Chapter 49: Stubborn as a Mule
***
When Tang Xiaorou learned that Yu Chuyao was mistaken for skipping class because she went to pick up something from the landscaping pond by the school fence, she wasn’t too worried at first. Because it was just a misunderstanding, this kind of thing was easy for her to handle, not a difficult matter.
But when she heard the reason behind it, that it was because Jiang Xinxin had thrown the necklace out there, her anger immediately flared up.
Well well, even Su Yingying herself doesn’t dare to act up in front of her anymore, how dare you, Jiang Xinxin, a mere follower?
“Is it really okay?” Yu Chuyao asked timidly. Before transmigrating, although her academic performance in high school wasn’t good, she had at least been a well-behaved student for three years. She might make some minor mistakes in class, but she would never dare to damage facilities or skip class by climbing over walls.
So saying she sneaked out through a gap in the fence to skip class, that was something she wouldn’t dare to do even if you gave her several lives worth of courage!
Tang Xiaorou laughed and comforted her: “Since this kind of thing is reported to the homeroom teacher, based on the teacher’s understanding of students, wouldn’t they know whether you skip class or not?”
“However, what’s a bit difficult is that they’ve already notified the parents, that might be slightly troublesome.”
Oh right, Yu Chuyao scratched her head, notifying the parents… would mom blame her?
Every time she returned home, Mrs. Yu was always very caring and kind to her. But this doesn’t mean she would maintain the same attitude when mistakes were made.
So she was worried.
“Just focus on evening self-study for now.” Tang Xiaorou advised her not to worry too much, there’s always a way out when you reach the mountain, the boat will naturally straighten when it reaches the bridge, take it one step at a time.
Meanwhile, Jiang Xinxin in front, seeing this scene, couldn’t help but snicker under her desk, making Su Yingying beside her very puzzled.
“What did you do?” Su Yingying asked.
“Never mind that, Yingying.” Jiang Xinxin giggled, as if victory was already in her grasp: “Anyway, that little nobody won’t have any good days ahead in the next couple of days!”
She certainly knew that many first and second-year students had been climbing walls to skip class recently, so when she threw the necklace over there, she was thinking Yu Chuyao wouldn’t be stupid enough to go pick it up during class break, as she would definitely be caught by the school teachers who were aware of this situation and lying in wait.
Unexpectedly, she really went.
Her brain couldn’t plan to such an extent, it was just a lucky coincidence, various factors just happened to come together.
During the last two periods of evening self-study, Yu Chuyao’s mood was even worse than during the first half when she was anxious to pick up the necklace. She was so nervous that her study efficiency dropped significantly, which left Tang Xiaorou beside her only able to focus on comforting her.
However, this situation was ultimately broken when the homeroom teacher suddenly came to the class and called out Yu Chuyao’s name while standing at the front of the classroom.
“Yu Chuyao, come out for a moment.” The homeroom teacher’s voice broke the quiet study session, making the whole class focus their attention on this nobody.
Yu Chuyao’s face immediately turned red, being watched by so many people was a first since she transmigrated. She quickly stood up and walked out of the classroom to avoid being stared at any longer.
Tang Xiaorou, looking at Jiang Xinxin gloating in front, also felt a surge of anger, thinking about how to properly punish this brainless woman.
“I’ve heard about your situation.” The homeroom teacher was also very helpless, she had been peacefully preparing lessons in the office when suddenly the academic affairs office notified her to bring a student over, and even heard that parents had already been called: “Your parent is also on their way here.”
I… Yu Chuyao had an urge to curse, but she held it back.
They move fast.
Actually, the homeroom teacher also didn’t believe Yu Chuyao would skip class, because she had seen her efforts. But helplessly, since the school called for her this way, she could only comply.
Taking Yu Chuyao upstairs, they went to the academic affairs office together, finding several students already being scolded there.
However, they were all boys, Yu Chuyao was the only girl.
This made her particularly stand out.
“Well well, even got a girl here.” The person in charge of the lecture wasn’t the one who caught people at the landscaping pond earlier, seeing Yu Chuyao come in, they pointed to the front of the students: “Come stand here.”
“Teacher, I’m not…”
Just as Yu Chuyao wanted to explain again, the other party seemed completely unwilling to give her a chance to explain, directly retorting: “Whatever excuse you want to make, that’s for when you write your self-criticism later, first stand here.”
How infuriating. Even though Yu Chuyao had a good temper, being misunderstood like this and not given a chance to explain, she couldn’t help but feel resentful. Her clenched fists also represented her current inner anger.
Seeing Yu Chuyao not moving, the teacher also urged: “Hurry up, don’t make me come over there and drag you.”
The homeroom teacher also sighed, patting her back.
“I really didn’t!” Yu Chuyao insisted once more, it wasn’t something she did, even if they forced her to admit it, it wouldn’t work: “I didn’t do it, why should I write a self-criticism!”
The homeroom teacher clearly hadn’t expected that Yu Chuyao, who usually left no impression, would be so adamant at this moment, completely overturning her understanding.
“Hey!” The academic affairs office teacher also had strong opinions about Yu Chuyao, the only girl and also the most stubborn among these students: “Don’t say I didn’t warn you, this matter has already been reported to your parents by phone, let them see what kind of person you are at school.”
This undoubtedly hit Yu Chuyao’s weak spot, making her heart begin to waver.
The teacher thought they had gotten a handle on Yu Chuyao, and was about to go grab her.
But at this moment, a deep and powerful voice from outside interrupted everyone’s attention.
“What kind of person our daughter is, we know ourselves, no need for teachers to enlighten us.”
Everyone focused their attention on the doorway. Since the homeroom teacher and Yu Chuyao hadn’t closed the door when they came in earlier, the man didn’t need to knock to disturb, he just stood at the doorway watching them.
The man’s appearance was plain, dressed simply, nothing particularly outstanding about him, basically the type you couldn’t pick out at first glance in a crowd at a shopping mall.
Yu Chuyao was startled, could this be her father whom she hadn’t seen since transmigrating here? Recalling the family photo of the three of them she had seen at home, the appearance in the picture seemed to gradually overlap with the man.
Originally, she thought that when parents learned about this kind of thing and came to school immediately, they would come to demand an explanation. But hearing what her father just said, it seemed he didn’t believe the teacher’s words and was instead supporting her?
“Parent, do you know the full picture of what happened?” The academic affairs office teacher frowned, seemingly unhappy about Mr. Yu contradicting him.
Since no one invited him in, Mr. Yu also just stood outside the door, smiling as he said: “Then teacher, how are you so sure that what you know is the full picture?”
