Chapter 27: Not Feeling Well
***
It was another ordinary early morning when Yu Chuyao woke up in her bed.
Sometimes she felt like she hadn’t really transmigrated into a novel, but just gained an additional set of memories about her previous life. If it weren’t for Tang Xiaorou and Su Yingying’s identities matching the information she knew from the novel, she would have thought it was just her imagination.
Wait, what if it really was just her wild imagination? Could it be that she hadn’t actually transmigrated?
In the end, she couldn’t figure out the answer and could only stick to her belief that she had transmigrated into the novel.
However, today when she woke up, unlike before, her head felt somewhat dizzy and heavy.
This wasn’t right. Her sleeping schedule was very good now. While she might have stayed up late occasionally during high school, now she would rest a bit after returning home, then wash up and go to bed, making sure to get nearly 6 hours of sleep.
She went to the bathroom and splashed cold water on her face, which made her head slightly clearer, then put on her clothes and school uniform jacket before heading out to school.
Walking on the road, Yu Chuyao felt her body was somewhat loose and lacking energy, but when she touched her forehead, it didn’t feel like she had a cold or fever. These symptoms were unfamiliar to her, something she hadn’t experienced before.
Because of this, she arrived at school nearly 10 minutes later than usual today. Everyone else had gone for morning exercises while she had just entered the classroom.
As soon as she entered, she saw the empty classroom with only Tang Xiaorou anxiously sitting at her seat waiting for her.
Seeing her arrive, Tang Xiaorou finally relaxed her brows and smiled, waving: “Why are you so late today? Quickly come and eat your breakfast.”
Yu Chuyao nodded dazedly, sat in her seat, and looked at the breakfast brought for her, but had no appetite.
“Why aren’t you eating?” Tang Xiaorou found Yu Chuyao’s gloomy appearance strange: “Does today’s breakfast not suit your taste?”
That shouldn’t be the case. She had seen Yu Chuyao eat these foods the fastest before, which was why she bought more of them.
“No, that’s not it.” Yu Chuyao shook her head and still picked up the carrot beef patty she had been eating quite often lately. Even without an appetite, she had to force something down, otherwise her stomach would growl halfway through morning classes, making it difficult to focus on lessons and solve problems.
Yu Chuyao’s unusual behavior made Tang Xiaorou worried, so she advised: “Tell me if you’re not feeling well, I’ll take you to the infirmary. If needed, there’s the city hospital right across the intersection outside our school, just a few steps away to get emergency treatment.”
“It’s fine.” Yu Chuyao reassured her, saying she wasn’t that fragile.
The third year of high school was a time when every minute counted, especially with less than half a year remaining. Taking even one day off would make anyone feel distressed.
After eating something and drinking some hot porridge, Yu Chuyao felt slightly better, so she didn’t dwell on it, thinking she would feel better after getting more rest at noon.
However, as time passed, her energy levels were affected throughout the morning. During classes, she dozed off several times due to feeling dazed and was woken up by Tang Xiaorou multiple times.
“Really, you should go get checked if you’re not feeling well.” Tang Xiaorou wasn’t a doctor and didn’t understand medicine, so she couldn’t make any judgments, only offer suggestions.
Seeing Tang Xiaorou’s insistence, Yu Chuyao could only nod. It would be better to get her body feeling well soon. Some illnesses might not improve by just enduring them, and could instead develop into more problems.
During the morning break, Tang Xiaorou called over her friend Ran Xia.
“Ran Xia, come help me get a leave slip from the teacher.”
Originally thinking Tang Xiaorou wanted to use the leave slip to go buy something for someone outside again, Ran Xia was about to severely criticize this good friend, but when he came over and saw Yu Chuyao lying on the desk, he swallowed back the words that had reached his lips.
“Alright.” He nodded and gestured with his hand: “Do you need one or two slips?”
“One is enough, write both our names together.”
Yu Chuyao at this point propped herself up, preparing to stand. However, unexpectedly, she lost her balance and fell back into her seat, her body slumping weakly against Tang Xiaorou’s shoulder.
Leaning like this actually felt somewhat comfortable, to the point where Yu Chuyao didn’t want to move.
“What are you getting up for? Don’t you want to rest a bit more?” Tang Xiaorou also stayed still, and they maintained this position.
“Need to go to the bathroom.” Yu Chuyao still persisted and tried to get up again.
Walking past Tang Xiaorou towards the classroom door, Tang Xiaorou was originally waiting for Ran Xia to bring her the leave slip when she happened to glance at Yu Chuyao as she walked by.
She hadn’t noticed before, but what she saw shocked her.
“Wait!” Tang Xiaorou called out to Yu Chuyao, who turned around confused, not knowing what she meant.
Some people around were also attracted by her call. Seeing this situation, Tang Xiaorou quickly took off her school uniform and walked to Yu Chuyao’s side, wrapping the jacket around her waist.
This way of wearing the school uniform wrapped around was very common, Yu Chuyao sometimes did it too, but she didn’t understand why Tang Xiaorou was acting so suddenly.
“What’s wrong?” she asked in confusion.
Tang Xiaorou didn’t say much, just held her hand and walked out without looking back.
In the hallway, they happened to meet Ran Xia returning, who excitedly held up the leave slip he had gotten from the homeroom teacher: “Xiaorou, here’s the leave slip.”
But unexpectedly, he was ignored by Tang Xiaorou, who didn’t even look at him as she passed by. Only Yu Chuyao gave him an apologetic glance before continuing to be pulled along by Tang Xiaorou towards the outside of the teaching building.
“Where are we going?” Finally out of the teaching building, Yu Chuyao asked again. There were no classmates here, so surely there was no need to be so secretive?
Tang Xiaorou let go of her hand, gave her a helpless glare, then lifted a corner of the uniform wrapped around Yu Chuyao’s waist from behind.
“See for yourself.”
Following where Tang Xiaorou had lifted, Yu Chuyao looked at the back part of her school uniform, only to see that the originally loose blue uniform had now been stained dark by an unknown liquid, and even had a reddish tinge…
What… what’s this? Yu Chuyao was stunned, this was undoubtedly her knowledge blind spot, she had no information about it at all.
Tang Xiaorou poked her forehead, her tone full of exasperated sighs: “You silly thing, you didn’t even know your period had started?”
“You had me worried about you since early morning until now.”
Pe… period?
These words undoubtedly shocked Yu Chuyao greatly. She really hadn’t noticed, could it have been when she was lying on the desk earlier…
“I don’t know whether to call you silly or just too carefree,” Tang Xiaorou smiled helplessly. Not even remembering her own period, if she hadn’t noticed it early with her sharp eyes, Yu Chuyao would have been even more embarrassed in front of their classmates.
