Chapter 4: Is This Woman Crazy?!

***

The break time in the third year of high school was brief, and this interlude occupied most of it. Just a few minutes after everyone dispersed, the class bell rang again.

Yu Chuyao continued sitting in her corner seat near the back, using the pile of textbooks on her desk to quietly observe the class situation.

Having been away from high school life for so long, suddenly coming back made her feel somewhat curious. But what concerned her most were Tang Xiaorou and Su Yingying who approached her during the break.

As the Mary Sue protagonist in the novel, Su Yingying was indeed quite attractive. Combined with the typical school beauty setting common in novels, it was inevitable that the students here would embrace her with such a title.

Yu Chuyao thought that since she wasn’t a major character in the book, there was no need to hover around the protagonist, she might as well treat this as being reborn again.

However, she still felt somewhat guilty… she had already endured the torment of high school and college entrance exams once before, ugh.

As for the biggest variable, Tang Xiaorou…

Logically, as the villain who obstructs the protagonist’s pursuit of happiness, Tang Xiaorou should have been utterly devoted to the protagonist, thus targeting her love interest in various ways.

In other words… a “simp.”

Yet what she saw was someone who had suddenly come to their senses, with an attitude of severing ties as if there was a deep blood feud between them.

What’s more unexpected was why Tang Xiaorou, after meeting her just once, approached her so eagerly.

After this commotion, the entire class instantly split their attention between two focal points.

One was Tang Xiaorou and Su Yingying at the front. Although they weren’t seated together, they weren’t far apart, everyone knew why. Tang Xiaorou had pursued Su Yingying for two and a half years, and suddenly announcing she was giving up made it impossible for people not to wonder what had happened between them.

The other focus was Yu Chuyao. Being the center of so much attention made her nervous, as she had been a nobody both before and after transmigrating into the book. During break time, Tang Xiaorou had clearly shown interest in her, which naturally drew people’s attention.

After all… high school life is monotonous, and with such juicy gossip, who wouldn’t want to get in on it?

In the front row, Tang Xiaorou was tidying up her seat, completely unaware of her deskmate Ran Xia’s strange gaze.

“Did some evil spirit possess you?” As Tang Xiaorou’s deskmate, Ran Xia’s friendship with her had spanned their entire high school period, so he was definitely the most familiar with how obsessed Tang Xiaorou had been in pursuing Su Yingying.

So when he saw Tang Xiaorou bringing breakfast for Su Yingying so kindly in the morning, then completely turning against her just hours later and running off to curry favor with the nobody Yu Chuyao, he felt like he’d seen a ghost and kept examining her body.

Tang Xiaorou naturally didn’t care about his gaze. After all, the one who had simped for Su Yingying was the “me” from this morning, what did it have to do with her current reborn self?

“I just had some realizations about certain things,” Tang Xiaorou gave him a knowing look. After all, there are plenty of people in this world who have sudden enlightenments, so her situation wasn’t that strange, right?

“But why did you just dump Su Yingying like baggage, then go after Yu Chuyao?”

In most classmates’ eyes, Yu Chuyao always covered half her face with long bangs, was tiny in stature, completely unremarkable, the very image of a gloomy little sister.

But Tang Xiaorou was different. Whether in academics, family background, or personal appearance, she was among the top in the entire school. If it weren’t for the fact that she had started “simping” for Su Yingying since entering school, and her behavior was too intense, she would probably have had a lot of pursuers confessing to her.

So Ran Xia couldn’t figure out, no matter how hard he tried, why Tang Xiaorou would suddenly change her attitude and be so friendly to Yu Chuyao.

This thought was also the confusion in most classmates’ minds.

In their view, Yu Chuyao and Tang Xiaorou were complete opposites in school.

“What’s wrong? What’s wrong with pursuing my future wife?” Tang Xiaorou had made up her mind, this life she must change her tragic fate, set her sights on Yu Chuyao who would transform into a beautiful girl in the future, and never let go again.

Ran Xia was speechless. In his view, wasn’t Tang Xiaorou still just pursuing another girl? With her conditions, finding a partner shouldn’t be difficult, so why did she insist on lowering herself to chase after other girls?

But there was nothing he could do. As a friend, he couldn’t control Tang Xiaorou’s decisions, so he could only quietly say: “Good luck.”

The implication was hoping she wouldn’t end up like when pursuing Su Yingying, such a long time without any results.

Tang Xiaorou naturally had confidence. She had some understanding of what kind of person Yu Chuyao was, in her previous life, at every class reunion, people would mention this girl who had transformed herself, making it hard not to like her.

So she was also clear that her dedication to Yu Chuyao would definitely be worth it.

Before the two could continue their conversation, the math teacher, who was their homeroom teacher, walked in with textbooks, instantly silencing the previously noisy classroom.

As soon as she entered, her gaze fell on Tang Xiaorou and Su Yingying at the front.

As a teacher, when something significant happened during break time in her class, someone would definitely run to “tattle” to her, so she roughly knew what had occurred.

Regarding Tang Xiaorou, she had mixed feelings.

As one of the top students in the class, and even ranking among the best in the whole school, as a homeroom teacher, she was very pleased to have such a good student under her supervision. But similarly, because of the situation with Su Yingying, she wanted to intervene but couldn’t.

She could only turn a blind eye, after all, being over 30 years old, she had long seen through what kind of person Su Yingying was. As long as she didn’t cause trouble that would derail this potential key university candidate, it would be fine.

Who would have thought Tang Xiaorou would suddenly come to her senses on her own, what wonderful news!

However, gossip aside, studying was still the top priority in school. She quickly adjusted her expression and formally stood on the podium, scanning the room.

“The first mock exam results are out, right? I’ll hand out the answers, take 10 minutes to discuss any questions, and we’ll go over them together when reviewing the problems.”

The third year of high school was already half over, and the curriculum had been completed six months ago, so large amounts of time were spent on practice problems and reviewing them. Only after major mock exams would there be organized reviews of knowledge points.

With the teacher’s orders, the previously quiet classroom instantly returned to being noisy, with the sound of flipping papers mixing with discussion voices, creating quite a lively atmosphere.

However, at this time, Tang Xiaorou, who had been thinking of finding an excuse to go to the back, hadn’t even gotten up from her bench when a test paper was thrown at her. She turned her head to see Su Yingying, separated only by an aisle, looking at her nonchalantly, as if waiting for something.
