Chapter 14: Special Privileges Just for You
***
Looking at the breakfast on the desk, Yu Chuyao was momentarily dazed.
When she first came to school, her head wasn’t very clear, and everything about who called her and what they said to her felt like a dream, so she couldn’t remember at all what Tang Xiaorou had said or done to her.
Looking around, she found that there was no one else in the classroom except the two of them, which made her panic.
“Hey! Classmate Tang, why are we the only two people here? Where are the other students?” If you listened carefully, you could still hear the faint morning exercise broadcast from outside the window, which made Yu Chuyao panic: “Did I oversleep and forget about morning exercises?”
No, no, she shouldn’t have dozed off, how much better it would have been to just hold on until morning self-study ended…
However, Tang Xiaorou was quite calm in reassuring her, patting her shoulder: “It’s fine, I’ve already asked for leave on your behalf.”
Yu Chuyao’s small frame was among the front row even among the girls in class, and generally, this position was difficult to run in, naturally not as fast as the tall students in the back, and being too slow would be complained about, completely lacking the relaxed feeling of being in the back rows.
“Look at your tiny arms and legs, you’re clearly malnourished. From now on, just skip the running with me and rest well to prepare for the college entrance exam.”
“But…” Yu Chuyao hadn’t expected Tang Xiaorou could do such things, it was like she was doing all the things she hadn’t dared to do in high school!
She felt a surge of admiration and worship.
“But what? Is morning exercise more important than the college entrance exam?” Tang Xiaorou had already prepared her reasoning and stated righteously: “There will be plenty of time to exercise after getting into university, are we really short on time now?”
Students actually all knew about these little tricks of the school, it was just to deal with outside opinions, plus they didn’t want to give students special rest time for morning exercises, so they specifically learned from some water school and put morning exercises between waking up and morning self-study.
Pure nonsense, at least she didn’t like it.
“But this breakfast.” Yu Chuyao examined the cup of preserved egg and lean pork porridge, the peeled tea egg, and the fried carrot beef cake. To be honest, it was tempting, so much so that she had swallowed several times during their brief conversation.
As the saying goes, there’s no free lunch in this world.
She didn’t dare to keep accepting Tang Xiaorou’s kindness for no reason.
This was a novel world, and the female protagonist was Su Yingying. Tang Xiaorou was the villain, and her fate in this urban campus novel would probably be quite tragic, right? If she had too much connection with her, what if the plot changed slightly and she got caught up in a bad ending too?
So miss, could you please stop being so clingy… it’s really troubling for a nobody supporting character.
“Just eat it, I bought extra this morning and brought it to school for you.” She had always been known for buying multiple portions of breakfast for school. However, she used to bring them for Su Yingying, so to others, it just seemed like she was habitually buying extra, but after breaking ties with Su Yingying yesterday, she simply didn’t want to benefit her anymore.
You think I’d believe that reason? Yu Chuyao gave her an annoyed look. As if a good student with such a sharp mind would do something so foolish?
Hey! Wait! Actually, you never know!
After all, she was the villainess in the book who mindlessly pursued the female protagonist and even did various outrageous things, so it really wasn’t certain.
However, with the food already placed in front of her, and seeing the other person’s expression, it would really be impossible to refuse.
Yu Chuyao could only slowly pick it up and start eating under Tang Xiaorou’s watchful gaze.
The heat retention was good, and the temperature was just right for Yu Chuyao to accept, so she ate even faster than when she had noodles last night.
The carrot beef cake was delicious, and even though it was only palm-sized, Yu Chuyao was still surprised after taking one bite and finished it at the fastest speed.
As for the tea egg and lean pork porridge, Yu Chuyao thought they were just okay. Maybe her current body preferred sweet flavors, as these savory tastes weren’t quite to her liking.
And also…
Tang Xiaorou just sat there with her chin propped up, watching her eat, looking strange.
Yesterday at least she had ordered a bowl of noodles together with her, and started eating halfway through watching, making the overall interaction less weird. Now only letting Yu Chuyao eat by herself made her feel like some kind of pet hamster being raised.
The breakfast bought for her was like coarse grain casually thrown into a cage, watching her hold it and eat it bite by bite.
“Could you please stop staring at me?” Halfway through the porridge, Yu Chuyao felt she was pretty much full, so she put down the cup and gave Tang Xiaorou an embarrassed glare.
“What’s wrong?” Tang Xiaorou didn’t see any problem though. With her thick skin that allowed her to chase Su Yingying for more than 2 years, dealing with Yu Chuyao was a piece of cake, right?
Not to mention she had been reborn, and in her previous life she had done even more embarrassing things, so she had already trained her mentality well.
“The school doesn’t have any rules against looking at other students~”
To prevent early romance, the grade director had rules about distance and proper conduct between male and female students, but this set of rules didn’t apply at all between girls.
She was taking advantage of this loophole, and even if people saw it, they couldn’t say anything. If you wanted to make special rules just for her? That would be making too big a deal out of nothing.
Yu Chuyao: …
Regardless of whether there were rules or not, no one could remain unmoved under such “predatory gazing.”
“Alright, alright.” Making a joke, Tang Xiaorou started cleaning up the garbage on the desk: “Morning exercise is over, let’s quickly tidy up.”
Was there any difference in how fast they cleaned up? Yu Chuyao was sure that bringing her breakfast was something she had definitely done very conspicuously, and must have emphasized it in front of Su Yingying.
So why worry about other classmates knowing?
She really didn’t know what Tang Xiaorou saw in her? Yu Chuyao was certain the novel hadn’t mentioned Tang Xiaorou being attracted to her appearance. Otherwise, the story would have ended before the high school phase, right?
The thudding footsteps gradually approached, seeming like they would shake down the entire building. Students returned one after another, eagerly taking off their jackets as soon as they entered the classroom, resting at their respective desks.
They looked like they had just returned from a battle.
Yu Chuyao and Tang Xiaorou’s leisurely appearance immediately aroused envy, and with the breakfast that had been on the table before the run now gone, it gave people even more room for imagination.
No, sisters, are you playing for real or fake?
Su Yingying and Jiang Xinxin forced themselves to remain calm, pretending not to see such things, picking up their textbooks to continue memorizing.
However, when Tang Xiaorou returned to her seat from behind, they still couldn’t help but look at her.
What they met was her smile full of radiance, along with a somewhat challenging grin.
