Chapter 37: Who am I Having a Conflict With?
***
“Get lost!”
The phrase wasn’t long, but it was concise and effective.
It perfectly expressed Tang Xiaorou’s exasperation.
If you’re sick, go get treatment. Tang Xiaorou never expected that when looking at the two of them through the lens of pursuit, they seemed more and more like lunatics, more and more like idiots.
How did she even fall in love with Su Yingying in the first place?
Oh, there seemed to be some special reasons contributing to that.
“What did you say!” The two of them looked like bristling stray cats, eyes wide open.
This wasn’t quite like what they had analyzed in the morning.
Clearly, Tang Xiaorou’s recent behavior showed she wasn’t interested in Yu Chuyao, right? They thought Tang Xiaorou was really just using Yu Chuyao as a means to provoke Su Yingying, wasn’t this the best proof?
Little did they know that after Mrs. Tang’s guidance last time, Tang Xiaorou understood she had been too aggressive.
She and Yu Chuyao still had a long way to go, right? If she couldn’t pursue her in high school, there was still college. She had spent so much time pursuing Su Yingying in her previous life, how could she not have even this much patience now?
She couldn’t push Yu Chuyao too hard, as that would only harm their relationship.
The love between them hadn’t fully developed yet, and even if they were already dating, they needed their own space.
“I said,” Tang Xiaorou was getting a bit impatient. When she was with Yu Chuyao, she always felt time wasn’t enough, even in high school she wanted to extend it a bit, to spend more time with Yu Chuyao.
But meeting these two felt increasingly like a waste of time, every second seemed like torture.
“Stay as far away as possible.”
She hadn’t even gone looking for trouble with them, yet here they were asking for a scolding, how peculiar.
The two were furious at Tang Xiaorou’s response. Su Yingying was better off, her psychological resilience had always been stronger, so she was fine, just looking a bit unhappy.
But Jiang Xinxin was different, she wanted nothing more than to go up and scratch Tang Xiaorou’s face.
“Don’t you feel any guilt at all?”
Not really. Why should Tang Xiaorou feel guilty? Without the pursuit of Su Yingying, you’re just classmates at school, and outside of school, what are you?
“I think,” Tang Xiaorou glanced at the two of them, “rather than having the energy to create conflicts with me here…”
“You should think about how to improve your grades.”
“Reading novels up front every day, will you pass the next mock exam?”
This statement completely stumped the two of them.
It wasn’t wrong, Su Yingying indeed needed to study hard and prove in the next mock exam that her academic improvement wasn’t just because of Tang Xiaorou. But unfortunately, she couldn’t resist Jiang Xinxin’s temptation beside her.
The novels were just too good, she couldn’t help it…
“Don’t end up with your combined total scores being lower than mine alone.” Tang Xiaorou shrugged helplessly, “That would be quite an embarrassing scene~”
It wasn’t that Tang Xiaorou was deliberately mocking them, she was just stating a possible fact.
Tang Xiaorou showed them no face at all, leaving Su Yingying and Jiang Xinxin in sudden silence, not knowing how to counter.
To save some face, Su Yingying spoke up: “Xiaorou, why are you so hostile towards us? Weren’t we getting along well before?”
“And haven’t you been having conflicts with Chuyao lately? It seems you’ve grown quite distant.”
This white moonlight behavior made Tang Xiaorou purse her lips, calling her ‘Chuyao’ and ‘Xiaorou’ so casually, acting as if they were all close friends.
She really couldn’t stand Su Yingying’s behavior now.
More importantly…
“Which eye of yours saw me having conflicts with Chuyao?” Tang Xiaorou was completely puzzled. She was just adjusting her relationship dynamics with Yu Chuyao.
Yu Chuyao hadn’t shown any obvious signs of rejection, because she knew her life currently still revolved around these two points of Tang Xiaorou and Su Yingying, and she also couldn’t stop Tang Xiaorou’s closeness, so she could only maintain this relationship.
Both Tang Xiaorou and Yu Chuyao needed to figure out each other’s hidden little secrets.
At least maintain their relationship well until after the college entrance exam.
Tang Xiaorou was bewildered, they couldn’t possibly think that she had conflicts with Yu Chuyao and failed in her pursuit, so she would come back to pursue her instead?
What kind of logic was that?
Even a good horse wouldn’t eat old grass!
No? Su Yingying and Jiang Xinxin didn’t believe it. Your behavior is so obvious, anyone can see it!
“If not, why does she have to buy her own food?” Jiang Xinxin seemed to have grabbed some crucial evidence and immediately responded.
Uh…
Tang Xiaorou was speechless.
To judge that there was conflict and discord between them just because of this seemed too childish.
She didn’t even bother to refute, because facts would speak louder than words.
“What? Can’t say anything now?” Feeling like she had turned the tables, Jiang Xinxin’s confidence doubled. She wanted to list out a whole string of Tang Xiaorou’s recent wrongdoings and give her a good grilling.
But thinking carefully, she couldn’t really come up with anything else.
Just then, a small voice came running from outside, with little short legs pattering along.
Originally when she ran to her seat and didn’t see anyone, she thought no one was there and was about to catch her breath, but then she discovered the three people gathered several rows away.
“There.” Tang Xiaorou jerked her chin in that direction. “Here she comes.”
Yu Chuyao waved her hand, telling Tang Xiaorou to come over quickly.
Today was her turn for duty, and things like sprinkling water had to be done after sweeping the floor, so she definitely didn’t have time to buy food. They could only trouble Yu Chuyao.
This was actually Yu Chuyao’s own suggestion, it seemed the little one had been bothered by always letting Tang Xiaorou buy food.
“Look at what I bought, is it okay?” Yu Chuyao looked quite proud, her righteous attitude exactly like a little landlord who had gained some capital.
“OK OK, everything’s fine with me.” Tang Xiaorou replied with a smile. “Take it outside first, we’ll find a place to eat later, the classroom hasn’t been cleaned yet.”
“Alright!” Yu Chuyao looked silly and innocent, doing whatever Tang Xiaorou said, but before leaving she still observed Su Yingying and Jiang Xinxin’s state.
Now wasn’t the time to ask questions. Whatever had happened between the three of them just now, she’d let Tang Xiaorou handle it for now.
This much she could understand.
After Yu Chuyao left carrying the food, Tang Xiaorou didn’t need to say anything more in defense, it had already directly contradicted what the two had said earlier.
“Well? Anything else to say?”
Already at a disadvantage, and now their only “evidence” had been disproven. Jiang Xinxin couldn’t say anything at this point.
“Let’s go, let’s go.” The cleaning was about to end, just sprinkle some water on the already swept areas and her task would be complete.
As for Jiang Xinxin and Su Yingying who had been slacking off until now, they could do whatever they wanted.
