Chapter 1: Transmigrating into a Novel as a Nobody

***

When the class bell rang, it was just an ordinary and uneventful break between classes. As soon as the teacher finished gathering their lecture notes and stopped holding the class over, the students who had been sitting for nearly 2 hours could hardly contain themselves anymore, rushing to get out of the classroom.

However, a small figure darted out ahead of the boys carrying basketballs, moving like an agile little rabbit.

Her loose shoulder-length hair swayed back and forth behind her, and for a moment no one could clearly see who the girl running ahead was.

Other students were a bit puzzled. Who was that, how much water did she drink during class to rush to the bathroom as soon as class ended? They’d never seen anyone this enthusiastic during regular running exercises.

But the young girl didn’t care what others thought. Right now she only had one thing on her mind, finding a mirror by the sink to see what she actually looked like.

The reason was simple, she had transmigrated.

Originally, she was just an ordinary male college student who had played games with roommates last night and had to be dragged up for an 8 AM class the next day. In her drowsy state, to prevent herself from falling asleep, she asked a friend nearby if they had any novels to pass the time.

Her friend searched for a title on their phone with a mischievous smile, but before she could even open it to read, her eyelids grew heavy and she lost consciousness.

When she opened her eyes again, all she could hear was the teacher’s knowledge points being called out through an amplifier, except the subject seemed different from her major.

Looking at the dense chalk writing on the blackboard and glancing around the surroundings, although different from the classroom in her memory, she could be certain that… she was now in some school classroom.

“What’s going on?” She unconsciously muttered quietly, but the voice that came out immediately made her realize something was wrong.

Looking down, the thin frame hidden under the loose uniform and the black hair falling beside her ears told her without needing to check her chest or between her legs that she now had the identity of a young girl…

“I…” She wanted to curse, but after looking left and right, she found herself in the back row of the classroom, and her desk mate was focused on the lecture, not noticing anything unusual about her.

The young girl sighed in relief, brushing aside her bangs that nearly covered half her face.

Very similar to those unremarkable classmates who sat in corners during her high school memories, barely interacting with others… how could she transmigrate into such an identity?

Most importantly! She had just started college less than 3 months ago! She didn’t want to go through the college entrance exam again!

Used to the relaxed college life, sitting back in a high school classroom made the young girl feel restless, completely unable to calm down. With no other choice, she flipped through the mountain of textbooks piled on her desk, hoping to find some clues about which novel she had transmigrated into.

Opening one at random, the name written on the title page made her pause.

Yu Chuyao.

A completely unfamiliar name. She prided herself on having read quite a few novels — whether fantasy, magic, cultivation, supernatural male protagonist stories, or romance, historical, campus female protagonist stories — she was certain she had never read a novel with this name as the protagonist.

Miss Yu Chuyao, who had just arrived, had her briefly raised spirits deflate again.

After searching her desk, she didn’t find the small mirror that girls usually carry, seems like they confiscated such items here just like at her old high school.

Having transmigrated into a girl’s body, especially a young girl not yet 16 years old, it was hard not to be curious about her current appearance.

So after barely enduring nearly 2 hours of classes, she finally got a long break where she could go out. That’s why Yu Chuyao rushed out at lightning speed to find a mirror, ignoring everyone’s stares.

The bathroom sink indeed had a large mirror, which satisfied Yu Chuyao. She habitually turned to go in, but a moment of clarity made her stop and step back.

Looking up at the wall, the ♂ symbol posted there made her shudder.

That was close… she almost walked straight into the boys’ bathroom.

She wasn’t a 3-year-old child, the physical changes, whether male or female, were very obvious. Even if habits couldn’t change quickly, at least her mind was still clear.

Going to the girls’ side, Yu Chuyao wasn’t shy about it, after all, she wasn’t going into the actual stalls, and with her current identity, what would it matter even if she did! (hands on hips)

Alright alright, back to the important matter. Standing in front of the sink, Yu Chuyao washed her hands, then used her water-droplet covered small hands to brush up her thick bangs that covered her face.

“Wow!”

The brief exclamation attracted quite a few female students who had just come over to use the bathroom. They were puzzled by Yu Chuyao standing in front of the mirror in a daze, giving her looks like she was an idiot.

But Yu Chuyao didn’t care about any of that, after all, the young girl’s face in the mirror truly made her unable to hold back that soft exclamation of admiration.

Originally, Yu Chuyao thought that she covered her face with bangs because she might not look good or had some defect. But after actually seeing it, the strong contrast made her even more shocked.

Is this… really herself?

It could be said that this face was even prettier than the girls she had seen in high school and college.

Suddenly she felt an urge to pursue herself!

She may have stayed at the sink for too long, the girls queuing behind her cleared their throats softly, interrupting Yu Chuyao’s mirror-gazing trance.

“Oh oh, sorry.” Letting down her bangs again almost covered half her face, making her seem to return to being the nobody from class earlier.

She couldn’t understand why a girl like this would use such a hairstyle to hide her looks.

It was truly puzzling.

This also made her wonder: Had she really not transmigrated into some novel’s female protagonist? Like those stories of someone weak and unknown in middle and high school, then suddenly changing after the college entrance exam and shocking everyone with their transformation.

Just as she was searching through her memories once again, walking to the classroom door, a loud shout from inside nearly made her lose her balance and fall.

“I told you! Su Yingying! I don’t like you anymore!” The young girl’s angry shout made the previously lively discussions inside and outside the classroom suddenly stop, everyone quietly looking toward the source of the voice.

Yu Chuyao was no exception, curious, she leaned against the classroom doorframe and poked her head in, seeing three people standing by the door.

Two girls appeared calm but were actually glaring haughtily at the young girl who had her back to Yu Chuyao. After speaking, the latter turned directly to walk out, immediately making eye contact with Yu Chuyao who hadn’t managed to pull back in time.

Oh no, caught watching the drama by the main character! Yu Chuyao internally shouted.

But unexpectedly, the young girl staring at her didn’t get angry, the anger on her face rapidly faded. In her gaze, Yu Chuyao detected a hint of… joy?

What are you happy about!
