayed by her side influencing her, she’d probably end up working in a factory after the college entrance exam.

She didn’t want that!

Therefore, Jiang Xinxin was also abandoned by Su Yingying.

Now that there was no one following her, she began to pay more attention to Tang Xiaorou. Whether Tang Xiaorou would still like her or not, she had to hold onto Xie Jin as her “lifeline.”

Even though she didn’t actually like Xie Jin, she had to maintain a good relationship with him for now.

She looked back, seeing Tang Xiaorou sitting in the corner of the last row, who was also looking at her at that moment. Their gazes met directly.

“What are you looking at?” Yu Chuyao waved her hand in front of Tang Xiaorou’s eyes.

“Nothing.” Tang Xiaorou came back to her senses, returning to her usual playful self: “Just feeling it’s rarely peaceful now.”
