Chapter 5: You’re First in Class, Should I Teach You?

***

“Why are you staring at me? Want me to explain the problems?” Su Yingying impatiently said as she saw Tang Xiaorou remaining motionless.

No way, is there something wrong with this girl?

Tang Xiaorou stared at her in shock. Hadn’t she just drawn clear boundaries with her? How did she have the nerve to come asking for help with homework now?

Yes, she had been naive before. Seeing Su Yingying struggling with studies, she worried that Su Yingying wouldn’t be able to attend university with her, so she deliberately sacrificed some of her own time to help her, which eventually became a habit.

But now that she had already said she wouldn’t deal with Su Yingying anymore, what obligation did she have to help improve her grades?

It wasn’t that Tang Xiaorou was being arrogant or looking down on others, but given Su Yingying’s personality and study habits, without her help, her grades would at best hover around the undergraduate admission line.

So in this rebirth, she wanted to see if Su Yingying would still sail smoothly through life like in her previous life without her help.

Tang Xiaorou ignored Su Yingying and quietly took out the test papers from her desk.

After all, it had been many years since she’d dealt with high school knowledge. Even though she had academic success in her previous life, she still needed to spend some time reviewing properly.

“Hey.” Seeing Tang Xiaorou ignoring her for so long, Su Yingying became anxious and, like usual, criticized Tang Xiaorou: “Didn’t you hear me asking you to explain the problems? Hurry up.”

The response she got was just a roll of the eyes from the girl.

Psycho, Tang Xiaorou cursed in her heart. She gathered her test papers and stood up from her seat, walking straight to the back of the classroom.

This stirred up the previously settled atmosphere again. Because of what happened during the break, they clearly knew why she was walking to the back of the classroom.

Everyone could see that Tang Xiaorou was going to find Yu Chuyao, who sat at the very back, including Yu Chuyao herself.

The classmate sitting next to Yu Chuyao tactfully took their test papers to find other students, leaving the seat empty. Only Yu Chuyao remained, sitting blankly in her original spot, not knowing what to do.

She also wanted to find someone to help her avoid Tang Xiaorou. But she had no memories, and besides Tang Xiaorou and Su Yingying, she didn’t know anyone else, so who could she go to?

Moreover, her original character setting was probably just a nobody in the class, without any friends.

What’s meant to be will be, when all seems lost a way will appear, she could only deal with things as they came.

Tang Xiaorou naturally sat down beside her, her relaxed and comfortable expression forming a stark contrast with Su Yingying’s grim face in the front row.

To this, Yu Chuyao could only weakly ask: “Classmate Tang, aren’t you afraid of making Classmate Su angry?”

In the original novel, this was the female lead’s biggest “follower,” the kind who wouldn’t turn back even after hitting a wall.

“Why should I be afraid of her? Who is she anyway?” Tang Xiaorou shrugged indifferently. Then she took out her test papers and placed them in front of Yu Chuyao: “Classmate Chuyao, can you help me with two problems?”

At these words, Yu Chuyao hadn’t yet reacted, but the previously noisy discussion around them suddenly quieted down.

Well well, so they were all pretending to discuss while secretly listening to our conversation!

“Um, classmate Tang Xiaorou, I remember we’re not that familiar, don’t you think it’s inappropriate to be so intimate?”

“Oh, that’s true.” Tang Xiaorou only then remembered that whether in her previous life or this one, she had never interacted with Yu Chuyao, and calling her “Classmate Chuyao” right away was a bit too familiar.

Feelings need to be cultivated gradually.

Yu Chuyao heard Tang Xiaorou’s previous words and thought, it’s just explaining two problems, why are they so shocked? Not understanding, she could only follow Tang Xiaorou’s words and pick up the test papers.

She didn’t know what to expect, but what she saw startled her.

This wasn’t asking for help with problems, this was clearly trying to intimidate her!

The entire math test paper was almost all correct, and the only wrong answer was on the last optional question, the hardest one. How could Yu Chuyao handle this? Although her college entrance exam scores weren’t bad, they weren’t at this level!

No wonder everyone around was making such a fuss. With these kinds of grades, in Yu Chuyao’s previous high school, this would be the level where you could openly sleep through classes while ignoring the teacher!

So, with this level of ability, why ask her for help?

Yu Chuyao had a headache, not understanding what this somewhat peculiar girl’s intentions were.

Seeing Tang Xiaorou “flirting” with others in the back, Su Yingying, still stuck in her front row seat, felt she was losing face. Usually, she barely paid attention to Tang Xiaorou, and now that she rarely showed goodwill, how dare she ignore her!

Furiously grinding her teeth, she angrily said: “Hmph! This Tang Xiaorou, I’ve decided for one week, no, one month I won’t talk to her!”

“That’s right, Yingying, don’t give her any face. When she realizes her mistake, she’ll definitely come running back to beg you,” Jiang Xinxin beside her was still fanning the flames.

That’s exactly the plan! Su Yingying decided to stop paying attention to the two people in the back and focus on class.

Yu Chuyao looked at her own test paper, scoring just over 90 points, barely passing level. Comparing it to Tang Xiaorou beside her, what difference was there between this and putting a Gold rank against a King rank?

Isn’t that scary.

“Classmate Tang, I can’t teach you with my grades…” Yu Chuyao could only refuse Tang Xiaorou’s request, while trying to get this attention-drawing person to move away from her quickly.

The novel didn’t have many scenes with her, surely she couldn’t force herself into more scenes?

But actually, even if I don’t ask the villain for more scenes, what can you do when the villain insists on adding scenes!

“It’s fine, you see I’ve been busy with other things lately and haven’t been paying attention in class, so my grades must have dropped,” Tang Xiaorou said carelessly, seemingly not caring about Yu Chuyao’s reason for refusal.

Do you even believe the nonsense you’re saying? The date on this test paper shows it’s from a few days ago, wasn’t it all taken by you personally?

Hey! Actually no!

The test papers she wrote in high school have nothing to do with her who traveled back in time! That’s what Tang Xiaorou thought.

To be honest, asking Yu Chuyao for help with problems was just an excuse. Even if her current grades had dropped compared to the past, she wouldn’t need to trouble the formerly unremarkable nobody in the class.

She just wanted to use this excuse to “tease” the good seedling who would later transform into a noble beauty! To build up their relationship, not actually expecting her to explain anything properly.

“But I really can’t explain the problems…” Yu Chuyao really needed to steel herself to reject this villainess, isn’t transmigrating into a book usually about clinging to the protagonist’s thigh? Why does the villain keep hovering around her?

Now Tang Xiaorou was somewhat confused. According to her memories from her previous life, this nobody had always been known for being kind and good-natured during high school. Because she didn’t attract attention, whenever someone came to ask for help, she would basically agree immediately.

Even if there were things she couldn’t do and would be blamed afterward, she would still accept it obediently.

How come today, after she had expressed herself so many times, there was still no response?
